A rant about distance

Distance is a puppet master controlling the Earth from above. Distance determines the orbit of the planets, distance from the sun decides the seasons, distance from the ground decides if a glass will shatter when it falls.

Physical distance between two souls decides between contentedness or longing. Emotional distance between the two can determine the prosperity or demise of a relationship, once so beautiful but now obscured by the space between them.

We are all puppets and Distance has its strings attached to me and you. They tie themselves around our necks like a noose just waiting for the right time to kick away the chair.

Because just when you think the universe is in sync, that summer has arrived, that the glass will remain intact, that you have finally found the one you love, Distance will look into your eyes and laugh as it pulls the strings, tearing you away from familiarity.

Just when you think you have conquered your greatest enemy, it will come back for you.
