CH.1 | TRIAL | O'MALLEY | 討議 [RE: VIXEN, DAWSON, BULLY] [ATTN: DAWSON]
Even more wasted time, just like O'Malley’s pity party.
When Vixen said that, it seemed to strike a chord. O'Malley spent a while just sitting there with all sorts of emotions flicking across his face, until suddenly...
"Fuck..."
O'Malley didn't slam the table like more and more of them were wont to do as tensions rose. But he did bury his hands in his hair as he stared down at the table's surface. But his words were clear to hear.
"Vixen... Again, I'm sorry. I've been fucking up, haven't I...? Sorry, you'll probably be mad that I'm wasting more time, but... I feel like I gotta say... That talk you gave me in your room meant a lot to me. I haven't been able to change how I act around men and women right away, but... I'm trying."
Finally, he looked up at her.
Tumblr media
"I've been throwing information and theories out there without the guts to accuse anyone...because I still don't want to make any trouble for girls. But I keep shooting myself in the foot getting pissed off at boys. I don't know if I'm actually going to be able to bring myself to vote... But I want to do right by Chirin. And I want to do right by you, too. I want to cut the bullshit. I'm gonna try."
He took a deep breath. And he went on listening.
If you would actually listen for once, instead of writing off everything I say as meaningless drivel, perhaps we’d actually get somewhere.
But the fact that none of you are willing to even so much as consider what I have said based on that transgression alone is not just apathetic, it’s outright ignorant.
"Pfft. Welcome to the club, Dawson."
...Okay he couldn't help that one bit of nonsense.
O'Malley perked up when Bully began to reassure him, but...
I think I’m gonna have to agree that it makes more sense for the killer’s room to be in the Classics building.
O'Malley's head snapped straight back to look up to the void ceiling with exasperation, his lingering chronic simping being the only thing holding him back from groaning out a 'Whyyyy thouuuuuugh?'
He kept staring up for a moment in thought, and then he straightened back up.
Tumblr media
"Bully...I hate to say it, but...you just contradicted yourself. You just said that you think it's more likely that the killer lives in the Classics building, and then you said you're still considering Campion as the culprit. Campion lives in the Modern building."
Tumblr media
"But on that topic... I'm gonna listen to you, Bully, and to Pan, too. I'm gonna make myself heard. Dawson and I have contradicting points of view, but we were on the same investigation team. What the hell's with that."
O'Malley snapped his fingers and pointed straight towards Dawson in one motion.
"Dawson. You keep whining about everyone not listening to you. I admit I am too, but at least I try to refute people. I tried to address you directly with my arguments towards the killer being from Modern, but you ignored me. You're not gonna ignore me this time. Real courtrooms have debates, don't they? Let's debate."
O'Malley's brow furrowed more deeply and he leaned further in Dawson's direction.
"First of all, I agree with Chuck for once, lay off of Knuckles. Not even because she's a girl and we investigated together and she's my friend. Not because of that at all. Knuckles wouldn't need a knife or magic to hurt Chirin. Knuckles is a kickboxer. Even if she could make rocks rise from the ground, she wouldn't need to block off the pool. Knuckles is physically fit enough that she wouldn't be at a disadvantage if Chirin escaped into the water, Chirin would be. Because of all the trickery and magic tricks and knives and Chirin falling off of platforms and whatnot, I think we should start considering that athletic people are less likely to be the killer in this case. And furthermore, Knuckles lives in Classics, which clears her by my assertion."
O'Malley smirked and leaned back slightly in his chair, crossing his arms.
"I'm sticking to that assertion. Time to debate. I'm going to lay out the evidence as to why I think the killer lives in Modern, and then I want you to refute my claims and then lay out why you think the killer lives in Classics."
He raised one hand and pointed his index finger straight up.
"One. The sandy footprints end at the monorail entrance, punctuated by that second burst of sparkling sand. The physical evidence points to the killer exiting the murder scene by monorail."
He raised a second finger.
"Two. The sandy footprints were never cleared away. If the killer lived in Classics, they would have had to pass through the lobby again after they left by monorail. There's no sign anyone disturbed that scattered sand before we discovered Chirin."
And he raised a third finger.
"Three. If the killer lived in Classics, and passed through the lobby to go back to their room, they would have had to ignore blatant evidence against them in the form of those footprints. Those footprints were not cleaned away. Therefore I assert that the killer never returned to the Classics lobby after they went home to Modern by monorail."
O'Malley leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table as he continued to smirk at Dawson.
"Well, Dawson? Refute me."

Salt N’ Pepper Spray
Tumblr media
ATTN: FLIP-FLOP HEART-THROB ON THE LOOSE. STATUS: DISARMING AND DECIETFUL. LADIES, RECOGNIZE THE WARNING SIGNS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE. You know the story, heard it a million times before. He’s your favorite older male actor. You fell for him time and time again over his illustrious imdb history, followed him the whole way though every story arc, every plot twist, every season finale. He would never steer you wrong. He would never hurt you. He is Incapable. Most of the time, he’ll be guy on the right. Smart. Funny. Sophisticated. Quirky enough to trust, fine enough to lust. Every time he walks into a scene, your face lights up and your heart flutters and you can’t wait to see him again. But then. Out of nowhere, guy on the left emerges. Rude. Stubborn. Moody. Throwing all his weight behind a point you never expected him to make. Acting well beyond his character’s usual and steadfast morality. Slicing through you with uncalled for shade and sarcasm. Dispelling your previous trust in guy no. 1 altogether. You’ve heard the story before.  You just never thought it would be YOURS. All across American Television, millions just like you are suffering the traumatizing effects of being Salt n’ Pepper Sprayed. Silver foxes on the silver screen are continually luring innocent women into the throes of fandom betrayal, with little to no accountability for their heinous emotional crimes. If you or a loved one has been fictionally hurt by him or a man like him, be aware, and don’t hesitate to act. Our representatives are standing by. You may be entitled to legal and/or financial compensation, don’t wait, call now!

Rules: Tell me your favorite character from 10 fictional works (Movies, books, TV shows, video games, comics, etc.) and tag 10 people!
Tagged by @jazthespazz, one of the best mutuals who tagged me in this and I’m only now seeing it after looking at my activity. Thank you so much!
Remus Lupin from Harry Potter (book/movie)--I love my professor who was also a marauder who completely helped changed the series from “aww a poor magical orphan” to “oh crap your parents were martyrs and they had friends who loved them and protected them and you never should have had this life your life was meant to be so much better”. Remus helped usher in a whole new level of meaning for the series. Not to mention he’s a kind, selfless character who does his best.
Belle from Fairytales (books/movie)--So I’m a sucker for every Beauty and the Beast adaptation to ever exist. I just love the idea, I love the stories, and I love Belle/Beauty in every one of those.
Rose Tyler from Doctor Who (TV)--Rose was my first companion and my favorite. She’s just a random shop worker, a nobody off the streets, who is sucked into the Doctor’s world. But, as we see again with Martha and Donna, she’s more than that. She’s compassionate, and caring, and stubborn, and determined. She learns how to get through dimensions because she’s so stubborn/determined. And I’ll admit I’m a shipper of Doctor x Rose, which just barely keeps Rose above Donna for me.
Steven from Steven Universe (TV)--this little kid has been through so much and has so many expectations but he continues to smile and be kind to people. He gives people the benefit of the doubt when he has every reason to be distrusting. He’s hope, plain and simple, & I love that.
Rey from Star Wars (movie)--Alright so I love Star Wars, I love Obi-Wan, I love Chirrut, I love lightsabers and Jedi and Sith. But I have to pick Rey, because despite how much I loved Obi-Wan’s sass and his and Anakin’s relationship, I go to theme parks a lot. And I see a lot of kids there and over the past couple years I’ve been able to see little girls who now have an option beyond ‘princess’. Without fail I’ve seen mini Rey’s every time I go to the park, and, on Halloween, I saw a bunch of older women, including a white haired grandmother, dressed up as Rey. Rey showed that we can be the mythical chosen one who the lightsaber flies toward. We can be sandy and grimy, AND help pilot the Millennium Falcon. It didn’t just give me a well known female Jedi, it gave it to all those children, all those older ladies. They don’t have to genderbend Anakin or Luke to be ‘the chosen one’ they get to be Rey, and that’s amazing.
Persephone from Mythology (various)--just, yes.
Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn (video game)--what’s that? A video game protagonist who’s a believable person? Who has ‘choice options’ but each option still directly lines up with her characterization? Yes, it’s true. Aloy is a witty, slightly jaded protagonist who proves females aren’t too hard to render! She’s been shunned her whole life by her tribe and then is the savior of the very people who shunned her, and instead of just going “this is great! Okay I’ll help!” she’s BITTER, and more importantly SHE’S ALLOWED TO BE BITTER.  SHE’S ALSO ALLOWED TO HAVE CROOKED TEETH AND I’M SO ABOUT IT. But overall, she doesn’t let that bitterness stop her from helping others; she cares about strangers. She’s curious and when she discovers things she reacts to them. She gets overwhelmed and sad and confused. Aloy is wonderful.
Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle (book/movie)--she’s bold, brave, kind, and has a “do no harm but take no shit” attitude. And she grows (literally) into her boldness, into her bravery, into a wonderful self-love that I’ve really tried to take to heart myself.
Kvothe from Name of the Wind (book)--here’s a guy who struggles, and it’s not pretty, it sucks a lot of the time, it’s humiliating more often than he’d like, but he uses that to make beautiful music, he uses it as fuel to continue to drive himself forward and oh god he’s still hopeful but he’s also not and the final book is going to destroy me and whyyyy isn’t it out and I just like him :)
Andrew Minyard from The Foxhole Court (book)--alright this sucker is last because he’s one of the most well developed characters I’ve ever come across. Andrew is an asshole, you finish the first book HATING Andrew, loathing him even. He’s a dick and the book makes no apologies for it. Then you continue to read and you find out why he’s a dick. And it doesn’t excuse what he does, but it helps you understand him, it softens your anger into understand and does so masterfully. Because yeah he’s an asshole, but he’s fiercely protective and loyal, which drives a lot of his asshole actions. He’s just a wade of messed up that, in the end, is only going because he cares about other people so much.
(so I wasn’t supposed to describe why I love them but I had to)  Tagging, if you want to: @jedirangerpenguin, @chrysalis-bows, @master-lorren, @sparkseptic, @idioticlines, @ecoald, @gingercaptainamerica
