your thoughts on: Martin sees Malcolm as much more of a fitting spouse and partner now that Malcolm has proven he can protect their family?

OKAY so i haven't been online because #depression but i got your asks and had to jump on BECAUSE I KNOOOOOOW martin and malcolm are so unhinged i'm obsessed with them.

as to your query, i think martin has a LOT of pride for malcolm when he learns what malcolm's done to help ainsley, and in the fact that malcolm came to him for help. i hadn't thought of it the way you framed it, but i think that is SO INTERESTING because yeah, i could definitely see martin seeing malcolm more in this light after season 1. like, malcolm has now proven to martin he can do the dirty work, he can even take pleasure in it, and while malcolm didn't kill the dude whose name i can't think of now because i am #depression-brained/tired, he still showed a vicious willingness to do what it takes to protect his family. and while martin didn't protect his family, really, i think he probably feels as if he did.

we get that flashback to him telling jessica that he killed others because he had needs, with the suggestion being she's lucky he didn't take it out on the family, and so i do think he'd frame it in his mind as him protecting them. and if that's the vision he has for himself, then i think he wouldn't definitely be deeply attracted to malcolm doing something similar.
