With the theory that Crocodile is Rocks' kid i’m pretty sure it started off as Dragon being Rocks' kid

Because in post enies lobby Garp  refers to Dragon as ‘your dad’ not ‘my son’. Combine that, with the fact that Dragon kinda looks like Rocks’ silhouette .

And I’m pretty sure it just started as a small crack theory that spiralled out of control.  and then there was a flashback when he was fighting the Blackbeard pirates in which he refers to Dragon as his son. 

But by this point, people already loved the idea of rocks being Luffy’s grandfather  I so they just mashed  Dragon being Rocks' kid & crocomum theories together 

& I all of a sudden you have the theory the Crocodile is Rocks' kid

(Also, because this happened we before impel down and no one thought that crocodile was garp’s kid)

The first time I saw Rocks' silhouette (well, his hair especially) I also instantly thought of Dragon. It's still possible that Dragon isn't Garp's son but as you said, Garp did refer to Dragon as his son not that that means he has to be related to him by blood. Since Luffy is so similar to Garp, it's pretty likely that they are blood related though X'3

And it makes sense that the theories were combined to make this. It would also explain how Iva might know a secret Crocodile wants to keep. If Iva knows that he is Rock's child (son or daughter) because he might have seen him on God Valley that is quite a bit of leverage to hold over him. Revealing it would instantly put a huge target on Crocodile's back.

(Though from what we know of Iva and Croc's relationship it is likely that Iva doesn't just know a secret but has used their powers on Crocodile. I don't really know if changing Croc (back) into a woman would really have that much of a revealing impact compared to blurting out his lineage would, because nobody would expect Rocks' daughter to still be alive or know what she'd look like nearly 40 years later. Unless it took Crocodile a while to properly fake his death and assume a new identity. Long enough that there are images of Rocks' daughter as a teen or young adult, maybe. Then some people, like Sengoku, Garp and Whitebeard, would most likely recognize her.)
