You know, that iconic part of Return of the King where Legolas goes and hangs out outside the Tower of Cirith Ungol for two days. Well. I didn't like it.

Far be it from me to criticize the writing in the Mordor quests (🚨SARCASM ALERT 🚨) but the entire tower of Cirith Ungol story arc really does have all the orcs constantly talking about how they're looking for some kind of "great elf warrior" that they're sure is still around there somewhere and meanwhile Legolas spends the whole time just kind of chilling like six feet away from the tower not hiding at all and nothing ever comes of that

#apparently it doesnt even always have to be a regular lotr post #anyhow i will never speak about the professors writing the way i talk about the thing they call writing that resulted in lotro mordor quest #its one of those 'theres a lot of really compelling stuff here and i dont think you the people who wrote it are aware of that' things #its not that bad there were just a lot of missed opportunities and like. things they skimmed over that they really shouldnt have #you disguise yourself as an orc to infiltrate a garrison at the tower of cirith ungol #who are investigating why the previous garrison all randomly murdered each other #and theyve heard tell of some 'great elf warrior' who they say was involved #sam obviously #but they dont know that #and neither does legolas or the player character although legolas does eventually figure it out #anyway legolas is helping you with this and instead of giving him a nice little hiding place or a disguise of his own #he just spends the entire story arc standing on the road in front of the tower #you go in and put on your disguise and all the orcs tell you about this elf warrior theyre after #whos clearly very dangerous and theyre all terrified that theyll be next if they dont kill or capture him #and then you go out and talk to your elf warrior friend whos standing LITERALLY ON THE DOORSTEP #the whole time i was like 'oh okay i see where this plot is going' and then it just. didnt #it was so frustrating!!!!!
