Yo, Emma! Lately I quite often have nightmares after which I wake up with a cry. How Gladdy would react on this and how he could console his s/o?

so nightmares are definitely not a foreign topic to the shield

i mean between spending so much time with noctis and prompto who have both 100% woken gladio up at night due to their cries/moans/gasps/etc. and his own night terrors as well, he’s got Experience

that being said it definitely won’t take him more than a single night to realize that you suffer from frequent nightmares as well

not thinking much about it he’ll sit up and gently shake you awake

he may or may not have to dodge a few flying fists but again he’s use to it

once you do wake up he’ll ask if there’s anything he can do to help

if you’re too shaken to verbally say anything he’ll list options for you and just have you nod or shake your head (a glass of water, cuddles/a hug, etc.)

tbh he’ll probably grow to simply do the little list thing from then on just bc it’s easier and keeps him from assuming what you want to feel better

it’s not always gonna be the same answer kids rule of thumb right there

he’s even willing to sleep with a small lamp on if that’s what’ll help make you feel safe again 

he can sleep at any given time tbh like he don’t caaaaaaare

and if you maybe want him to not touch you that’s fine as well, he’ll understand completely, especially considering he himself is like that after particular nightmares as well

it all ends up becoming a give and take sort of situation where he’ll comfort you when you have a nightmare and you’ll do the same for him when he has one

though ofc waking him up is a little more dangerous considering the power behind that swing of his lmao
