After the Christmas of ‘85, all of the Christmas Crew are changed in subtle, but irrevocable, ways:

Bethany’s skin takes on a luminosity, imperceptible except in the darkest night. The glow is strongest around her hands, which are always a little warmer than the rest of her

Ralph always smells vaguely of peppermint. Additionally, his teeth stay perfectly healthy, no matter how much junk he eats or drinks

Trystan can now tell just from one interaction if someone is a good person or not. He swears there’s no trick to it, but if he really squints, he can see the faintest aura of “naughty” or “nice”. He generally uses this power to help his sister and friends avoid bad relationships

In addition to the elemental magic she still wields, Gwennie is all but impervious to the cold. The ice is also never as slick for her as it is for everyone else. She takes advantage of this later in life to do research down in Antarctica

Dylan makes virtually no noise when he walks anymore. That, combined with his newfound ability to see in the dark makes it far too easy for him to sneak into places he shouldn’t be (Bethany’s room, for example, with her permission of course)

It is literally impossible for Riley to get lost now. No matter how many wrong turns you make, if she’s with you, you’re getting to your destination with time to spare. The only exception is if she’s purposely trying to get you lost

Tanner is faster and stronger than he’s ever been, which is saying something. He’s not Superman or anything, but he does occasionally have to be reminded that “no, Tanner, regular people can’t just lift a car”
