Chapter 4 of 6
‘I must ask this of you – will you go with me to the office of the notary.’
Nesta paused from her needlework beside the window to offer him a wary glance. ‘Why?’
Eris could not deny that their prior engagements had not been particularly uplifting. From exhuming a body to meeting the Witch of the Woods. There was no other that he could trust in Sleepy Hollow. No other with such a steady heart and stability either.
‘I expect to find the last will and testament of the younger Van Garrett amongst the notary’s paperwork.’
‘You have thought of something.’
‘The Widow Briar would visit Tamlin often with a basket of eggs despite having hens roaming about their own property. I believe she carried the younger male’s child.’
Nesta cocked a brow. ‘And the others?’
Eris took a seat beside her, his knee brushing against her own. ‘Lucien was a friend of Tamlin. Perhaps a witness to the wedding. Bron, a servant of the household and perhaps privy to the knowledge.’ He gave a sigh. ‘And the midwife perhaps knew of Briar’s condition. Her husband and son’s deaths were a consequence of that knowledge.
Nesta pondered this for a moment then gave her customary severe nod. ‘From my window, I saw somebody leaving town last night, heading towards the woods. I was reading,’ she explained. ‘All I saw was their lantern, but even the night’s watch do not head to the woods – and they seemed to time their departure with the shift changeover.’
For all of the supernatural occurrences, there was still a logical underpinning to it all that Eris was desperate to unravel.
‘I believe the Horseman does the killing at the bidding of a mortal, someone of flesh and blood.’
She stood then, rising almost as tall as he was. Her slender frame moved closer. ‘Why do you think such a thing?’
‘The crone in the woods pointed us to what drives Jurian – his skull has been stolen from his grave. The person who stole it has power over the Horseman. He chops heads until his own is restored to him.’
‘But who would do such a terrible thing?’
Eris’s face darkened. ‘One who stands to gain from the murders.’
Together, they crossed the village which was in a state of alarm. Many flocked to the church to seek counsel and sage advice from the Reverand Helion, while many more packed up belongings with the mind to flee until such horrors no longer plagued Sleepy Hollow.
The notary, a quiet male with dark hair stopping around his chin, was notably unravelled at their arrival. He made a sign of the cross upon his chest then slid a piece of paper towards them.
‘I believe this is what you wish to see. Take it and go,’ Thesan urged.
Eris took it and broke the wax seal. His eyes scanned the lettering while Nesta peered over his arm to do the same. He was conscious of her body so close to his own.
‘Atwell Van Garrett left his estate to his only next of kin, that is to say,’ said Thesan, ‘to his son, Tamlin. However, the son being murdered in the same instant…’
‘It leaves his betrothed as the one to inherit the fortune. None other than Lady of Sleepy Hollow.’
Nesta peeled back, eyes widening from the news.
Thesan nodded earnestly. His hands trembled. ‘There you have it. I should like you to leave now.’
‘But they did not marry.’ Whilst Nesta made to turn, Eris caught her by the elbow, holding her firm. ‘You are in terror Thesan Hardenbrook. There is something else. You fear for your life from the Horseman. Just as Lucien did then the Horseman came for him.’
‘We were drawn in,’ he hissed. ‘We did not know it was a murder plot.’
‘Drawn in by whom,’ pressed Eris.
Again, Thesan made the sign of the cross. ‘Mercy upon me. We meant no harm upon her.’
‘Who? The name.’
‘The marriage made her next of kin instead.’
Nesta gave a soft gasp. ‘He means that Tamlin secretly married Briar.’
‘Yes,’ Eris breathed, the pieces of the puzzle finally fitting into place. ‘And the Van Garretts made a new will, leaving everything to Briar and her unborn child in the event of their deaths. So, she stood between Feyre and her fortune.’
‘My sister would not do such a thing,’ protested Nesta.
Without invitation, Eris began rifling through cupboards until he happened upon the new will. It had been signed by both father and son. There, as witness, was Bron – the fourth victim of the Horseman.
‘But Briar’s secret was not safe,’ muttered Eris. ‘You concealed the documents. You aimed to keep it hidden. But… Viviane knew. She must have been informed by Briar that she was growing a child in her womb. And word passed to her husband, Kallias.’ Eris shook his head. ‘All of you involved with hiding such a secret… your lives are in danger. And why would you do it? So that Feyre Van Tassel can inherit such a fortune?’
‘I have said it once already,’ Nesta cut in, voice icy. ‘My sister would not do such a thing.’
‘We must not let our emotions cloud our judgement, Miss Van Tassel.’
Without another word, Nesta departed from the notary’s office. He watched her go, heart in his stomach. Logically, all of the signs pointed to her sister. Matters of blood were never easy to disentangle from logic. When Eris had apprehended the Lady of Sleep Hollow with a full confession, perhaps her sister would forgive him. Or perhaps she would hate him.
***
When Eris joined the family for breakfast, Nesta was not to be seen. Only her two sisters joined him at the table, their servants moving with a ghostly presence to ensure all cups were filled and that empty plates were swiftly removed from eyesight.
‘The town is in ferment,’ Lord Rhysand announced as he entered. His head shook. ‘Horror piled on tragedy. Thesan is dead. Strangled.’
Feyre gasped and covered her mouth. ‘That harmless man?’
‘Hanged himself in the night.’
‘Hanged himself?’ If Eris had known that the man had such a disposition, he would not have left him alone that night.
‘Even Azriel has departed, amongst others, to seek safety.’
Elain’s food was mostly untouched upon her plate. She had picked at it for the duration of their breakfast, eating little but performing autopsies on each item. ‘A sore loss to the village to lose its magistrate.’
‘Indeed. The Reverend Helion has called a meeting at the church tonight. Every man, woman, and child.’ With a look of reproach, Rhysand added, ‘He will speak against you. A stranger to Sleepy Hollow and the murders have only increased. His congregation is halfway to being a mob, good sir.’
‘I will go when I have done what I came to do.’
Feyre regarded him warily then moved to her husband’s side. ‘I am afraid for our village.’
‘As am I, darling. But like all storms, we must weather this one.’
He slipped an arm around his wife’s waist.
‘What happened?’
Feyre held the hand on her waist where a bandage had been wrapped around his palm.
‘I dropped my hunting knife and thought to catch it before it hit the ground,’ he said, tittering.
Eris stood, abandoning his breakfast. ‘Pray, tell me where is your eldest sister. I must speak to her with utmost haste.’
‘Still abed,’ said Feyre.
Elain, the quieter one of the pair, shook her head gravely. ‘No. I saw her depart this morning for the woods.’
That news unsettled Eris greater than any of the murders. Without hesitating, he strode from the house and mounted Gunpowder without a saddle, only reins, to be there quicker. She had shown her bravery many times by acting alongside him, but to enter the woods alone was surely madness.
He raced through the tangling branches. The reins cut into the flesh of his palms, so tightly he gripped them. He could think of no place that Nesta would go beside her old home; she was the sister who remembered it most.
There she was – his prediction correct. A small fire curled over a piece of parchment and a turret of smoke spiralled upwards.
‘I went to the crone in the woods,’ she said, without looking round.
‘And did you find what you sought?’
Nesta was upon her knees by the hearth.
‘She is dead. Her head taken.’
His brows raised. ‘The Horseman?’
‘There was blood. Lots of blood.’
Then it couldn’t have been the Headless Horseman for his sword burnt like a furnace, hot enough to cauterize the carotid arteries before they could spray blood.
Nesta added another piece to the fire. Not a log, but parchment.
‘What have you done?’ Eris took another look, his gaze snagging on the pool of wax upon the hearth. ‘You have burnt Tamlin Van Garrett’s wills.’
‘I have – so you will not have them to accuse my sister.’
‘Nesta, I accuse no one – but if there is guilt then I cannot alter if, no matter how much it grieves you or dare I say me.’ He reached for her hand. It was colder than usual. The tips of her fingers felt ready to drop off.
‘If you knew my sister, you would not have such harsh thoughts about her – nor if you felt anything for me.’
Torment wound through his chest. He cared deeply for this woman in such a short space of time and the anguish upon her beautiful face was as lethal as a knife through his heart.
‘I am pinioned by a chain of reasoning. Why else would the village elders conspire to conceal the new-’
‘You are the constable, not I,’ she cut in. ‘Find another chain of reasoning and let me be.’
‘I cannot,’ vowed Eris. ‘Not the one or the other. I am heartsick with it.’
‘I think you have no heart,’ she said, releasing herself from his grasp. ‘And I had a mind once to give you mine.’
Nesta mounted her horse swiftly. It reared up, front hooves kicking at nothing. There was anger in those silver eyes and tears too.
‘I think you loved me that day you came with me to the forest,’ Eris called. ‘You braved such peril for me.’
Nesta gave a rough laugh. ‘What peril was there for me if it is my own sister controlling the Horseman? Goodbye Eris Crane. I curse the day you came to Sleepy Hollow.’

Episode 44 - My Papycha, the Secondhand Dealer (Part 1)
I'm very normal about this episode, but thankfully, all the writings to translate will probably distract me from the need to gush about Kerubim and Joris's love for one another.
The text on the left says "PAPYCHAT!". Usually, "!" means "M" in Amaknean, but I think Joris is just very enthusiastic.
The text on the right says "BROCANTE". It means "secondhand store". Also, there's a kama there. Cute :)
"HACHE" (axe) and "BONG" (??????????????????????????????????...probably onomatopoeia for the sound that contraption he drew makes.
Doesn't make Joris writing "bong" any less funny.)
A literal bear has entered a literal china shop. Warning, warning!
To my memory, this is one of the two times old Kerubim cries during the series, the first time being when he thinks Joris will be stuck for the rest of his life in the Heads for No Tails restraint.
I think he should be legally allowed to kill that pandawa guy.
I do think he loves them, but also, something tells me, a vase that took 20 years to make probably costs an amount of money that I don't even want to fucking imagine.
"VIEUX VASE" (old vase)
WHEN WILL JORIS'S REIGN OF EVIL END? Did he steal that piece?!
Though, it seems that even without it, the vase was still restored, — because, judging from all the cracks on it, the photo was taken after The Incident. I guess this story has a happy ending, despite the missing piece.
Photo of the clock: "REVEIL" (alarm, waking up) Bottle 1: "ELIXIR" Bottle 2: "BONBON" (candy) Bottle 3: "MIEL" (honey)
(the clock itself reads "5AM". Maybe Kerubim's alarm. I doubt he makes Joris, who isn't in education, wake up so early. Or maybe Joris wakes up at 5AM and then goes back to sleep. That would be the funnier possibility.)
This action will have consequences.
DO YOU SEE WHAT I TOLD YOU ABOUT JORIS AND HIS NEED FOR ROUTINES AND HATING BEING TOLD TO GO TO SLEEP?
It's obvious that Kerubim is just trying to get him to stop asking, Joris knows that, — and it's generally always why he's being asked to go to sleep early.
The text says: "PIERRE MAGI(Q)UE" (magic stone), with "Q" (::) being accidentally replaced by "N" (:)
Joris's guesses for this thing are: "Is this a ball?", "Is this a thing to do sport with to get muscles?", "Is this a geode?" and "Is this an egg?"
Truly, he is a dedicated thinker.
"VIDE GRENIER" (attic sale)
The first two vinyls say "GUST PRODUCTION" and "SADGUIRAM#2" respectively, while the third one says "ROMAIN".
The existence of vinyls also implies the existence of bands and their fans. We already know that, and all, but this still means a lot.
I wonder if slavery has always been a thing in the World of Twelve, or if it came back in style after centuries of being out of style only in Waven. Love their nonchalant response to it, too.
Chances are, this is just normal.
SEE WHAT I MEAN WHEN I TELL YOU JORIS IS A NIGHT OWL? He is NOT good at being awake early.
I also am beginning to suspect Kerubim is a morning person, unlike Joris. hdfkghsdgf.
Kerubim makes buying things a sort of a game for them to play together, to educate Joris on how to be a salesman in the future and continue their family business, but in the process pretty much hugs him and also look at Joris's face and then hand on shoulder car door man hook car and and um and [CAR CRASH] [GLASS SHATTERING] ‘GOOD LORD!’ [GENERAL COMMOTION] [BABY CRYING] ‘WAAAAH WAAAAH’ [YELLING] [POLICE SIRENS] WEEWOO WEEWOO [HELICOPTERS] ‘WE’RE REPORTING LIVE-‘ [EXPLOSION] ‘MY LEG… MY LEG…’
Yeah I'm okay./ (starts foaming.)
"LUIS"
Joris... I have some amazing news from the future. You'll never guess.
At heart, Kerubim is an optimist, and Joris is a pessimist, and they've always been that way, even as kids. I think it's cute that they both have these contrasting characteristics, and that they've had them their whole lives.
It makes them both really like each other, — but also, probably makes them annoy each other to death, across the 600 years of coexistence.

Francis Clara Censordoll is my fav character idec anymore
I'm gonna be so honest; I love Ms. Censordoll. I've been thinking about this ever since I watched s3e3 "Alone", and she seems like such an interesting character to analyze and interpret. I want to see how she came to be so religiously corrupt, and how that affects her mentally. I've heard that it's because her mother herself was a r@pe victim, and thought that Ms. Censordoll was going to be the next god, and that was why she had her daughter's ovaries and reproductive system removed, which does make sense. She lost her own choice to become a mother, and turned down a road of corruptivity and dragged down everybody with her because it was what she thought the right thing to do was. Though, I've also heard a theory that she was amab (assigned male at birth) and had her eggs removed because of that reason? Like the doctors hadn't seen any breasts developing since she was an infant, her mom decided to raise her as a boy and the next god. Which makes a bit less sense, but still a credible headcanon/fanon theory that I find fascinating. If the show hadn't been canceled, I feel like we would've gotten so many more answers, and I'm honestly sad that the show and is creators never got to bring other characters' stories in that episode like Nurse Bendy and Ms. Sculptham to full fruition, and we lost that opportunity to Adult Swim and time. Either way, I feel so captivated to her character for many more reasons. How did she find out her eggs were removed? Did her mother tell her? Does her mom feel guilty because of it? Is that why she's so overprotective? And Ms. Censordoll's obsession with eggs makes me feel so bad for her. She yearns for something she knows she doesn't and will never have, wishing she could've stopped her mom somehow and had her own decisions and been able to live her life like she wanted to. She had that taken away from her, and she still can't grasp it, eating nothing but eggs and praying that it'll somehow restore her own. I wonder if she truly feels the way she acts. If she has a god complex because of her mom, then is there still a piece of her who breaks down in the middle of the night because she's so tired of lying to herself and becoming a worse and worse person with every breath she takes, but goes on because she's simply too far gone? How does she feel mentally and physically about her body and her relationship with her mother? The few seconds that she had in that last episode where she just took an egg and placed it near where hers should've been and lied down on her bed in her likely one-room apartment hurt me and impacted me the most during her bit in the episode.
Her character breaks my heart, and I really wish we could've seen more of her.
#shower thoughts#francis clara censordoll#ms censordoll#moral orel#man i love her#mazoie?? thinking???? no way#i could go on for hours about francis clara censordoll and not get bored#semi/mini character breakdown#ill probably make another one of these out of sheer pure love for ms censordoll#what can i say#shes babygirl

I was tagged by @plothooksinc!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
None yet, but I'm actively working on some WIPs I hope to finish (or start posting, in the case of the multichap) soon.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
Big ol' goose egg due to the above.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
It's pretty much turtles all the way down, babes. Of what fics I've actually posted (on ff.net), it's TMNT 2003 and I think two Naruto one-shots. These days Rise owns my entire brain and comprises all of my current WIPs.
4. Top five fics by kudos?
See response to question 1, lol.
5. Do you respond to comments?
YES! I love replying to comments/reviews. It was one of my favorite things about fic writing when I was still doing it regularly (college age me, where did all that energy and executive function go). I have major imposter syndrome about my writing, so positive responses make me flail and will have me smiling all day, and getting to talk to people who are excited about and engaged with my stories is so fun.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I think that's gonna have to be a tossup between The End of a Melody and What We Could Have Been, both of which are leorai fics (except without any actual romance) from my 2k3 days (don't judge me).
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably The Virtues of Knocking; or at least it's the most humorous ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
The closest thing I can remember is a review on Please Leave a Message, which was 2k3 Donnie having a big ol' crush on April and leaving a message on her voicemail about it; someone commented something along the lines of "ew this would be like someone dating their hamster." Otherwise I've been lucky to have some really awesome reviewers/commenters over the years.
9. Do you write smut?
No. Shipping is fun but not my main engagement factor in any fandom, and I've never shipped any ships primarily from the 'really want to see them bone' angle, so it's not an aspect of fandom I've ever felt moved to write stuff for.
10. Craziest crossover?
404 error: not found.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know, thankfully!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Also nope.
14. All time favorite ship?
Probably Leosagi. For 2k3 I ship it as like, a soulmate bromance/QPR, and for Rise (yes, I know Usagi has literally never shown up there, shh) I have a lot of fun checking out other people's takes on how our favorite fruit ninja would failboat his way through a relationship. But as mentioned in #9, shipping isn't my primary focus in any fandom; found family content is my bread and butter. (Hence why TMNT, Avengers, and The Hobbit fics account for about 450 of my 750 bookmarks, lol.)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Oh man. I have two massive multi-chap fics with like...75+ pages of notes and half-written scenes; one for Naruto (the obligatory 'what if Kishimoto didn't hate women and Sakura actually got real character development from the start' with a side of 'what if Kakashi actually did his fucking job prior to the attempted murder of one of his students by another student') and one for The Hobbit (AU where Bilbo never went on the quest, but when the rest of the dwarves head to Erebor from Ered Luin, they stop by to pick up a Hobbit to help restore the land of Dale). I really like the ideas I have for both, but they've been on the backburner for a long time. Of the two, the Naruto one is probably the one that will never get finished but that I'll also never fully stop picking at.
(@ anyone side-eyeing me about TMTC, I know. I know. It is my Telltale Heart, but I refuse to officially give up on it. Someday my muse for that one will come home from the war...)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue/characterization and humor; having people tell me they can totally hear [character] saying a line in a fic is the real-life version of the Brooklyn 99 "vindiCATION!!!" gif.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I feel like pacing is probably one, because there are always so many conversations I want to cram into fics, and if there's a scene I really love it's hard for me to cut it short even if that's better for keeping things moving. Also action scenes? I never think mine are very exciting; they always read as dry or underwhelming to me.
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
*stuffs fics written during the height of my weeaboo phase under the floorboards* Okay look, listen--
I'm definitely guilty of using it in ways that, looking back on it, are kind of cringe. Though at least for TMNT there was canonically some Japanese interspersed with English in the show, so...less cringe than I could have been? Lmao. I think it depends on context and if the character in question actually speaks that other language in canon.
19. First fandom you wrote in?
TMNT 2k3, baby!
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Tied between The More Things Change and The End of a Melody. The former is a huge passion project of mine, and the latter was kind of an experiment in I guess...artistic angst? There was a specific melancholic vibe I was going for that I feel like I captured, and I'm still pretty proud of that one. TMTC, though, is one that's really near and dear to me both because I was so invested in the idea and because the response to it was so positive, way more than I expected.
I'm tagging: @dawntreaderflynne, @goodlucktai, and @rhinocio, though obviously no pressure to any of you. ^_^

A rare butterfly is being reintroduced into the Welsh countryside decades after it disappeared, thanks to a team of conservationists.
Hundreds of marsh fritillary butterflies, with their unmistakeable cream and orange wings, can now be spotted on Llantrisant Common in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
The man behind this resurgence is Rob Parry, the founder of Initiative for Nature Conservation Cymru.
His team took caterpillars from the wild, reared them and released them back into the area - a controversial approach but one he feels is increasingly necessary.
"Many of our species are on the brink, right on the edge, and we can't afford to monitor them disappearing," he told BBC Wales Live.
"Once we do that - getting them back is so much harder. That's why these projects - where we are intervening before they become extinct - is really important."
According to the latest State of Nature Report almost one in five species in Wales were classed as being at risk of vanishing in years to come.
But why butterflies and why this particular one?
According to Butterfly Conservation UK, butterflies are recognised as indicators of biodiversity and their survival can provide a serious warning about our environment.
"Marsh fritillaries are incredibly rare and we are losing populations in Wales as well as throughout the UK and Europe," Rob said.
"Wales is still a bit of a stronghold for the butterfly, so it felt right. The marsh fritillary is a bit of an icon here."
The project has seen butterflies mating and laying eggs on the common.
Vaughn Matthews, who has helped rear and release caterpillars, said it was "an incredible experience" after "20-odd years of there being no marsh fritillaries on there".
But reintroduction is not without its critics.
Last year, the UK government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said this was not a priority and it aimed to reach biodiversity targets through methods such as habitat restoration.
Natural Resources Wales rejected Rob's original project proposal in 2016, which he felt was "a sign of where nature conservation is or was at".
"A lot of it has been protecting what we’ve already got, monitoring and doing science, research and so on," he added.
This changed when he resubmitted plans in 2019.
Liz Halliwell from NRW said she understood the role reintroduction could play, but it had to be considered against other options.
"This is one tool in a toolbox of things that we need for species recovery," she said.
"We need to look first at the causes of the things that have made that species decline or go extinct.
"It's that balancing act of saying 'it’s important, let's do it properly'."
She also points to some of the risks of reintroduction, saying "it is not enough to just get some animals and chuck them out" as there could be risks to native wildlife through competition and disease.
"Habitat restoration would be needed in advance to make sure you're not releasing animals that are then lost as well," she added.
The Initiative for Nature Conservation Cymru always intended that the caterpillars' environment would be at the heart of their plans.
"Although the focus is the butterfly, fundamentally, it’s about getting more habitat in the landscape," said Rob.
The butterflies thrive on Rhôs Pasture, a distinctive marshy grassland, that is home to a number of different wetland species.
Food production and a movement from cattle grazing to sheep in Wales has led to a lot of this land being drained.
Rob and his team have been working with landowners and communities to help bring the landscape back to life and give their butterflies the best chance of survival.
In response to wider reservations around reintroduction, he said: I would love to see a Wales where we didn't have to intervene, but that ship sailed decades ago."
A period of monitoring is the next phase for the project and a team will monitor them over several years with the hope they are able to build the population and thrive.
They then look at other species that might need a helping hand.

Rambling in your inbox about my Dovahkiin cause I've had a kinda rough day and your talking about my own has gotten me thinking about her. Feel free to delete if you like, I'm mostly just screaming into the void here.
Her name's Hectae, she's an argonian but her egg was taken from the hist swamps at a young age, so she really does have a fully draconic soul instead of the sould given by the Hist most argonians have, rendering her permanently distant from her own kind. Between that, not being near many other argonians, being aroace, and being autistic and ADHD, she was extremely timid and self-conscious when she first came to Skyrim.
Upon finding the truth of her draconic soul, things started to change. The more she embraced her draconic tendencies, the more fighting started to come naturally to her, the more she felt superhuman instead of subhuman.
Lydia helped a lot. Hectae COULD NOT understand her sarcasm (I played with subtitles and missed it as the player) and eventually Lydia grew genuinely fond of her, and Hectae really started to come into her own.
Her favorite skills are one handed, two handed, smithing, and alchemy. She's extremely poor at pickpocketing, stealth, and archery, lacking patience for those skills in the extreme. She also picks up a LOT of restoration talent later on to heal herself.
Serna is mostly fascinated by her strangeness, and finds it refreshing to have someone else around who feels just as out of place in the current society. Hectae goes with her, deciding to become a vampire, honestly in large part due to curiosity, and, well, she never felt like a standard mortal in the first place, why bother holding to those ties to mortality?
Dartheekus has a wee bit of hero worship for her for saving him and then seeing her be incredibly badass and fight a dragon.
She embraces her draconic nature fully, building a home across the bay from solitude to hoard SO MUCH STUFF.
YOU GOT A SCREENSHOT OF MY NEW LIZARD BESTIE OR
i love her name especially. Hecate is one of my favorite gods, and I absolutely love the way it's connected to her as a character.
I also really love the idea of her endearing herself to people around her, because she has ADHD and is autistic. Obviously something like that is gonna get me right in the heart <3
Sorry about your day :( there's always tomorrow!

Sadboi's Incredibly Strange Multifandom Adventure - Chapter 11: Time to Break a Few Eggs and Make a Tastey Omelette
The next world to venture to was one of chaos and speed, the universe of "Sonic the Hedgehog." As they arrived, the air was filled with the sound of grinding metal and the smell of burnt rubber. "What's happening here?" Sadboi asked, her eyes widening as she took in the disarray, but her confusion subsided until she took in her surroundings, upon which, her eyeholes widened with shock. Her voice was grave as she spoke, "Looks like we've ended up in Eggman territory."
The French Narrator nodded solemnly. "Indeed, it appears we have stumbled upon one of Dr. Eggman's bases."
Sadboi's eyeholes narrowed. "Yesyes, it seems the doc doesn't understand that technology and nature need to coexist. I'll need to use my mechanism assimilation carefully if any of his robots get too close."
The French Narrator raised an eyebrow. "Ah, a sentiment quite close to my heart. Shall we proceed with caution?" To which, Sadboi nodded. "Let us look for that little blue hedgehog so we can catch him up and restore balance here." She said.
The group cautiously approached the robot-filled wasteland, dodging lasers and dodging explosions with grace. Sonic zipped by them, leaving a trail of dust in his wake. He stopped abruptly, turning to face them with a quizzical expression. "Well, well, what do we have here?" He said, eyeing the newcomers with curiosity.
Sadboi waved to the speedster, "Hi! We're here to help!"
Sonic's eyes lit up at the sight of them. "You guys are from other worlds? That's cool! But why are you dressed like that?" He pointed at their outfits, which were definitely out of place in his high-speed world.
The French Narrator stepped forward, explaining their situation in a charmingly accented manner. "We are indeed from various realms, brought together by fate and a quest for harmony. And you, young hedgehog, are a beacon of hope in this chaotic place."
Sonic grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Cool! I'm Sonic, and I'm always up for an adventure! What's the plan?"
Sadboi glanced at the French Narrator, who nodded in approval. "We need to find a way to stop Eggman without letting him harm the environment," she said, her voice firm and determined. "Your world is beautiful, and it shouldn't be destroyed by his machines." Her love for animals really leaked through her words here.
"Sounds like a plan!" Sonic exclaimed. "But we'll have to move fast. Eggman's always one step ahead."
The French Narrator chuckled. "Ah, but that is where your new ally comes in. Sadboi's vibesense can detect the emotions of even the most cunning of foes. It will guide us to his whereabouts."
Sadboi took a deep breath, focusing her vibesense. "I feel… fear and confusion. It's coming from within Eggman's robots. It's the animals inside. And… anger, from the land itself," she reported, her eyes closing in concentration.
The group exchanged worried glances. "We need to move quickly," Twilight urged, her horn glowing with a soft light. "The planet's magic is being disturbed."
They sprinted through the mechanical jungle, following the trail of emotions Sadboi sensed. The clanging of metal grew louder, and the ground vibrated with the stomps of a giant robot. They had found one of Eggman's creations, a monstrous contraption with a cage atop it, holding a terrified animal.
"Sonic, can you distract it?" Sadboi asked, her voice steady.
"On it!" He dashed towards the robot, his speed a blur as he taunted and dodged its clumsy swipes.
While Sonic kept the robot busy, Sadboi approached the cage, her hands glowing with the power of the Element of Synthesis. With a gentle touch, the lock clicked open, and the animal darted to freedom.
"Thanks, buddy!" The animal called back, a small fox with two tails. It was Miles "Tails" Prower -- or just Tails, Sonic's best friend, who had been caught in Eggman's latest trap.
Tails looked up at them, his eyes wide. "You guys aren't from around here, are you?"
The French Narrator stepped forward, bowing slightly. "We are but travelers, seeking to right the wrongs of the multiverse. Will you join us, Tails?"
Tails looked from one to the other, then back at the retreating robot. "If you guys are fighting Eggman, then count me in! I've had enough of his evil plans!"
Sadboi nodded. She's always had a fondness for the little fox, the both of them different from the norm for very different reasons -- Sadboi for her parasitism, and Miles for his twin tails.
"Welcome to the team, Tails," she said with a warm smile, her voice resonating with genuine warmth. "We're going to need all the help we can get to stop Eggman's destruction."
Tails looked around at the group, his eyes wide with excitement. "Whoa, you guys are all so…different!" He exclaimed, his tails wagging in a mix of awe and curiosity.
"Yesyes, we're quite the bunch!" Sadboi said with a chuckle, her vibesense tingling with the excitement of their new ally. "But we all share the same goal: to protect the worlds we love."
With Tails by their side, the group made their way through the chaotic maze of Eggman's base, dodging lasers and outsmarting the mad scientist's traps. The air was thick with the scent of oil and the distant sound of mechanical whirring.
"This place is like a labyrinth," Tails said, his eyes darting around, trying to make sense of the maze-like structure. "But I think I know where he might be."
They followed Tails' lead, each step bringing them closer to the heart of the base. The vibes grew stronger, the anger and fear palpable. "We're getting closer," Sadboi murmured, her eyes glowing a soft blue.
As they turned a corner, they were met with a horrifying sight: a colossal machine, its tentacles reaching into the ground, drawing power from the very essence of the planet. At its center, a sinister figure loomed.
"Eggman!" Sonic yelled, charging ahead.
The French Narrator placed a hand on Sonic's shoulder, holding him back. "Patience, young hedgehog. We must understand the source of his power before we act."
Sadboi nodded in agreement, her mind racing. "I sense something…strange. It's not just anger or fear, it's…desperation."
The villain turned to face them, his eyes glinting with malice. "Ah, the heroes of the day! How predictable."
The French Narrator stepped forward, his diving gear giving him an air of calm amidst the chaos. "Doctor, your actions are a stain upon this world. Surely you see the harm you're causing?"
Eggman scoffed. "Harm? This is progress! And as for you," he sneered at Sadboi, "I've heard of your kind. You're a parasite, aren't you?"
Sadboi's eyes narrowed, but she kept her cool. "I am," she admitted, "but I use my powers to help, not to hurt."
The French Narrator leaned in, his voice low. "Tell us, Doctor. What drives you to such lengths?"
Eggman's expression grew darker. "I seek power, to create a world where I'm recognized for my brilliance!"
Sadboi felt a pang of pity for the desperate man. "But at what cost?" She asked, her voice gentle but firm. "Look around you. The damage you're causing."
Eggman's eyes narrowed. "You think you can understand? You're just a cubeheaded freak!"
Her eyes flashed with anger, and the vibesense grew stronger. "I may be a freak, but I know pain, and I refuse to let you inflict it on others."
The French Narrator nodded to Sadboi, his gaze filled with trust. "Use your gift," he murmured. "Find the core of his anger and show him the way."
Sadboi took a deep breath, focusing her vibesense. The emotions grew clearer: anger, fear, and a deep, all-consuming loneliness. She reached out, her hand glowing with the rainbow light of the Element of Synthesis.
"Feel this," she whispered, projecting the pure essence of friendship into Eggman's heart.
For a moment, the mad doctor stumbled back, his eyes widening. Then, the machine around him began to crack and fall apart, the stolen power seeping back into the planet.
"What have you done?" He roared, his voice echoing through the chamber.
But as the chaos subsided, a soft light filled the room, and the Earth's energy surged back to life. The animals Eggman had imprisoned were freed, and the land began to heal.
The group watched as the villain stumbled away, defeated. "The power of friendship…it's real," Tails whispered, his eyes wide.
"Yes," Sadboi said, her voice filled with wonder. "And it's something we all share, no matter where we're from."
The French Narrator smiled. "And it is this power that will lead us to our next adventure, my friends."
As the sun set on the newly restored lands of Sonic's world, the group gathered around, feeling a mix of victory and the weight of their continuing journey. The French Narrator looked at them all, a hint of pride in his gaze. "You have shown great courage and compassion," he said, his words carrying a gentle authority. "But the quest for harmony does not end here. There are more worlds that need your unique gifts, Sadboi."
Sadboi nodded solemnly, her cubehead reflecting the fading light. "I'm ready," she said, her voice firm. "Let's keep moving."

Has any of them had to be saved from the brink of death? Were there any consequences after?
(Why did this disappear when I tried to answer first, and re-appear on my inbox. Tumblr PLS)
Ooooh boy HAVE THEY
Most notably, Crenic was a Garlean prisoner/experiment for 15 years. He escaped because other prisoners broke out, and found him on their way out. He was so weak he couldn't sit up, much less walk, on his own, and was carried out. Most of his joints ache and hurt, his back especially suffers from the weight and friction of the magitek implanted on his spine.
Arik noticed that Rune healed very well from any injuries. And did he push to find how far that would go. Rune only has one single scar in his body, but his time with Arik had many mental tolls on his mind. Ironically, it was Kirash that got him out of there.
Azha has come close to death many times after his parents died and he was on his own. But in particular was the time he was 11 and attacked by a Ziz when trying to steal an egg from their nest. The sharp beak just nearly missed his heart, but Azha ended up losing a lung because of it.
Someone that had tried to manipulate his way into being close with Voxah'ya got very angry and jealous when Cedrik showed up and the two got together. Eventually setting up a trap to catch Cedrik alone in the path of an enraged Coeurl. Cedrik lost an arm, along with other injuries, and very nearly bled to death. Vox and Cedrik grew distant from each other as Vox blamed himself, and despairing, Cedrik tried to make a deal with a rumored witch that could restore his arm. While he did get his arm back, he lost his memories and had a permanent "brand" on his soul like a leash making him obey the witch. The only way to free his soul was to transfer said brand ownership to Vox, and while Cedrik trusts him not to, it means his husband could now potentially control him in any way he wanted, any time. Sometimes, he's not sure if he does something because he agrees, or because Vox wants him to. He's never voiced those thoughts.
#thank you for the ask!#(Despite tumblr being weird about it)#Crenic Namalen#Rune Nightfall#Azha Eridani#Cedrik Huorlwesfv

The entire point of his character in the show is that he was an awful dad. He did Dark Magic to save his child, but in doing so he broke his family in pieces (given that he needed the pained tears of his wife among other ingredients), and left himself with the hole in his soul that all Dark Magic users experience.
He then blamed his son for it all and treated him terribly to the point he was willing to sacrifice him for power (“if you have to choose between Soren and The Egg…. Choose the Egg” and “I trust you’ll know What You Should Do”) and ambition while leading his daughter down the very same footsteps of tragedy and selfish ambition. It literally took him DYING and getting a reset post-resurrection for him to realise how deeply he dragged his family into his own stupidity.
His son he ruined his marriage for despised him and rightfully so, his daughter he shaped into a mirror of himself and realised he ruined her life, he betrayed his own kingdom by using Dark Magic to assassinate the other leaders and frame Xadia, everyone saw him for the husk of a man he used to be.
Dark Magic and his decision to stick with it despite even his mentor telling him the price was too steep to ever be worth it, it hollowed him out and he was so removed from his humanity only death made him whole again.
And after all his actions and life choices he couldn’t really say he amounted to much. Yes he helped use the Magma Titans heart to save 2 kingdoms but he also stole Queen Sarai’s last breath to *maybe* use in the future which resulted in the murder of Avizandum and the theft of Azymondas egg. For all his ambition he only ever made things worse.
Which is why he sacrificed himself to save the citizens of Katolis and, more importantly, finally do SOMETHING right by his son who he mistreated from childhood. He knew he could never truly pay for everything he did, but he could do something Selfless for a change and die knowing his last act was for someone other than himself.
He’s an awful man who realised far too late he could actually do better, and it took death restoring his soul and a new Context to see Dark Magic in for him to realise how it rotted him and how he Could say no to the spiritual form of Flesh Eating Bacteria.
Also Dark Magic is incredibly thematic. Taking the magic of another and destroying them to suit your own purpose, leaving you empty inside like Aaravos. But also that you are STEALING MAGIC FROM ANOTHER TO SUIT YOUR OWN PURPOSE, JUST LIKE THE STAR COUNCIL STOLE THE MAGIC FROM AARAVOS HEART AND DESTROYED HER FOR THEIR OWN PURPOSES.
Viren is an abuser.
Abusers exist in many forms, his looks don't changed the fact that he hurt his wife and his children.
I can't believe i have to say this, but there are people who just don't understand. Lissa had every right to leave, he hurt her. Also Claudia choose to stay with Viren, neither Soren or Claudia hate their mother. They just don't know why she left, that's the whole point.
Viren defenders are worse than aaravos defenders. Viren literally admits to being in the wrong and having regrets and yall are still like, hE,s a GoOd daD.
#im surprised people are defending Viren#dude literally committed a false flag(?) attack to try and orchestrate War

Dear Theo..
Where is my life going? What make it our mind? He loses things their joy and leads us to melancholy. I rot without my feathers and these colors. With them I recreate things anew. All things become cold and dull after time tramples on them. I want to invent new fonts and colors, other than the ones with which our eyes stumble every day.
All the old colors have a sad glint in my heart, are they so in nature or are my eyes sick? Here I am redrawn as I ignite the fire that lurks in it.
At the heart of the tragedy there are lines of joy I want my colors to show, in the fields of "crows" and ears of wheat with their twisted necks. Even the "farmer's shoes" that filter misery, there is joy that I want to capture by color and movement... Ugly things have an artistic peculiarity that we may not find in beautiful things, and the artist's eye does not miss that.
Today I drew my own portrait, and every morning, when I look in the mirror, I say to myself: You refined face, you ugly face of Vincent, why don't you renew it?
I spit in the mirror and get out... Today I reshaped my face, not as nature wanted it, but as I wanted it to be..
Two werewolf eyes without resolution. A green face and a beard like the tongues of fire. The ear in the painting was protruding I didn't need it. I grabbed the feather, I mean the razor, and removed it.. It seems that I got confused, between my head outside and inside the painting... Well what am I going to do with that lump of meat?
I sent it to the woman who didn't know my worth and thought I loved her.. It's okay let the appendages come together.. Here's my ear, talkative woman, talk to her... Now I can hear and see with my fingers. Indeed, my sixth finger, the feather, can do more than that: it dances, creates and caresses the skin of the painting.
I sit and meditate: the world has grown old and its wrinkles have increased, and the face of the painting is beginning to relax more. Oh my God, what can I do before night falls on the tower of the soul? The brush, the colors, and I quickly fix it: straight and short strokes, sharp and graceful, my colors are clear and primitive. Yellow Blue Red.. I want to bring things back to their spontaneity as if the world had just come out of its first cosmic egg.
I still remember: It was dusk or after dusk and before dawn. The lilac color (denoting the night) wets the horizon... Ah, the shiver of lilac, when we went out into the orchard to steal the cranberries. I was sitting in the middle of the tree watching a green and yellow worm while Ursula the more miserable jumped gleefully among the branches Suddenly she lost her balance and sank, my chest trembled before hanging on my neck, I held her to me, breathing like a frightened antelope, and when she moved away from me a berry had left its night nectar On the white of my shirt, since that day, when I was twelve, I felt its lilac nectar on the white of my shirt.
From that day on, when I was twelve, I feel I would be happy if a lilac hole were to open in my chest so that white might flow, what a lilac tremble.
The idea pushes me a lot, can I not do it Lie in the sunflower, yellow, oh I, absorb the rays of this joyful planet, stare and stare into the sun's eye where the soul of the universe is until my eyes burn me.
Two things stir my soul: staring at the sun, and at death.. I want to travel in the stars, and this miserable body is holding me back! When will we, the sons of the earth, go, carrying our bloody handkerchiefs, but to where? .. To the dream, of course.
Yesterday I painted flowers the color of clay after I planted myself in the dirt, and the ears were green and yellow growing over my head, and the crows of memory were flying without air. Heads of wheat and crows. Crows and wheat... the crows are pecking at my brain. Cork... Cork... everything is a dream. Dreams are in vain, and the feather of dust deceives us all the time.. Soon I will restore the trust of the dirt, and release the bird from my chest towards the land of the sun.. Oh swallow, I will open the cage for you with this pistol.
Goodbye, Theo, I'm leaving for spring.

SAVOUR THE TRADITIONS OF RAMADANA GUIDE TO FASTING AND FEASTING
If food was a language, then iftar would be the most beautiful expression of love … for your belly … and for your heart. As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, most of us are going to miss delicious aromas wafting from every street corner. Laden with authentic Indian, Persian, Arabic, Lebanese, and Egyptian delicacies, we eagerly look forward to this absolutely gluttonous celebration every year.
Why do people fast during this month? What are the intricacies of the Ramadan fast?
Here’s a brief overview that can help you. The ninth month in the Islamic calendar is celebrated as the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims believe that the first verses of the Qu’ran were revealed to Prophet Mohammad while he was fasting during this month. It is a month of great significance and is associated with self-control, compassion, patience, and abstinence.
Fasting during Ramadan has its own set of rules.
Abstain from food and drink (including water) from sunrise to sunset
No smoking
No alcohol
Break fast at sunset with 1 or 3 dates and a few sips of water
The Intermittent Fast
Although Ramadan will culminate in Eid-ul-Fitr this Friday, weight-watchers and those of us who are consciously eating healthy can incorporate a lot of the Ramadan fasting principles in our everyday lives.Eating small, well-balanced meals between fixed periods of the day can help support our intermittent fasting. Keep in mind though that hydration is an important part of intermittent fasting. So, even if you cannot drink water during the Ramadan fasting period, be sure to keep your hydration levels in check at other times.
Suhoor - the first/last meal of the day .A wholesome power-packed meal that should get you through the day, suhoor (also known as sehri) is consumed early in the morning (before sunrise). Ironically, many regard suhoor as the last meal of the day.
Below is a list of healthy foods consisting of complex carbohydrates and proteins that can get you through the day
● Pulses like moong, matki, chana ● Plain curd/dahi ● Fruits with curd ● Water-based foods like watermelon, strawberries, cucumber, etc. ● Milk and dairy products like cheese, paneer, buttermilk, etc. ● Oatmilk, pea milk, almond milk (if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant) ● Oatmeal ● Mango smoothie ● Peanut butter and banana smoothie ● Boiled eggs ● Boiled chicken with veggies
Whole fruits and nutsAdd generous amounts of watermelon, pumpkin, sunflower, and chia seeds to your oatmeal and smoothies.
Iftar
If you’ve been lucky enough to get an Iftar invitation, you’ll know that every corner of the table(s) is laden with foods and drinks that will make your heart sing! We kid you not. After more than 12 hours of fasting, you’re likely to grab the first dish you’ll see. But here’s where you need to read the fine print. In order to break their fast, Muslims have 1 or 3 dates along with a few sips of water. This was believed to be how the Prophet broke his fast centuries ago. In terms of nutrition, this is an excellent way to reintroduce food and drink into your parched system. Dates are an excellent fiber, iron, magnesium, and natural sugars source. Breaking your fast with dates and water helps restore blood sugar.
But isn’t Iftar all about kebabs, biryani, and sheer khurma?
Long story short, nope!

Regular sun exposure is the most effective way of getting vitamin D into the body. When exposed to the sun, the skin facilitates Vitamin D production using cholesterol. However, some people might not be lucky to receive Vitamin D from the sun. On the one hand, are people who don’t want to get scorched by the midday sun to get the essential vitamin. And on the other, are people living in cold places with few sunny days, risking Vitamin D deficiency. This begs the question, how do I get vitamin D without risking excessive sun exposure? Read on to find out: 1. What is Vitamin D? 2. What are the benefits? 3. Risks of Excessive sun exposure 4. How much vitamin D? 5. Wrapping up What is Vitamin D? It’s a fat-soluble vitamin that helps the body absorb phosphorus and calcium minerals, which are critical for bone health. Being fat soluble means it can be stored by the body for a long period, or until the body needs it. The human body produces vitamin D when exposed to the sun. That's because the sun contains an ultraviolet ray called UVB which is absorbed by the skin cells to activate vitamin D synthesis. Vitamin D occurs in two forms- Vitamin D2 and Vitamin D3. Both play a crucial role in the body, but the latter is more potent than Vitamin D2 and increases Vitamin D levels faster than its counterpart. Also, vitamin D2 is derived from plant-based sources, while Vitamin D3 comes from animal sources like salmon, eggs, trout, tuna, and sardines. Benefits of Vitamin D 1. Strengthening the Bones Vitamin D plays a critical role in strengthening and developing bones. It promotes calcium absorption, which facilitates the mineralization of bones, an essential part of bone development. That’s why vitamin D deficiency causes bone deformities like rickets in kids and broken bones in adults. The bones grow soft and develop a poor density which manifests as osteomalacia and osteoporosis in the long term. 2. Strengthen the Immune System Vitamin D plays a critical role in strengthening the immune system. It activates B cells, antigen-presenting cells, and T cells, the body’s killer cells. T cells detect and destroy foreign antibodies like viruses, while B cells produce the antibodies. Antigen-presenting cells, on the other hand, detect and inform the immune system about a possible infection. All such activities are only possible when the immune system is strong. That’s why vitamin D deficiency increases the risk of developing autoimmune diseases like diabetes, respiratory infections like asthma, and arthritis. 3. Promotes Muscle Healing Vitamin D plays a crucial role in repairing skeletal muscles after an injury. It activates the vitamin D receptor, which enhances muscle regeneration, a process that requires activating satellite cells and restoring mitochondrial function. 4. Good for Oral Health Vitamin D also promotes oral health. It helps the body absorb calcium, facilitating tooth mineralization and reducing the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and cavities. 5. Reduces Risk of Developing Heart Disease The heart has receptors for Vitamin D, which keep the arteries relaxed and flexible when it is pumping blood. As such, it plays a crucial role in controlling one’s blood pressure. Studies show people with low Vitamin D levels are more likely to develop a heart attack, strokes, and other heart-related ailments. Maintaining a daily intake of 600-800 IU is critical to keeping cardiovascular diseases at bay. Unfortunately, once you develop heart-related illnesses, it’s challenging to reverse the condition by taking Vitamin D supplements. Bright lights at night can disrupt our internal body clock, as melatonin increases with darkness and decreases with light. Therefore, it's crucial to dim the lights at least an hour before bedtime to promote melatonin production, which can help you fall asleep faster. In today'
s age, it's common to be surrounded by bright lights, but taking simple steps like dimming the lights can significantly improve the quality of your sleep. What are the Risks of Excessive Sun Exposure? Although the sun is the primary source of vitamin D, excessive exposure can be harmful to your health. It increases the risk of developing eye damage, melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. A balance between enough sun exposure for vitamin D benefits and excessive sun exposure that increases the risk of skin cancer is necessary. Prolonged exposure to the sun doesn’t increase vitamin D levels; shorter periods (30 minutes) are more efficient at increasing production. How Much Vitamin D Does the Body Need? The recommended daily dose for vitamin D for adults is 600-800 IU and 340-400 IU for kids aged one year. However, people living without sun exposure long enough or those with darker skin tones need higher quantities, usually 800-2000 IU. Note that Vitamin D production fluctuates by season, reducing drastically during the cool winter months. With more time spent indoors, few sunny hours or days, and the skin covered in clothing when outdoors, it’s nearly impossible to get enough Vitamin D. Also, most of the sun’s rays (UVB) are absorbed by the earth’s ozone layer so the body doesn’t receive enough energy to activate Vitamin D synthesis. While the body relies on the tissue stores to produce the vitamin, they only have enough supply for 30-60 days. Most people correct the imbalance by spending more hours outdoors, but if the winter season lasts longer, you must look for other ways to get Vitamin D without sun exposure. Ways to Get Vitamin D Without Sun Exposure Foods and supplements increase Vitamin D levels in people who don’t get much sun exposure or don’t want to get excessive exposure to the sun. They include: 1. Eating Seafood and Fatty Fish One effective way of increasing Vitamin D intake is to eat seafood and fatty fish like: Salmon: It’s an excellent source of Vitamin D, containing 526-924 IU of the vitamin, depending on the source. Studies show wild-caught salmon tend to have higher levels of Vitamin D than farmed salmon Canned tuna: The fish is a favorite for many households because it’s cheaper than fresh fish, easy to store, and has great flavor. The fish is a great source of Vitamin D, packing 269 IU per 100 grams of serving Sardines and herring: Both types of fish are rich in Vitamin D. Herring derived from Fresh Atlantic has 214IU while sardines pack 193 IU per 100 grams 2. Eating Eggs Eggs are a convenient alternative for those who aren’t fans of fish or seafood. They are added to breakfast, dinner, and lunch recipes, making it easy to pack vitamin D anytime. The egg yolk is particularly potent in the vitamin giving you 37 IUs. However, this amount varies based on sun exposure, feed type, and chicken. Eggs from pasture-raised chicken, for example, have higher Vitamin D levels than those from ‘caged’ chicken. Although eggs are readily available, it’s important to eat them in moderation because they’re high in cholesterol. 3. Eating Mushrooms Mushrooms are an excellent source of Vitamin D for vegetarians. While this wild plant has been studied for its effects on diseases like depression and cancer, some varieties are potent in Vitamin D. Oysters, shiitake, maitake, chanterelle, and morel are examples of mushroom varieties rich in this vitamin. The maitake mushroom variety packs up plenty of the vitamin, usually 2348 IU for a serving of 100 grams. What’s more, mushrooms exposed to UV light for a long time have higher levels of Vitamin D. They contain a precursor called ergosterol, which converts to Vitamin D once exposed to the sun’s rays. 4. Add Fortified Foods to Your Diet Since not many foods are potent in Vitamin D, it’s added to staple foods through fortification. Such foods include: Soy milk: Soy milk is fortified with Vitamin D and other essential nutrien
ts in cow milk. The amount of Vitamin D varies by brand, but a cup of 237 ml can give you 100-119 IU of the vitamin Orange juice: It’s an excellent alternative for lactose-intolerant people. Fortified orange juice contains 100IUs of the vitamin Cow milk: In addition to riboflavin, calcium, and phosphorus vitamins and minerals, cow milk may be fortified with Vitamin D to give you 115 IUs Cereals: Some cereals like wheat bran flakes, rice, and oatmeal are fortified with vitamin D. However, they don’t have a high percentage of the vitamin as natural sources, so you only want to add them to your diet to boost Vitamin D intake 5. Taking Supplements Another way of getting Vitamin D without risking excessive sun exposure is by taking supplements. Most Vitamin D supplements provide 1000-2000 IUs which is safe for many people. Cod liver oil is the most popular supplement. It’s an excellent substitute for fish and seafood and packs adequate levels of Vitamin D. Typically a 5 ml teaspoon contains 450 IU of Vitamin D. In addition to Vitamin D, cod oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. You must be keen to look for high-quality supplements which have been tested independently. With little regulation in producing and selling nutritional supplements, it’s easy to buy fake supplements. Look out for supplements tested for quality by third parties like ConsumerLab.com, Informed-Choice, and the U.S. Pharmacopeia. Wrapping Up You no longer need to wonder how to get vitamin D without risking excessive sun exposure. You can add fish and seafood to your diet. If you’re vegetarian, look for certain mushroom varieties or food fortified with Vitamin D. Alternatively, take Vitamin D supplements. Remember, Vitamin D has many health benefits you don’t want to miss. From strengthening healthy bones and teeth, to reducing the risk of heart disease and enhancing the regeneration of injured muscles. What is the purpose of a Fish Hatchery in Utah
Fish hatcheries are an essential aspect of modern aquaculture, as they help to improve and maintain fish populations in the wild. Among these establishments is Cove River Ranch, a fish hatchery located in the heart of Utah. The main objective of this facility is to raise and distribute high-quality fish for recreational and commercial purposes. "Then he was hung by one of ours." She said softly, blue-within-blue eyes staring up at the skull, " he has no eyes." That was to say there wasn't much of anything save a few dehydrated bits of neck muscles that held the sun bleached skull up on the wall.
It was a very foreign concept to her, this display over an an enemy. Maybe it was the way of the cities-- maybe it was the way of the Atreides.
In the deep desert, large battles and war such as this were a rarity. They had had them, of course. The old histories preserved by the Reverend Mother remembered them, and children learning the open bled water recovery were told of the stories and why not to waste the enemies' water.
War angered Shai Hulud. War was never a necessity, it was the last answer. To spill so much of the body's water out on the open desert, to violate the natural order of how one should move as not to disturb God, and how the firebombing destroyed the ecosystem... The Atreides atomics were an abomination.
Even she could not deny that. Her Usul would never have suggested them. The Atreides would.
Muad'Dib would have found God's way to remove their enemy.
It was not Muad'Dib who ended the war. It was Not Usul to whom she told of the shameful death of their son.
"He had a warrior's death." She said with a passive tone. "Otherwise they would have left his eyes. His body's water must have been enough for several families within the tribe to live well. His water is gone. His soul can rise."
She nodded towards the skull and spoke, " The eyes have His water." Shai Hulud's. " If they are left, then water is still within the body and the birds try for them. The sun burns the water inside." she did not know the word was to scald, " It burns the birds. Then His water is lost and so is his body."
The long beaks and sharp talons would have retaliated by destroying the skull-- removing the enemy and destroying the soul. If the water was not saved, then neither was he.
"He must have fought well." She imagined that there were those that wished he'd died a coward's death. Then he wouldn't deserve that kindness. " You should grind it down and give the dust to the tribe. Put him to benefit and restore your honor." The calcium in the bones would make good fertilizer for the farms. "Do you wish me to find who has his pieces? "
No part of the body was wasted. Heart valves and other organs could save other men. The skin could clothe those who needed it, and the marrow would be used to hunt and trap birds for domestication. A marrow fed bird produced good eggs. The water belonged to the tribe.
"he only lost the right of choosing his distribution."

"He was my brother," He said simply. There was an edge to his voice, embarrassed he'd been caught staring at the head still mounted on Arrakeen's walls.
He wanted to take it down, bury it somewhere decent unlike this wretched hell hole. But he knew that he would need to give the Fremen and those in the cities this. They had hated his brother and for good reason. But he'd still been human. And to be human was to contain the multitude, Rabban had been every bit the Beast the Fremen loathed. But he had also been a brother.
