Tobirama's a bigot but the fandom tends to whitewash Hashirama way too much. He was the one to have the idea of turning humans into weapons of mass destruction. He was the one to promote Tobirama as his second-in-command and heir, knowing and approving his policies against a minority. Etc.

he was kinda a crappy kage and people dont admit that enough, but he was only a bad at his job because he was a fucking idiot, not because he was militaristic/bigoted like his brother. he does have a genuinely caring and earnest personality.

for example, he hates the idea of children fighting in wars. the Entire Point of konoha existing was so children dont have to become soldiers. but like an idiot, he appoints his brother as hokage instead of madara. and its only because tobirama pestered him into it he's incapable of putting his foot down when it comes to tobirams. and like, obviously a bitch like tobirama is gonna take advantage of civilians and kids like that. hes too cold and pragmatic not to. no matter how many times you tell tobirama to be nice to the uchiha the man just aint gonna listen. you literally grew up with him you should know this. and then hashirama only ever seems to lightly scold tobirama when he gets out of line... and im just saying if you wanna make a good, peaceful village then you cant pull shit like this

also, he only made jinchuriki in the first place to protect people from the tailed beasts. like, you cant just have a whole fox demon stomping around your village, you gotta put it somewhere. but like, they were still inevitably used for their power which sucked. but then he wanted to distribute the beasts as an attempt to end the first shinobi war. he was genuinely trying to foster world peace! but, because hes a fucking doornob, he seemed to fail to realize how much of a terrible idea that would be for jinchuriki in the long run AND on top of that, tobirama had to butt in and piss off all the other nations during the summit anyways so it didnt even matter if it wouldve attained peace or not.
