An ocean lives within its aqua hues. As you wear it, you feel the ebb and flow of its energy. Peaceful, it lulls me into watery daydream. Like the sea, it provides clarity, a space to sit and breathe. You watch the waves within its crystallized temple, finding answers in the blue depths. Aquamarine works with the throat chakra, providing fluid expression. The throat is where the truth flourishes. a sacred space of earth roots and cosmic wonder, our voice the passage between worlds.
AQUAMARINE: "Stone of the Sea,” It connects to the depths of the ocean, allowing you to reflect and find peace with your emotions. A magical stone that allows you to communicate with water spirits. Aquamarine strengthens communication with nature spirits, deepens intuition, and provides ocean energy.
Item: Large 55mm aquamarine cabochon framed in blackened sterling silver. Comes with an oxidized sterling silver 18” chain.

This pendant depicts the caduceus of Hermes: a winged staff topped by two intertwining snakes. Hermes, known as Mercury to the Romans, is a multifaceted god associated with movement, communication, language, knowledge, learning, and trickery. He was the patron of pirates and cattle raider in ancient Greece. He, along with Iris, delivers messages between the gods and from Zeus to mortals. He is a psychopomp, delivering the souls of the dead to Hades in the underworld. He is and does more than I could possibly list here.
This pendant is one inch (27mm) across, 1mm thick, and has a bail suitable for a 2-3mm chain. It is available in sterling silver, shibuichi (a 3:1 copper : silver alloy), yellow brass, or red bronze. It is available with an up-eye for wear as a pendant, a parallel jump ring for use as a key fob, or three jump rings for use in a rosary-style necklace.
Each pendant is made to order, cast and fabricated in my home studio in Kansas City, MO. Each piece has unique and inevitable variations and defects as a product of the hand-casting process. These talismans are not consecrated; that is your responsibility to perform in accordance with your own traditions and gnosis.

Meteor Shower (Part 23)
It is their final show in Dyamond and she is gripping her guitar very tightly.
She ought to relax.
She needs to.
She can’t play guitar like this, with a steely grip.
Every other show has gone well. But this show isn’t every other show. This show is going to come with an announcement.
But  when the last notes are strummed and the final lyrics fade into an echo and then into nothing, she can’t do it.
What she says instead is that, “we will be working on new music following our final show of the tour in Magix.” What she confesses instead is that, “things have gone surprisingly well with the Winx and we may possibly collaborate again in the future.”
She imagines that most people have already put two and two together. She imagines that most everyone, at the very least, was already expecting to see much more of Bloom. She will leave it to them two put two and two together regarding her past. If they do, they do. If they ask then she supposes that she will answer in earnest.
She hopes that they don’t ask.
Stormy always asks.
She asks a lot of questions such as “why didn’t you tell them, I thought that you were going to” and “we’re making new music already, we just made new music.”
Icy exhales as she scrubs her stage makeup away. “I changed my mind.”
Darcy rolls her eyes, “honestly, you should just get it over with.” She takes a sip of wine. “Do it on your own terms instead of letting the media out you on your behalf.”
It is solid advice that she can’t bring herself to take.
“I’d rather wait until after the tour ends to make another headline.” Icy shrugs. Even if that last one had put more focus and attention on Bloom than herself.
“Wait, so are we actually going to make a song with the Winx girls?” Stormy asks.
“If they’re up for it.” Icy shrugs. “I have a few ideas already. I was thinking of doing something experimental, at least for one song; I’d like to test death rock instruments with vocals from the Winx girls.” She hasn’t decided which way the lyrical themes will lean. Maybe they can make two songs, one with some more classical death rock lyrics and one with a fairy twist. “I would like to go back to our death rock sound or go completely back to our roots and do some wicca songs for the rest of the album.”
“Two albums in a year?” Darcy quirks a brow. “You’re feeling ambitious, aren’t you?”
“I have a lot of ideas.” She replies simply. “We probably won’t have it released within the year though.” With one final scrub, her face is fully free of makeup. It is the first time in a while that Darcy and Stormy have seen her face without makeup. Without makeup and without the temporary wear and tear of no sleep and withdrawals.
She runs a comb through her hair. It has grown longer again, but not nearly as long as she would like it to be. The press and social pages call her haircut sexy, she calls it mildly dissatisfactory. Perhaps it isn’t as hard to adjust to as a whole new face, but she still isn’t quite used to it.
With her makeup off and her hair cared for she unlaces her corset and casts it and several chains, a harness, and two bulky belts aside. She takes a breath, sometimes she doesn’t realize how heavy and restrictive her stage attire is until it is on the floor. Sometimes she doesn’t blame Stormy for refusing to wear corsets to their shows. She stands in front of the mirror contemplating whether she should throw on a t-shirt and some ripped jeans or if she should just put her pajamas on and save herself the time and trouble of doing so later.
A glance at Stormy reveals that she has already decided on pajamas. And Darcy is currently swapping her stage outfit for something more casual but definitely not comfy enough for sleeping in. She also keeps her belladonna pendant clasped around her neck.
Bloom appears in the mirror and wraps her arms around Icy’s middle and rests her chin on Icy’s shoulder. “New music, huh!? The others are up for the collaboration, Musa especially! She already has a few ideas. Tecna has been complaining that you should have run it by us first.”
Icy shrugs. “That’s what happens when you agree to collaborate with a witch band. We’re full of moderately to severely irritating surprises and inconveniences.”
“I like your surprises.”
“I don’t.” Darcy grumbles. “Your secrets annoy me.”
“That thing you do where you always have to have the volume at an odd number annoys me.” Icy retorts.
“That is such a weird thing to be peeved by!” Darcy throws her hands up.
“You’re a weird thing to be peeved by!” Stormy interjects.
“You’re not even part of this argument, Stormy!” Darcy rolls her eyes.
“I am so.”
“You are not.”
Icy inhales through her nose. “This is going to be the ambiance for tonight, Bloom. So I hope that you enjoy the soothing sound of ‘are not’, ‘are too’ because they can do this for hours.” She waves the hairbrush in a small spiral. “It isn’t too late to decide to stay on your own tour bus.”
“And miss that really hilarious thing that your face does when you get really really annoyed? Not a chance.”
“My face doesn’t do anything when I’m annoyed.”
“It is doing the thing right now!”
“I’ll meet the two of you on the tour bus.” Icy dismisses herself.
“You’re not going to put a shirt on?” Darcy asks.
“Right…” Icy mutters. She peels herself out of Bloom’s hold. And plucks the first shirt that she finds out of her clothing trunk. It is a tube top with a rhinestone dagger across the chest. She is pretty sure that it belongs to Stormy but she will wear it anyhow. Serves her right for mixing up their trunks again in spite of a fourth lecture on not doing so.
Icy slips it over her head. It is only when she and Bloom are halfway to the tour bus that she recalls why she finds the wardrobe mixups so irritating. Everything Stormy wears fits so loosely on her. This top in particular requires her to hold it up and in place.
“Borrowing Stormy’s clothes?” Bloom guesses.
“Enduring Stormy’s clothes, more like. She’s always tossing her stuff into the wrong trunks! And then she wonders why she can’t find it. And Darcy and I have to deal with clothes that don’t fit us. I do anyways; Darcy and Stormy wear the same size. Sort of. Darcy is taller.”
And she is taller than Darcy. Taller and lankier.
“You wouldn’t have to endure them if you paid attention to what you are holding before you put it on.”
“Ugg, whatever.” Icy folds her arms across her chest. She will probably keep them there to hold the top in place. “Stormy and I will be having another talk about putting things where they belong. You don’t want to know how our tour bus used to look before Darcy and I started cracking down on that!”
“Wow! Stella and Tecna had the same talk with me!”
“Peters. If I let you onto my bus for the rest of this tour you better not leave it cluttered.”
“No promises.” Bloom offers her a mischievous little smile.
“I don’t want your dirty socks laying around, you little cretin.”
“Stella said the same thing! Mostly.”
Icy rolls her eyes. They round the corner to where their tour bus is parked and Icy comes to an abrupt halt. Bloom runs right into her. She doesn’t even feel compelled to scold the fairy to watch where she is going. Not when she spots Chalcedony waiting for her by the tour bus.
.oOo.
It is the Trix’s first show in Magix.
Their first real show anyhow. One that they are performing off of Cloud Tower’s campus. They may as well be on campus, most of the present audience consists of Cloud Tower witches—mostly freshmen but with a sprinkle of upperclassmen. But there are faces that Icy has never seen before, Cloud Tower graduates, venue regulars, and a handful of elder witches. It is quite an honor to perform for elder witches.
She aims to impress but not particularly to please.
She is done pleasing.
So long as their music sounds good to her own ears then she is content.
The Trix aren’t exactly meant to be a big thing.
At the very least they are meant to appeal only to a specific niche.
They open with a brand new song about murder.
They only play it twice after that.
Paranoia gets the better of Icy and she scraps it.
Just in case.
It has been months since she had stained her hands with blood but sometimes she still thinks about it. Sometimes in the form of dreams and sometimes in the form of nightmares where Valtor reaches out a bloated and decaying hand and pulls her into the realm of the dead to rot with him.
Sometimes, in these nightmares, she doesn’t succeed in killing him and he kills her instead; usually by chaining her up in a basement deprived of food until he is ready to stomp on her malnourished body, snapping ribs and the bones in her arms and then snapping her neck. He tells her that she is worthless and that he had never seen talent in her at all.
She only remembers that she doesn’t care when she wakes up.
She hasn’t dreamt of him in a good while.
Mostly she dreams about her new coven and her new band.
And in her waking moment she daydreams about where she would like to take her new band, about the fame that she would like to regain.
But for now she is perfectly comfortable here in this small venue with its horrible sound quality. The venu’s sound equipment makes her voice come out grainy. Sometimes the volume changes and the microphone screeches. But she uses that to her advantage. Improvises. Incorporates those harsh noises into their songs. And then later she and her sisters very deliberately recreate those songs with those sounds as a bonus album.
This earns them a lot of attention in the underground goth scene, on niche blogs and forum boards on niche websites that can only be found via word of mouth.
She hadn’t anticipated the Trix’s music gaining attention outside of these spaces.
But they had been discovered by some music blogger that she has never heard of. And that blogger had dragged their dark and shrouded little band into the light; hailing their album recreation as an edgy, unique, and creative glance into an underground scene.
A one of a kind project and sound that every music enthusiast should listen to, goth or not.
Icy has gotten very familiar with how a star is born.
The Trix are going to go far whether she wants the to or not.
She doesn’t.
But she very much does.
She yearns for fame and attention.
But she is comfortable here in the underground.

I haven't listened to the fireside episode yet as I'm behind on the podcast proper, but I just read the story version and holy shit. Some of the craziest elements of an actual party, but also, the bit about the men in robes absolutely kills me:
There were two shaven-headed men of Caucasian descent, wearing black hakama robes and some kind of pendants. They had white socks and sandals, and from the way people were bowing to them, I’m guessing they were some kind of religious officials, but I can’t be quite sure. Whatever faith they practiced, it wasn’t Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Baha’i, Taoism, Shinto, Confucianism, Voodoo, Wicca or the Dreamtime Faith of the Aboriginal Shamans. If I had to guess, I would say they were either members of the Illuminati, or we are living in the Matrix and they are priests from the remaining human city in the real, outer world. I don’t know what religion they were from. Do we get why that’s scary? Aside from the fact that a vast chunk of my education centered on world religions and mythology, religions really want you to know about them. That’s their whole business model. They tell you why things are the way they are and then you give them money. So the fact that there’s a religion that I’m too poor to know about is deeply troubling.
I so deeply understand now why the villains in all of Brennan's games are a symbol of Religion, Capitalism, or both.
"This Christmas Party Was So Fun That Now I’m a Communist"
Brennan Lee Mulligan's anti-capitalist origin story
(Link at the top and bottom)
In the the most recent Fireside Chat for World's Beyond Number (episode 7 "Kahuna", available on their Patreon), Erika prompts Brennan to talk about "that crazy Christmas party you went to".
Brennan recounts an experience from when he was struggling to get by as a young performer/writer in New York City. His day job was as a caterer, and they had been hired to cater an ultra-wealthy NYC Christmas Party. It's full of details of gross decadence, but focuses on on what affected him the most:
"The thing that really fucked me up [about that party was that] I was at a period in my life [living] in New York where I was like 'Yea, I'm really hungry and scared all the time, but I'm living the bohemian dream! I'm a struggling artist! When I go out on the weekend and I'm dancing with my friends, no one will ever feel the depth of joy I feel [because it comes from] struggling and grinding out here with my friends."
"[Then, at that Christmas party,] I saw those rich heirs and heiresses dance... and they were having a better time than me, and it wasn't close! I watched these rich people dance with the most reckless abandon, and their faces [wore an expression reflecting that] 'We're having a great time, uncomplicatedly! We're not examining this! It's so fun!'... and then I heard my stomach [growl]."
(Edited for clarity out of context. Please forgive me if you find the edits to be excessive.)
You can listen to the whole chat on the World's Beyond Number Patreon. It's $5 and they have only the one tier. If you're a fan of collaborative storytelling, it's worth at least one month for the Children's Adventure prequel campaign.
THAT SAID, he also wrote a fantastic short story about this experience that you can read on his website for free (linked at the top and bottom). If you've read this far, you should give it a read. Until the Fireside Chat, I wasn't sure if the story was a work of fiction or if it was inspired by something real.

Uses for the Pentacle
There are many names for this symbol but when used in Wicca it's usually referred to as a pentacle (star within a circle, one point facing up). Pentagram is another term for it but that often is reserved for the inverted version, which has been used for dubious purposes by some people. (With the top point facing down). Disclaimer: There are lots of quibbling of when the term pentagram should be used or if the one in the circle is the pentagram and the one floating free is the pentacle. For purpose of convenience I am using the most common Wiccan definitions in this post, which you may not consider to be technically correct but in the end it's all a matter of semantics.
Tumblr media
There's also a Free floating pentacle or pentangle (without the circle.)
Tumblr media
The weird, mid-twentieth century misconception is that the symbol is for invoking demons or is Satanic. The irony is that for centuries, some Christians used the pentacle as a ward against demons. Here are some of the many uses of the pentacle in pop culture. with sources. Disclaimer: Only 1, 2, 4, and 6 are based on spiritual beliefs. The bulk of this has to do with the symbol's use in modern media. 1. Symbolic meaning. A symbol of nature and one's connection to nature. Each point is an element. Water, Fire, Earth, air, and spirit (top point). The circle has many symbolic purposes including human will, control, nature / the world. And unity. The symbol was used in Ancient Greece, Rome, and spread to Celtic uses, and even some modern Asatru. It can mean both nature and magick, especially in religions where magick is the heart of nature such as in Wicca where nature and magick are treated as one and the same. 2. Protecting a home against demons. In Medieval Germany the pentacle was hung over doorframes to ward out evil, including demons. Here it was known as the Drudenfuss. In Goethe's Faust Part 1 (Published in the 1780s), it was the only symbol that could trap, ward off, or physically harm the demon Mephistopheles. (That and rose pedals). You can also find many medieval churches with pentacles in the stain glass windows. 3. General protection against Werewolves. Multiple purposes in regard werewolves. In the 1941 film The Wolfman The pentacle could ward off or harm a werewolf. Especially if the symbol was engraved in or carved in silver. According to some legends a pentacle will appear, like a birth mark, somewhere on the body of a werewolf to warn you of what they are. The werewolf will also see a pentacle on the person they are next likely to kill (or who they will turn into a werewolf) while in wolf form. This happens in both The Wolfman and in the TV series Dark Shadows. Meanwhile in The Wolfman and the TV Series Dark Shadows wearing a pentacle pendant can protect you from transforming into a wolf against your will if you happen to be a werewolf. A pentacle on the wall of a building might keep a werewolf out. This is true in the movie An American werewolf in London. Note: In The Wolfman the pentacle is within the circle but in Dark Shadows and in An American werewolf in London it's a free floating pentacle or pentangle, where there is no circle. It's likely that either would work. 4. Angelic protection against djinn. According to legend King Solomon was given a ring with a pentacle on it, by the archangel Michael to protect him from demons and djinn and granting him the power to bind them to his will. 5. Protection against vampires. In The Dresden Files novels and the short lived Dresden Files TV series, Harry Dresden uses his pentacle, instead of a cross, against the vampires. In many works of literature today a vampire is warded by any symbol of faith so long as the person using it has faith in it. Bonus if the symbol is made of silver and the style of vampire is vulnerable to silver (same with werewolves). 6. Protection against dark magick. A free-floating pentacle or pentangle made of Rowan twigs, and bound at the points with read string or ribbon, hung somewhere in the house, is supposed to protect against hexes and black magick being used against you. This is an old Gaelic folk belief. 7. A possible early sigil of Morpheus, the lord of Dreams. Though not from the original mythology, in Jill Thompson's Little Endless books, Morpheus's symbol is a five pointed star. This is likely what his sigil was before his helm in Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, since he had to have had a sigil before the helm. 8. General magical uses in warding, invoking, binding, banishing, and manifesting. (Note: in Wicca you are strictly forbidden from attempting anything that would harm another.)

A devotional image of Athena depicting her helmed head as seen often on ancient Athenian coinage. Athena, born from the mind of Zeus, is a goddess known to be wise in council and mighty in war. Poets and playwrights have described her as the commander of the Furies. She was patron of Athens (among other cities) in ancient days. In Homer’s Odyssey, she personally oversees the eponymous trickster’s journey home.
