Hello friends, hello mutuals, hello dimension dyfenders fans and hello people who like indie cartoon/comic stuff in general! Comet here. Once Again. and this time i've got something ig this year. This was supposed to release on May 29th, but due to Ren not coming back for a long time because they needed to prioritize irl stuff, of course, we had to delay it.

But, but, BUT! thankfully I had a few things ready after all, however as for some other things else, we'll get to it much later, when the moment calls. Now, let's get off with the first one.

You Kinda... Look Different.

You may have noticed that Dislexo looks a bit different than usual (darker skin, a bit of shorter hair, etc.), in case you're wondering why... Yeah, you're about to find out.

So, while I was thinking and drawing up some D.D related stuff, I was brainstorming a little by my lonesome. All of the sudden, as I was making a new render for a character, I was like... "Wait a minute... What if I give Dislexo a new look which is a mix between a secretary and a butler but keep it's elements from what made their design unique?" and So, the new and improved Dislexo was born!

Honestly i'm proud of what they look like now. I just hope i won't (or will) get to redesign ALL of the cast again so suddenly lol! Anyways, thats just a small change I made, nothing too big. Now, let's get on something else... which is...

Pocket Adventures' current status + how's minisode 1 coming along

You might be asking inside your minds, "i wonder when more of minisode 1 will drop", "where are the new parts?"- Well, i got the answer. It'll only come only when im completely finished. However i havent been working much on it aside from making a few pages a few months ago, but hopefully this summer i may get back to it and finish it all up if i can. The final script is 73% percent complete, as for the comic itself, let's just say its 58%. I promise you i'm taking my time with delivering everything i can for this minisode. However i might republish the minisode with the series' current artstyle if it ever comes out physically (or either when I'll have the time or energy to do it.) So, now, you may be wondering: "But Comet, what do we do while we wait." Well you're not gonna believe this.

No, it's not an extremely late april fools post! We got new stuff coming soon, recently i've been brainstorming some ideas for brand new content, and you know what? It came to me, HERE'S WHAT'S COMING!

MORE TOONIES COMING YOUR WAY!

THAT'S RIGHT, after months of hiatus, Toonies is coming back with more strips! This time, since summer's coming around, i'll try to post and make more of them and even schedule the finished ones! We got even more covers for it coming, but for now, here's one of them!

More comics are not only gonna explore more of the Dyfenders' and the Dajo Crew's everyday lives in-and-out of their superhero/Villain occupations, we are also going to focus on much more on other characters (at least some of them), and some will last for a few more pages longer! No arcs though, sorry. But hey, you're getting more wackiness as a treat! Now, i know i said this year is not gonna be big like the other two years we had, but...

NEW SPECIAL CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT!

THAT'S RIGHT! We're working on a new special to commemorate our three years! Thought it'd be a nice adiction to this year, we may not reveal the logo and it's title yet, but we can tell you what the sypnosis is about!

You're all invited to the biggest night in the Omniverse, right across it's stars, cosmos, galaxies and portals! Both the Dimension Dyfenders and the Dajo-Crew are crossing the red (or should we say, blue) carpet in this brand new 3-part special! Prince Dajo-Voo has a new plan on how to take over the gala, all while he tries to self-control himself from doing the same explosive incident he did back then. The Dyfenders may be having a great time at the gala, but rest assured, they'll be sure to keep a close eye on him. Here's to a Rift-errific and (hopefully) trouble-free gala!

As a bonus, when the production on all three parts are done, we'll be posting Toonies comics related to the special, which may feature a new character who will debut later on in Pocket Adventures! We don't know when it'll exactly be out, my guesses would be either summer, september or next May 2025. But rest assured, we'll be working on it, but we won't rush it out.

So... What's next?

Honestly, i can't really tell. But I can assure you i still have so may plans for this series, plans that will be put in action in the far-off future. What i really hope to do is to make animated shorts as well, not just Toonies strips, pocket adventures minisodes and comic dubs of it. Maybe if we'll ever make a backerkit or a kickstarter for it and get a budget, it might happen (along with more VAs joining in.) Speaking of VAs, in case you're a VA and you haven't auditioned yet, anytime is the right time! (this is still a test leap, but if it succeeds it may go further.)

but for now, we're sticking to comics, and then, if possible we'll get to comic dubs and so on.

thoughts on the new season so far??

i just watched the 2nd arc and bro .......

SEASON 2 SPOILERS AHEAD!

(and a big big biiiiig rant)

first things first! the artstyle is amazing!! fortiche made a reaaaaaly good job. the way we can clearly see and understand what the characters feel is so crazy yk?? this animation is the best thing lol related that riot spend its money on.

also, isha is the cutest child in the whole world and, if they die, im going riot on fking riot i swear to u, this child can't die! i would be so sad, really. but, now talking about the series itself, i do like how things are going but i just feel like its a bit rushed ?? idk but its just too much information all at once and everything is happening at the same time and aaaargh its all too much. i just ... cant process it all and be like "ok cool i liked it and understood it" no! i cant!! even though i play lol and understand a bit of its lore, its still hard to comprehend, especially now that almost every character that is both in league and in arcane is getting a full remake on their background stories.

but i do like some stuff, like the black rose and medardas stuff happening (and omg im dieing to see leblanc on the screen, i really want to see her), jinx and vi finally being able act like sisters again, the most heartbreaking angst i've ever seen (jayvik and caitvi), orianna my sweetheart!! finally appearing, more secondary characters screen time (sevika, singed, ekko, scar...), and some of the background stuff being revealed as the episodes goes on. its all good but theres just some thing that i personally dont like :/

such as viktor. yep.

he is completely different from his league self, and i know he is going to get a rework on the game soon, but i really wished he could make to his glorious evolution and all but instead he starts a cult????? something that he hated on the original lore???? bcs this meant that people looked at him like he was a savior, but he wasn't. he just wanted to help but people treated him like a divine being and he associated the things these people felt with being weak, so he despised them. he hated feelings and he stripped himself of those. but now he is a saint. and he have a cult. that him, the machine herald, started. idk its just not like him at all???? i just dont feel like its him. nor the sky (i dont think that the sky he sees is the real sky ok, i think its the hexcore) he talks to, she sounds so unlike her.

but oh boy he is pretty, bro is rocking his jesus era but i still wish we could get to see his full machine self. i really want to see him flesh and steel, augmented self, a complete mess of what once was human yk? but i think we wouldn't get machine herald vik :(((

also, another thing i didn't like is the warwick/vander. at first i thought he would be just like the game, but then he came to viktor's cult alongside vi, jinx and isha, and he aint the blood thirsty animal we have on the game and im a bit disappointed :(

oh and i wished that some of the league characters made to the series, like renata glasc, blitzcrank and janna, bcs renata helped viktor became what he is now in the game, blitz is viktor's invention and janna is the most knowed goddess in both piltover and zaun. so why not yk?

and jayce goddam talis putting a hole on viktor heart is just so ?????? what? yk????? im shocked but i understand him. he promised to destroy hexcore. and he did. but i didn't expected it to be like this!

i just watched the last episode and now im praying so hard, wishing that vik turns into machine since hes dieing. and if he does, be sure that i will be literally screaming. im going to be the happiest person in the whole world, i swear!

but overall, arcane is sooooo good but im a bit sad that they changed so much the characters lore. anyways, sorry for this big rant!! and if i typed something wrongly, im really sorry! im sleepy now but i needed to let my thoughts flow since i just finished 2nd act. oh and thank u for asking though, anon! :DDD

Ehhh, the relationship with me and how i feel about about HH is a long one, considering ive been following viv since her deviantart days lol. well i wasn't ever that much of a fan, mostly cuz ive never been too into that stretchy cartoonish artstyle she used to use for her comic "Zoophobia" buuuuut i had to hand it to her- she def managed to accomplish something a lot of us wish we could do with our world buildings huh? so ill give her that much lmao. but I'm gonna say that i haven't watched the show YET.

tho as far as controversies surrounding her uh... religion imagery goes- even as someone whos been brought up as a religious muslim- i don't really care tbh. you need to have a certain level of capacity for satire like this and if you don't, its really not for you //shrug. mostly to say you need to really know your own rights and wrongs to not be affected by a cartoon made by people who have their own beliefs yknow?

but as far as the story has gone so far in Helluva boss im not really.... ANYWAY- its fiction, and i don't have to like EVERY aspect of it, i don't think the writing is GREAT i don't think its AWFUL- currently I'm in a very big MEH area towards it lmao-

but i can say for certain that i absolutely LOVE the songs and adore them- especially thankful of having found one of my favorite artists eVER through HH- "SILVA HOUND"- there is almost no work that he has put up that i don't go crazy over- when the beat drops i feel my soul ascend yall don't understand 😭 <33333333

and well finally the art i guess? i like it, not bad, kinda tired seeing so many people trying to imitate it to a tee- i agree that imitation is the highest form of flattery lmao but it gets old when everyone's trying to be similar yknow? but character-design-wise, again, i feel like the character designs are amazing? but.... misplaced i guess.... we all know that these characters are vivzies old ocs, but lore wise- none of the characters look like what they are supposed to be... like we all know the issue with Beelzebub, sigh, that was weird for my eyes to behold as someone who remembers queen bee from zoophobia- and im not even sure if Vaggie is a moth anymore considering her uh... new backstory??? was she even a human at some point anymore? is Adam a human? are half of the heaven population wearing masks? why do they look like characters from monsters inc. that got a yassified by James Charles?? im... so confused lmao. why do angels have horns and hell sinners have wings?? looking at husker- skipping the Alastor controversies- yada yada yada- is Charlie supposed to be a goat when neither of her parents are- yeah okay im tired never mind.

short version: its interesting on the eyes, confusing to the brain XD

overall my final comment is: its fun as long as you don't take it religiously serious ;p

@fucking-leave-me-alone-pornbots requested my thoughts on AA5 so uh. Hough. Here we go. Under the cut bc it’s Long. Also disclaimer I am writing this completely off the cuff so don't put too much stock in it. I didn't edit nor think that hard about it

After flip-flopping on my dual destinies opinions for the entirety of my playthrough I have come to the conclusion that it is a very good game that collapses under the dead weight of its predecessors. It's so dedicated to carrying around the corpse of the games that came before it that the moments it has to itself are few and far between and the entire game is worse for it. I still like it tho :)

So off the bat I'm gonna admit I'm actually a big fan of the 3D. It took me a while to warm up to it in the same way it took me a while to adjust to the more smooth sprites of AA4, but ultimately I think it's just an artstyle and one that was used well. All of the characters designed for these games fit effortlessly into the models, often capitalizing on the new tech and having expressions and animations that wouldn't work in 2D. We get fresh concepts for designs, breakdowns, and animations and honestly I think the artists have a really good understanding of how to use 3D to their advantage to do things that would look Bad in 2D. Uuuuuunfortunatley this goes both ways, and everyone dredged from the 2D abyss looks like a complete dumpster fire. Phoenix, Apollo, and ESPECIALLY Edgeworth look so fucking ugly to me in 3D. Smth smth that is not my beautiful wife etc

As for the gameplay, I actually really like the mood matrix. The dialogue is cheesy as sin and does provide the unintentional comedy of everyone being fine with mid-court therapy sessions run by 18 year olds, but sure, whatever, this is Ace Attorney. I love asking serial killers why they're sad. The mood matrix also looks insanely cool and I love the shift to a more storybook artstyle when it's used. That being said though, I think it could have been utilized a bit better / more frequently-- and that perceive / the psyche locks should have been removed entirely. I understand they were going for the "hear no evil see no evil speak no evil" thing, but Perceive and Psyche-Locks show up like once each and that's it and it feels out of place. Honestly just another example of earlier games stealing spotlight that the new content desperately needed (we will get to that). But honestly, all of this ties back into my biggest issue with the game which is that it walks in the limbo between direct sequel and soft reboot so that it manages to bungle the landing for Both, which sucks. This issue hits the gameplay, the writing, and the art direction and it bums me out big time

I have changed my opinion on the writing probably a dozen times at this point, originally hating it at the beginning of the game for being so far divorced from AA4, then loving it when I stopped thinking of it in comparison to the other games, then hating it again when I got to the finale. Now I'm just mixed on it, mostly because I've started to be able to pinpoint exactly where the problem is. Everything new is fantastic. Athena's ability? Great. Athena's banter? Great. Athena? Great. Simon is hilarious and adds a fun prosecutor / defense dynamic (which I will get to in more detail later), Fulbright managed to grow on me by the end of the game (lol. lmfao, even.), and the prosecution/defense shared backstory brought back all the drama and intrigue I loved about Turnabout Goodbyes. In terms of the new, more original content, I think they really nailed it-- with the exception of having absolutely zero subtlety whatsoever with the themes, which were also really fucking stupid but whatever. I think this image just about sums it up

The entire premise of the dark age of the law being tied to two specific events when we have had 4 villains in a row be part of that metaphorical dark age before it was supposed to happen is like. Insane? It's insane. There's no reason for that particular point to be pushed so hard or made this explicit when previous games did just fine with them. However I don't actually judge this That harshly because other games in the series are also ham-fisted as hell with specific morals and lessons, especially in the final trials (I am looking at you JFA.). This one was especially annoying, but not the only one I personally found lackluster. Even the gameplay this time around was a little less vague (the characters outright tell you where to investigate, what to present, and who to talk to at times) but it's not something game breaking for me. It's slightly worse than other games, but it's far from egregious. it's, as Mr. Justice would say, Fine.

However speaking of Justice and being fine, his writing was decidedly Not Fine. Clay has got to be the worst example of telling rather than showing I have ever seen, and is one in a Very Long List of issues I have with the writing of this game. A lot of Dual Destinies feels like it was made for reveals, with all the legwork and lead-up coming as a bit of an afterthought. It's especially painful to see in Case 3, which feels like a series of loosely connected Mini-Reveals without much interesting progression to connect them. Robin is revealed to be a girl, but that reveal is used in a way that makes Zero Sense and then deemed irrelevant before that trial day is even over. So many decisions in DD feel this way, where characters act in ways that don't feel true to their characters to service a reveal that oftentimes doesn't even matter to the final trial. The sense of cohesion is just Not There, and so much of the cases feel like they're there for the shock factor and not in service of any kind of narrative. I felt myself going through cases wondering why the first half or third or 3/4 felt like a waste of time, like the trial could-- and should-- have been wrapped up in 15 minutes of gameplay instead of spinning its wheels. Luckily Blackquill carries that game on his broad, emo shoulders so even if the writing infuriates me, the character dynamics and voices manage to keep things entertaining

I am not going to talk at length about the issues I have with Apollo's characterization because we would be here all day and also I would make myself angry. Also Phoenix should barely be in this game. this sums up my thoughts nicely

I think a good example of the issues I have with the previous games preventing this game from reaching its potential can be summed up pretty well by the interactions of the prosecution and defense. While I adore Apollo (he's my favorite aa character) I also understand people's hesitation with him as a protagonist because he is, in a vacuum, very similar to Phoenix in a lot of ways. Athena, my beloved, does not have this problem. She is EXTREMELY distinct from every other defense attorney we've seen and it gives her incredible banter with every prosecutor she comes across which feels extremely distinct from Phoenix. She has a really unique way of engaging with the process of Being A Defense Attorney that really separates her from other characters and I think that makes her trials shine. Apollo, meanwhile, doesn't always make himself stand out from Phoenix when they're dealing with specific prosecutors. I think Klavier carries a LOT of AA4 because of his incredibly unique approach to prosecuting in the same way that Athena does for defense. The friendliness and dynamic between him and the defense attorney is totally unique, it's a complete shakeup of the formula, and it brings out aspects of Apollo that make him lovable and distinct. DD takes him away from that lifeline and as a result he ends up becoming a little muddled with Phoenix in certain cases. Meanwhile, the new and unique dynamic we DO get with Athena doesn't reach its full potential because they barely let her do anything. As much as I adore Apollo and wish he got another game before DD to properly expand on everything from AA4, I think his role in DD should have been drastically different than it was because he does Not Work in this formula as well as he should. Apollo and Phoenix take up far too much space in this game that Athena and Simon desperately needed

I might throw more stuff in the reblog if I think of it / decide I want to ramble about case 5 (because I could ramble a Lot about case 5) but honestly? Love DD a lot, love the designs, love the banter, LOVE the new characters, I just think the best parts of the game don't have their chance to shine because Some People (glances at Apollo and Phoenix) show up just a bit too often. Worst part of this game tho? Simon doesn't get confetti. Seven years in prison and they can't even give him confetti. For Shame.

I'm perhaps one of the most easy to please Pokemon fans ever. I wouldn't identify myself as a nintendo fanboy or anything even though I love a lot of their IPs (largely because the number one prerequisite to being a "nintendo fanboy" is hating Nintendo more than anything on earth it seems), but I will be the first to admit my standards are much lower than they should be. I eat up everything Pokemon related like the blindly eager little consumer I am, I've beaten every main series game and damn near every spin-off.

All this to say I think it says something when even I haven't beaten BDSP yet, and not for lack of trying. But the game bored me to tears. I've reset my saves on that game more than any other I have in the hopes that "well, maybe the next file I'll be more attached to". I can eat my way through new Pokemon games when they first come out in a few days and never put them down, but whenever I'd put BDSP down I'd have to reset my file again when I picked it back up because I no longer cared about whatever I had going on.

I've been grappling with this for a long time, trying to figure out what it is about this remake that makes it the one Pokemon game someone as easy to please as me couldn't care enough to finish. I'll be fully honest when I say I'll happily take whatever table scraps Game Freak cares to toss me and I'm not proud of that fact lol. I love Gen 4, it's one of my favorite Gens, and I actually like the BDSP artstyle too, I think it's a fun way to keep the spirit of the original games, though it really would have been cool to see Sinnoh at full scale and free to explore in 3D.

But today after another attempted replay I think I figured it out. It's the dumb. Fucking. Experience Share.

Pokemon is a turn based RPG, battling is literally the main gameplay loop and I found that I kept putting the game down because I would get so incredibly bored by the battles. None of them felt necessary and all of them felt way too damn easy. Pokemon Scarlet/Violet had this problem too, I noticed, but what got me to finish those games was I'd never experienced the story before and I wanted to see it finished. But with BDSP I know the story, so why should I finish it if the battles are such a drag? In the original Gen 4 I'd make a point of battling every trainer on every route. I'm very meticulous about my leveling and my Pokemon all need to be within one level of each other, lol. So my incentive for fighting every trainer was to keep my team at a high enough level and also to keep my levels rounded out. But with that EXP share they're always rounded, or god forbid they have different growth rates and I have to keep putting Pokemon away to prevent overleveling which just bothers my OCD more than anything lmao.

It also makes me care so much less about my Pokemon. I cared about my team because I took time to individually raise and train each Pokemon, and if I don't care about my Pokemon then frankly I barely care about the game. In Scarlet/Violet where trainer battles have become entirely optional for the most part I barely did any of them! And in BDSP all I am is annoyed by the trainer battles. There's next to no new content to keep the game interesting and give me a reason to keep playing, and when the main gameplay loop isn't even fun anymore, why would I play at all?

I was worriedly thinking that maybe I'm just getting old and it's hampering my enjoyment of the games (Terrifying thought) but I have just as much fun with ROM hacks that I did with older games. Most notably, there's no broken EXP share. Can't we at least get the option to turn it off? I get trying to find a solution to make grinding less of a miserable drag, because grinding is always the worst part of playing Pokemon, but the broken exp share hasn't made grinding less tedious, it's just made battling as a whole feel hollow and boring.

I still want to beat you some day, BDSP, I really do. Nothing makes me feel sadder than being bored by a franchise I love and I know can do better.

the entire reason why i followed you in the first place is because i thought your art was a breath of fresh air in the many repetitive depictions of ganqing where they both simply look ethereal and exist next to one another. Its not that I haven't enjoyed that type of art from time to time but your works have always felt full of personality and grounded in a way I find very hard to come by--on top of the fact that I genuinely enjoy your artstyle.

Your blocky yet sharp lines are genuinely so captivating and distinctive (if i hadn't seen it first hand I wouldn't believe Ganyu would look so pretty like that!) and your alternative version with smoother lines manages to feel simultaneously professional and yet cozy at the same time--a crazy feat to achieve perfect harmony with the Ganqing vibe. Every time your work comes across my dash I instantly know its you and i'm genuinely glad i've been able to keep up with your progress over time (and then being surprised by how many cool games you keep track of on your blog) its been a serious delight.

But despite my parasocial proclivities, another aimless comment praising your art doesn't fix much of anything. You think your art is bland. You think yourself is bland. It wouldn't really matter if the entire world was in love with what you make if you, yourself, were not. So if you don't like the way your art currently looks, why not change it? And if you don't like the way you are, why don't you change that? And if that fails to sate you, change it again? And then again and again and again in search of your ideal. Why would you stop here, being disappointed while only knowing half of the person you could be?

But one, they're homophobic. they've made several homophobic remarks (which i don't have specific evidence of rn so i wont say anymore about that) and even had a bunch of homophobic elements in the death note draft, one that I can think of off the top of my head is the one where aizawa tells them to stop being gay and obsessing over misa or something. there's just things that they didnt need to necessarily show, i understand. Like bathing, pissing, private stuff. A thing like this wouldn't show us that type of scene unless it was relevant. I could argue that it was relevant though lol. So it was left up to the viewer to guess what happened with those scenarios. Because must i remind you, L and Light were chained together for around 3 months. These scenarios had to have happened. and with the emphasis on L not wanting Light to leave his side I, and everyone else, assumed that L wouldn't just unlock the cuff and be like pee break! So what happened during those scenarios? Well, people, including me when I was 12, were like "Ahh gay things happened during those scenes" which is just what happens. If you have a public fictional world, people are going to ship the characters. Lawlight was one of the most popular ships. Ik young and new fans of dn dont know that but it was up there in popularity. Not even in anime circles. Just popular all around.

But o&o heard of this and they decided it was their right to disprove every gay scenario people were coming up with. Which is why you see L in the washing machine drawing. Because how can they shower together if L takes baths in a washing machine huh? checkmate you can't make my character gay! even though it's physically impossible and even if it wasn't, Light, again, would be out of his sight because he'd be in a fucking washing machine. Anyway, they also come up with the solution to using the restroom together, which is just L sits weird. Which honestly isnt bad like it's kind of funny and i get that. But when I known it's just a retaliation against people shipping them it's annoying. (how can peeing being sexy if he pees like this? like peeing together is ever sexy ??:&:!/@!::&) and then the sleeping together bit! o&o had a perfect plan for this...which is L does in fact sleep. But he and his chair fall sideways and that's how he sleeps. and he needs watari to come pick him up. it's just annoying. you can't not show these scenes and basically leave it up for interpretation and then when people are using it gayly you retaliate with childish workarounds.

not to mention the little comics in the back of how to read 13 when they made them so impossibly straight it's hard to read. Like it's embarrassing to read. okay...okay... i didnt know i had this much to say about o&o. i'll be done now.

However, unlike his mild brother, he has no ill feelings against GF; heck, he himself knows their mother was the one that peaced out with no care and just left them at their luck with their dad…he still messes around with GF every so and then though.

this  may  be  an  unpopular  opinion  (actually,  i’m  p  sure  most  of  my  eddie  opinions  are  unpopular)  but...  i’m  kind  of  tired  of  ed’s  character  not  being  able  to  move  on  from  the  ‘66  show.  don’t  get  me  wrong,  frank’s  portrayal  was  indeed  fun!  i  am  actually  very  grateful  for  the  portrayal,  it  did  save  ed’s  character,  i  feel.  it  did  add  to  other  portrayals  of  ed’s  character.  but  it’s  just  that...  every  other  character  has  evolved  from  the  60s  show,  obviously.  eddie,  has  too.  but,  i  feel  more  often  than  other  characters,  ed  either  still  gets  portrayed  as  though  he’s  ‘66  ed,  his  character  references  the  ‘66  role,  or  most  of  his  merch  is  oftentimes  just  ‘66  merch.  when  ed  DOES  get  merch.  (the  only  thing  MEZCO  has  to  offer  is  just  ‘66  ed,  technically  mcfarlane  toys  first  figure  of  him  is  just  ‘66.  even  funko,  there  are  technically  NO  comic  eds,  and  at  least  two  ‘66  eds.  there  is  just  a  lot  of  ‘66  ed  merch.)

in  this  somewhat  recent  comic  of  lotdr,  eddie  was  clearly  designed  after  ‘66  ed.  when  bruce  WASN’T  the  adam  w/est  bruce  lol.

again.  i  do  love  ‘66  ed.  but...  i  don’t  really  feel  it  fits  an  ideal  modern  ed  anymore,  ed  has  quite  changed  from  then.  i  really  wish  he  could  be  brought  up  less  unless  it’s  times  when  appropriate.  (obviously,  the  ‘66  verse  comics,  and  cartoons  are  cool.)  i  mean,  it’s  not  like  we  see  j0ker  constantly  drawn  with  a  mustache  that’s  been  face  -  painted  over.  as  i  also  said,  in  all  these  things  -  bruce  never  behaves  or  looks  like  the  adam  w/est  portrayal.  but  yet,  eddie  just  can’t  seem  to  escape  it.  and  i  do  get  a  little  bored  of  it  from  time  to  time.  whilst  from  what  i’ve  seen,  i  don’t  like  ed’s  portrayal  in  the  HQ  show,  he  still  gives  me  Generic  Villain  vibes,  i  don’t  know  why.  but  at  least  they  didn’t  go  for  the  obvious  joke  of  indeed  just  making  him  ‘66  ed.  (like  i  heard  they  did  with  bane  -  just  making  him  a  t0m  hardy  joke.)

do u have any favorite dj artists?

Yeah, a bunch of them! I’ll name a few, but there are definitely more very cool artists that I’m forgetting about right now. These ones are just those who I came to mind first +  those whose work I had saved for the occasional appreciation.

Please keep in mind that despite me whining about the characters being OOC all the time, these are also somewhat OOC (some of them are very OOC). I guess their characteristics are simply shifted in a way that we like so I don’t mind is as much, and sometimes the concept/artstyle/everything is just way too good for me to think about how character act.

Another disclaimer: the words “weird” and “messed up” are going to be used a bunch of times, but I mean them as compliments. When it comes to us and djs, the weirder and more messed up they are, the merrier. Here is the list with my little and not helpful summaries:

Atsukunare Kubota (Ereri) – I’d marry her djs if I could lol Her artstyle is so much fun to look at, her ideas are, well, a little weird, but this is why I love them – you’ll never be like “oh right I forgot that I read that”, they’ll be stuck with you forever. And I mean it, it really is the type of stuff where you go “oh I’m not sure if I’m going to like it- woah ok that was fun I’m kind of into it”. I’m so sad she doesn’t post new stuff on pixiv anymore… 

Ongre/Onjire/Tamy (Ereri) – another fave when it comes to Ereri djs. Her works are extremely funny and fun to read, some of them radiate such chaotic energy... it’s so enjoyable to watch lol Her Eren is insane, her Levi is grumpy and cute and she always does her best to showcase how feral Eren is and how adorable Levi is. She has good nsfw scenes too!

8205 (Ereri) – this one is very dear to me and very unique. 8205’s work is very interesting, she rewrites everything about the characters – their age, their “role” (for example, in the latest dj Reiner and Bert are Connie’s grandparents), and it still works well somehow?? Sometimes it all feels ridiculous and funny, but it still is very touching and beautiful. And creepy, it’s also creepy from time to time, I love it. I think I’d read those works even if they weren’t SnK djs. There are some nsfw scenes here and there, but not many, unfortunately. Katsu’s note: I’m ready to die for her Eren and for the author’s fashion sense.  

Zokugun Porno/Inumoto (Ereri) – their djs are more story-oriented, and their stories are interesting to read. I wouldn’t call them super creepy or dark and heavy per-se, but there is some ehh fleur of tragedy in some of their work. The atmosphere is amazing, I love this type of stuff. These djs also have some nice nsfw scenes, these are amazing too. Oh, and I really like how they work with Eren/Levi dynamic and incorporate it into AUs. 

Melomelow/Hyura (Eruri) – our all-time fave. The queen of size difference between Levi and Erwin. Her nsfw scenes are hot af, her Erwin is not ok in a beautiful way, her Levi is… well I was thinking for 5 min but I couldn’t come up with a perfect way to describe him lol, he’s just too good.

Chiruchiru (Eruri) – she has some good depressing djs, some more or less light-hearted ones, but her nsfw scenes are always great (and sometimes it gets weird…). She does Eruri’s size difference justice too, I appreciate her work a lot. 

Hakodume/x_hako (Eruri) – I absolutely adore her work. The storyboard, the frame composition, the artstyle itself – it’s gorgeous. Too bad she keeps deleting all of her galleries ;w; Her work is mostly sfw though, but still, very beautiful.

Uchu Kago (Eruri) – I don’t even have words for this one, every time they’re kind enough to share their dj in its entirety on pixiv I cry a little because of how good their Eruris are. Their AUs are very interesting, they has tons of very cool concepts with them, and oh my god THE SIZE DIFFEREEENCEEEEE it murders me every time we read any of their djs.

鼻子 (Eruri) – their works have such a great dark and depressing atmosphere. They’re mostly story-oriented with great and very fitting visuals: dramatic shading, hatching, rough lines, all this stuff makes their djs feel very… unnerving. In a very good way, I love it when djs make me feel uneasy.

Honorable mentions: here are a bunch of great artists who post short comics and art that we really enjoy. It’s mostly comical and sfw, but occasionally there is nsfw stuff too.

Si_tano (Ereri) – this person draws djs too and have a lot of previews on their pixiv page, and I’d commit a rumbling to be able to pay them and read any of those, but they also post a lot of short funny comics about Eren and Levi. They also have a series of sketches with Erewan 

Migiri (Ereri AND Eruri!) – this person’s short comics art hilarious, I adore their portrayal of Levi and the fact that they ship both of our fav ships. A lof of their works have “two idiots are madly in love with Levi who is just chillin’ there” dynamic and it’s great. 

Zundamochi (Ereri) – we’re in love with this artist’s Eren LOL he’s so moody and clingy and angry, it’s so close to how we see Eren, it’s always a national holiday for us when they post something new. Such a joy. Levi is adorable too

Bubiomaru – they mostly post non-shippy art nowadays, but they have short comics with both Ereri and Eruri. Although their non-shippy art is hilarious too 

Koka-tin (Ereri, Eruri, etc) – they mostly post illustrations, but there are some short stories here and there (both sfw and nsfw). Levi-centric, and oh god if their Levi is good. They illustrate his nature and his sexiness perfectly. There are  a lot of unexpected ideas, stories and characters’ combinations, their mind amazes me. And the art itself is breathtaking good . 

シャケ (Ereri, Eruri, Zevi, etc…) - their Levi is round, soft, smol, tiny, kittenish, everything. And woah they ship him with Zeke!! Well, they ship him with a lot of people, but Zeke is one of them and I’m grateful for that. You most likely won’t like their stuff though, I’m pretty sure about that. You’ll see what I mean when you see their Levi lol 

Once again, there are a lot of people that I’m forgetting about or don’t remember well enough to describe their work, since it’s been forever since I’ve reread some of the older djs… But I think that’s enough for now lol

The inevitable hot takes

Pokemon Presents happened, so of course I gotta talk about it.

Intro Thing

The intro was… cute. It was largely a waste of time, but as a little celebration of the full franchise, I suppose I can’t complain. It’s kind of hilarious to me that fucking Hey You Pikachu got more time in the spotlight than Colosseum, XD, or Battle Revolution, despite being easily the worst spinoff game in the franchise. As did the Game Boy Colour Mobile Phone adaptor, and that didn’t even get released outside of Japan.

The fact that this video had buffering issues, which seemed to be a universal issue from what ive heard, is kind of a travesty. Why the fuck do we still use youtube premiere for anything?

Look this game looks fucking adorable but like. I’m not spending 80 entire dollarydoos on this. Assuming it’s largely the same as the original Snap gameplay-wise, it’s going to be an on rails photo game, and that doesn’t really cut it in 2021.

That acronym is the funniest thing about this whole announcement. Bondage, domination, submission, and Pokemon. Sounds like a solid Friday night.

The reaction to this has been pretty mixed. I love that Game Freak is actually letting someone else handle this, but I’m worried that Ilca is going to be kept on too tight a leash to make a game that is worth playing if you still have a copy of the originals. This ties in to my other concern- The thing with Diamond and Pearl remakes is that Diamond and Pearl actually kinda suck ass, but just about every issue I had with them was fixed in the third version, Platinum. But the last remakes we got, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, didn’t take nearly enough from third version Emerald, and that combined with the outsourcing leads me to be worried about this being too faithful an adaptation, without any of the improvements brought by later Pokemon design.

The artstyle doesn’t bother me that much, but I know it’s a hard sell for a lot of fans. The comparison to the Link’s Awakening remake is pretty apt, but this doesn’t look quite as good as that, which is kinda an issue. End of the day, though, like with every time people get disappointed by something they literally asked for, the same lyrics are running through my head. “Is this what you wanted? Is this what you had in mind? Because this is what youre getting!” (Thanks, Maynard.)

Oh god, please don’t fuck up the music. DPPt had some of the best music in the franchise, but Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee has the worst soundtrack in any of the games (FIGHT ME.) and this looks a lot like that game.

Man this is either gonna suck real hard or it’s going to be the best Pokemon game in years.

Game Freak moving away from the standard formula was frankly inevitable, and I think now is the right time for it- especially since they’ve been able to pair it with a more mainline release. Obviously the animations for the trailer are unfinished- I’d argue they were probably rushed to meet the Pokemon Day deadline- but they have minimum 11 months until the release date, so I’m not actually that worried.

People have been asking for an open world Pokemon game for the better part of a decade at least at this point. The onus is now on Game Freak to not fuck it up, though even if they do it’ll still probably sell millions. I’m hesitantly optimistic for this project, though I will admit that the snippet of Arceus’s theme (which, to be clear, is impossible to hear in game without cheating since they never actually released the Azure Flute event so they’ve never really acknowledged it) got my heart going.

Oh, that was…it? Aside from some mobile game stuff and a new raid event for SwSh (Gigantamax Pikachu again, cooooooooool….), there wasn’t basically anything else, and I was expecting significantly more. We still don’t know shit about whatever Pokemon Sleep is, or was, and considering it’s the 25th anniversary I would have expected some merch or something- though for some reason despite being announced on the same day the new Pokemon Shirts designs weren’t part of this announcement. Maybe I was a bit spoiled by the 50-minute Nintendo direct last week, but this felt extremely short.

Anyway, new Plamos when you cowards?
