Relationship headcanons: Egg Valden
@whispering-brushes
Send ✵ and my muse will answer the following.
Their first impression of your muse:
It KILLS me to say this because she's the most authentic of the system, but I don't think Lisa will get along with Edgar super well. It seems like he has so many trust issues that she wouldn't be able to get close to him--especially now being a hunter. I do however think he'd have a better chance of getting along with Lisa than Emma because she comes on waaay too strong. I mean she could be more patient with the bluntness and the walls he got up, but I get the feeling he's not gonna like her back. Annecy might get along REALLY well with him actually. I think they've got a lot in common and they'd vibe together well. Seems like both your muses are doing well in his corner.
Current impression:
They have never met before! So that is their current impressions of him.
Are they attracted to your muse?:
I think aesthetically the three of them find Edgar attractive, but I don't think they'd be into him in any sort of way because he matches 0 of their types romantically.
Something they find frightening about your muse:
I feel like Lisa would be intimidated by his anger. He seems cranky a lot and she'd probably want to avoid being around him when he's upset (or even coming off upset in her opinion). Emma? Mm... I don't know. I thought about this a long time and I couldn't think of anything. Maybe we'll find something, who knows. Annecy also gets the vibe Edgar has done something bad. He's not afraid of it per say, but wary would be a better word. Also the texture of paint when it dries is the worst thing and he won't ever touch Edgar if he has paint on him.
Something they find adorable about your muse:
They all think his art is really pretty. They just can't stop themselves from looking whenever they see it :) ( I had to )
Would my muse sacrifice themselves for yours?:
Lisa? No. Emma? Maybe. Annecy? Probably no.
Would my muse go on a date with yours? platonic/romantic:
Lisa is always open to a platonic date, but whether it would GO well or not is another story entirely. Same with Emma. I feel like he'd walk out on a date with her. Annecy would go on a platonic date with him. Now that I think about it though Edgar may not like how left-brained he is. It seems like Edgar is much more right-brained, but then again maybe that's how they'd mesh.
One word my muse would use to describe yours:
Lisa: "Distant" Emma: "Cranky" Annecy: "Artist" (I know, it's deep right)
Would my muse slap yours if they could?:
None of them would slap him.... well maybe Emma would, it's gonna heavily depend on how he treats Lisa when she fronts. Not out of hate though, just to teach him a lesson.
Would my muse hug/kiss yours?:
Lisa? No. Emma? Maybe. Annecy? And get paint on him?? No.

Frederick doesn't know what to think of Edgar Valden. Sometimes, looking at the man feels like staring across a mirror at himself. ...Despite what people think, Frederick isn't entirely oblivious to the way he can come across - and the arrogant detachment people see in him can be seen just as vividly in Edgar, at least upon the surface.
Of course, where Frederick has music, Edgar has his art. And very much unlike Frederick, Edgar actually possesses a modicum of talent when it comes to creation, something Frederick finds himself envious of despite his best efforts. But... all he can see in the end is what's presented on the surface. He knows that, but that doesn't make it any less difficult to avoid letting his own perceptions influence him...
Right now, though, something about Edgar seems slightly different than usual. It's enough to catch Frederick's attention - or perhaps paranoia would be a better word - and Frederick finds himself speaking even though he might regret it later.
"You look... troubled, Mr. Valden. Is something not to your liking?"

"I know I paint portraits in matches, but truthfully, they are my least favorite subject. If I want to paint for someone, I would rather make something that truly matters. Any treasured items of yours? Maybe a favorite flower?"
Oooh I get to pick?? How fun!
I LOVE sunflowers~ but daisies are a second favorite of mine <3
Caaaan I watch?

"Hmm. And you would say you're different, then?"
Frederick knows well of what Edgar speaks. Very rarely do people look under the surface of how a person presents themselves and see what lies underneath. But... to Frederick, that fact is both a source of grief and a shield to protect himself with. Sometimes, he hates how people look at him - being so easily fooled by his charming smiles and honeyed words, but those things are perhaps exactly what allow him to live in the world at all.
At those times, he's grateful for it. Though deep down he feels ashamed of the way he's unable to give up the praise and flattery of others, his persona allows him to pretend that he's someone else for a little while, and hides the parts of him he doesn't want others to see. The thought of someone looking past his outer layers and seeing what he's hidden leaves him feeling exposed, raw and ill with unease, and it's that feeling that he hates more than anything else.
So maybe the way that people don't look deeper is, in the end, something that he's glad for in a way. Yet... it's tiring. And somehow, Frederick finds he can sympathize with Edgar's expression of distaste, even in even if it might be hypocritical.
"...I've heard many things about you. You've quite the reputation." Frederick's sure that should come as no surprise. "I wonder if they know who they're really talking to, though..."
For Edgar's part, he, too, knows how he comes across: if anything, it is something he puts effort into, a suit of armor, a moat and drawbridge to prevent entry into the palace of the mind. (Though, he'd hardly put such value upon his own thoughts...) The reflection is uncomfortable, especially as he does not know the origin, what Frederick detaches from.
Assumptions slip in unnoticed, even as Edgar wishes anything but, wants to see things as they are, rather than what they "should" be. For example, Edgar can see the composer's posture, the way the fabric of his coat is made of a similarly fine material as the painter's own outfit, the hardened gaze.
Edgar would not admit such a thing, especially not to the one who catalyzed such feelings within him, but the similarity is exactly why Edgar keeps his arms crossed tight in front of him, keeps his eyes locked on Frederick, as if missing the next move could lead to disaster.
Then, the composer's voice strikes his ears, and he bites his tongue. He's sure the question is a trap, a way to expose himself. He knows quite well how to speak in the language that has stained him for so long. Then again, if he does not bother with such formalities, he could cut deeper into... he is not sure. "You could say that. Too many people, not enough seeing past the most surface levels." For all he loved the world, the people within it exhausted Edgar, made those voices within the paintings just a little louder. And for all he spoke, he did not mention that people did not wish to see him past the surface. After all, why would he, when the parts within were so soft, so vulnerable?
#ic#whisperingbrushes#v. mainverse.#c. frederick.#yessssssssssssssssss 100% agreed tbh!!!#i think they're both so good......... i'm super excited to see where their interactions go tbh >:)#frederick dancing around the conversation instead of saying things straightforwardly makes me laugh though like.#he really does not trust anyone; huh!
