I'm going to organise it into the good, the bad and the confusing

Good

•Florida doesn't like Cali's cooking as it's healthy to the point it's bland and unfilling. But Florida will eat it anyway. However, as Cali got more stressed he began making food for him. Everyday for a month Cali woke up to the smell of waffles and pancakes and glazed fruit. He was genuinely impressed the house didn't burn down but found the meal too rich after a while. Then one day they decided to cook together and accidently invented a new food that was the perfect balance.

•They love watersports (like actual sports on water not piss I had to learn that the hard way) and go to the beach every week for date night. They get competitive and it only goes too far once when Florida did the alligator move of death rolling in the water. California was only mildly annoyed with Florida getting too rough in the water.

The bad

• Florida gets homesick a lot but can't always go home. California tried making things seem like home with Disneyland and Halloween horror nights, but they only make Florida miss his home more. When Florida gets really upset Cali will just cuddle him.

•Because Cali uses his exes Hulu, Florida can see what his ex likes. It's not the only thing Cali's ex left behind. Sometimes Florida will find a picture of the two- other times he will find "blood" on the ex's shirt or find a box of his ex's things (including photo albums and a dvd of human centipede with bonus features). Florida also found a hole in the wall from what he assumed was from Cali's ex being aggressive and he confronted Cali on his findings.

The reality was very different. California and his ex got along well and were still friends. In fact Cali's ex offered to continue paying for hulu, his old shirts were "bloody" bc it's a Halloween costume and the only reason why Cali still keeps his stuff is because his ex doesn't have enough room in his own apartment. But the human centipede? Oh California just hid that after his ex wanted to make out to a horror movie and didn't read the warnings.

Florida felt a bit insecure on how close Cali was to his ex, but eventually he accepted they didn't have anything else going on.

Confusing

•Florida is shark bite capital and part gator, and when he was teething he didn't know what to bite. California was right in front of him, reading a book. He went straight for his arm. They then proceeded to stare at each other for at least 15min before Florida grabbed the book and went absolutely feral.

•Sometimes, when Cali comes home he hears Florida playing bad bunny and leaves.

•Both of them are Tumblr shippers. But Florida is a multishipper and Cali is a reader/character and an otp shipper. They have fandom discourse.

Florida: self inserts are just annoying-

Cali: oh, like we're not a stand-in for Ben! Also your ships are toxic!!

Florida: How???

Cali: enemies to lovers is always toxic!!!

Despite of him being the only character without any votes in the poll I posted months ago, I have my reasons why I will still be writing about him. Not only I would like to work on all the fanfics I put in the poll I posted a while back, however I'm sure there are people who wouldn't mind reading this fanfic pertaining Beast Boy. While I wish I figured out how to write about him in a funny light hearted fluff genre for any fanfic pertaining Beast Boy about atleast a couple years ago, however I managed to figure on how to write about him in this type of genre since I have been writing about characters in head cannon(?) type and/or genre in order to figure out on how to write about him in gentle and mellow genres such as the funny light hearted fluff😺

What Would Beast Boy Be Like With You((Adult) Beast Boy (The 2003 Teen Titans) x Female Reader)

Genres: Funny Light Hearted Fluff, Head Cannon(?), Confession Fluff, Regular Fluff, Comfort(?)

*Whenever Beast Boy talks to you, regardless if you initiate the conversation or if he initiates the conversation... It just will be obvious that he has a crush on you. So, anyone (including you) can see that through him.

*When you confess to Beast that you have a crush on him, he would be surprised and confused at first, however he will also be excited about it, as well, to the point where he will confess that he has a crush on you as well (which you're not shocked about it, since you already knew, however you're more than happy to hear about it, also.). The (mutual) confession(s) would be the best day of his (and your) life.

*If you were to ask him to watch a movie (Netflix, Hulu, DVD, Blu-ray, etc...) and chill, he would definitely be more than happy to do so with you. Tough his food choice is popcorn when it comes to eating, while watching a movie with you. Well, if you're a fan of anything pertaining horror and/or thriller and/or a combo of horror with (another genre) and/or thriller with (another genre), then he will watch these movies with you, however he will be holding you (trying not to hold too tight) when it comes to the scary scenes.

*When it comes to restaurant choices he will let you choose, however he prefers to have the option of not having to eat meat. So, if you're a pizza person, he doesn't want meat on the pizza. On the other hand, if you pick out a place he can have tofu and/or vegetarian food, he would definitely be happy about it.

*If you like being clingy and a fan of a significant other's clinginess, then good news, because he tends to be a clingy person as well. Tough he did have issues with his own clinginess in the relationship, so he would rather you initiate clinginess, while he also prefers you initiate on kisses, cuddles, and other forms of affection as well. He wants to makesure he's not being pushy with you, and if you initiate any forms of affection, kisses and cuddles included, this will make him very happy that you're happy about wanting this as well.

Finished Daughter of Witches

and also St. Peter's Fair, which I had started AGES ago and sort of lost track of, but I'm doing the January Challenge on TheStoryGraph and couldn't decide what to read next but needed to get my pages in, so I went digging for random shit and I have read it before and watched all the Cadfael mysteries so it's not like it was hard to get into to finish it so I could save my streak.😅

Read A House with Good Bones (on purpose from start to finish in one day!) because T. Kingfisher/Ursula Vernon is absofuckinglutely one of my favorites. (There's a thought here about my occasional forays into the horror genre, and how some horror is almost kind of cozy because it's about protecting what we love from what we fear, and that is very much a Kingfisher kind of thing, but that might need a new post and a more functional brain to figure out where I'm going with that.)

Listened to a little bit more of IT while doing housework; I'm not great at audio books except when I'm driving, but sometimes I can manage a little (and I didn't want to distract myself from dishes by picking up a new book instead). Stephen Weber is an excellent narrator btw, for anyone who's curious.

WATCHING

The husband was sick last week, and I was only sort of doing shit either, so he kind of just put the TV on and let it go and I definitely will not manage a nice list with links like I did with books. There was some M*A*S*H, (oh, I did finally watch the special that recently came out on Hulu), and RoboCop (largely because Thing 1 gave the husband the new game for Christmas) and several different Predator movies of various quality, and a bunch of other stuff I am not thinking of at the moment. I know I picked a couple and watched them myself but with everything else I can't remember what?

Also some Mythbusters when Thing 2 picked something to watch for awhile, which is pretty much always entertaining even when we're like: your sample size is nonexistent and just because you can't do it doesn't mean someone who knows what they're doing couldn't have done it so are you SURE you should have busted that? 😅

PLAYING

I got Garden Story for Christmas and got through the quest-lines and realized I was quite far away from all the upgrades, so I've been periodically poking at it and trying to get my villages/tools better before trying the Final Boss. I have had a good time with Concord though, it's fun, I'm just not sure the leveling functions, such as they are, are paced/balanced quite right? 😅 (Or perhaps I'm just Bad At Fighting In Cozy Games? This does seem to be a bit of a trend tbqh, probably why I liked Wylde Flowers' lack of combat so much.) I also have found VERY FEW of the memories/weird achievements so that's a thing I'm probably going to have to look up hints for soon-ish...

(I did finish Potion Permit last year, which is great, I recommend it whole-heartedly: the potion building mechanic is usually pretty solid, it has good characters, a nice aesthetic, I did actually mostly have fun rolling around and fighting things/gathering stuff, but I did reach the end of the main quest and then go... huh, is that it? just because it, yk, kept going after the finale but there didn't seem to be anything there beyond like, a couple personal quests that needed materials I couldn't unlock until the end.)

MORE ENTERTAININGLY I THINK, we did also play some board games

Paint The Roses is QUITE HARD with only two people even if you stick to the medium level whims; or maybe I'm just not that smart?!? We did in fact survive without getting our heads' chopped off by the Queen of Hearts, but we legit guessed the last two puzzles so. Dumb Luck™️ is not nearly as reliable as actually figuring out how to plot your plants better.

We did Escape the Dark Sector (with more people this time, tbf) on our first try though! That was pretty delightful. It is atmospheric and potentially almost deadly without feeling too awful at any point! Also I got to punch a tentacle monster!

Mice & Mystics can go dramatically bad if your dice aren't on your side and you do like, one stupid thing to compound that, and then if you're invested enough to start over you can suddenly realize you've been moving tiny plastic mice and bugs around the table for like four hours and still only got through the first chapter... but not regret it at all because you like your mice and are very proud of them for finally making it!

Can you tell we like co-op games? 🤣🤣🤣

(I did also do some rearranging so the game room was comfier, so like, win/win I adulted and played!)

Alright I'm gonna have to say something. There is a lot of info going around that doesn't make sense. There have also been bad arguments on both sides. I'm gonna try to synthesize what I've learned and what I think here so bear with me.

MiA has been on air for 6 years. It has aired globally; in America it aired on Adult Swim. It's on crunchyroll and Hulu if you have a subscription. Is it more likely that A. Anime fans are all p*dos or B. The anime was sold and heavily edited for marketability? I don't believe the amount of anime buffs that have talked so highly about it for so long would have done that had they known the truth.

Another point, we are citing a live from Aug. 2022. Why didn't anyone say anything then? In said live, Woozi is asked to recommend anime. He starts listing anime he had just started then ultimately recommends Komi Can't Communicate. That is it. As for the other idols, they most likely engaged with an edited version that kept some darkness but not the horrible awful parts.

It is not impossible for people to unwittingly enjoy something that is later revealed to be problematic. As far as anime goes, AoT and Ranking of Kings are examples of this. Stuff like that happens in western like in the cases of Harry Potter or Twilight. I will admit, I don't know when it was revealed that there was editing done to MiA, but it has been a recommended anime for years.

The source that posted is called Pannchoa and is notorious for causing problems, mistranslating, misunderstanding, and lying. I've also seen misinfo being spread by antis who want attention. Twitter is a cesspool, and unfortunately, a lot of children these days, especially american children, are victims of a deteriorating education system and lack reading comprehension skills as well as being chronically online. I'm a grown-up. I'm an adult. I'm not saying you have to agree but just take a moment to listen.

Many people have jumped to conclusions and straight up misunderstood things. I've had to cut off favs before, but I always read as much as I can first and make sure I understand before deciding. I hope this blows over quick; I cannot imagine the heartache and stress these boys are going through, or anyone else who likes anime who has posted about it, recommended it, or enjoys it. Let's be productive and drop the manga artist and company who sold it and everyone involved in its censoring and make this not happen again.

The argument that "they are grown men and can watch whatever" does not help. The argument that "watching true crime doesn't make you a murderer" does not help. What helps is finding what is real and not real.

If you're going to try and argue, pick someone else or pick another post. I will not engage. I've said my piece.

Under the bridge (hulu) finale liveblog/reaction

- Jo is an asshole and Kelly is just stupidly vile as hell.

- I will say these young actors are all good as hell and have acted their be hinds off.

- I couldn't be in a gang cause I would roll my eyes so fast and just leave before one speech.

- Oooo "Mercy Alone" is a cold ass title. Pop off writers.

- He really became like a little brother and she is wrestling with getting wrapped up in the momentum kind of like Warren did.

- Thank god this house is getting shut down even though I'm sure they did goor and I appreciate that we finally see Cam in this house. We never saw her as a teen in the house and only an outsider looking in. But, now she's in it.

- Sigh they shouldn't have lied about that.

- Fuck you Kelly.

- Lmfao she said "ain't you a cop?" but this isn't just cam the cop this is cam the former 7 oaks girl. Kelly set them all up the minute they got to that police station knowing none of those girls had options or legal resources except for her. She was an awful friend if they can even call her that and did an evil action. What amug ass, fuck.

- Good job Cam, her relationship or not, its not yours to manipulate the hell. That's her symbiotic relationship.

- Well he ain't wrong Becca, you involved yourself the minute you walked into seven oaks.

- The more realistic non hear say versions of the fight is horrible. Teenagers are led by their short impulses and peer pressure. Easier to say "I don't know" than no, and thats not an age thing that I'd a human thing.

- Again these young actors are fan fucking tastic. I hope and wish them all to get many roles post this show. So nice to see budding quality talent.

- It's just a case to her dad but to his daughter it's her life. It could have been her if it was 30 years before. He sees what he wants to see but not the reality outside of his own. You're her dad but this is something she will now wrestle with her entire life and could've been prevented. There's other ways like as soon as she's in your care tell her about where she came from and ask if she'd like to establish a relationship or connection with her family and community. Delayed her sense of self, for what?

- Grief has finally hit her mom, Suman, whereas it hit dad the minute his daughter was missing. The minute the cops showed up he knew it in his gut. I hope the real Virks have gotten so much healing and peace in their life since then. The grief will never leave any of them and it is likely embedded into every moment, but I hope they have found some peace.

- The right person. Whew great direction here 👏🏾.

- A little kindness goes a long way and can change your entire life. I say it often but a lot of crimes no matter the age of the assailant are made by very angry children. Some are trying to inflict the same pain onto others or release their own. Others well others just are too angry to do anything outside of anger.

- Insanity plea? No, she's just got no kindness in her heart.

- What a sweet baby, sigh he doesn't really understand why they're all dressing up.

- Cam looks great out of a uniform.

- 5 years, in actuality she got way more later, and he who feels remorse for what he did got life. I'm talking about the initial rulings, not what occurred after of people gettibg more time or getting paroled. Kelly here only feels upset that she was caught.

- Sit with a bunch of fuck ass dickheads. No. Ayyyy cam out of uniform !!! We love to see it!

- I love that they end on a cordial note and found the beauty. The beauty of giving yourself mercy and trying to forge a new path.

- Becca's shoes and jeans look like a little kids. He really did just slip 😢.

- Jo and Kelly. Nah Nicole and Kelly, them real hoes are birds of a feather. I hope someone calls them cunts to their faces at least once a month. From prison cell to 9-5 them two are nasty pieces of work. Took Kelly another infraction and two kids to go huh okay let me finally admit my guilt now. Now that my fate is sealed.

- Ooo that end got me, i aint cry but ooo i teared up as soon as the cd skipped. R.i.p Reena Virk, i wish you had better friends. Real friends.

Final thoughts:

- Fantastic end to this show and phenomenal acting from everyone involved. Not just this episode but the entire season the acting has been metered so well even if i missed it at first. The soundtrack and editing in every episode has been so good. Timing of certain tracks and score was really effective in swallowing the viewer these last 3/4 episodes. Absolutely fantastic finale.

Also what could I do to make my stories more like the former? Is that something I should actually worry about?

It's one of those things that honestly would require essays and people who know more about film/tv than me to really get into, but essentially i think the issue is that lgbt people are now seen as more profitable than they are a risk. in the past, gay media had to really want to be made. it wasn't included to fit a quota or fill a market, it was made by people who felt genuinely passionate about telling a story.

when disney or netflix or hulu or whatever make gay media, it isn't out of love, nothing they make is out of love. even if they hire gay people to write, trans people to act, get sensitivity readers, it feels fake. there's a post on here about how you can go watch heartstopper and see all the cute lgbt kids and then click three buttons and watch a comedy special about how trans people are the scum or the earth. it all means absolutely nothing.

we do still get a lot of "real" media being made, ofc, but with the way media works nowadays it gets overshadow pretty easily. when you can choose between turning on netflix and seeing the latest generic gay teen romcom, or driving an hour to an independent cinema to see a new indie gay film, it's pretty clear what choice most people are going to make (and that's if they even heard about the independent film in the first place.)

that's just a super condensed version that doesn't even really touch on everything, but like i said it would require way more than a tumblr post

as for your own stories, i don't really know? it's more of a complaint about capitalism than anything else, but i so see a lot of soulless gay lit nowadays. it's all up to what you personally value in lgbt media, so if you're really worried about it maybe go and watch/read some older lgbt things and try to identify what resonates with you and why

My thoughts on episode 10

SPOILERS for season 3, episode 10 of the Animaniacs reboot

So that's great. I took two hours to write this entire review, and then with one press of control + Z, it was completely gone. Great site Tumblr. Really works as intended.

I was in a better mood, but having to rewrite this ENTIRE thing sucks so badly. I try to give my genuine thoughts as I go, and it's impossible to replicate that on the second try. I want to scream. Why can't this week just go right?

So now you're getting a negative opening for what was a super positive review. I seriously want to punch a wall. A website meant for long posts doesn't have an editor designed for them. That's just great.

I can't rewrite that whole thing. Just have a collection of screenshots and some jumbled thoughts.

I'm sorry for Pinky and the Brain fans that their final showing was so short. I didn't like Brain talking about the "endlessly repetitive formulaic rebooted franchise that relies on just a handful of tired characters." You can say it's the writers taking a shot at themselves, but it really isn't. It's not their show. They didn't create the characters. Combined with the ending, it just feels a little disrespectful to the people who put their heart and soul into creating this show in the first place, and to the fans who genuinely love these characters.

Look at them being silly!

I can't gush enough about the song. Such cute animation, such powerful music!

I teared up while listening to it this time. I'll probably do the same on every future watch.

I liked that Wakko was right about everything and had the idea that saved the day. The Warners literally saved the world and they'll still be treated like garbage by everyone around them.

The Joe segment was funny, especially the zoom out at the end. I liked hearing "Waltzing Matilda" in the background.

Dot was so cute wanting to go on the teacups, just being infatuated with the idea of spinning around in a little teacup!

This segment is the epitome of "this is my life now."

Poor Wakko has the worst luck. The SAME CLOWN just happened to be at this carnival? At least we know he got down from Mars.

I thought it was weird to have two cataclysmic endings for the reboot six minutes apart from each other. Although they say this sketch was written for season 1, I find it really hard to believe that this wasn't originally meant to end the season/reboot, especially with Dot's quip at the end. I'm not sure I would want this to be the ending, though. It would have sucked if the Warners were the ones who explicitly ended their universe and killed everyone inside. That would have proven everyone right about their destructive nature all along.

I thought this was a refreshing segment. Slappy sounded and looked great. Like I expected, it was short and there was no Skippy, but I'm happy it exists. I was surprised and happy to see that they got Sherri Stoner to return for work on the reboot.

I liked how Everyday Safety was just a never-ending cascade of total nonsense.

The Council is not pleased.

I thought Wakko's bottle song was catchy. I liked that it actually sounded like Wakko blowing. I wonder if they got Jess to do that for real in the studio?

And the ending. I wrote four paragraphs about it, and it sucks so bad because I thought I made my points quite well. Let me try again.

I understand the metaphor with the abrupt and sudden ending. I know the asteroid is meant to represent Hulu. I just don't think they should have pushed their bitter disappointment with the show ending directly onto us. They should have thought it through a lot better.

If they were going to go doom and gloom, which they shouldn't have, they should've at least given the ending some emotional weight. How am I supposed to feel anything when the characters themselves don't show any reaction to their unexpected, oncoming violent deaths? I'm not saying it should have been super depressing with crying and begging. They just should have given a genuine reaction instead of doing business as usual. The closest set of siblings in the world is about to go out in a fiery blaze, and they're not even touching each other. They're just standing near each other awkwardly. Have them embrace and accept their death with a positive remark about how it was all worth it. That would at least give some closure.

What they should have done, if I could rewrite it from scratch, is give us a satisfying, happy ending. Show the Warners finally earning their freedom from the tower after 90 years. Maybe have them gaze at the sunset together, mirroring how the sun rose at the very beginning of the reboot. Even if they didn't have time to animate new scenery for something like that, anything would have been better for this. This ending just feels empty. It lacks any emotion besides pure shock and it feels like an F you to everyone who cares about the show. The creators might have intended that F you to feel like it was coming from Hulu, but Hulu didn't write this scene. The reboot writers did, and they had the power to leave us with something better. This could be the last Animaniacs we ever see.

I'm at least happy they attempted an ending. The original didn't have one at all. It just sucks that Animaniacs had to end unexpectedly and unsatisfyingly both times it's been suddenly cancelled. The reboot was supposed to fix that.

This was perhaps the most entertaining episode of the season for me. It has one of the greatest Animaniacs songs ever, maybe the best song of the season, I'm still not sure. I still love The Island of Dr. Warneau a lot, so I'm giving this episode a solid second place in my final ranking for the season.

That means that the majority of episodes this season are episodes I would consider really good. The top 4 are all episodes I would consider really great. I'll give my thoughts on the season as a whole in my collective season 3 review, but I'll need a few more days before I start writing that. I need some time to collect myself and reflect.

I'm sorry for how this review turned out. The first version felt a lot more positive, because in this attempt I just wanted to express my more well-developed thoughts, which happened to be criticisms. I liked this episode a lot. I just so desperately wish I hadn't lost that first version. It only adds to the most heavily conflicting mix of emotions I've ever felt in one week. I was feeling good, and now I'm knocked down again. I'm sorry to be the one putting so much negativity into the fandom. I want this to be a positive place for all. If I wasn't able to express my emotions here, though, I wouldn't be able to deal with them at all. So thanks to those that have been listening.

new orleans, we have a problem

nick and sidney were out walking the dogs when both of their phones began to ring. cleo was straining against her leash for another tree as the one in front of her wasn't good enough and sidney used her other hand to answer her phone. "hey michelle, what's goin' on?" it was very rare for michelle, sidney's head of pr to be calling her; in fact the last time they actually spoke in a business capacity was to tell her not to answer any questions about her father in the aftermath of the trial. "have you checked instagram lately?" michelle sounded frantic (but when doesn't she sound frantic?).

"no, not really. why, did something happen?" on the other end of the line, sidney could hear the clicking of a mouse and typing. "only that your baby bump is all over social media. a girl got a picture of you yesterday. i'm emailing it to you now." sidney exited the phone app and saw an email from michelle and she tapped the notification. sure enough, it was a picture of sidney from the other night, her bump on full display.

the girl who posted the picture to her x account, zoey, already had hundreds of replies under the post. the baby bump couldn't even use the excuse of being her clothes being wrinkled or a bulky coat (the last of the cool weather is dying down in new orleans). "oh shit. nick! you have to see this!" she titled the phone to her husband who pulled out her own phone and she saw him pull up x, typing her name in the app's search bar. there were thousands of impressions.

half were congratulatory while the other half were condemning the girl for exposing the couple's private joy ("this is something nick and sidney should've been able to announce for themselves. zoey should be ashamed of herself."). and of course there were the weirdos who thought sidney was "ashamed" of being pregnant and wondered why she didn't want to show off her baby. "so what do you want to do now? should we announce it?" a part of sidney wanted to share this news with the world, that she's expecting a baby with her husband, the love of her life, but the other part wanted to protect this piece of her happiness.

"i don't really see the point of announcing it. i mean, the bump is out there. i don't know what much else is there is to say, but i was hoping we could've waited until gabriella was born to say anything at all." they circled the block for a second time, trying to come up with a solution, and in the end, they still decided to wait until gabriella was born and announce her birth instead. confirming the pregnancy at this time would be pointless because, duh, people can see sidney is clearly pregnant.

they made it back home, where they were preparing dinner and talking about how gabriella should be raised. nick removed the grilled chicken breasts from the air fryer as sidney chopped and wash the vegetables. a few minutes later, they sat down to dinner in the living room, where they turned on hulu, trying to figure out what to watch before settling on shrek on peacock. they split a bag of jalapeño chips on their plates as the movie started. "we can still just announce her birth and leave it at that." and then there's also the issue of going back to work. sidney is due in new york to begin filming her show which would give her a little over a month to recover and bond with the baby.

"maybe we should hire a nanny. my parents can't take care of a baby full time, and you only have a handful of weeks to take off from the tour." nick took a few sips of his water and nodded. "maybe my parents? they can come here for a month, and maybe they can watch gabriella in shifts?" as much as sidney loves her in laws, it was a lot to ask two people to pack up and basically move to another state for a handful of months to take care of a baby. "it wouldn't hurt to ask." the nanny idea would be put on the back burner for the time being.

over the course of the movie they wondered if gabriella would like shrek, if she would be more drawn to music or acting when she was older, how she would be raised, and nick asked her how parents managed. "the only thing my parents had to really worry about was perez hilton as far as the internet was concerned, and i wasn't allowed to have a myspace page, but i found around that one anyway, but i think this is a conversation you're gonna have to have with them. or you can talk to danielle and kevin."

sidney turned her attention back to the movie, putting chips on her plate. his two oldest nieces alena and valentina are being raised in new jersey by their musician father and a mother with no ties to the entertainment industry, in the age of social media where your every move is announced by an update account, while sidney was raised in louisiana with her actor father and journalist mother, way before social media was a thing. by the time sidney decided to take acting seriously, everyone had a myspace account and facebook was in infancy. there are definitely stark differences of course, but he could see where things were equal: sidney had a normal-ish life and alena and valentina's lives are normal as well.

that's what he wants for gabriella. for her to grow up without prying eyes. he'd have to ask johnny and simone for advice and his brother for some advice.

We're making this first post as a way to introduce ourselves and tell you why we even exist in the first place.

First, a little background. As you have likely noticed, the whole world is moving to a model where people don't/can't own anything anymore and are relegated to renting their goods and services via subscription. The race to this model has seen many powerful companies abandon products, services, and even entire industries that work really well as they try to be the next Facebook, Amazon, Google, Netflix, etc...

One of these markets is Blu-rays and DVDs, or more broadly, "physical media". The fact is that people actually love physical media. They love owning their content, ad-free, in HD. Let's face it - nobody wants to sit through a Charmin commercial (funny as they are) while deep in the drama of a show on Hulu. Doesn't it make more sense to just, buy the content and own it?

Funny thing is - it makes sense for fans and it also makes financial sense for the studios.

That's why we created Starlight. Starlight takes content from creators we all love on streaming platforms like Youtube, and puts it on studio-quality Blu-ray and DVD sets, so we can watch what we came to watch, ad-free, and in HD - instead of a Geico commercial.

If big studios think the sun's set on disc, then we're working under starlight. Stay tuned for our first release!✨

nobody can deny sebs fans are the loudest when it comes to any project he appears on 🤷🏽‍♀️ when the official accounts post anything about him, he gets the most likes out of anyone 🤷🏽‍♀️ there's a reason why the Hulu account is always mentioning Sebastian and not lily or why the fresh account would post the most about Seb and not daisy.. you just can't deny that. again, if it was because of Pamela then why isn't her documentary in the first Netflix spots? the documentary is under the movies category 🤷🏽‍♀️

Seb and Lily nailed the looks and the social media. But the project--not them--drove the Variety and NYT pieces, etc., which set the media hype

Anon 6: What audiences? People in their 20s and 30s? Not sure if that's what you meant, but it feels like it, I guess. Because I'm in my early 40s, and I definitely remember the scandal AND Tommy and Pam's fame prior to the scandal. I feel like the documentary was developed to hit people my age hard, given that we lived through it the first time with one set of eyes, and now we're looking at it again with our MeToo eyes.

Vamp - being the loudest fans on social media doesn't translate to critical or commercial success.

Pam & Tommy was successful due to a myriad of reasons - engaging story, solid direction, great acting, appeal with critics, effective marketing, word of mouth momentum - to name a few.

If Seb's fans could make that kind of impact, all his films would be making bank.

So with Halloween right around the corner (as of this post its 5 days away) I wanted to make a list of goofy films that I would recommend to anyone looking for something fun to watch this Halloween Season!

Evil Dead/Evil Dead 2 (1981 & 1987)

Most people probably know Evil Dead for the second film and the TV series, but if you're gonna watch one I highly recommend watching both the first 2 films (as of this post they're both on Hulu currently, along with the series)

Best synopsis I can give without spoilers is that the first film is the whole "Teens go to a Cabin in the woods and demonic shanigans ensue" concept.

The 2nd film (due to Sam Raimi being unable to reclaim the rights of the first film from New Line Cinema) starts with a shortened version of the first films plot crammed into a good 10-15 minutes; the film does find its own voice by continuing the events of the first films ending into the remainder of the 2nd film.

Eight Legged Freaks (2002)

Is this film a masterpiece? No. Is this film Oscar worthy? No. Is this one of the most subtly self aware creature features that isn't bad for the sake of being bad? Yes abso-fucking-lutely

Listen if you like campy and fun horror movies and can stomach a movie filled with spiders, than I highly recommend watching this; this is what I like to think as the last modern creature feature, as the directors were intentionally trying to make a film in the spirit of classic 50's monster flicks.

Also if you've ever wanted to see David Arquette spray a spider in the face with perfume or watch Matt Czuchry kick a spider in the jaw while riding a dirt bike, then this is your movie.

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

The zombie film that truly started all Zombie films, this is a must see for any die hard zombie fan, or just horror fan in general; made at a time when zombies hadn't even had a full name yet (and racial tensions were still high (this is relevant btw)) this film is arguably one of the purest zombie films, and you see what is almost campy but genuine fear in the characters who are encountering zombies for the first time.

And as for the racial tension, it stems from its casting in the role of Duane Jones playing the character of Ben the lead survivor; a role initially intended for a white lead, Duane was chosen for having given the best performance of his peers. But into production there are some lines that, when spoken in the film, feel much more racially charged than even the director George A. Romero had even intended.

The ending especially has a truly harsh end where you're just left in awe, and I do not want to spoil the ending or anything in the film as this is the kind of film you have to see with your own eyes.

Re-Animator (1985)

If you ever wanted something akin to a modern Frankenstein, then look no further than Re-Animator from 1985 (as well as its sequels)

Re-Animator is one of those films that was made with the intent to push boundaries, and by God it sure as hell did, with the director wanting to create a film as violent, nudity filled, and gorey as possible (I'm paraphrasing but you get the idea)

Jeffrey Combs in one of his most famous/iconic roles, Dr Herbert West is one of those horror characters who you can't help but love despite being the most twisted individuals in the film.

I guarantee you'll be glowing green with joy by the time you finish the film.

Any Major Slasher Film

Let's be real, I can't finish this off without at least 1 Slasher film, so why not mention multiple?

The horror genre wouldn't truly be the horror Genre if we didn't have Slasher Films and their iconic killers, some of which have become so famous they rival even the most popular of characters.

So why not make a list-within-a-list of the Slasher films that I think are integral to the Halloween Season!

Friday the 13th (the first original 3 traditionally or the 2009 reboot if you want a speed run that's doesn't stomp of the original)

Ghost Game Pre-game

Hello Digifandom, unless you've been living under a rock (or just sick for a week) You've probably heard about Digimon Ghost Game, the new anime set to start airing in October.

This is pretty big news for the brand. The last time we had a new season airing immediately after another season it has no relation to is back in 2002 with frontier.

The last time we got Not-adventure was back with Appmon, which started airing October 2016, five years before Ghost Game will make its debut.

The Vital Bracelet is so successful Bandai expanded it to two other IPs, the current anime is likely airing about 12-15th in weekly viewership (hard to tell where precisely because they only post top 10), and seems to clock in above more recognizable brands like Pokemon or Boruto.

By all indications Ghost Game is keeping its current timeslot, which is kinda insane to begin with, since airing right before One Piece on the one morning a week kids don't have school has to be premium real-estate.

But I didn't make this post to highlight how well the franchise is doing. But more because my experience in this is, whenever Digimon gets a new IP, the fandom tends to be very self-defeating, and I'd like to get ahead of that.

Yes, it is Digimon

I'm not sure if this is the best place to say this; perhaps I'm preaching to the choir. But when a new series is announced, the loudest chorus is people dismissing it out of hand. Digimon is no stranger to experimenting with themes and the general response?:

Frontier wasn't Digimon, it was a power rangers knockoff.

Savers wasn't Digimon, Marcus had no goggles.

Xros Wars wasn't Digimon, there are no levels and's it's just a mecha series.

Appmon isn't Digimon, it's Appmon, in the name.

Of course, Frontier is now generally one of the more warmly remembered series, Savers pretty much didn't use gimmicks. Xrossing is just an extreme of jogressing which iirc predates the anime. and Appmon is just Digimon with a fresh coat of paint.

I don't know how this season is going to go. All we really know about it is that it seems to be based on the VB, but do keep in mind it seems almost anything could be seen as a reason something 'isn't Digimon’.

I state this mostly because I've been duped by this myself. The first time I watched Xros Wars I dropped it like 15 episodes in. While preparing for Digiweek last month I rewatched portions and remembered how much I loved Yuu, who doesn't even appear until more than halfway through.

Dismissing things out of hand is a great way to narrow your worldview.

It's For Kids

Well duh, they're all for kids (other than tri/Kizuna I guess). Just because you aren't a kid anymore doesn't mean that changed.

I've seen a few bizarre takes that this is attempting to knock off Yokai Watch. Bizarre because by all accounts I can tell the franchise is currently going stronger than YW. YW's Anime has been plodding along for a while now, but I believe its ratings have been lower than the Adventure reboots, and the franchise as a whole has been struggling outside of japan. And finally, Bandai owns Yokai watch (at least the toys I think?), so there's no reason they'd compete against themselves.

But even if it's not knocking off YW, it's still for kids of some sort. As was Adventure and tamers and well, everything. That's not inherently bad, just because an item is targeted towards kids doesn't mean they are the only ones who can enjoy it.

That said, it might start slow. Think about your favorite Digimon moments, the ones that really stuck with you. I'm guessing they did not occur in the first 10 episodes.

I'm generalizing a bit, but it feels like the moments people really enjoy don't seem to start coming until about episode 20+

That said:

You Don't Have to Watch it

I'm not here to gatekeep. I'm not going to call you less of a Digimon fan if you haven't watched every season.

A standard 50 episode season is ~17h long, assuming you trim opening/last time/next time/ending to make each episode roughly 20 minutes. That's a lot of time.

If you aren't enjoying yourself, you can do other things.

I personally think in fandom we need to accept "I just don't like it" as a general answer. Don't ask people to assign logic to an emotional response, you won't be able to argue them out of it.

On top of which, we have no idea if this will be legally available outside of Japan on launch. Appmon wasn't. The reboot is, but we don't know why Hulu dropped it.

Anyway, "don't like, don't watch" is probably preferable at this point to hate-watching. Since you won't give it a chance once you get hate-watching.

TLDR

New anime is good for the brand, no it won't be exactly like the others, yes it's still Digimon, yes it's for kids.

Maybe now we can all go into this with open minds and reasonable expectations.

Honest question because I’m actually really really curious. Do you not watch anything with a tie to crypto? Cause I also fucking hate crypto but I feel like dimension 20 is so important. Just because of the varying representation in all aspects. And I feel like in a smaller company like them deciding to make it a point of putting on actors of varying race and gender is so massive in the dnd community. (Not saying it’s a 100% shining example but comparatively to some other big shows) I understand you’re point about not being able to stomach watching and supporting a company who has someone on their payroll who’s into crypto but I’m just confused because anything on Hulu, Netflix, or Amazon Prime is already connected to crypto because of who owns them. How do you set up that harsh of a line? Is it just a personal vibes kinda thing? I’m sorry if I’m not wording any of this properly :( I respect your decision!

I don't think I explained it very clearly in my original post, so to be clear- its not just that Ally is doing crypto. carolyn page is also into crypto, she mentioned it in a breaking news skit, and im sure other members of the cast are as well. If the whole bit had just been a quick "i'll send you a referral link to ethereum", I might have been ok watching dimension 20. What Ally did- linking crypto to being on Testosterone- hurt me a lot. Ally is the biggest transmasc figure I know. I admired them and was happy to see them succeed. So when they joked that T makes you get into crypto, I felt betrayed.

So now, my options are do nothing, which in my head is basically agreeing haha yep, all transmasc people love polluting the environment, isnt that so quirky of us (to be clear I don't mind jokey generalizations. i think comments about transmascs getting into cars or having their favorite old man games are fun), or I could do.... something, anything, to say no, that generalization is wrong. I'm a small time blogger, nobody gives a shit what I say. The least I could do is, well, stop consuming their content.

What Ally said hurt me, which I acknowledge is a bit parasocial on my part. I intend to work on that, and my emotions rn in general, in my own time. It doesn't change the fact I don't want to consume anything they help produce, and since they're so tightly wound up with dropout in my head, I don't want to watch anything on dropout, at all. Which is why I'm not calling for people to stop watching dropout shows, I've just been explaining why I, personally, no longer feel comfortable watching dropout shows, and why I won't be active on this blog anymore. Keep watching if you like, I've got no skin in the game anymore.

(for the record, "Do you not watch anything with a tie to crypto?"- I do my best not to. I don't pay for any streaming services besides dropout (🏴‍☠) and I don't watch youtube channels or listen to musicians who I know are into crypto (I'm not on twitter so I'm not usually up to date). Something doesn't feel right.

It's surely the empty seat besides you where your boyfriend would usually reside but not today. He decided to go to a party his fraternity was throwing. He deemed you would hate him if he was to go to one ever since you started dating which is why he hadn't gone to one in so long. Jungkook even took you out for dinner. 

The whole night consisted of him being sweet to you, way too sweet. Not a jokingly insult was hurled your way how you two normally act towards one another. He took the chance to ask you if he could attend the party. 

The question struck you a bit. You didn't want him asking you permission to go somewhere, you never wanted to be that couple. You didn't want to eventually become the girlfriend who hogged all of his attention. You just wished he wouldn't bail out on you all the time like he used to. You assured him that he didn't have to ask you permission to go to such places yet he still felt awkward.

You sat on your couch, searching through Hulu. You contemplated whether or not to watch Rick and Morty, the show you two watch together. Knowing your boyfriend, he would whine about you watching it without him. You exited and scrolled through Netflix. Your attention was divided, one on the movie you were watching and the other on Jungkook's text. In the end you selected a random movie, choosing to just have it as background noise to swallow the silence in the room that was normally filled with Jungkook and you. 

You explored through your Instagram. Reloading your page again, your heart stopped. Taehyung had uploaded a picture. He was taking up most of the picture but Jungkook is still seen in the edge, grinning like an idiot with a bottle of beer in his hand. The others are a blur. 

You felt guilty for going ease from the sight of no girl nearby. You were still insecure despite his comfort. 

You liked the picture, reading the caption before going on to the explore page. You find yourself looking at memes, sending the funniest ones to Jungkook. You didn't care that you sent him twenty-two messages and he'll probably respond the next morning as long as he sent you twenty-two texts back instead of a singular response. 

It's around one in the morning when you receive a thread of messages from your boyfriend coming all at once. You were half awake, body threatening to enter slumber. You frowned with squinted eyes when your phone screen shined. Tiredly, you unlocked your phone.

Before you can reply to him, his name flashed over your phone screen. You swiped across the screen, bringing your phone up to your ear. You regret doing so as Jungkook screamed into the phone that he has more beautiful feet than you which you can not deny. There's a hiccup before he continued. "I'm like so fucking drunk right now. I miss you so much, I wish you came," his speech is a little slurred but you don't mind. "But I know you hate being surrounded by a lot of people, claustrophobic bitch."

You laughed into the speaker. Jungkook enjoyed every second of it. "You know what? At least I'm not afraid of a microwave." 

You heard him gasp on the other line. "Microwaves have the potential to blow up and shit! Why the hell are you afraid of a spider that's not even half your size?" Jungkook shook his head, remembering how last week you forced him to kill a spider in the corner of the room. He tried to convince you to leave it alone but you weren't having it. 

"They're fucking spiders! Almost everyone in the world is afraid of them even your mom!" he stayed silent for a second. Right when he was ready to defend himself he suddenly realized his mother does have a fear of spiders. "Aww, cat got your tongue, bubba?" 

Jungkook giggled, laying out on his bed. An empty spot next to him where your body would occupy it. He doesn't say anything else, choosing to listen to your breathing. You call out his name, wondering if he dozed off. Jungkook hummed into the speaker. "I think I'm going to have to cut this short and go to bed. I love you," he smiled only to be met with silence. His cheeks burned in embarrassment and he was ready to open his mouth and drunkenly take everything back. 

"Goodnight, don't think you're going to remember in the morning but I love you too," your voice was quiet. It almost drove Jungkook to tears from how small you sounded, almost as if scared to confess to him. 

He hung up first, falling asleep quickly despite being disturbed by the void place besides him. You don't fall asleep right after. In fact, you don't sleep the whole night. Your mind too focused on your conversation.

Okay, I'm sure Love, Victor will be great and all but damn it there is an ACTUAL sequel book to Simon vs The Homosapiens Agenda called Leah on The Offbeat, and damn it IT deserves the series or movie or whatever. A bisexual, canonically not stereotypically attractive girl. Who's like rad. I want Leah NOT Victor.

Why is it ALWAYS gay boys? Time after time we see boys who are gay WAY more heavily accepted in mainstream media (at least in the teenage sense).

This is ESPECIALLY true of Disney. Finally growing a pair and making the character of Cyrus was great. I will take NOTHING away from that boy. Then we HSMTMTS which in itself is kind of a disaster but we are introduced to two pretty stereotypical gay teenage boys (Carlos, choreographer Seb,Sharpay). Okay. We've covered the gay boy bases, yes? No. APPARENTLY NOT. Now I am plenty aware that Love, Victor is being made by a division of the Disney company, the recently aquired 20th Century Studios (Fox, Love,Simon rights included). I also know it was moved to be released on Hulu (also owned by Disney) instead of Disney+ which is just cowardly. So maybe the decision was made long ago. I wasn't happy when it was first made and tbh I'm too mad to watch the trailer.

The only lesbiam representation we have seen on Disney Channel or from Disney is in two moms being mentioned or maybe briefly shown. And tbh mainstream media in general doesn't show it much. Especially since Glee ended. Yes. Netflix did a lot, ODAAT (now on PopTV) and OITNB and Everything Sucks and recently with Never Have I Ever and I'm Not Okay With This. But, Netflix is a STREAMING service. They are in my opinion still not the mainstream.

And honestly. I'm focused on 7+ y.o targeted audiences. Especially tween and teen. ODAAT, & Never Have I Ever are targeted that way. I'm Not Okay With This is borderline. But let's be honest. Disney owns ABC. They own Fox. They own anything branded Disney. The only place they've been reasonable is Freeform, the ABC throw out channel. Most notable lesbians? MOMS. On The Fosters (great show bu).

This is getting long-winded. But the point is, they turned away EXSISTING material to write another gay boy. I'm sorry. It just seems unreasonable. I don't know all the logistics. But it seems pretty clear. More representation for WLW. Disney, I'm calling you out. Get your act together.

EDIT: Wow so apparently this post blew up. Anyway, at the start of this I did say Love, Victor will probably be great. Tbh, if the show had nothing to do with Simon, I don't think I would be mad. I think the show has great potential. Thanks to those pointing out Victor is Latino and that the show will represent LGBT+ POC.
