study buddies || k.mg x reader
Pairing: frat!mingyu x fem reader
Summary: studying for midterms with the guy you’re hooking up with goes exactly how you’d expect
Warnings: swearing, light smut (18+)
Word Count: 1.6k
a/n: reworked this old blurb originally posted on my tom holland fic account ( @wazzupmrstark ) for my gf’s birthday :)) happy birthday @hotgirlmingyu
Masterlist
You woke up to banging on your apartment door. Groaning, you rolled over to check your phone and saw that it was six am. You pushed yourself up and out of bed and padded into the kitchen to answer the door. You were surprised the relentless knocking hadn’t woken up your roommate, but she was a pretty heavy sleeper.
You yanked the door open to see Mingyu with a handful of textbooks. You squinted at him in confusion, wondering if you were seeing things. Mingyu had never been to your place before, you didn’t even know he knew where you lived.
His appearance startled you a bit. His hair was messy where it was usually slicked back or styled and he was wearing gray sweatpants and a white t-shirt. You didn’t think you’d ever seen him in anything other than khakis and a douchey printed shirt.
“What are you doing here?” you asked, rubbing your eyes.
He frowned. “You said we should study for midterms together.”
You thought back to the last time you’d seen Mingyu. You couldn’t remember saying anything like that.
“Was I drunk?”
“Probably.”
“So why are you here?”
“To study. You agreed that we could help each other out.”
“Mingyu, I don’t even remember agreeing to that.”
“Well I’m already here,” he said and pushed past you into your apartment.
“Seriously? It’s Saturday.”
“Yeah, and midterms are next week.”
“Couldn’t you have waited until the sun was up?” you grumbled, mostly to yourself and shut the door behind him.
“We’ve got a lot of material to cover.”
You cursed under your breath as you watched him set up at your kitchen table, knowing you should probably study even though you desperately wanted to go back to bed.
You and Mingyu had met at a party at his fraternity and woke up the next morning tangled in the sheets of his bed. To say it was awkward would have been an understatement. You didn’t think you’d ever see him again, but to your horror, you saw him in your stats lecture on Monday and your mythology class on Thursday. This was a pretty big university. Why did the same asshole have to be in two of your classes?
As much as it annoyed you, you couldn’t stop thinking about Mingyu, and apparently, he was having a similar dilemma because every time you went out he seemed to be there, and every time you hooked up.
That was the extent of your relationship, though. You didn’t even speak to each other in class or at parties. The only time you talked was behind closed doors when one or both of you was naked. Even then you kept your guard up because you refused to let yourself fall for a frat boy with commitment issues who never wanted to be seen with the same girl twice. A boy who wouldn’t even talk to you in public.
But you couldn’t ignore the way your heart fluttered when he said your name as he was about to cum, or the way his lips felt against yours. He could be a total dick, but you’d also seen a softer side of him that he didn’t show many people. You forced yourself to forget about that side. It was easier that way.
“Okay, what are we starting with?” you asked with a sigh.
“We have the stats exam first, we should work on that.”
You made a face. Statistics was the harder out of the two for you. In fact, it was the hardest class you were taking this semester.
“I can’t believe I’m doing math before seven am.”
“You won’t be complaining when you ace the midterm,” he quipped, already working on a practice worksheet.
You watched him solve problems like he was checking items off a list. You knew he was good at statistics, but you didn’t know he was that good. Figures, a guy like him was good at pretty much everything. Everything except mythology apparently, because once you’d switched to that he was flustered and frustrated. You would quiz him on myths only for him to get every single question wrong.
“Mingyu, did you even read any of these?” you asked, pinching the bridge of your nose.
“Yes, y/n, I read every one. How do you think I passed all the reading quizzes?”
“Cheating?” it slipped out before you could stop it and Mingyu gave you a hard glare. You held up your hands defensively. “Just a joke.”
“I don’t think it was.” He licked his lips. “But for what it’s worth I read them all. I just can’t keep them straight.”
You sighed. You felt bad, but you were getting frustrated too. And not just because Mingyu wasn’t grasping the myths. This was the longest you’d ever spent together (at least while you were awake) and you hadn’t even had sex. He just smelled so nice and looked so cute when he was concentrating that you couldn’t help feeling a little impatient. You had been at it for hours, you thought you would’ve done it at least once by now. But Mingyu was more serious about studying than you thought. It was kind of admirable and kind of annoying.
“Okay well reread through the Egyptian myths and I’ll quiz you again.”
“Alright.”
He pulled out his reading packet and flipped to the section you took out your phone and scrolled through social media mindlessly as he read, but it quickly got boring. You wished Mingyu would take a break so he could rail you. He was still reading intently, but you figured a little distraction couldn’t hurt.
You started by taking your hair down from your bun and shaking it out so that it fell around your shoulders. You knew your shampoo drove Mingyu crazy and hoped it would have an effect on him today. He shifted his seat, but didn’t look up from the packet. Next, you leaned over and rested your head on his shoulder. You’d never done something so domestic like this with Mingyu, but it seemed to work because he cleared his throat and adjusted his sweatpants.
“You know you could be working on math.”
You shrugged. “We already did stats for hours today. I think I’ll jump off a bridge if I look at one more differential equation.”
He fell silent and tried focusing back onto the reading, but you moved your hand to his thigh and kept it there as you continued to through twitter, not even reading what was on your screen.
“Stop that,” Mingyu muttered, making you jump a little.
“Why?”
“Fuck, because you’re distracting me. You look too hot right now.”
“I’m wearing pajamas.”
“I really don’t care. You still look hot and I’m trying not to fuck you senseless right now.”
“Well what’s stopping you?” you asked lowly and nipped at his ear.
“Need to finish this,” he replied through gritted teeth.
“I can’t convince you to take a break?” You moved the hand on his leg up so that you were cupping him over his pants.
He shook his head. “After.”
You leaned over and kissed his neck, then his jaw, and felt him get hard under your hand. “If I have to stop what I’m doing you won’t be able to walk for the next week.”
“That sounds like more of a motivator than a deterrent,” you admitted. “I’ll suck you off,” you offered and hooked your thumb in the waistband of his sweats, trying to bribe him.
“If you let me finish I’ll eat you out,” he countered.
You straightened up. It sounded like a pretty good deal.
“Fine.”
A few minutes passed in silence and you were waiting patiently, typing up a rough draft of an essay you had due for another class when Mingyu groaned.
“What?” you asked, wondering if he needed help.
“Can you please stop that?”
“Stop what? I’m literally doing nothing.” You were genuinely confused now.
“Just- I don’t know you’re making it so hard to concentrate.”
“Am I making it hard?” You smirked.
“Very funny.”
“Would it help if I put a paper bag over my head?”
“Probably.”
“Come on, keep reading about Osiris.”
“I don’t want to read about Osiris anymore, he’s a dick.”
“The faster you finish the faster you can get off.”
“I thought you didn’t want to wait,” Mingyu pointed out, trying to deflect.
“I think I recall something about you going down on me if I let you finish reading.”
“Fine,” he grumbled, but didn’t turn back to the book. Instead, he continued to gaze at you with those big brown eyes. You couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
“What?” You felt your cheeks get warm.
“I just really want to kiss you right now.”
You smiled and raised your chin, challenging him. “Then do it.”
He leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours. You closed your eyes and kissed him back, savoring the moment.
When you pulled away, Mingyu’s eyes were dark with want and you could see that he was now fully hard in his sweatpants.
“How about I eat you out now anyway?” He suggested, leaning forward to kiss your neck.
You moaned and brought your hands to his hair.
“You trying to bribe me?”
“Is it working?”
“Fuck yeah.”
Mingyu stood and picked you up from your chair. You wrapped your legs around his waist again. He pulled on your bottom lip with his teeth and smirked.
“Promise you’ll finish studying after?” you asked.
He considered it. “Does what we’re about to do count as studying mythology? Because it’s going to be legendary.”
You scrunched up your face in distaste. “No, I take it back. Put me down.”
Mingyu grinned. “Hey! You know no ones gives it to you as good as I do.”
“That confident are you?”
His grin turned into a smirk. “Is that a challenge?”
lmk what you think i always appreciated feedback!!

Some of the more interesting bits of today's reset and dialogues. I loved this from Mara. She acknowledges her participation in steering Uldren towards his downfall AND she realises that she will have to do better with him in the future. This is from the ending dialogue when you finish the exotic quest for the Ager's Scepter.
I want to mention something from the start of the week because I've seen people get angry (but when do they not when it comes to Mara?)
Long post under read more:
It's about the discussion she and Ikora have at the terminal. Hot take, but both Mara and Ikora are right and wrong in the argument. Transcript:
Mara: "How long have your Hidden been privy to Uldren's resurrection?" Ikora: "Long enough to watch over him in your absence." Mara: "And you didn't direct him home. Why?" Ikora: "There was a concern he'd pick up some old habits." Mara: "You know the Garden made him sick. Riven twisted his mind. Eris would have seen it. She is not so easily deceived by skin-deep tricks." Ikora: "It's true I made mistakes, out of an idea of justice... out of grief. Are you leveling this same scrutiny toward Petra? Wasn't she supposed to be watching his grave?" Mara: "Petra has paid her dues. The Vanguard murdered him and has yet to pay theirs." Ikora: "We both lost family. I am sorry for my part in yours, but... Crow has been treated --" Mara: "My brother is dead. He was exhumed; his body twisted into a caricature. You had your vengeance." Ikora: "Is that what you're after? Cayde... I still feel that grief like a stone caught in my chest. Some days, it's more pronounced than others. Vengeance didn't erode that grief." Mara: "Then tell me. Who am I to blame? Who sent him to Savathun's clutches? Who bludgeoned Uldren into a scared animal and drove him from his home?" Ikora: "You did, Mara. And those Guardians that hurt him, did so out of misguided anger. Don't make the same mistake. Don't make my mistake."
This is some heavy stuff and there's a lot going on. First, I like that Mara doesn't respond at the end. It's uncharacteristic for her. It shows that Ikora's words did something to her. This is evident in the exotic quest later which I've already put at the beginning of the post. She's had time to think and she's admitting the part she played.
I dislike some of Ikora's arguments a lot. First, "concern that he'd pick up some old habits" goes entirely against the Vanguard policy and belief that Guardians are new people. They were only concerned because of bias towards Uldren due to what he's done. And Crow knows this! He said so last week when he wondered why is he the only Guardian judged by his past life. No one else is subjected to the same way of thinking. This is the reason why Guardians aren't supposed to dig around their past lives. Obviously with Crow, there's no way for him to avoid it, but the argument that, if he knew, he'd just magically become Uldren (and not just base!Uldren, but murderer!Uldren who will... I don't know, go after Ikora and Zavala or the innocent people in the City?) really shows how much the Vanguard mistreated Crow.
I also dislike the move to Petra. As Mara says, Petra has paid her dues. She really has. Let's not forget that Uldren was not just some guy to her or just her Prince; he was her friend. She had to watch him spiral out of control due to things she couldn't help him with, she had to make the choice to put him away until Mara comes back and at the end she had to make the choice to kill him. This trauma has shaped her.
The Vanguard hasn't paid any dues. That's kinda the whole point of Mara's questioning. Ikora tries to explain that this was due to grief and losing family, but pray tell Ikora, has Mara not lost family too? Mara mentions this immediately as expected.
Ikora is however right to say that it was ultimately Mara's actions that led to the situation we're currently in. The Vanguard had no say in Awoken royal family affairs. Mara knows this, she said as much in the past few weeks and other lore in general: she spoke at length about the distance she pushed between them out of perceived necessity, the need to shape Uldren in a way to make him less like himself (since she disliked his recklessness and dangerous behaviours), but ultimately that only made things worse. She's aware that his venture into the Black Garden was fuelled by Uldren's need to prove himself. Ironically, in an effort to make him loyal and devoted, Mara pushed him into more recklessness instead of stopping it. She's aware of this. Asking Ikora "who am I to blame" was just waiting to be roasted.
But Mara is also right to ask about how the Vanguard treated both Uldren and Crow. How they washed their hands from killing him "officially" by hiding behind the Guardian, how nobody in the Tower answered for this. Their treatment of Crow as well: forcing him into hiding, isolating him. Excusing all the suffering he felt at the hands of the Guardians as "misguided anger." The torture he endured from Guardians just for showing his face was so much more than just "misguided anger" and Mara is right to feel heated and enraged when she talks about this and when she asks her questions. She expressed similar distaste and anger in a voice line with Glint in regards to how the Spider treated Crow.
I got an interesting dialogue at the end of my Shattered Realm run which also made me really irritated on behalf of both Crow and Mara when it comes to the Vanguard. Ikora asks Crow why didn't he send his latest report and Crow replies that he's had a lot going on and a lot to deal with. Which is true! He's not the Drifter who doesn't send reports out of spite; Crow genuinely wants to help but he's struggling with a lot of things that we can't even begin to unravel. He deserves patience and understanding. However, the following then ensues.
Ikora:
Tumblr media
Crow:
Tumblr media
Ikora:
Tumblr media
This last part is a nice sentiment. But excuse me. Crow has literally been resurrected, isolated, tortured, enslaved and then "rescued" only to be thrust into a cage in the Tower and given "responsibilities." He is not obliged to be the Vanguard's errand boy. It's honestly quite rude from Ikora to tell him that he has to take his responsibilities seriously. The man hasn't lived a single day in his life without anxiety over whether he'll be tortured to death in the street if he shows his face.
I know the Vanguard gave him protection from the Spider and stuff to do (which he enjoys) and accepted him into their ranks. That's all good. But there's very little empathy here that acknowledges the life he's lived. Crow deserves to experience things that aren't isolation, imprisonment and following orders.
And most of all, he deserves to know the truth. Something the Vanguard has denied him for almost a year now. I know Savathun's schemes were involved and specifically, they were involved through impersonating Osiris which made a lot of people turn a blind eye. But now that this is known?
Crow can't share his burdens without knowing the truth. That's the whole problem. Everybody, except him, knows who he was. Everyone looks at him and treats him through that lens. He can't unburden himself without being told half-truths and being denied information. His burdens exist precisely because he doesn't know while everyone else does. So while the sentiment is nice, it reads more like a "that sucks buddy" than a genuine offer to help him with what is really bothering him.
On the other hand, obviously sharing the truth is difficult. His past life is more complicated than for most other Guardians. He's been through things that other Guardians haven't. The situation is complex on every single level and every character has a reason for the choices they've made.
Sometimes those choices are wrong and they are mistakes. And Mara isn't the only one who made the wrong choices and mistakes, consciously and unconsciously. It's a disservice to the complexity of the situation, Ikora, the Vanguard and Uldren to boil everything down to "Mara bad." Doesn't make for a compelling story.
That's what I wanted to address in detail because on the surface, it's easy to just dismiss either of the character you dislike more. And that's just reducing the story to a spectrum of black and white that Destiny really, ironically, isn't about.

Hey, 4, 8 and 13 for the classics asks (if you're still doing those)?
@vanth-charun I am always up for asks! And I posted that ask meme today, so it’s still ‘open’!  When I post one of these memes, I try my best to reply to all of the asks that day. Anyhow, thanks for submitting! Let’s get down to the fun stuff!
4. tell me about the classical ladies you love the most.
I have too many classical ladies I love, but on the top of my list are Livia, Agrippina the Younger and Julia Flavia. (Sorry Drusilla, your sister gets the spotlight today.)
I love Livia because she is an amazing woman. She was the mother of Rome and not only wrote her husband daily, but seemed to truly care about him. I know people say she murdered Augustus, but I don’t think that’s true. She made him clothes herself and helped run the empire. I don’t think of the Roman Empire as being just Augustus’ creation, but both of them. Livia was a strong woman who needs more love and credit.
Agrippina the younger is an amazing person as well. She knew what she wanted and went after it. Yes, she married her uncle, Claudius, but she had her sights set high. And from what I have read of history books, women in general (Yes. I am generalizing here) are torn down for their ambitions and Agrippina was no exception. People say she was over-bearing to Nero and I can understand that anyone can be, but I feel from what I know of her, she wanted power. It ran in the family and she managed to get what she wanted. She should be proud.
Julia Flavia is someone people tend to forget and it makes me sad. She was Titus’ only daughter and she was married to her second-cousin, Titus Flavius Sabinus III. (I think she WAS, if I remember right). And then Sabinus died in a fire (I am not sure if I have to RIGHT one, there were 3 people by the same name in the family) After this, or in the course of their marriage (I still need to figure out the time frame) Flavia ended up being taken by her uncle Domitian as his ‘wife’ or so he treated her like, from what I hear. The thing is that it seemed clear to me that Domitian abused her. Historically, he ended up killing her. It was an all-around tragedy and the way the ancient historians seemed to write about Flavia was much different than Agrippina and Livia. They didn’t really blame her for anything and painted her as a victim which is a first. (It’s not good to be painted this way, but when roman historians tend to blame women for everything, it’s refreshing they saw Flavia like a human being.) The weird thing is that way before Domitian took Flavia, his brother Titus asked if he wanted to marry his daughter. Domitian said no and then down the line, changed his mind. (And oddly enough, from what I read recently, Domitian could have legally married Flavia. Why? Because Claudius made the senate allow uncles and nieces to marry so he would wed Agrippina.) I still feel SO bad for Sabinus sometimes and I compare this story a lot to The Phantom of the Opera, honestly. But in this version, the Phantom kidnaps Christine and lights her husband Raul on fire. Then, tires of Christine and kills her.
And we, the audience, all cried.
8. what are your five favourite myths?
These aren’t in any order:
Hades and Persephone (Which is like if Domitian/Flavia were a normal couple.)
The Story of Rhea and Cronus
The Death of Baldur (Hey, no one said had to be Greek or Roman!)
Thor’s Missing Hammer (Aka, when Thor dresses in drag)
And finally, the Myth of Isis and Osiris
13. if you could time-travel to the classical world for a day, where would you go and why?
Um… well… this is hard. I will go with my first thought. As much as I want to meet Augustus or someone else important, I feel obliged to the people of Rome to do the following:
1. Travel to the isle of Capri in the early 1st century
2. Find Tiberius’ Villa
3. Find Tiberius
4. Push him off the cliff
5. Make sure he is dead, dead, dead.
6. Hug Caligula
5. (possibly) find Vitellius
7. Give him a hug- (maybe. I donno, I’m torn. I might just hug Caligula. I don’t know if I want to wander through actual HEL to find Vitellius)
8. Go home.
And we have had a very productive travel through time.
Hey! Thanks so much for the ask! Have a great day!

Status Quo Sunday Is Feeling The Feels
NEW SONG: "The Most Epic T-Shirt" (From Patreon)
My first Patreon Song, now available to all of you! This was an idea I had for quite a while, looking at all of those crossover shirts both legitimate (See my song "Think Geek Is Not Nerdcore") and illegitimate (See, like 90% of Redbubble, Etsy and Your Local Con). So really, why not just make a T-shirt with a million references on them? And yes, the T-shirt will be real... very soon. ANIME IWAI IS THIS WEEKEND! Just a reminder of the events I'm going to be at: Hardcore Nerdcore Punk Rock Featuring Rhythm Bastard  Saturday, November 11th 3:00 PM- 4:00 PM Panel Room 2 MY CONCERT! Again, working on the setlist for this one is fun, since I can throw in SO MANY more new songs, and I'm working on having a new piece of merch ready by then. I just got off of Fantoku: An Orlando Nerd Fest Show, and I'm ready and raring to go with a killer new set! 3000 Brigade Presents: Mushroom High Rules! Saturday, November 11th Doors Open at 8:00 PM Main Events OR Fast Times At Mushroom High The 3000 Brigade is the largest active cosplay performance troupe in the country! They are proud and excited to bring their next performance to anime Iwai. It is a comedy variety show with amazing costumes, wild sexy dancing, stage combat, and many of your favorite beloved characters acting very inappropriately. This year marks a decade of 3KB shows. Please come celebrate with us! 3000 Brigade Meet And Greet Saturday, November 11th 10:00 PM Main Events
Did you enjoy the show? Did you hate the show? Did you forget to get there early and want to know what you missed? Come and ask any and all questions from the cast and crew of the latest 3KB show.
I did this late, and RAW is on, so I'm kinda rushing through all of this. Iwaivor Series Saturday, November 12th 3:00 PM-4:00 PM Panel Room 2 A Tag Team Throwdown where you and a partner can pummel your way through the competition to win the Championship Belt! There will be thrills, chills, spills, and maybe one of the commenters will wear a silly costume! It will be on WCW/NWO Revenge for the Nintendo 64 until we can find another game. Bring your own Nintendo 64 if you want to ensure that they'll work. FANTOKU: AN ONF EVENT I forgot to post it up on here because I was given the slot 48 hours before the show, and I was ALL HANDS ON DECK preparing. The great thing is that I tried a lot of new stuff with regards to my live act, and it went over well! Look forward to that for future con shows! I played the opening slot on Saturday, and there were people there ready to rock out! Unfortunately, there might not be much in the way of video, since the stream wasn't up by the time I began. However, there will be pictures, some of them shirtless! Overall, it was great to see everyone again after so long. Orlando Nerd Fest's description isn't kidding when they that it's also part family reunion. While Orlando is probably the capital for Nerdcore music, there's a lot of us spread throughout the country, and major events like ONF and MAGFest are good opportunities to reunite with people you've only talked to and worked with online. I got to meet with Twill in person, watch her crush her set with Wreck The System and reenact the infamous MIRACLES! scene, I got to see DJ Roborob after so long, and I reunited cool Orlando guys Marc With A C, Eye Q, Sci-Fried, Jackson Parodi and Ben Briggs. I challenged the lead singer of Sci-Fried to Hearthstone, because they have a song called "Boom Boom C'Thun". He declined, because he knew what would have happened: (Picture by Zippo514) (I'd be Gul'Dan BTW) For breakout acts, ONF 2015 had (in my opinion) SkyBlew and Navi. This year, was Wreck The System's year to shine.  Wreck The System are 4 MCs (Cam3, Lady J, Osiris Green and Twill Distilled) who've banded together to create awesome music and put on kick ass shows. Seriously, they were intense and their stage show was well choreographed. Which I can aprreciate, since 3000 Brigade practice is making my body feel stupid. JAM OF THE WEEK: "Berserk" by Wreck The System
youtube
They have another single that release last month, "Hotel Party", that captures the feeling of 1 AM debauchery on the Friday Night of a con, but this one better shows  their skills on the mic. via Blogger http://ift.tt/2zoVK6r
