Wiert Adels was the Master and Boatswain of the ship De Bloeyende Blom ( The Blossoming Blossom). He sailed from Libau (Latvia) with a cargo of grain back to Hellevoet (Netherlands) Shortly before Dunkirk he became victim of a French Privateer at the 1st August 1794, but with great courage he managed to attack the French Captain and throw him overboard. The French then returned his ship and cargo to him and he sailed at the 5th August 1794 to his port of destination.
