Decorative Delicateness | Hyunjin
Day 7 of the 12 Days of Staymas!
Synopsis: Painted ornaments and playful moments turn you and Hyunjin's living room into a creative wonderland full of love and memories.
Pairing: bf!Hyunjin x reader
Genre: non-idol!au, fluff!
Warnings: None!
Notice: Hello, darlings! I hope you all enjoy day 7 <3
The snow-dusted evening sky cast a bluish glow over the house, moonlight reflecting gently off of the frost-bitten windows. Inside, the living room radiated with warmth, between soft candles illuminating the room and the faint aroma of peppermint adorning the interior. Hyunjin had transformed the coffee table into an artist's playground, littered with paint tubes, brushes, and blank ceramic ornaments waiting to come to life.
"Y'know, we could've just bought pre-decorated ornaments," you teased settling cross legged in the cushioned-chair beside Hyunjin. A mug of hot cocoa sat half-forgotten in the midst of the artistic wonderland, the marshmallows dissolving slowly into froth swirls as the heat waned.
Hyunjin shots you a look, his lips twitching cheekily upward.
"Pre-decorated ornaments don't have any character." His voice carried that familiar hint of dramatic flair as he dipped a fine-tipped brush into crimson paint and began to outline the petals of a poinsetta on one, glossy ornament.
"My apologies," you replied. "I didn't know our tree needed 'character.'"
Your eyes wandered to his profile - the way his brows kit in concentration, the slight pout of his lips as he worked, and the strand of dark hair that had escaped his messy ponytail to fall across his forehead. Absentmindedly, you reached up to tuck the loose follicle behind his ear.
His brush paused mid-stroke, and he glanced at you, his smile softening into one of quiet appreciation. You hummed, reaching for one of the blank ornaments. Deciding to contribute to the task at hand, you chose bold, darker paints for a rudimentary reindeer; although, your artistic endeavors led to wonky antlers and an enlarged red nose. Hyunjin, ever the art critic, leaned over to inspect it.
"Interesting," he murmured, his lips twitching as if he was trying to suppress a laugh. "I think it's missing something."
"Like what?" you challenged, narrowing your eyes.
Without answering, he grabbed a fine brush and dipped it into metallic gold paint. With quick, elegant strokes, he transformed the questionable antlers into gleaming arcs adorned with tiny stars. He handed the ornament back to you, grinning.
"Now it's perfect."
"You just have to outdo me, huh?" You eyed his handiwork, a reluctant smile tugging at your lips.
"I can't help it. You inspire me," he retaliated, flashing you a wink before returning to his own project - a simple red ornament, complimented by sparkling snowflakes.
As the evening unfolded, the two of you worked side by side, your laughter and playful banter filling the room. Hyunjin's designs grew more intricate with each ornament; he painted delicate holly sprigs, a couple of candy canes, and even a small portrait of Kkami in a Santa hat. You, on the other hand, embraced simplicity with stripes, hearts, and clumsy stars.
At one point, you smudged an ornament while trying to paint a candy cane. Hyunjin noticed immediately.
"Let me see," he commanded, his tone gentle as he reached for the orb. His long fingers steadied as they transformed the streak of white into a cascade of tiny snowflakes. When he handed it back, the smudge had turned into something beautiful.
"Show-off," you muttered in attempts to play angry; however, the admirable sparkle in your eyes gave you away.
"It's a gift," he teased, leaning closer to tap the tip of your nose with a paint-speckled finger. "You're welcome."
The ornaments, once painted, began finding their place on the tree. Hyunjin took charge, carefully selecting the perfect branch for each piece. When he pointed to a high spot for his poinsetta ornament, you raised an eyebrow.
"Unless you've got a stepladder hidden somewhere, this ornament is staying lower."
"I've got something better than a stepladder." Hyunjin's grin turned michevious, and before you could protest, his hands were on your waist, lifting you effortlessly into the air. "There! Now you can reach."
"Hyunnie!" you squealed, clutching onto his shoulders as he steadied you. "Put me down!"
"Not until you hang the ornament."
Laughing, you obliged, carefully hooking the ornament onto the high-up branch. When he finally set you down, his hands lingered on your waist, his dark eyes warm as they met yours. For a moment, the world seemed to narrow to just the two of you, bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight.
"You're really serious about this whole decorating thing, huh?" you asked, your voice silencing slightly.
"It's special," he nodded, his expression turning shy. "We're making memories."
"You're such a sap," your heart melted at his words.
"And you love it," he countered, pulling you into a sweet kiss before turning to the tangled string of Christmas lights on the floor.
Untangling those turned out to be its own adventure. Hyunjin's solution, at one point, was to drape them around you as if you were a human Christmas tree.
"Perfect!" he declared, stepping back to admire his creation.
"You're ridiculous!" you giggled. "Get me outta this mess!"
By the time the tree was fully decorated, the room had transformed. Ornaments shimmered under the twinkling lights, and the peppermint scent from the candles mingled with an aroma of accomplishment. You and Hyunjin stood back to admire your efforts.
"It's so beautiful," you whispered.
"Just like you," he replied, his voice soft as he pressed a kiss to your temple. His arms circled your waist, pulling you closer as the two of you swayed gently back and forth; no music was playing, but the intimacy was still adoring.
Outside, the snow continued to fall silently and serenely. Inside, wrapped in Hyunjin's arms, the world felt warmer than ever - filled with love, laughter, and Christmas magic.

If Kit was being entirely honest...dawning was one of his favorite times of the year. Kelpie taking him out on his boat had been lovely, and Kit had adored every single second of it. It did leave something though- Kit needed to give back to Kelpie.
He woke up later than the other usually- but he made it a point this morning to get up early, and slink out of bed quietly enough to not wake the other. He couldn't really get a tree in...but he decorated the house with mistletoe anyways. He debated on poinsettas, but he didn't grow them because of how toxic they were...and that fact reminded him he definitely did not want them in his home. He settled on some red and white roses that he had brought inside to shield from the frost a while ago.
By the end, their house looked postively festive. He pushed the presents for Kelpie under the tree as a final touch, before stepping back. When he was satisfied after a few small adjustments, he let Peach out on Kelpie- intending the dog to wake the other up.
"Tah-daaa~" He jokingly greeted, giggling as Kelpie came into the living room. "I did some small decorating while you were asleep. I...also, wanted to give back to you for the ride on the ship." Kit reached up, rubbing the back of his neck as he stepped aside to let Kelpie at the presents.
Three gifts. The largest- with a red ribbon- was a new tacklebox, one of the fancy ones that folded out into even more shelves. The second, a fishfinder. Kit knew Kelpie probably had no priblem finding fish when he did go fishing but... that would make it even easier, he hoped. The third was less related to fishing- a blue and tan fur lined coat, for the colder season in the appalachias which...was the better part of the year.
#Kit ☆ Be a little sheep learning who'll shear and who'll feed.#Ship • If we are worth anything later we are worth something now.

jameson jumble. | solo
WHO: sam evans & james evans (mentions of others)
WHAT: a father-son chat.
WHEN: 1/7; evening
WHERE: the evans residence
WARNINGS: mentions of drinking, alcholism WC: 1494
Sam shifted the grocery bags to one hand, enough to unlock the front door and step inside. Surely, he could have taken a reasonable amount with him and brought the rest for a second trip but the cold Maine weather swayed him otherwise. The brisk wind followed him inside and he rushed to set the bags down and shut out the frosty air, thankful for the heat that soon enveloped him on his walk to the kitchen.
Two months (and a small chunk of his savings) later, the place was looking better. The walls patched and repainted, this time a soft white that brightened the space in a subtle way that the previous yellow lacked. He even managed to find some leftover fabric tucked away in a box in the upstairs attic, a long ago purchase from his mother.
A few rounds in the washer and a generous amount of color safe bleach made them fit for new curtains, the small, colorful sprays of flowers looking very reminiscent of the old curtains his mother had years ago. It felt right, having the kitchen back in some kind of order for Christmas. Sam didn’t want to dodge Stacy’s questions about the burn marks or why things remained somewhat icy between Sam and their father.
James appeared sober for the holiday, but Sam knew better. Christmas usually kept him in a slump. It’d been his mother’s favorite holiday and she usually went all out. It wasn’t unusual to find her bustling around the kitchen, the smell of cinnamon, butter, and sugar practically smacking them in the face from all her baking. Every inch of the house decked out because Maggie Evans never met a garland or poinsetta she didn’t like. The contrasts of Christmases with his mother and the ones without were stark. There’d been attempts. The earlier afters were half-hearted efforts from James to keep their traditions alive but Sam could always smell the whiskey on his father’s breath and the stronger it got, the less James stopped trying.
But Sam tried; mostly for Stacy. And the two of them carried on the baking and decorations, attending mass and making Christmas dinner. They’d watch Christmas movies, with Sam doing impressions just to make Stacy laugh and overall, it was good. Their own little traditions.
With Stacy spending New Year’s Eve in Portland with friends, it freed Sam up to catch up on sleep. The prospect of hanging out at the bar didn’t appeal and he wasn’t exactly in the mood for drunk revelry. He’d found his father slumped in his chair, the television on an old black and white and a highball glass loosely clasped in his slackened grip. The last thing they needed was an accident on the first day of the year. And besides, it wasn’t the first time. The scene was a frustratingly familiar one. So much so that James didn’t even stir when Sam plucked the glass from his fingers, nor did he move when the TV shut off and Sam tossed a blanket on him. Later on, well into the early hours of the beginnings of 2019.
But Stacy was gone. And soon, he would be too.
In the back of his mind, however, Sam knew this arrangement, the back and forth between Boston and Castleport would come to a head. He felt tugged in different directions, trying to maintain the hold he had on the life he loved in Boston and the obligations that called to him in his hometown. And perhaps, it’d be easier to navigate if things were actually moving along with his own shop idea. Finding the building downtown had been a plus, but now he was stuck playing the waiting game with Hunter’s plot to...well Sam wasn’t entirely sure what specifically his friend had in mind but he was fairly certain it involved upstaging the senior Clarington.
Not to mention handling the bar. More and more, it seemed James was falling short of his duties. Marie had been a constant but Sam knew her patience with the elder Evans was wearing thin, no matter how much she seemed to understand. James had that way about him, not exactly ruining bridges with a full on fire but rather chipping away until the cracks formed and Sam couldn’t predict when it would all come crashing down.
Jaw clenched, he put away the groceries and found his way to the living room. He’d been surprised to see James there, perched in his old recliner and judging from the glassy look in reddened eyes, he was at least five drinks deep. Indeed, the bottle of Jameson beside him was only half-empty and Sam knew there’d be no stopping until he drained it all.
With a resigned sigh, Sam picked up the sketchbook he’d left on the coffee table earlier and turned to head to his room. No sense in dealing with it when he didn’t have to.
“Where’ve you been?” The quiet question caught him off guard and Sam stopped to face his father, whose gaze hadn’t lifted from the television and the movie playing on screen. Some classic black and white with Humphrey Bogart that Sam couldn’t recall, least off the top of his head.
“Grocery store.” It would have been fairly obvious, judging from the bags he’d hauled in but he was sure James didn’t even know what time it was, let alone being able to guess the rustle of plastic bags in a firm grip. And Sam wanted to be annoyed by that, but instead he found himself asking “Did you eat?”
James lifted a large hand and waved away the question. “S’fine. Went to the bar.”
So he was farther gone than the single bottle. Sam only just stopped himself from sighing, unable to find a response to any of that because it was obvious what his father had been doing at the bar and it clearly wasn’t working.
“The blonde. Behind the bar.”
Oh, right. He wouldn’t have known about Quinn being hired, nevermind that it was weeks ago. Even in a haze of alcohol, James could at least function enough to keep up with the goings on, but now it seemed even that was a struggle. “That’s Quinn. She’s new.”
“That ain’t Marie, kid.”
“I know. It’s Quinn. Fabray. She’s the new bartender.”
James barked out a sharp, dry laugh and lifted the glass to his lips for a long pull of his whiskey. “Russell Fabray’s kid? Yale got a bartending school now?”
Sam shrugged. He really didn’t want to get into the particulars of his hiring decision even though he could understand his father’s surprise. But Quinn’s business was her own, and she hadn’t broken anything so far, so he was fine with her being there. “She’s good and the bar needed the help. I made the call.”
James gave a small hum at that, only turning briefly to study his son before focusing back to the television. “She’s a ball-buster. They’ll like her.”
“Yeah.” It occured to Sam that this was the most he’d spoken to his father since Stacy had been there. With her gone, small talk seemed unnecessary. With his sketchbook in hand, he moved to head back into the kitchen to leave his father to his night of drinking that Sam would no doubt have to pick him up from.
The coffee was brewing and he heard his father speak again, muffled by the noise of the drip and the action playing out on screen. James was busy pouring himself another (full) glass and Sam grimaced slightly when he knocked it back with nothing more than a gulp and soft hiss. “What?”
He wasn’t even sure if James’d been talking to him and was about to turn back when his father spoke again. “The alley. By the bar.”
Sam’s brow furrowed. “What about it?”
“The girl. In the alley.”
“What girl?”
“The gone one.”
Sam could feel the impatience rising, warring with his confusion. He didn’t have time for it, to play guessing games with a man so far left of sober. There was no way to even decode that and it seemed as if James had decided the ramble was enough, bright eyes already back to the television and ol’ Bogey, slinking around a darkened corridor with a pretty haired woman waiting in the shadows.
The Maltese Falcon.
Olive eyes narrowed, shifting between the screen to his father. “Yeah. I’ve seen it before.”
“She was there. I saw her.”
“That’s kind of the point, it’s the twist.” He sighed, feeling no less confused but in no mood to sort it all out. “Gonna go make some coffee. Seems like you need it too.” Sam didn’t wait for his reply, for the protest of ‘fine’ that would follow. He didn’t need his father completely shitfaced on a weekday, nothing to hinder his plans for leaving town as soon as he could.
Something to overthink for another day.

Sunday 6 January 2002 - visit to the Zoo Vienna Schönbrunn - Grinzing - Upper Belvedere - tram ride from Schottentor to Karlsplatz - Praterstern
Hi everyone! Grüezi mitenand! Hallo allerseits! Üdv mindenkinek! Ahoj všetci!
Today twenty years ago, I was staying in Vienna. My last full day I remained in Vienna but since it was a nice sunny day, despite the cold, I managed to see a few sights of cultural importance. For example the Zoo in Schönbrunn, adjacent botanical gardens, district of Grinzing in the north, and the Upper Belvedere museum that has the Klimt works.
Since I was not in any hurry to catch the train to anywhere outside of Vienna that day, I slept about a half hour longer than the previous day. I had breakfast and caught the 52A bus to connect at Hütteldorf to the U4. I would not have to transfer anywhere as the U4 went directly to the Hietzing station. It was about a quarter mile further to the zoo entrance. What is so significant about this particular zoo? Many say it is the oldest zoo still continuously run. Its most popular attraction is the leopard enclosure, near the tigers. But, and this is **very important**, the Vienna Zoo does **not** have any animals from Australia, most definitely not any kangaroos. Despite what the map in https://www.zoovienna.at/.../plan2016_winter_eng_web.pdf shows, in 2002 there were no kangaroos to be found.
The zoo had a very competitive admission price that included visiting the adjacent botanical gardens. As it was winter, many animals would be hibernating. Those who did not hibernate by nature, were located indoors behind glass and heated to about 68 degrees or so. The buildings that housed the birds, primates, elephants and penguins had some moderate activity. Outside the polar bears were enjoying the cold weather. The tigers, maybe not so much. I did not see any of the black-and-white pandas, but the zoo had probably four of the red pandas climbing up a tree and walking on the grorund. I think I spent about two hours in the zoo. And never found the kangaroos.
It was time for lunch and luckily I managed to get to the "Tirolergarten Tavern" next to the tyrolean farm house. They were serving Schnitzel among other things, and it was too good to pass up. I had one with fries and a beer. Then I headed to the botanical gardens. My ticket to the botanical gardens was included in my zoo admission. I spent about an hour in there, to see the plants, including the Edelweiss flower, the poinsetta and a few citrus trees that would normally not survive the cold austrian winters.
While I was still in Vienna, I thought to visit Grinzing. It is a district in the extreme north of Vienna, close to the Heiligenstadt U-Bahn station. I needed to only board at Hietzing and remain on the U4 until Heiligenstadt, and then board a 38A bus to Armbrustergasse. I stayed probably twenty minutes in Grinzing until 2:30 PM before boarding a tram line 37 at Hohe Warte back to downtown at Schottentor to change to the tram line 2 that travels along the former city wall in a circle, ending up at Schwarzenbergplatz. I would walk from there to the entrance to Oberes Belvedere, though I could have taken a tram but then missed out on appreciating the Belvedere's courtyard.
The Upper Belvedere museum has really nice works, and the time I was there, also was the Gustav Klimt work "The Kiss" https://www.belvedere.at/.../0x4CA2418EF4A0632395E9C5B5F4... Klimt used gold leaf for some of his works. Photography was not allowed in the museum, and I should have bought one of the hardback picture books that are offered on sale as sort of a compensation for the photography ban. Maybe another time if and when I manage to visit Vienna again. I managed to buy a Klimt The Kiss postcard and send it to the USA. There was a much larger replica of "The Kiss" and could be seen for free at the Südbahnhof but that has since been demolished.
After the Upper Belvedere, it was time to go for a walk in the Prater park. That is where the giant ferris wheel, the Volksrad, is located. I don`t remember exactly how I managed to go from Schwarzenbergplatz to Praterstern. My last visit to the Prater was 31st July 1998 and then it was very busy. By about 5:30 PM it was getting quite dark and I don`t think the ferris wheel was making any more rides for the day. I went to buy a small snack and then back to the hostel. I would have a long train ride the next day, to Munich, the last stop on my journey.
Next story: last long train ride for January 2002 and walking through the marginally slushy downtown of Munich where there had been snow and periods of thawing out and refroze.
Hope you will join in tomorrow’s adventure!
Ich hoffe, Ihr nehmt am morgigen Abenteuer teil!
Remélem, csatlakozol a holnapi kalandhoz!
Dúfam, že sa zapojíte do zajtrajšieho dobrodružstva!

i want to make my own christmas+halloween aesthetic that is like the inverse of nightmare before christmas?
like....jack o lanterns painted white or icy blue. ugly christmas sweaters with lil skeletons wearing santa hats. using a ouija board on christmas eve to contact the ghosts of christmas past present and future. snowmen with devils horns or dracula capes. that lil elf dude that just shows up places in your house. tis the season to be naughty and don the gayest apparel. poinsettas, holly, and mistletoe are all poisonous so they fit right in already. krampus always lingering in the back of our minds.
#does this make sense. like i want to combine the two but not like nightmare before christmas bc that was halloween#trying to do christmas. i wanna be christmas trying to do halloween ya kno what i mean?#i need a moodboard. ideas are appreciated to manifest my idea#op

These are our names tags that we wear…….Impressive aren’t they…..Hahaha…..
Since right after Christmas, it seems the RVs just keep coming in. Lot of them waited till after Christmas and some others after New Years to come down. We are now almost full. Just a few more to come. They all have the same story. It was soooooooooo cold where they came from….Could hardly wait to get here. I remember how excited I was to talk to Debbie from home and tell her how I couldn’t wait to get down here and leave the cold behind. Now I am sitting in that chair and answering the phone and hearing that same story several times a day. lol. How the tables turn………Our street, which is Albatross Dr. is now just one RV away from being full. We have a neighbor coming Feb 1, then our street will be full of 24 spots. Our street is mostly full of motorhomes, fifth wheels and a few permanent park models.
All the streets have names of birds. Redbird St. Bobwhite Dr. Whipoorwill Dr. White Dove Dr. Hummingbird Ct. Robin lane, Road Runner Rd. Green Jay St. Blue Jay St. and what name do we have? Albatross Drive…..lol…Just doesn’t seem so Pretty and carefree….lol….Oh Well….But we do have nice neighbors.
Speaking of nice neighbors. Remember how I was complaining about not finding Western French dressing in the grocery stores? Then I found it at San Benito Walmart. Just before Christmas, my neighbor and Good Friend Cici came over with a present. lol She had a cardboard box….She had me open it and what do ya suppose….hahaha…..7 bottles of Western Dressing. She went to San Benito Walmart and bought ALL they had on the shelf….OH MY…How we laughed…..It was so funny. Her and Larry are such good neighbors. So now I will be making Taco Salad for Pot Lucks on Thur. nites…lol
I have a few more pictures to add of plants growing so beautifully. I was walking around and much to my surprise I found a Poinsetta growing as a bush in full bloom. As I paid more attention, I found many more in the park. It is quite common here. The Poinsettas grow like crazy with little care. Just so amazing to me, I could never keep one alive at home. At least one that had leaves….lol…
The weather here has not been the best. It has been raining a lot. The temperature has dropped to the 40s at nite with highs only in the high 50s and 60s. Today ended up a beautiful day and the sun was out and it hit 70…Everyone was out walking or socializing and cooking on the grills…You could just smell the grills cooking up the steaks and pork chops ….Mmmmmmmm…..but sadly tomorrow the temp is dropping. At noon a cold front will be coming in and the temp will drop till in the 30s. Two days of cold and rain….Yuck, but still better than home. I keep up with the weather and travel reports on FB. Illinois is NOT a good place to be right now. We were watching tv when they showed I 80 with chain reaction accidents with all the snow this morning. It was shut down. I said…Rich aren’t you glad your not driving in that anymore?….So I have no right to complain do I….lol….They say several weeks of this and it will start getting better again.
Craft class has started today. The lady that was going to do it wasn’t able to make it this year, so my neighbor Lauribeth is conducting them. Today we got together and shared ideas. I brought my mosaic bricks and that will be the first project. They are all excited to be doing something different. So in the next several days I will be going to Home Depot and buying the bricks to begin . Our first class will be a week from Thur. So many things to do all the time.
Here is Kitty, sleeping on the mouse that Cassidy put in the camper with the note on it the day we left…..I don’t know what that means…Does he Miss the smells of home as this was in the spare bedroom? or was it just a soft pillow. Kitty is doing so good. He is much more active and playful. He demands attention in the evening. If you don’t pet him he paws at you. His dark brown overstuffed footstool sits next to Rich. He expects it to stay their. He sits their and Rich pets him in the evenings. He is so much more social now. Lauribeth has a beautiful 19 year old pure white Angora. Her cat sleeps in the dash and likes to look out the window. We have tried to get the cats to look at each other, from our windows, but to no avail……….They just don’t care…….We are going to take them both outside one day so they can really meet. We’ll see what happens then. I think they are both just old independent grumpy cats……lol….
5 Days into the New Year…..Our Park is Almost Full…. These are our names tags that we wear.......Impressive aren't they.....Hahaha..... Since right after Christmas, it seems the RVs just keep coming in.
