everytime I hear someone call a character a Mary Sue or Gary Stu and try using that as a legitimate piece of criticism I want to eat broken glass
#chit chattering#I remember seeing someone make one of those wc name tier lists or whatever#and they gave MoonPaw a low score and said that her character “just screamed Mary sue. and mind you. I’m pretty sure that post was made lik#either the same day or the day after she was unveiled. Not after that elders quest preview.#So she arguably wasn’t even a character at that time. how the fuck can you even.#why do folks keep trying to use that as a legitimate piece critique of characters. when the origin of its existence was from#some lady airing out her frustrations with how some folks were writing characters in fanfictions.#It’s seemingly gone from meaning “too overpowered character” to just. “protagonist / character I don’t like”.#does any of this make sense
