#was checking out hades game tag then ended up checking out a greek myth art blog#i was like 'so many character design of obscure characters! this is quite similar to scrolling down a silmarillion/tolkien art blog'#i was like 'this is like a si//lmarillion art blog except no elves cause it's greek'#'and also some of these people might be real and some of these gods are still being worshipped by people irl'#and then i saw with mine two eyeballs. an art of achilles (and patroclus) that depicts achilles with slightly pointed ears#the image has haunted my brain ever since. it's never gonna leave my mind#the weird thing is i kinda like that art even though it doesn't work for very obvious reasons sadfjklsadf#yeah yeah nereids&nymphs and faery/elves of Scandinavian/nordic mytho origins are two Different People#just because they are all nature spirits and bear many similarities to one another doesn't mean their characteristics are interchangeable#AND there are no male nymphs. just because achilles is said to be the son of a sea-nymph doesnt mean he is anything BUT a mortal man#so like obviously it doesn't work but i can't stop thinking about that art asdjfksdaf#it was pretty good and if it had been a tolkien fanart i would have definitely reblogged it but well it fucking wasn't sajdfksdf#i don't want to sound like im making fun of the op of that art though! it was a good painting! but like. the pointed ear achilles....God.#some sort of Glorfindel looking motherfucker im hollering#their patroclus looks like one of my favourite fan design of fingon. cool braids and everything#which reminds me. that i once reblogged an art of fingon healing maedhros and drawn in the pose and style of that vase painting#where achilles bandages patroclus. that was the closest thing to a r*ssing*on fanart that i reblogged#i did that like a year or so before reading tsoa but i had common sense i knew what they were paralleling maedhros and fingon to#still. i just. idk man. i have complicated feelings abt maedhros and fingon being a romantic ship.#and now im thinking abt it and im thinking abt how troy (2004) makes achilles and patroclus cousins [skull emoji]. fucking cursed#also if you gonna do this parallel maedhros is more like achilles actually. i said what i said.#mae overshares#not very related but the art blog that reblogged that art (oh yeah the pointy ear achilles art wasn't even theirs lol)#it has 'HCU stands for Homer Cinematic Universe' on its blog description and it has got me laughing every time i think abt it#this tumblr user is so funny and for what. they deserve financial reward for being this funny
