no bc lee joon rlly doing the most w this character like it’s highlighted in this scene for me bc it’s w the kid who also has some obvious abandoment/attachment issues going on but like w ok eultae there’s these small, almost imperceptible flashes of........loneliness? real pain? like underneath, buried so deep and almost like a lingering ghost after a thousand years, there’s still whoever he used to be before whatever happened w the female lead + the last thousand years that have made him nuttier than a fruitcake like the way he looks at the kid as he gets up to leave and says “what about me...
also usually when a character lies like he does here when he says “okay, i won’t do that” it feels SO obvious but here.......i want to believe him like he feels so sincere in that moment, so young.....like genuinely sheepish and apologetic like obviously he’s gonna do it again bc he’s the bad guy but like he seems so SINCERE in that moment that i totally understand why the kid believes him
#like there's smth almost............childlike about his character? that's so interesting#videos#bulgasal#bulgasal immortal souls#lee joon#lee changsun#f: bulgasal#p: lee joon#like thiis isn't me trying to poor meow meowify him it's just a rlly interesting subtle thing i've noticed

what do you personally think of the romance int bulgasal? I initially had no problem if they went for one but the writing for it is so bad? and somehow the actors have no chemistry with each other I just feel uncomfortable watching them 😅
Helloooo~~~
hahaha well well....I know there's been a lot of debate and hate about the mains but ok here's my long train of thoughts 🤣
1) When I first saw the trailer, I didn't think the normal romance will fit. And I didn't want that either because the whole premise was more of misunderstandings, revenge and if there's love, it's not gonna be a typical happy ending. We're talking complications, frustrations and angst.
2) Which brings me to my second point that I personally don't think the romance was thaatt bad. Why? Because, I think the lack of chemistry makes sense. I do expect better writing,I agree with you that the writing was kinda lost. It would be better if the sequence of plot build up/ revelation was conveyed better. I would say restrain of emotions makes sense for me because Hwal has been brought up to always feel like he didn't deserve love, he was hated, he didn't deserve anything nice. He was never one to express his emotions, and he was wary but he became super, extra wary all those 600yrs. While we have Sangwoon who has always been the cheerful twin, the positive twin who had no recollection of her half's past. But it's her personality to be the cheerful, caring twin.(It is unfortunate that they made her to be too damsel in distress at times. Like she’s more than that but that’s another story lol) So when they meet, it's like a spark talking to a wall. If you notice he's only soft to people he knew last time (Siho, Detective Kwon and Lee Hye Suk.) In his eyes, Sangwoon is his mortal enemy, which he can't seem to just kill because of multiple interruptions lmao. And he slowly opens up to her, telling her about his past and inner thoughts.
3) I think that's why people are saying how there's no chemistry and like yourself you feel uncomfortable watching them. I understand, people interpret things differently. For me, this is the ultimate slow burn and that works for me. Hwal is really like a brick wall externally. He is also dense and can't understand love. Back to how he interrogated Sangwoon for the things she said and why she likes him because there can't be any reason for it. But Sangwoon is someone who unexpectedly has become his listener, his companion, she slowly carved out that wall and also accepted him at his worst when he became bulgasal to fight eultae's secretary.
4) And that's why their interaction in the latest eps works for me but I was hoping it to happen earlier. He is more used to the found family, Sangwoon is confirmed to not be his enemy. She has also become one of the person he wants to protect.
That was super long hahahahah i'm sorry I babbled too much. I do still blame the writers for not being able to convey the supposed romance properly or the WHOLE plot. And for not writing a more fuller FL cos she’s really wayy moreeeee than that, what’s she so mysterious for!
#bulgasal#ask#anon#answered#i'm bad at words so i hope it's coherent#i hope we enjoy the last 4 eps!!#thank you for dropping by#i probably made no sense#❤️❤️❤️

"do you want to be like ok eultae?????"
okay what does that mean tho. like i'm realizing that eultae rlly is such a weak villain like he's done villain stuff in general but like. idk how to phrase this. it feels like "he's bad bc he's bad" or "he's bad bc he's ok eultae" like there's no depth to his villainy rlly like this character is begging for friendship and redemption like this character does not want to be the big bad but they're forcing him into that role anyway idk smth abt it is just leaving a bad taste in my mouth too like WHY is he bad. what did he actually do wrong. it feels like the show is refusing to acknowledge that a thousand years ago the leads wronged eultae. like lee joon is giving a way too compelling and sympathetic performance for such one-dimensional writing like idk i'm having complicated thoughts abt this but idk how to phrase it
