Wilder vs Ortiz 2 Press Conference Full Fight Explain
Man, what amazing night tonight you guys fall for patiently waiting. I mean, what can I say? I mean, every day we've been talking about for this promotion. I mean, the fire lived up to the hype. Ortiz You know, you got to get there and take your hats off to him. I mean, he's definitely one of the most dangerous men in a heavyweight division, as I always say. That's why none of these other heavyweights do wanna fight him. And I keep an eye. And he proved that tonight. You know, hopefully, you know, they are giving him the opportunity now. Maybe they see a little kink in his game and give him the opportunity and that he's truly deserved. But I really had to be smart with him. We knew that coming in. We knew that in training camp. I went back to look at videos in and see what I was doing right and what I did wrong. I look at the video and I looked inside and saw what he did right and what he did wrong. And, you know, we put our game plan together. And it was an amazing, amazing fight. I saw the opportunity. I took it and my statement and I said these guys had to be perfect for me to wear around. I'd be honored to be part of the team. The second is legit logit. I proved that tonight as well. What else can I say? We're still undefeated. We still have Bible Belt, and now we move on to the next phase and Tapley of my life, I'm looking to beat the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world once everyone phase one name. I'm on a pursuit of that and I'm getting closer and closer to each and every time.
Hello. The artist graduations thank you so much. Two questions for you. You where you are trailing on all three scorecards at the time that you scored the knockout. And I wonder as the fight is progressing, are you thinking about yourself? You know, I'm probably losing this fight at the moment, but I have that great equalizer I can get about with one shot or were you losing the fight and kind of upset the fact that you're losing the fight? I mean, to be honest, I never worry about if I'm losing the fight. And now, you know, I'm blessed with some that these other guys are not blessed with. And that's tremendous power. And I know that I know that when I hit guys, you know, it hurts them. So when you have power like I have, you know, you're not worried about if you're winning rounds and not. I'm not I don't want that to be on my mind whether I'm running around or not. You know, and because I don't want my mind to be cloudy, you know, thinking about the round and round. You know, most of the time these guys win round's on me anyway. You know, but I know that sooner or later, you know, it's gonna come and win it. Calm down, baby. Good night. Like I always say, the other question, the day is this. There's been some chatter in the press center while we're waiting for you guys, for your team and you to come out here and people on social media, et cetera, saying, you know, after seeing a knockout like that and all the knockouts that you've had that maybe get a while, there is the greatest knockout punch in the history of boxing. What is your thought when you hear people even broach the topic?
What do you think? You know.
I mean, at this point in time, you know, you got to give me my credit at this point in time. I mean, it's sad that it took me over 40 fights to get the recognition that I truly deserved. Because when people see me, they've never seen my style and I know it takes it took a while for them to get used to what up? What I display my talent that I present to boxing but is different than any other fighter. What I do is not tell a textbook. You know, you can't really teach it. And I think that's what that made me unique. There was differentiate me from the rest of these fighters. As I say, you know, no, these guys not willing to fight guys 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 pounds of steel, not guys out like that. And at this point in time, my you know, I think I earned my due respect and my credit, you know, to say that I am one and I am the hard and puncher in boxing history, period. And. And I earned that. And over and over again, continuously consistence consistently. I do what I do. Time and time again, give people great fighters and great knockouts and try to fight the best. And still, when I fight the best, do it always reminds me. Back with Emmanuel Stewart. Do you know what I said? You know, he told me personally that, you know, he said you find law oppositions right now. But even when you move up into the, you know, so-called top where people say to stop, you're still going to knock them out. He told me that personally. And and and I'm fulfilling that what he told me. So. Oh, may. May he rest in peace. Deontay over here, the person who actually was crediting your power was Tyson Furious trainer Ben Davison. But he also said that he saw a couple of holes in your game that they plan on exposing in the next fight. Considering that fury was out boxing in the first match, how do you go with a different game plan in a second fight? Considering the circumstances?
Well, you know, each and every fighter, every fighter, you know, every time a person fights, they know, that's the same. We see different holes. We see different things. You're not going to be perfect in a fight. No one is. So, you know, I hope he took notes and carry a bet, you know, to this count, because I'm not fear out that I did the first time point-blank, period. And, you know, so I'm not worried about anything where anyone says, you know, I'm proven, you know, these guys, if they were so sure about certain things and if they seeing so much, he would've taken the rematch immediately. I'm not round here. Run around doing one hundred thousand things. I was the one that demanded a rematch as soon as possible, especially when it was a controversial decision. I'm the one who finds the top the best of the best in the division. I see no other fighters risk in any fights. Last hour, much a fury only had two, two, two, two big fights on his resume. And that's a win against Klitschko in a knockout against me in the last two was gives, you know, up and coming fighters. Look at me. I'm putting my title on the line each and every time. And I'm only getting better and better and better with the timing and the setting up these fighters. So come where I hope they're ready because I'm ready. You know, I'm in great shape. This is gonna be a quick turnaround for me. I haven't done this in an hour since the beginning of my career. And it's just going to make me better, you know, find oppositions that I'm fine, you know, doing it often and getting ready to go back in February or again. So I wish those guys good luck. I hope to take a lot of notes and because I'm ready.
Deontay right in front. Congratulations on the win. The first question, have you ever hit anyone person harder with one punch than you hit or teach tonight? And if you have, who was it? When people ask me which one is my favorite knockout, I always go back to the speaker knockout. I think that was the most devastating knockout it ever hit. A fighter with no hit of. Oh, you know what I'm trying to say. I've never seen nine like that. I really thought I killed spookier and at a point in time. And when you hit a guy like that, he'd come out of the hospital, still had a hospital gown on. Do you know something? You know, that was a good night for me and a bad night for him. But I mean, I'm always amazed at myself when I'm not guys out, you know when I go back and see it. I'm always amazed at what I've done, you know, although I am the one that's doing it. But it doesn't register in my head at that moment in time. That's why I go back. Ashley really sees it. I mean, no one is doing what I'm doing. You know, with devastating knockouts like that doesn't what I give the people devastating knockouts. And to see the reaction of their body when they hit the canvas is just unbelievable. You know, so I'm just happy to be in this division. The heavyweight division where it was was in a dark place and now is just on fire. And I'm just happy to be a part of it. The other question, you said you didn't care about the scorecards, but I was just puzzled. You weren't throwing a lot of punches at all. And you were sitting there and I thought maybe you start throwing the writing in to try to break something open, but you didn't do it. Why were you being so economical with the punches and waiting and so patient?
I had to be what it would if I Lafferty's team had 500 fights. you've got to be smart with a fighter like that.
You just can't go in and do anything with him. And I knew that coming in from the first hour, my photo, I knew that even coming in, I knew that I couldn't rush it. I wanted to wait. I wanted to wear him down a little bit. I wanted to measure him. I want to go to different angles. Adam, I want to see how he reacts when I do this, how you act when I do that, you know, and, um, and most of all, I just want to have fun in it. And. And I think I accomplished, you know, everything tonight. And when I actually found the shot that I was looking for. Bound baby. Good night to counter. Congratulations on the victory. You know, the last time we had a truly big heavyweight title fight in the US as Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, your fight with Fury the last name was big, but not quite to that level, of course. How big can this rematch be, especially after this had a real knockout? Another one for you, I think. I think due to the controversial decision that was, you know, that was made in people. Going back and forth, I think it's going to be even bigger this time around. You know, both of us, you know, per vote promote. Well, you know, we both can talk. And I think that what people want to see, you know, and so I'm looking forward to it. You know, we don't you don't. He doesn't want to know things. You just don't know until it happens. And I'm looking forward to two great numbers and even bigger. The second time in the first time, you've now at two rematches to burn. In the first light goes the distance. You knock it out in the first round or tease you knock out a couple around sooner. Is there any way, if you're in your mind, last the distance again?
You know, I've never been good with predictions. You know, that's one thing, but that's one thing about me. But like I said before, I don't blink. You just never know what's going to happen until it happened. And that's the amazing thing about me. You know, every fire that fires me, that they put up an amazing fight because they know what they end for. You know, their life is really on the line. You know, and you must say it because I am the most devastating knock out esan in the heavyweight division by far. And when you fire, I mean, you've got to be careful. You know, and so I'm looking forward to, you know, find a lot of the top doesn't division. I said only have six years in this sport. And I want to dedicate my, my love, my energy and passion to and I mean. So, you know, I ask everyone to give them my roses right now. You know, give me my due respect and my credit right now. You know, you know, I am here and I ain't going nowhere. My style is here. What I bring to boxing is here. And I ain't going nowhere. You know, people always talk about scales, scales, and scales. But as I can see it, I'm still undefeated. I'm not going I ever want to face. And these guys that have skills they can beat. So, I mean, something got, you know. I mean, it speaks for itself. So at this point in time, I need my due respect, please. Take. Congratulations. You talk about the due respect, but a lot of people don't have you ranked in the top ten pounds for pound. What is there a message that you have for those people? Do you think you belong in that powerful bound list? You know, when you're dealing with powerful, far powerful a pound, I really don't I don't think it belongs in a heavyweight division.
We stay in one division. You know, we can't go up and down like all these small guys. So, you know, I don't really consider us really having a powerful power. And, you know, for, you know, you always going to have people say this and say that you don't have people that like you don't have people that don't like you. And that's is part of life in general. You know, and, you know, I never worry about the things that I can't control what people see and what they don't see. You know, at the end of the day, you got to pay to see me win. You don't pay to see me lose. But then and now you don't get what? You don't get a great fight. Well, the question for you is the type of fury fight. You said the mistake that you made was celebrating too early when you had dropped him. When you knocked down or tease, you kind of celebrated again. Was there any concern that he might get up after you dropped him? Would desire and fear of dying? My only the only mistake that I made in that fire was not being patient. You know, I felt at that moment I had the world in my hands. There was a light shine on a heavyweight division and we brought a lot of people out. So I wanted to do something that I know that I always do. You know, and that's not come out in a devastating fashion. And I also learned, you know, early in my career that when I rush it, it now becomes like I want to and are arrested. I kept rushing and kept rushing and kept rushing it. And it wasn't common when I wanted to into the last ending, you know. So that was the only mistake that I made in that mistake, in that fight. And what was the what did you think that words he's had any chance of getting up when you found his way out, the way that he fell? You know, in the way do you feel in the way his body language was? I was looking, you know. It was it was a. It was one side of me that, I mean, he can't get up. And then, you know, I look back at gear to make sure that he wasn't getting nervous. And I think the referee did a great job. We'll stop the fire. We will hear him in favor of fire. We will be talking about a few right now. Deontay right here. Congratulations on a big win, a big knockout. My question for you is, as you kind of touched on, a lot of people talk about these fighters with a different set of skill sets that they have tonight. You displayed your patience. You kind of just touched on a moment. That was impressive. Can you elaborate on that? You so you showed tonight and is that something you had to develop or you kind of been working on it over time? I mean, as an as a true champion right now, I'm still learning, you know. I started boxing late, so, you know, I'm still learning and and and I love to learn. I love to continue to learn because if I wasn't still learning, then this would be boring to me already. You know, the knockout that I have, this is me, Larry is boring now, you know? So I love to continue to learn. And with Artes again, I have to be smart. It wasn't it wasn't. It was I had to be smart. Period. You know me. Like I say, he's the most dangerous heavyweight in the division now. That's why you only see me giving him the opportunity. All these other guys. Oh, he's old. He's old. But he proved he proved like he proved an age. A number, a number at the end of the night. You know me. And so a lot of these guys, they worry about losing their oaths or records and different things like that. You know, and, you know, I just don't where I like to put myself in fights that mean that's meaningful to me. You know, I'm looking for legacy and I'm not in this when I am my career. And when people talk about boxing, the first name I want people to come to mine is deontay Wilder. He did it better than anyone has ever done it. Even when the interests when I come in with my uniform, no one's doing it. You know, like I'm it. And, you know, it ain't. To both of Brad, you just it just is just when I look at the landscape of things and when I see what people want to stuff, that's what I want to give. I want to give people what they want, what they want to see. That's a dramatic knockout and nice fashion. And that's what I bring all the time. I'm a true champion myself, you know, and I got a great team as well. I've got a great team that that that makes things for me. And we collaborate most of the time. They have things planned already in their heads. And now we're working on the next outfit right now.
The ante on your last fight with Ortiz. Are you were buzzed in the seventh round and then you knocked him out in the 10th round. This time in the seventh round, you knocked him out. What were you thinking before that knockout and what did you see before that knockout? I was just thinking that I wanted to calculate his movement. It was one point in time where I think throughout the whole flight we were both calculating each other. I would see that he was looked down at my feet and I would see that. See, I don't have to look down because of my peripheral was amazing. So I continue to have and still see his old whole body. We will definitely, you know, like a tug of war about it. And between defeat position is I want to give him at a certain angle before I was religious through the right hand. You know, I didn't really commit too much to any punches because it was just calculation, calculation, you know. And I had to do that with a fighter like Ortiz. You got to do you've got to do that. You know, you just can't go on and do anything with him. He's to experience to go on. It would be foolish of me, you know, and I'm not too naive to think that, oh, I'm the bad mental plan and I'm the champion and I have power just to go on and do anything. That's not me. You know, I give them all the respect. I respect him right now and I respect him forever. You know, for the final day, he is he's a tremendous fighter. You have tremendous skill. You know, I wish I had some of those skills. So if he retires, I hope that just come and wash out on me while I'm still here. But it was an amazing fight. And in a night and you can only you can't ask more from two fighters in a room. Our champ right over here. You're always you're battle cry is the bomb squad always but watching you tonight, I had you behind in this fight. But all during the fight, you know, when I resembled more of a sniper to me tonight than anything else because you had that red laser and it was on his head. Following him for six rounds. And I knew eventually you were going to get him in the scope and pull that trigger. I mean, so I don't look at you. I look at you as more of a sniper than a leader of the bomb squad, at least in this fight. You know, when I made bomb squad and no. And the war crowded, I say. I wish I never created it because, you know, at this point in time is it takes too much of my energy is. It's way too much at this point in time. You know, we count down how many times we allow to say it. But yeah, I wanted to pick on what type of person I pick my shots. You know, I don't waste energy. We're just throwing anything. That's why you see me as a patient. You know, the patient was essential for this fight. I knew I had to be smart and I wanted to be patient. I knew I was going to wear him down at some point of time in flight. It was a lot of times where he was in. He was showing me where like I would hit him on his shoulders and their arms and stuff. And it just smart things like to hit him on his shoulders and their arms. And he would indicate to me I would see his emotion on his face that it was hurting him and bothering him at different times. But I'm definitely sniper rifle, for sure. You know, especially with an opponent as I had. That's why I say boxing and boxing styles make fights and you got to have different weapons and you're in your bag. And I definitely have different weapons. You know, although people only see the rocket launcher that comes out at the end of the night, you know. But at the end of the day, that what makes great fights and that's gonna put me at the top of all these guys, you know? And just amazing when you go back and look at a highlight reel. Oh, you know, my highlight really stack up is pretty nice. You know, I go back and look at the highlight reel before in the night. I'm like, who is this guy, you know? But I'm just blessed to be able to do what I do day in and day out and just to share my energy amongst the world and display my talent. So I appreciate all the fans, appreciate all the love and support that I've been receiving over the years. And you guys not only spent nothing but greatness from me from this point on and great face that I'm trying to give to the world and to turn to the enemy. As I said, I only have six years that I want to be in this sport. You know this is a brutal sport. This is a sport where, you know, it's a young man's boys. This boy, you can't stay in too long. And we've seen oh, you know, we've seen what can happen if you take too many blows to the head. And I just don't want to be a victim of that. So I'm playing this smart. As I said, I'm I'll give my energy six more years in and I'm out of here. So like I said in my flowers now Yang on. Trust me. Thank you guys so much. Have a safe night. Got to do women don't want to score. Thank you very much for the Japa dyads. Read Also: Goo Hara, South Korean K-Pop Star, Is Dies at Age 28 Read the full article
