i am always reminded on why i hate twitter 😭 i made a post talking about how people dismiss both mike and will moments and there’s also people who dismiss mike and el moments, i was saying that whether you ship byler or the other ship, it’s clearly intentional that it’s a love triangle.
and i even compared it to steve/nancy/jonathan in s1 era since i’ve been a fan of the show since 2016. After s1 blew up, everyone was talking and fighting about that love triangle when 1) nancy was with steve, 2) we didn’t know if jonathan liked nancy, and 3) we didn’t know if nancy liked jonathan.
i thought i was being fairly objective about it, and even giving mike and el’s relationship more credit than i do on here (yes i’m scared of twitter users) so i really didn’t think anyone would be upset. stranger things has definitely played into the love triangle surrounding mike, especially the stranger things writers twitter.
so i honestly don’t get why people are arguing with me saying “mike doesn’t like will” “will’s feelings are one-sided” and “mike isn’t confused about his feelings” ??? like i’m sorry but since when did any of that matter with a love triangle within a fandom? i also mention that shows typically love to have love triangles to create conflict, and also for media engagement. i mean look, we’re still here 7 months later talking about this triangle, and the show in general. that’s what they want.
not one byler has argued with me on that tweet m. i don’t think the other ship has only bad fans, but why is it always them arguing and being nasty/condescending? and i’m literally trying my hardest to be nice and even being more accepting of the ship than i usually would be haha. twitter is just an awful place for genuine discussions with people you don’t see exactly eye to eye on, honestly.
