One point that I personally haven't seen a lot make about amc's interview with the vampire especially compared to the movie (and honestly the book) is how much of a character new orleans is. I'm biased being from new orleans (seeing black vampires in New orleans made me wanna originally watch the show lol) but it's really amazing to see.

Setting plays such a pivotal role in storytelling/character development and this show just gets it. Like in the movie if they didn't mention new orleans it wouldn't even feel like the story takes place there while with the show new orleans is so prevalent. Not be all English class but Anne Rice was from new orleans and set here story there for a reason. If season 1 wasn't set in New Orleans you could see how this wouldn't even be the same show

my card broke so ive been eating food i already have for 2 days and i invented a weird recipe where you take the starch water from washing rice and combine it with sugar and lemon juice and reduce for legit an hour until the bubbles get big and thick and it becomes a sticky mochi. pretty good. enjoyed it

You mentioned having to work at finding Soowon's voice for To All the Ghosts, and I believe you mentioned struggling with Shirayuki's voice in early fics, so my question: do you have a process for finding characters' voices?

Mostly it's something I find through drafts. Some characters come easy (Suzu, for one, because he is such a weirdo), but new characters are always a process, some more than others. Lili was much easier, because she's a character you can KNOW through her dialogue. She wears her heart on her sleeve and so just by reading the manga you have her voice.

Soowon is a much more private character. No one truly know him, not even himself, so you have to piece it together from everyone around him. How he reacts to people. All the things he doesn't say. And so I'll use my first draft to get down lines and actions, stuff I'm generally solid on what he needs to do...and then really flesh out the internal narration in the second draft. Why is he doing this? How does he feel? And since he's incapable of looking an emotion straight in the face, how do i convey that without saying a word of it? 😅

Shirayuki was a similar challenge, because she's so nice. She might get sassy, but she's not snarky. So first draft was what I wanted to get across...and second draft was walking it back to be NICER.

What was your favorite episode of IWTV?

ok this is hard because I think the BEST episode is the pilot because it literally showcases damn near everything I love about the show, kicks my fucking ass emotionally, and also proved me so wrong because full disclosure I expected the show to be ass. I was wrong. Had to make a formal statement and apology on my priv twitter. That being said I dunno if I could call it my fav because like I said emotionally its very difficult...

I've been eating real home-cooked food everyday basically except the 2 days my mom kicked me out (that's a story for another post) and my body feels so.....good? And it's like, ik there's a ton of cals in it but if I keep being able to portion control i should be fine???? I don't even feel the need to binge bc it's not shitty empty carbs it's real food. I've been bloated everyday for 3 months and I woke up this morning completely bloat free??

Reading The Vampire Lestat because the iwtv show made me want to give it another try and I got to Armand's backstory and then I went to the wiki and got Armand's ~expanded~ backstory and actually yeah I do actually think Armand absolutely should be allowed to do what he wants forever and you can't be mad at him for any of it

final review of seeing iwtv 1994 with a fresh set of eyes: for all of the timeline and plot shifting the show did.. unlike THIS MOVIE, it kept the SPIRIT of the book alive. the minute details that they altered in the film really kill the vibe more than anything 😭😭😭
