I don’t know why but I feel like Ocean Likes Me is going to pull a Kissable Lips and stick us with a sad ending. Because we don’t know anything about Tommy - where he came from, why he was on the beach etc. I think they’re planning on pulling a fast one and if this happens I shall be Very Annoyed.
Tagging @absolutebl - am I just being paranoid?

Off to the races
Request: Yes or No
This is loosely based off an oc story. Also, since Tommy (Malachai's actor) is Venezuelan and speaks Spanish, does that mean Malachai can too? 👀
My old man is a bad man
But I can't deny the way he holds my hand
And he grabs me, he has me by my heart
He doesn't mind I have a Las Vegas past
He doesn't mind I have a L.A crass way about me
He loves me with every beat of his cocaine heart
(Y/N) watched as Malachai and some of his buddies beat up a kid. He glanced at Jaime, crossing his arms. When a hot stranger offered him a ride, he didn't expect to hookup with him and later find out he was a gang leader. (Y/N) looked at Malachai when he backed up and walked over, knuckles bloody.
"Come on, baby." He said casually, grabbing his hand and holding it as he went back to his car.
Swimming pool
Glimmering darling
White bikini off with my red nail polish
Watch me in the swimming pool
Bright blue ripples, you
Sitting sipping on your Black Cristal, oh yeah
(Y/N) laughed when Jaime splashed him with water. The good moments when Ghoulies acted like normal people. (Y/N) liked those moments. He looked over at Malachai who watched him intently while sipping on his drink.
"Aw, cuties." Jaime cooed, making (Y/N) splash her.
Light of my life, fire in my loins
Be a good baby, do what I want
Light of my life, fire in my loins
Gimme them gold coins
Gimme them coins
(Y/N) bit down on the lollypop, chewing when it cracked and broke. He looked up when some rolled up money was tossed on the table. Malachai motioned to it.
"They're yours." He said. (Y/N) cocked a brow.
"Why?" He asked, picking it up. Malachai shrugged.
"Because you're my boyfriend and I want to give you money." (Y/N) raised his brows. Boyfriend? That was a first. He smiled, leaning forward.
"Well thank you, boyfriend."
And I'm off to the races, cases
Of Bacardi chasers
Chasing me all over town
'Cause he knows I'm wasted,
Facing time again at Riker's Island
And I won't get out
(Y/N) huffed, feeling someone grab his arm and pulled him back. He turned around, almost tripping from how intoxicated he was. He saw Malachai's face and grinned.
"Baby!" He cooed, wrapped his arms around him. (Y/N) heard Malachai sigh.
"Come on, let's head home." (Y/N) nodded happily. He knew going out and partying without Malachai's knowledge annoyed Malachai but he never stayed mad or annoyed. (Y/N) really needed to shake off that habit.
Because I'm crazy, baby
I need you to come here and save me
I'm your little scarlet starlet
Singing in the garden
Kiss me on my open mouth
Ready for you
(Y/N) laughed, falling back onto the bed.
"I already have to deal with those Serpents, I don't need to drive around town because you snuck off." Malachai said, helping him undress.
"Why don't you just kill them? Blow their brains out!" (Y/N) cracked up as Malachai rolled his eyes.
"You're crazy.." Malachai mumbled, leaning down and kissing him. (Y/N) happily kissed him back.
My old man is, a tough man
But he got a soul as sweet as blood red jam
And he shows me, he knows me, every inch of my tar black soul
He doesn't mind I have a flat broke down life
In fact he says he thinks it's what he might like about me, admires me
The way I roll like a rolling stone
(Y/N) woke up to soft kisses trailed around his face and neck. He grunted softly, bringing a hand up to his pounding head. Malachai chuckled, nudging him. (Y/N) opened his eyes, grabbing the painkillers and water. He sat up, glancing down at Malachai when he nipped at (Y/N)'s hip. Once (Y/N) took the painkiller, he lied back down and cuddled against Malachai.
Likes to watch me in the glass room, bathroom
Chateau Marmont
Slipping on my red dress, putting on my make up
Glass film, perfume, cognac, lilac
Fumes, says it feels like heaven to him
(Y/N) cracked open one eye, looking at Malachai. He smiled, sliding down so the water went up to his nose. Malachai watched him affectionately.
"Hey, little merman." He greeted. (Y/N) sat up, chuckling. Malachai approached him, crouching down and kissing him. (Y/N) pulled back, noting a smell.
"Are you using my cologne?" He asked. Malachai grinned, nodding.
Light of his life, fire of his loins
Keep me forever, tell me you want me
Light of your life, fire of your loins
Tell me you want me, gimme them coins
"I love you.." Malachai mumbled, pressing a kiss to (Y/N)'s shoulder. (Y/N) smiled, turning his head and looked at him.
"Who doesn't?" (Y/N) grinned. Malachai rolled his eyes, nipping his shoulder. (Y/N) laughed softly, turning around and wrapping his arms around him. He leaned in, kissing him softly.
"I love you too, Mal." He tangled his fingers into Malachai's soft curls.
And I'm off to the races, cases
Of Bacardi chasers
Chasing me all over town
(Y/N) tilted his head back, drinking the beer in one go. He placed the bottle down and looked at Malachai.
"You're gonna get liver problems." Malachai mumbled as he counted his money. (Y/N) cocked a brow, glancing at Malachai's beer bottles.
"Your one to talk." He replied. Malachai put him on house arrest after going out without his knowledge again.
Cause he knows I'm wasted, facing
Time again at Riker's
Island and I won't get out
(Y/N) stood up, going around the table and hugging Malachai from behind.
"Can I-"
"No." Malachai cut him off. (Y/N) pouted, resting his head ontop of Malachai's.
"Why not?" Malachai sighed, grabbing his arm and kissing it.
"I want you home. Safe. With me." Malachai replied. (Y/N) kissed the back of his head and hummed.
"Sorry for making you worry so much, Mal." (Y/N) apologized quietly.
Because I'm crazy, baby
I need you to come here and save me
I'm your little scarlet starlet
Singing in the garden
Kiss me on my open mouth
Malachai tilted his head back, meeting (Y/N) in a sweet kiss. (Y/N) pulled back and bumped their noses together before grabbing another bottle and opening it.
"You've had enough." Malachai grabbed it from him.
"Go take a shower, I'll join you in a minute." Malachai said. (Y/N) huffed but nodded, walking away.
Now I'm off to the races, laces
Leather on my waist is
Tight and I am falling down
I can see your faces, shameless
Cipriani's basement
Love you, but I'm going down
(Y/N) watched Malachai's car pull up, arms crossed. Malachai got out of his car, approaching him.
"I expected-" Malachai was cut off by his own grunt, holding his jaw as he stumbled back. (Y/N) shook his hand, knuckles hurting a bit.
"You promised you wouldn't get in trouble with the law and I have to find out through Jaime that you got arrested!"
"It isn't the first time-"
"And it'll be the last or else we're over."
God I'm so crazy, baby
I'm sorry that I'm misbehaving
I'm your little harlot starlet
King of Coney Island
Raising hell all over town
Sorry 'bout it
"You're fucking joking, right?"
"You have no fucking idea how worried I was, Malachai. Don't you understand how difficult it can be when you're locked up and the Serpents take advantage of it?" (Y/N) asked. Malachai sighed, eyes hard.
"Go ahead and try me if you think I'm joking." (Y/N) turned around, entering their home. Malachai groaned loudly, following his boyfriend inside.
"You need to calm down-"
"You're so fucking lucky I didn't go to that damn jail and beat your stupid ass. You've been dealing drugs for how long? Some rookie mistake and your ass is off to jail, God, you're so lucky that Peggy is a good lawyer." (Y/N) sneered. Malachai approached him, hands up. He slowly wrapped his arms around him.
"I'm sorry, baby." Malachai said softly. (Y/N) began to realx.
My old man is a thief
And I'm gonna stay and pray with him 'til the end
But I trust in the decision of the Lord
To watch over us
Take him when He may, if He may
(Y/N) played with his necklace, glancing at the clock. Malachai knew the cops were gonna be keeping an eye on him yet he had gone out to check on the drug run. (Y/N) was usually the one to make stupid and crazy decisions but Malachai was stepping it up. He heard the front door open and stood up, leaving the kitchen. Malachai shrugged off his jacket. He tossed some money onto the coffee table.
"Where'd you get that?"
"Some of the boys robbed a gas station." Malachai replied, yawning softly. Seemed like he was coming down from a high.
"Okay... I'm going to bed." (Y/N) said, walking to their bedroom.
"Babe? What's wrong?"
I'm not afraid to say that I'd die without him
Who else is gonna put up with me this way?
I need you, I breathe you, I'd never leave you
They would rue the day I was alone without you
"I'm just tired.." (Y/N) replied, glancing at him. Malachai leaned against the doorway, playing with his bracelet.
"I love you, you know that, right?"
"Yeah." (Y/N) lied down, taking off his necklace and putting it on the nightstand. Malachai headed into the bathroom, taking a quick shower and hopping into bed with (Y/N). Despite being annoyed with Malachai, (Y/N) wrapped his arms around him.
You're lying with your gold chain on
Cigar hanging from your lips
I said, "Hon', you never looked so beautiful
As you do now, my man"
Malachai was always a pretty sight to wake up to. A blunt hanging from his lips as sunlight poured into the room. (Y/N) took a moment to admire his man. He lifted himself up, kissing Malachai's arm. (Y/N) smiled up at him. Malachai leaned down, kissing him.
"Morning, babe." He mumbled. (Y/N) hummed, flopping down onto the pillow.
"Morning, Mal."
And we're off to the races, places
Ready, set, the gate is down and now we're goin' in
To Las Vegas, chaos, Casino Oasis
Honey, it is time to spin
(Y/N) felt the wind slip through his fingers as Malachai drove. It seemed like getting shot with an arrow brought Malachai back down to earth. (Y/N) was, of course, worried when he heard that his boyfriend got an arrow to the shoulder but couldn't help bursting out into a fit of laughter learning it was a teenager who had done it.
"Still can believe you laughed at me while I was bleeding out." Malachai mumbled.
"Oh, please. Penny and the others bandaged and stitched you up." (Y/N) smiled, looking at him.
"What do you think, Mimic?" (Y/N) asked, looking at the Rottweiler puppy sitting in his lap. Mimic barked in response.
"Right? Your other daddy is so dramatic." (Y/N) cooed. Malachai rolled his eyes. Their road trip was gonna be filled with lots of fun.
Boy, you're so crazy, baby
I love you forever, not maybe
You are my one true love
You are my one true love
You are my one true love

Sixteen Candles: Part Three
Summary: It’s the day that Vivian has been looking forward to nearly her entire life: her sixteenth birthday. But between her sister’s wedding overshadowing her big day, and praying that her crush Billy Hargrove will finally notice her things aren’t going too well for her. If she can just survive the under the sea dance at her school and avoid the really weird and creepy Tommy H her night might be salvageable. Maybe.
Pairing: Billy Hargrove/OFC
Sarah, Kevin and Vivian’s parents had left for dinner about twenty minutes ago. Since Enzo’s was the nicest, or really the only nice restaurant in town, they were hoping it would impress Kevin’s snooty parents. It probably wouldn’t. Now Vivian’s grandparents were left in charge. Which meant they would be eating dry meatloaf for dinner and her grandma would remind them over and over of the dangers of underage drinking and premarital sex. Vivian almost put her fork through her eye.
She hadn’t gotten a dress for the dance. She had been holding out until the last minute hoping that her mother would decide against forcing her to go. Instead Sarah lent her a dress that she didn’t want anymore because it was “totally out of style” and wouldn’t be caught dead in. Vivian didn’t really get why. It was a cute dress. It was a deep red, velvet dress with a Bardot neckline that stopped just above her knees. It was a little bit ill fitting. Sarah was practically waifish and Vivian had wider hips and a bit more of a fuller figure like their mother. The dress ended up showing off that “nice little figure” her grandma had told her she had a little bit too much for her liking. But if she threw her leather jacket over it it wasn’t so bad.
Her hair had won the battle of Vivian trying to tame it. She’d cut her curly red hair about a month ago to her shoulders, hoping that it would make it easier to manage. It didn’t. She guessed it made her look cool. Casual. Like she didn’t really care that much. Plus, after Carol started pounding on the bathroom door and threatening her, she didn’t really have much of a choice but to give up.
Now it was time to wait for Tommy to show up to drive them to the dance. Carol was back in her bedroom getting dressed and singing loudly and very off key along with Madonna to Burning Up. Vivian was in Sarah’s room, standing in front of the full length mirror hanging on the back of her door. She didn’t feel like she was sixteen. She didn’t look any different than when she had been fifteen. But had she ever felt different after her birthday? Had she always been too wrapped up in all the cake and presents to notice?
She let out a soft huff and turned to the side. She felt ridiculous in Sarah’s dress. Like she was trying too hard almost. There was a brief moment when Vivian wondered if Billy would like it. Maybe that was the change. Worrying so much about what a boy thought of her. Or catching herself day dreaming way too often about all the things she wanted to do with Billy that always made her cheeks grow all hot. And then there was being faced with the fact that absolutely none of those things would happen in a million years. Vivian let out a groan. Growing up sucked.
“Girls! Thomas is here!” Vivian rolled her eyes at the sound of her grandma’s voice. No one called Tommy H Thomas. It made him sound way too mature when really he had the mentality of a thirteen year old. Carol poked her head out of her room and yelled down that she would be out in a minute. Which in Carol speak meant more like ten. Vivian reluctantly made her way downstairs to the living room where Tommy was waiting by the front door. He gave her a slow once over and grinned at her. Vivian suddenly felt like little red riding hood trapped in a room with the big bad wolf.
“Lookin’ good, Viv. That a new dress?” Vivian plopped down onto the couch and instinctively turned her body away from Tommy. She hated having to be alone with him.
“Uh, not really. It’s actually Sarah’s.” she tugged at the end of her dress in an attempt to cover up a bit more of her legs. Tommy didn’t hide the fact that he was looking at them. Vivian had never understood what Carol saw in him. They’d somehow been together since Vivian was in elementary school. It made the fact that Tommy almost relentlessly hit on Vivian any time Carol wasn’t around that much creepier. Of all the boys in Hawkins to be interested in her, why did it have to be Tommy H?
Tommy moved closer to her and perched on the arm of the couch. “Hey, how come you don’t have a date to the dance?” usually Vivian would have some sort of biting remark. Sarah was always telling her that she was much too comfortable being sarcastic. But with Tommy she kept the comments she wanted to say to herself and kept things as short as possible. He wasn’t entirely bright enough to understand sarcasm. Or much of anything. Usually he would just seem to think she was flirting back and it would be impossible to escape the conversation.
Plus, she didn’t really want to open the can of worms that was wondering why no one had asked her to the dance. “...I just didn’t want to go with anyone, I guess.” she finally said with a shrug.
“Oh...well, that’s okay. You wanna be my date? I’m sure I can juggle you and Carol.” that grin was back. Vivian didn’t stop herself from rolling her eyes.
“How about you ask Carol how she’d feel about that arrangement?” Vivian asked, fluttering her eyelashes with a sweet smile. Tommy’s grin fell. He opened his mouth to say something else, but was cut off by Vivian’s grandmother walking in. Tommy nearly jumped up from the arm of the couch.
“Would you like something to drink, Thomas? Are you hungry? I made meatloaf. The girls weren’t really hungry so there’s plenty left over.” they were plenty hungry. The meatloaf was just awful. Vivian almost hoped Tommy would accept her offer.
Tommy only smiled what Vivian assumed he thought was a charming smile. “Oh, no thank you ma’am. My mom made a pretty big dinner so I don’t really have room for meatloaf.” he patted his stomach.
“Consider yourself lucky. A dog wouldn’t even eat that meatloaf.” it was Carol. She came practically stomping down the stairs in her strapless, light pink chiffon dress that she had begged and pleaded with their dad to buy her for the dance. Vivian usually felt self conscious next to her older sister, but she felt even more so now. Carol looked like she had just stepped out of an issue of Cosmo.
Their grandmother frowned over at Carol. “Now, young lad-”
Carol rolled her eyes and tossed her hair over her shoulder. “We gotta run, grandma. Don’t wait up. Mom says curfew’s at one,” that definitely wasn’t true. The girls had a firm eleven o’clock curfew on weekends. But Vivian kept her mouth shut. Carol grabbed Tommy by the arm and pulled him towards the front door, Vivian close behind. Their grandma followed with a reminder of the lovely talk they’d had at dinner. The three teens practically bolted for Tommy’s car.
“God, she never shuts up!” Carol groaned. “No sex before marriage!” she said in a crude, mocking voice. “Jesus doesn’t like tramps! Please.”
“Don’t forget that story about her friend Judy and how her grandson died from drinking a beer at a highschool party.” Vivian laughed as she slid into the backseat. Carol threw her head back and let out a cackle like laugh.
“That’s right! He’s not even dead! He got shit faced on tequila shots and got a dui and his dad sent him to boot camp!” if it was one thing Vivian could bond with her sister over, it was what an absolute fruit loop their grandmother was.
Tommy was grinning again. “You know, she’s a little too late with that no sex before marriage thing, Car.” Vivian’s nose scrunched up in disgust. So not what she wanted to hear. Ever.
Carol let out a loud snort and shoved Tommy’s shoulder. “Shut up, ass.” and just like that, the sisterly bonding was over. For the rest of the ride to school Vivian ceased to exist to Carol and Tommy. Which was pretty alright with her. Especially when it came to Tommy.
The Hawkins High gym had been transformed into an under the sea fantasy. Well, as much of a fantasy as the dance committee had been able to pull off. Blue lights hung high above the students dancing and mingling, giving them all an odd and almost otherworldly pallor. Silver streamers hung from the doorways, food tables and sporadically from the gym’s ceiling mimic what Vivian assumed to be seaweed. In one corner there were large cut outs of crudely drawn sea creatures along with a mermaid and merman as a photo op for the students and their dates.
Carol quickly dragged Tommy over to have their photo taken. “Oh, see ya later, sis! Have fun!” Vivian muttered to herself as she made her way over to the bleachers where Robin was sitting and looking bored. “You have no idea how happy I am to see you.” she said with a heavy sigh as she sat next to her best friend.
“Likewise,” Robin said with a grin. “I dig the dress. It’s gonna be hard for Billy to ignore you in that.”
Vivian rolled her eyes and waved a hand at Robin. “This so isn’t for him. I didn’t have anything to wear so I had to borrow it from Sarah. Tommy hit on me while we were waiting for Carol to finish getting ready,” she pulled a face. Robin and Vivian both looked over to where Tommy and Carol were posing in front of the photographer for their dance photo. They both groaned. Vivian scanned the room quickly. “...Have you seen Billy?” she asked casually.
Robin smiled and shook her head. “Not yet. I’m imagining Cheryl’s gonna turn up fashionably late. You want some punch or something?” Vivian only shrugged. Robin patted her knee and stood up. “Be right back.” Vivian watched Robin head over to the snack table and let out a sigh. This was probably gonna be a long night. And adding the fact that she was going to wait around for Billy like a little puppy definitely wasn’t going to help.
“There she is!” Vivian groaned. Her night just kept getting worse. Tommy had spotted her. He was dancing along to the music and headed her way. Carol wasn’t anywhere in sight. “Been lookin’ for ya, Viv!” he took her by the hands and pulled her to her feet. Vivian watched in near horror as Tommy continued to dance in front of her.
“Uh, Tommy? Where’s Carol?”
He didn’t stop dancing. “She went to the bathroom with Cheryl. Come on, girl! Don’t leave me hangin’! I love this song!” he took Vivian’s hands in his again and tried to get her to dance with him. Vivian harshly pulled away from him. She didn’t really know who she was more embarrassed for. Tommy and his awful dancing, herself for having to be seen with him, or Carol for thinking Tommy wasn’t an absolute creep.
“You know, I’m not really much of a dancer. Maybe you should just go find Billy or something,” she took a step back from Tommy hoping it would keep him from grabbing her again. “Have you seen him anywhere?”
Tommy was still dancing. “I think he’s outside having a smoke,” Vivian thought that she hid her disappointment, but apparently not as well as she thought. Tommy grinned at her. “You sweet on Hargrove, Viv?”
Vivian felt her cheeks burn. “Of course not. I didn’t even...I gotta go find Robin.” she rushed around Tommy and disappeared into the sea of dancing teenagers.
A few moments later Billy waltzed back into the gym. He shoved the sleeves of the black blazer he was wearing up his arms and gave an unimpressed look around the gym. Susan had given him the blazer right before he left to pick up Cheryl. It was his dad’s. “It’s a dance, Billy! You have to look your best for your date!” she had said, running into her bedroom to fetch the coat.
Cheryl hadn’t really cared about what he was wearing. She spent the entire drive fixing her makeup and bitching about how her parents refused to buy her the dress she had wanted because she had failed two classes that past semester. As soon as they arrived at the dance Cheryl and made a beeline for Carol and the two had run off the the bathroom. Billy headed back outside for a smoke and to sneak a few swigs from the flask he’d stashed on the inner pocket of his blazer.
When he’d made his way back inside Tommy was dancing over by the bleachers. Alone. Billy rolled his eyes and walked over to him. “They’re still not back yet?” he asked, scanning the crowd for Cheryl and Carol.
“Nah, man. I bet they’ll be gone for awhile,” Tommy finally stopped dancing and looked at his friend with a mischievous grin. “You’ll never guess who was asking about you, dude.”
Billy let out a heavy sigh and shoved his hands into his pockets, his fingers playing mindlessly with his lighter. “I give up.” he said with a bored tone.
Tommy threw an arm around Billy’s shoulders and turned him towards the snack table. Vivian was standing by the punch bowl with Robin. She looked good. Amazing, actually. But with the way she kept pulling at the bottom of her dress and shifting uncomfortably showed that she wasn’t entirely comfortable with all the new attention she was getting. Billy watched on with an amused look.
“You think you can maybe talk to her? Get me an in?” Billy frowned and looked over at Tommy.
“...The hell are you talking about? Aren’t you with Carol?”
Tommy looked around to make sure that no one was listening. He grinned wickedly. “I don’t see her around, do you?”
Billy rolled his eyes. “Christ, Tommy. You’re even dumber than I thought.”
Tommy frowned. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“You can’t try to fuck your girl’s sister. They tell each other about that kinda shit. You need to get some tact, man,” not to mention he was fairly certain that he would see pigs flying before Vivian ever agreed to willingly sit in a room alone with Tommy. There was a moment when Vivian turned and met eyes with Billy from across the gym. Her lips twitched. Like she wasn’t sure whether to smile at him or not. The corner of Billy’s mouth turned upwards in a smirk, and Vivian’s cheeks turned a deep pink before she turned back to Robin. “...I’ll see you later, Tommy.” he patted his friend on the shoulder and started off towards Vivian.
“There you are!” Billy stifled the groan he wanted to let out at the sound of Cheryl’s voice. He stopped in his tracks, turning to face his date with a thin smile. “I was worried someone might’ve stolen you away,” she said with an overly sweet smile. Cheryl straightened out the front of Billy’s blazer before she placed her hands on his chest. “Carol told me that Tommy’s having a party at his place after and I said we would go.”
Billy could think of about 900 completely awful things that he would rather do than go to a party with his friends. “I’m not really in a partying mood. I gotta get to the pool early tomorrow.” he lied.
If looks could kill, Billy would be dead. Cheryl’s hot pink nails dig ever so slightly into his chest as she glared up at him. “Well, I already told Carol that we would go. And it’ll look bad if I go by myself. So you’re going to come with me, and you’re going to have a good time.” she said through her teeth.
A mistake that Billy had made early on with Cheryl was deciding not to argue with her. It gave her the sense that he was a pushover that would do whatever she wanted. That she had power in the relationship. Usually it was just easier to do what Cheryl said. No matter how much he hated it. It was never worth all the dirty looks and all of her bitching. “...Whatever, Cheryl. We’ll stop by for a few minutes. I’m gonna go have another smoke.”
He didn’t care that he was ditching her. He didn’t care about the way she was calling after him in that fake, sweet voice that she used in front of other people. He wanted to get away from her. Away from this stupid under the sea dance.
He shoved the gym door opened and collided hard with someone on the other side. “Christ, watch where you’re goi- oh, Billy!” it was Vivian. The door shut loudly behind him, and the two were left out in the quiet hallway.
“Sorry…” he muttered, fidgeting with the lighter in his pocket. Vivian waved him off and adjusted her dress. He couldn’t help but give her another once over. “I like the dress.”
Vivian’s hands went still as she looked up at him. She blinked a few times. “...What?”
Billy chuckled and motioned to her outfit. “The dress. It looks good on you. You get it for your birthday?”
He expected her to blush again. To freeze up like she usually did when he complimented her. Instead she rolled her eyes dramatically and scoffed. “No. I didn’t get shit for my birthday. My family forgot all about it.” there was a shocked look on her face almost like she had said something she shouldn’t have.
Billy raised an eyebrow. “They forgot? How’s that possible?”
“My sister’s stupid wedding. I keep telling myself that I’m over it, but every time I bring it up I get pissed off all over again,” she shook her head. “It’s not really a big deal. Anyways, having fun with Cheryl?” there was a bit of bite in her voice that made Billy smirk down at her.
“Tons,” he said cooly. “She told me Tommy’s having a party at his place after the dance. You should come. Bring Robin. We’ll call it your birthday party.” that shy look of hers was back. Billy couldn’t help but smile.
“I don’t know…” she scrunched up her nose. “I’ve kinda had my fill of Tommy for one night. Robin and I were gonna head to the movies and see Red Dawn,” Billy honestly wished he could join them. “Maybe next time.” she offered. He knew that was a lie.
Billy smiled slowly at her and nodded. “Yeah, maybe next time. Well, I guess I’ll see you around Birthday Girl.” Vivian tucked a piece of hair behind her ear as her cheeks turned pink again. Her lips twitched again, like she was fighting to keep her cool. She mumbled a “bye” before rushing back into the gym. He knew that Vivian thought he couldn’t see her now. He placed a cigarette between his lips as he watched her hurry across the dance floor towards Robin.
She was talking to her friend animatedly and pointing back to the gym doors. Robin looked on with an amused smile at her friends ranting. Billy let out a short laugh and lit his cigarette. He didn’t really know why he was so interested in Vivian. Aside from her obvious good looks, Vivian was a good girl. Billy had never really liked good girls. Maybe Cheryl had made him realize it was time to try something new.
He decided once he was sure that she was home from the movies that he would call her and ask her out. What could go wrong?

Wave Goodbye Ch 5
Rating: M
Pairing: Vince/Nikki and Mick/Tommy
Summary: After falling into a sea cavern, Tommy and Nikki get changed forever
Warnings: Major...Character... Undeath? !!!Mentions of suicide attempts!!!
Authors Notes: It’s over
“I saw ya try and kill yourself... naughty.” That was the most irritating voice Vince had ever heard. As he opened his eyes, a green man with seaweed for hair and large facial features leered over him. He tried to move away but his whole body ached. “You were dying but I lifted you out of them there waters.”
“N-no I didn’t” Vince didn’t even believe himself, he was almost ashamed to admit it though. “Who are you?” He looked around panicked by the darkness and damp cold surrounding him.
“I’m Old Gregg.” He seemed to sing.
“You fucker! You’ve got Nikki!” Vince swung for the man fish creature but could barely lift his arm.
“You can have him back. I was hoping Tommy would win the game, he’s angry and mean and makes the cave look bad.”
“Game?! This was a game to you? I had to be almost dead to get here! How is that a game?” Vinces anger bubbled in every nerve.
“I’m Old Gregg. Crow man is in the room downstairs. You have to go get him though.” Gregg pranced away, into the shadows.
As he watched the freak leave, Vince spotted Tommy laying on the floor. He shuffled over to him and checked his pulse, he was alive... barely. Once he’d found Nikki, they’d get him out. He just had to find these stairs.
*******************
Tommy woke up with a sharp stinging in his chest, like his lungs had just been shaved from the inside. He would’ve screamed but no noise came out. He looked around took a moment to realise where he was and his heart sank when he saw the rocks and water. Had there been a time limit on getting them back? Had he failed? Were they going to be stuck here forever? Tommy began to cry... Wait, ghosts can’t cry. Tommy couldn’t see his body on the floor, he couldn’t see anyone.
“Nikki? G-Gregg?” He called out, his throat felt dry and it hurt to talk. He hadn’t heard his voice in days, there hadn’t been a point in talking when no one could hear him. There were footsteps over by the ledge and Tommy stumbled across the wet ground and looked over the edge. Vince was limping his way down a set of stone stairs.
“Vince...” How had he gotten here?
“I thought you were still dead. Gregg says Nikki is down here.” Vince was covered in blood and looked worse than his own dead body had after the cliff.
“Do you trust him?”
“I don’t have a choice.” Vince looked guilty. “You coming?” Tommy nodded and chased after him.
“Why didn’t Gregg just let him go like me?” Tommy asked. Vince didn’t reply, just shrugged. It probably hurt to talk, Tommy decided so they walked in silence. More than once, Vince almost fell in pain making the blood stains on his shirt paint themselves a fresh shade of red.
They reached a door and could hear angry mumbling from inside. Tommy helped Vince push open the heavy driftwood door. Nikki was sitting on a smooth stone and didn’t move for near enough a whole minute. The silence was deafening.
“Can we go please... Vince smells really bad.” Tommy had to speak or he’d choke on the atmosphere.
“Are you...?” Nikki paused, “Are you real?”
“I did not just go through all of that for you to stay here, Sixx. Come on!” Vince walked over to him, trying to pull him up, only to practically collapse in his lap. Nikki held him tight, tears falling onto the blondes head as he nuzzled into the hair.
“Vince... Where’s Mick?” Tommy asked quietly.
“He had more sense, he’ll be at home still.”
“More sense?” Nikki asked, pulling away and helping Vince stand. “We need to get you to a hospital.”
As they carried Vince out of the room, Nikki and Tommy stopped in their tracks when the wet figure loomed at the top of the stairs. Gregg shifted from side to side, almost nervously.
“I didn’t wanna get the angry crow man by myself.” Gregg said quietly.
“Wait, you’re scared of Nikki?” Tommy laughed.
“He fucking should be, I was stuck in that room all week. I almost went insane. If he comes near me, I’ll... I don’t know but he won’t like it.” Nikki looked at Vince. “Did you do this to him?”
Gregg spluttered, “N- no! Old Gregg ain’t never touched that one. He did that himself. I was only playing with you and the bouncy one.” Vince nodded and touched Nikki’s shoulder gently.
Gregg watched them carry Vince past him. Nikki cursed under his breath as he shuffled around the cave looking for an exit of some kind. As frustration grew, Nikki shot a glare at Gregg. “What was the point of any of this? Why couldn’t you just bring us back in the first place? What the fuck did they have to do to get me back?” He yelled.
A smile flourished across Gregg’s face, “You gotta jump in my waters to get out.”
Nikki lurched to attack the merman, stopping when Vince groaned in pain. He held Vince close, kissing him softly before jumping them both into the water, disappearing instantly.
Tommy looked over at Gregg. “Thanks man, I know we would’ve just died if you hadn’t have been here. Maybe next time, be a bit more chill about it though, yeah?”
“Old Gregg likes having people around. Will ya come visit?”
“Is there an easier way in?”
“There’s the front door.” Gregg pointed at the far wall.
“...The what?” Tommy looked at the large boulder in the wall. “I- I thought that was part of the wall... I... Gregg, where does that lead?”
“A manhole cover at the back of the Whiskey.” He said blandly before pushing Tommy in the water.
*********
When he surfaced, Nikki and Vince were looking for him. He swam to the rocks and pulled himself up. Nikki let Vince rest on the ground while he pulled Tommy into a hug. He wanted to know what the hell had happened while he was in that cell but he really just wanted to enjoy being alive again. No one spoke but everyone knew, they all felt the same. Vince, although being the only one who never lost his pulse, was the one most relieved to feel alive again.
************
The three soaked men had never struggled to hitch a ride so much in their lives, they ended up walking most of the way to the hospital. Nikki took Vince in while Tommy phoned Mick from outside. Vince was classed as a priority patient and was seen immediately by the surgeons.
There was a still silence between them as Nikki held Vince’s hand. Vince was asleep but Nikki couldn’t bring himself to speak yet, he was really struggling to understand what had just happened. He’d just spent a week, not only dead, but trapped alone with himself. The cell wasn’t nearly as bad as his mind had been. All he wanted was to see Vince again and when he had, he was in this state. He couldn’t let himself think about what had happened to him. What did Gregg mean it was his own fault?
He was interrupted by Mick and Tommy walking in. Mick quickly grabbed Nikki and hugged him close. “You stupid motherfucker! Don’t you ever pull that shit again.”
Nikki looked at Tommy, “Hey, I got the lecture too, man.” Tommy smiled. “How’s he doing?” He nodded at Vince.
“He’ll be ok but he needs rest. What happened to him?”
“I don’t know. He didn’t take you dying well at all.” Mick spoke quietly. “He was so different. I woke up and he was gone, the next thing I knew, Tommy was calling.”
Vince began to stir and they all sat around him. “Hey, dude.” Tommy spoke first. Turning to face him made Vince squint in pain and Nikki stroked his forehead.
“Missed you.” Nikki whispered.
“Missed you too... I love you.”
They hadn’t said that to each other yet and for a second, Nikki thought he was still dead. How could Vince go through all of that and still even wanna be with him never mind love him?
He didn’t realise how the silence was until Mick coughed. “I love you too.” He grinned and kissed Vince carefully, not disturbing the new stitches.
“Mick, I-”
“Yeah I know drummer.” Mick cut Tommy off. “I love you too, dumbass.”
“That’s nice but I was gonna say I was gonna get lunch and give them space, if you wanted to come.” Tommy smiled. None of them had seen Mick blush before that but they all decided it was adorable.
As Mick and Tommy left, Vince pulled Nikki’s hand to his face, nuzzling into it carefully. Nikki watched him for a few minutes before the curiosity was too much for him. “What happened to you? Why did Gregg say it was your fault? ...Why did the doctors find heroin in your system?” It all came out at once and he hadn’t meant for the last one to be out loud.
Vince went quiet, trying to come up with something less pathetic than the truth but there was nothing. “I couldn’t do it.” The tears stung more now with the cuts and bruises around his face. “I couldn’t find the cave, I couldn’t get you back... I wanted to give it all up. I’m sorry.”
“Give what up? What was this game he was on about? What did you do?”
“Gregg let Tommy come back as a ghost. He couldn’t leave the flat and that meant me and Mick had to find you, neither of you would come back properly unless we found the cave. I couldn’t and just wanted to give up. Everything hurt and nothing felt real. I found one of your dealers, then a fight, then I thought I was dying so-”
“You were dying! The doctors said you wouldn’t have made it if you’d left it any longer. You were bleeding internally.” Nikki squeezed his hand a little. “I’m glad you got me back but... if anything ever happens to me, I don’t want you to get yourself killed. I want you to be happy in the end.”
“It was worth it. If I hadn’t have found you...” He shook his head. “I didn’t wanna come back without you.”
Nikki had never had anyone feel that way about him before and didn’t know how to respond. Scooting the chair closer and holding Vince seemed to be good enough as the blonde fell asleep in his arms.

Devil's Heart by William W. Johnstone 1983 Zebra Books
"I'm gonna shove this meat up where I think your God lives."
It's twenty-twoish years after the end of part one. Jane Ann has given birth to Sam Jr., and Nydia (now Roma) gave birth to twins, Sam and Nydia. The two Sam's are college roommates, and Sam Jr. has been invited to Black's family resort in Canada, where he meets his sexy half-sister and her sexy mom, who constantly wonders if Jr. is equipped like Sr.
Back in Whitfield, Sam's stepfather Tony King has joined the forces of darkness, along with 850 of a population of 1050. Of those, aside from weak-sauce Christians who don't count, the only really faithful are Jane Ann, Miles and Doris, and Wade and Anita.
Sam Sr. communicates with his family though cheesy parlor tricks, like glowing bibles and crosses. He sends a radio message to Sam Jr. to go to the airport, where he mystically manifests a long letter, telling Jr. to kill all the Satanist at Falcon house and destroy the magic tablet I'm not sure what it does, and that Nydia is his half-sister. Sam and Nydia load up on holy water and head back to the Falcon House.
Sam and Nydia can now block the psychic powers of Falcon and Roma, and can communicate with each other telepathically, probably because of the fact that they're brother and sister, and the grace of God's will. So they start banging.
More college kids are invited to Falcon House. Most are coven members, but a few are innocents who will be either recruited or victimized. Being a brave Christian soldier, Sam risks his life to save those he can. JK - like his Dad, he blows off the weak as a lost cause.
Meanwhile, Sam Sr. hangs out with his old friends in the form of a mist while Miles creates an eight foot high golem.
Sam Jr. reveals that he was a secret government assassin and is able to kill without feeling or remorse. Nydia asks him what it means to be a Christian. Sam Jr. has no idea, and then talks about how he's going to kill her family. Time for her baptism! God feeds the words to Sam Jr. as he baptizes his half-sister who he's sleeping with. Sam Jr. just starts knowing things. Meanwhile, Black is seducing one of the college virgins with his "angry red glans."
Sam Jr. and Nydia check out a shrine of rocks around a Beast cave. They have a vision of Sam Sr. being raped by Roma/Nydia mom, and Sam Sr. throws his gun through a timewarp to his son.
Back in Whitfield, the spirit mist of Sam Sr. tells his wife that she will be raped to death and that God will do nothing to stop it. Might have been nice to tell her this when she could still get out of town.
The coven needs a virgin for a ceremony. They ran out of women, so Black rapes one of the male guests, which pisses off Satan, who's a total 'phobe, it turns out. He materializes, calls them all losers, and decides to bring in reinforcements.
In Whitfield, the couple hundred Christians who somehow weren't Christian enough are being slaughtered while astronomers are seeing the face of God in the stars.
More cultist show up at Falcon House, with extra young victims in tow. Time to lay the cards on table: they won't harm him for the next five days while they try to turn them to the dark side. The archangel Michael flies through space and destroys an altar with a sword.
Sam Sr. floats around being annoying and cryptic.
"Is there pizza in heaven, Sam?" "In a manner of speaking. But the toppings are not like those known to mortals." "Do they have pepperoni?" "In a sense, they do. And they do not. I've...said too much." "Too much about what?" "Just telling you that I've said too much is...saying too much."
Sam Jr. hangs around Falcon House listening to children being raped and claiming there's nothing he can do. It's not like he's some highly trained government assassin or something. Nydia wants to have sex again, so Sam Jr. slaps her around. He's assaulted by erotic visions of her mons veneris, which is not a spaceport in Star Wars, it turns out. He gets ready to "enter the wetness of woman ready" when they come to their senses and read the Bible until the horny goes away.
Sunday comes around, and the coven cannot make a move towards Sam Jr. or Nydia. Not that they've done anything anyway. A perfect time for Sam to slaughter the lot, only he "knows" that it isn't the proper time yet.
In Whitfield, the Coven make a final assault on the two couples and their golem before giving up. The coven is trapped in town in an invisible force field and they know God has defeated them. In other words, no action here for a few days either.
At Falcon House, where nobody can harm Sam Jr. and Nydia, Sam is knocked out and Nydia killed. He comes to her funeral and the Coven has had a change of heart. Roma asks Sam to baptized them all, even though it would mean certain death. This is, of course, a ruse. Roma's perfume intoxicates him and she rapes him, while Falcon rapes Nydia's corpse.
Nydia comes back to life and the voice of God demands that the siblings quickly have sex - "May your seed be strong." He showers, she douches, and he hopes his sperm is stronger than Falcon's to knock her up first. Roma knows she is pregnant, and will die giving birth to an immortal demon, a demon that can only be killed by a chosen one, who would have to be conceived by the same father during the same time period, and yes, Johnstone's setting up the next sequel.
Falcon and Roma try to get permission from Satan to break the rules and kill Sam, while Sam and Nydia marry themselves in the woods. The voice of God appears and tells Sam he shouldn't fight yet and - look, I'm no going to keep track of all this. It's all just an obnoxious plot contrivance to explain away why Johnstone doesn't want to write more than a couple action sequences at most.
Some action heroes stay alive despite facing overwhelming odds by depending on their skills and cunning. Sam Jr. stays alive because all the villains want him to be alive. Satan has a double agent in his own camp who has been tasked with keeping Balon and his newly conceived child alive. We don't know who she is, but on a completely unrelated note, young college student Linda has come to Sam Jr. and Nydia for protection. The pentagram on her chest is totally a birthmark, no reason to be suspicious.
Roma is already having pains from her demon pregnancy, while the Falcon and Sam's sperm are still fighting it out in Nydia's womb. Her egg might not be fertilized until after the baby is born, which says a lot for the state of sex education.
After a good night sleep in the mansion filled with satanists that just raped and beat them, Sam, Nydia, and Linda need to be prepared for an attack. In a few hours, plenty of time to talk things out first. They head to the forest with a good viewing platform of the altar.
At midnight the Coven have a ceremony, gang-raping a preteen and drinking her blood. A merman/goat shows up. Bats poop over them. Imps run around. A second girl is sacrificed, then Sam figures maybe he could actually use his Tommy gun on the unarmed coven who won't fight back, but no. He just knows it's not time yet.
More creatures appear in the sky. Johnstone pulls a Lovecraft and doesn't describe them lest we all go mad. A third child victim, Janet, manages to sneak away and join up with our trio. Sam finally gets to shoot something, a griffon, and Janet is attacked by rats. They run until they reach a point that they are protected, and the voice tells Sam the monsters won't be able to kill him if he believes in God.
Guess Sam knows the time is right and guns down ambushing cultists, takes their rifles, and starts sniping. He sets up traps in the woods while the archangel Michael slays all the mythological creatures.
In Whitfield, Jane Ann is taken and gang-raped by the whole town, just like God wants her to. Sam Jr. is told by the voice that Satan has the tablet, the tablet that we don't know what it does and if Satan can just grab it whenever he wants why does he send archaeologists digging for it. Sam has 24 hours to finish the rest of his mission, but he has to be away from Falcon House in 22 hours, so really 22 hours. Sam takes a nap while his mom gets raped for a few more pages.
Jane Ann converts some of the Coven back as she hangs on a cross. They beg God's forgiveness and are crucified and skinned alive by the rest of the coven. At Falcon House, Sam Jr. finally cuts loose, massacring the coven with holy water and his Tommy gun. Falcon shoots him as Sam throws holy water in his face.
Nydia drags Sam out of the burning house, having dispatched Linda offpage. In Whitfield, Sam Sr.'s friends transform into spirits and go to heaven with Jane Ann. A fireball destroys the town while Sam Jr. recovers from his wounds.
Epilogue:
Roma dies giving birth to a demon baby. Nydia has her own child, and Janet offers to help raise him, but oh, no! She has vampire teeth.
Duh duh duuhhhh.
Highlights: Definitely the porniest of the series, and also the most overtly religious, often at the same time. If you read only one Devil book, this is the one. It's all downhill from here.
Lowlights: More page length devoted to why characters can't explain the things they aren't explaining than there is to shooting down mythological creatures with a Tommy gun.
We'll take a look at the third Devil book another time. I'm not allowed to say when, but you will receive a sign, and know when the time is right. I've...said too much.

Broadway Pop!
I have fallen in love with Funko Pops figures -- they're so odd but so wonderful. In recent months, Funko has released several Little Shop of Horrors figures, as well as two versions of both Danny and Sandy in Grease, and big collections of figures from Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. But wait, there's more! I was fortunate enough to happen upon Amanda Tang's Broadway Pop store on Etsy, and it was like I had died and gone to musical theatre memorabilia heaven. She has custom Funko Pops for Hamilton, Newsies, Wicked, Book of Mormon, Phantom of the Opera... But it gets even better. You can commission special orders from her! Would anyone really think I could have that information and not act on it? I couldn't help myself. So I asked Amanda to create a trio of figures for me, Billy Crocker, Reno Sweeney, and Moonface Martin, in the original 1934 Anything Goes. See the photo above to see how cool they turned out! Amanda is totally open to suggestions... About the same time, I discovered the very cool work of Brian Reedy, brother to New Line's resident graphic artists, Matt Reedy, who's been designing all the New Line posters since 2006. That family clearly has good artsy genes. Brian's already made a Hamilton woodcut, and an Audrey II linocut, both incredibly cool and both for sale in Brian's Etsy store. Having found both these artists, I've been thinking about all the ways my artist friends could make money creating musical theatre related merchandise. There's already a ton of it on Etsy, though most of that is uninspired. And there's a large, easy-to-target fan base eager for cool stuff like that. That fan base probably skews younger (which is good for the art form!), but it also includes people my age. I started thinking of all the musical theatre characters that would make excellent Funko Pops or linocuts. To work, the character needs a pretty distinctive, iconic look, that translates clearly into these different, necessarily simpler forms. And that made me think about what characters in musical theatre have a look that transcends the original actor who played the role -- or in some cases, characters whose look was set forever by the original actor.
For instance, even with the simple, almost expressionless faces of the Pops, a red sequined dress and red feathered headdress are unmistakably Dolly Levi, at that one specific moment, coming down the stairs of the Harmonia Gardens during the intro to the title song. The same is true of Cassie's red rehearsal clothes, Mame's gold jumpsuit and short haircut, Mrs. Lovett's bizarre side curls... Once I started thinking about this, I couldn't stop. Imagine Pops and/or linocuts, and/or whatever other things we can dream up, depicting... Dolly Levi (in the red dress!) In a set of three! Carol Channing, Pearl Bailey, and Streisand (in gold)! Maybe also Bette? Lola from Kinky Boots Evan Hanson from Dear Evan Hansen Zaza (and Albin?) from La Cage aux Folles
Ti Moune from Once on This Island
Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof
Don Quixote from Man of La Mancha
Stew from Passing Strange Mame Dennis from Mame (in the gold jumpsuit!)
Cassie from A Chorus Line Princess Winifred from Once Upon a Mattress Charity Hope Valentine from Sweet Charity Pres. Jackson from Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson Ethel Merman, as a career-spanning set Including Reno in Anything Goes, Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, and Rose in Gypsy Chita Rivera, as a career-spanning set Including Anita in West Side Story, Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie, Velma in Chicago, and the Spider Women in Kiss of the Spider Woman Porgy and Bess from Porgy and Bess Jeremy, Michael, and the Squip from Be More Chill Tracy and Edna Turnblad from Hairsprayy Mother and Coalhouse Walker Jr. from Ragtime Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins from My Fair Lady
Prof. Harold Hill and Marian the Librarian from The Music Man
Rev. Purlie and Lutiebelle from Purlie Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked Hedwig and Yitzhak from Hedwig and the Angry Inch J. Pierpont Finch and JB Biggley (and Rosemary?) from How To Succeed in Business... Sally Bowles and the Emcee (and Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz?) from Cabaret Do two sets -- the original 1966 look AND the 1990s revival look Berger, Claude, and Hud from Hair Laurie, Curly, and Jud from Oklahoma! Anna and the King from The King and I Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart from Chicago Capt. Macheath, and Mr. & Mrs. Peachum from Threepenny Not sure which version... the original 1928 Berlin production? The famous 1950s off Broadway production? The sexy 1970s Public Theatre production...?
The whole cast of the original Fantasticks The three (four?) Dreamgirls
The whole cast of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee All the leads from Spring Awakening All the leads from In the Heights All seven leads from Rent All the leads from Avenue Q All the leads from Into the Woods I could keep going. For a long time. But I won't. I'm sure by now you have a dozen in your head that you can't believe I left off my list. I feel your pain. But also, I'm thinking, how much would I (and you) LOVE Pops and linocuts of Jason Robert Brown, Stephen Sondheim, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Bill Finn, Pasek and Paul, Joe Iconis, Kander and Ebb, and sure, why not, Rodgers and Hammerstein. Although personally, I'd love to have a Rodgers and Hart set! And while I'm on a roll, also Hal Prince, Tommy Tune, Bob Fosse, George C. Wolfe, Michael Bennett, Susan Stroman, Michael Mayer, Michael Greif, George Abbott, George M. Cohan... Just think of the thousands of dollars I could blow if all of these were available. Maybe this post isn't such a good idea after all... I'll just leave it there for now... But stop by and see Amanda and Brian and their cool work...! Long Live the Musical!
