stopping to take a break to get some food and am Thinking while my food cooks. Now that it's abundantly clear Jigoku is super suspicious, I'm coming back around to thinking Kazuma's mission was more than purely personal and he was assigned to be the Reaper's new assassin by Jigoku (the List is starting to make sense!!!). Which also means Kazuma was partly lying during the conversation in his office in case 4 when he made his mission sound entirely personal. I wonder how much truth there was in the part about him receiving the letter mentioning his dad's crimes and how Jigoku laughed it off like a joke. That feels like it wouldn't be an anecdote Kazuma would fabricate, because it'd be very personal and painful, but. hm.

hmmmmmm guess what I've just thought about: an actual plausible reason for Kazuma hypothetically having faked the amnesia if that was indeed a thing, which whoops I guess I'm still leaving open the possibility of actually. For as long as Stronghart believed he had amnesia, he wasn't going to ask Kazuma to kill anybody. If Kazuma had no intention of ever carrying out the assassination (and of course he didn't), then that's the perfect way to put it off without arousing suspicion. Then I imagine him choosing the moment he did to hypothetically fake remembering everything would be out of a combination of having heard Gregson would be transferring soon, and the truth of the Professor case finally beginning to come to light such that he needed to be able to act with more agency to investigate that.

still can't believe this entire story's plot happened because Kazuma nominally agreed to go and assassinate someone halfway across the world. Like, I'd been increasingly suspecting he was some kind of assassin somehow, he straight-up admitted it in the latest court section, and yet I was still floored by realising just how important that was to the everything. It's literally the only reason Ryunosuke's in England. Kazuma must have known and been hiding it the whole time from before the beginning of the game. I'd been worrying that the Secret List's true nature would be kind of a letdown and not actually matter that much after how much I'd been trying to make sense of it, but it sure delivered.

Also I love the narrative bookending of how Exchange Assassination #1 was the very first murder case in the game, and now Exchange Assassination #2 (or something that looks like that) is the very last murder case in the game. Really brings it full circle.

He seemed like a decent guy when we got to actually meet him and I totally didn't suspect him at all until quite close to when it became apparent he was super corrupt. Also, see what I just speculated about him being threatened and not actually as on board with all this as he might seem.

how abouuttt fluffy scenario of kazuma with a very quiet and serious reader (he/him) that he looks scary to people who don't know him well, but when kazuma gets to know him better, reader starts to open up more to him, and is actually really goofy, likes to joke/mess around and love to ramble about anything that caught his interests!! he's quiet because he's insecure that he would talk too much and annoy people

kazuma loves a good challenge in my opinion so when you come into his life he takes it upon himself to get to know you and break your hard shell to get into the gooey goodness.

once in an established relationship kazuma finds it adorable that you're so.... the opposite of him. he finds it cute how you slowly take your time to get used to his more warm personality.

he's really welcoming and doesn't mind if you're so stoic and quiet ! again, he finds it quite adorable.

it's rare but when you both have fully blown out cuddle sessions together it warms both of your hearts. it's a great way to get you to unwind and warm up to your loveable boyfriend.

and it's a perfect environment for you to ramble your heart out, kazuma is all here for it.

he holds you gently yet with a firm grip so you know that he's there for you.

sighing, you nuzzle your face into the crook of his neck, surprising him at the sudden movement.

"i love moments like these," you mumble into his collar. kazuma takes a moment to register your words (he's a bit flustered with your words but he wouldn't admit it to your face) and chuckles, a low chuckle that you can feel the vibrations of throughout his body.

"oh? is that so ?" he hesitates before gently stroking your hair, not knowing how you'll take to such an action.

you didn't mind the affection ! it was soft and not overwhelming for you, so much so that it made you blush a gentle shade of pink and made sure your head was buried in your boyfriend's collar or else you'd probably be teased for it with no end.

"mhm.. feels good to unwind." you were a man of little words, but kazuma didn't mind it in the slightest. stroking your hair some more, he rested his chin on top of your head, "i don't feel like this often."

kazuma hummed, "well you are on the more serious type, righ t? you take your work seriously. it's nice to take a break once in a while."

"well yeah buuuut... ahh you're right, i missed taking to you kazumaaaa.." you took your head out of kazuma's collar to pout at him, your blush worsening with kazuma laughing at your silliness.

"hahaha ! you are adorable aren't you, y/n?"

kazuma was such a tease, you seemed to hate it on the outside but it made you feel like putty on the inside. his words made you collapse onto his body once again as he continued laughing at your cute form.

"you're silly, you're so silly to say such a thing !" you retorted, "my, but it seems that it's you who's the silly one around here, y/n. i think you look cute with that blush on you."

you huffed but couldn't help yourself and laugh afterwards, gently hitting kazuma on his arm (with a fake wince from him) and laughed a little more at the noise.

"ahaha ! can't call me silly now that you're wounded, dear kazuma!" sticking out your tongue at him, kazuma whines in 'defeat'.

after some more cuddle sessions you take the spotlight and start to talk about whatever you're interested about at the time.

it astounds kazuma with how much your brain can take in, it's impressive ! and with every word that comes out of your mouth makes it harder for kazuma to resist kissing you and squeezing the life out of you.

"it's so interesting, kazuma ! i could go on forever about it but i wouldn't want you to fall asleep with all this information being crammed in your head.."

kazuma kisses you tenderly on the lips, "no, keep going. i would love to hear more if it interests you so much." he smiles at you as he hoists you up closer to his face, grinning ear to ear.

your soft and goofy personality is such a contrast to your usual persona you have for when you meet other people.

thinking about it, kazuma feels super lucky that he's the only one that sees this side of you !

cuddling and letting you ramble is honestly like free therapy for him (and we all know he needs it badly).
