(ch. 13/100 review) — omg the family feels cass… you did not have to do it but you actually totally did. poor mafalda getting all the pressure, i would’ve kms if i was her (me at the slightest inconvenience tbh) and i am an absolute sucker for sirius, he’s kind of so perfect? i love it when he lets harry in on the meetings bc it’s so important that he has a general idea of what’s going on — the issue will always directly relate to him and not knowing things will definitely just cause more chaos so ty for being smart siri !!! also harry just completely ignoring sirius and grabbing a fist full of floo powder? my guy, have you no prior survival instincts? (like ik you’ve got crazy survival instincts but also they’re kind of shit bc why are you putting yourself in that position????) but he gets a pass bc he easily sassed and soloed mr barty crouch jr (nice to know that riddle ranks very high in “opponents that make harry shit his pants”) and cast a patronus, huzzah ! i think it’s hilarious how andromeda clocked bella and harry wanted to know NOTHING about it, like yes, i will mind my business this one time but only bc i find it revolting and i need peace of mind. but yeah, dad!sirius scolding harry and then relenting bc his godson didn’t want to lose him is so cute, they’re family your honour. this whole time i was thinking about poor ruby being left alone like damn, at least she had heph by her side, can’t trust these unloyal bitches (her dream better be the furthest thing from happening or i will riot). i love the little kitchen scene sm pls don’t separate my lovelies, they deserve each other. and the astronomy tower scene with albus and tom… ☹️ that’s (grand)father and son, tom not being annoyed by his presence, him not minding dumbledore possibly reading his mind… THE “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOM”??? Harry's 'survival instincts' -- not so great at avoiding Situations, great at surviving the Situations. Re: Barty Crouch and Patronuses I thought he deserved a win for once (or two, the Patronus was planned, Barty Crouch was for fun). Plus Harry loves not minding his business but even he has limits (sometimes).

Sirius can only be angry at Harry for two minutes max XD

Ruby however... she's still mad (she's always a little angry tbh).

Sirius is not super super safe (I'm sorryyyyyy) but honestly I don't think I have the heart to kill him off so it's kind of an empty threat.

Tom's character development is paying off after everything the plot (I) put him through. Like getting blood out of a stone but we did it! This is what they could have been though, I think the whole Albus and Tom dynamic in canon is really interesting but tragic but anyway...

Also only Tom is pigheaded enough to respond to an obvious metaphor with 'um ackshually Kepler's laws' and force Dumbledore's hand like that.

I actually had a note in my outline for this chapter saying 'Needs to end with Dumbledore saying Happy Birthday to Tom. That’s non-negotiable'

8: Favorite Steddie Headcanon you've read or written?

Oh!! At first I was going to say I don't know, but then remembered this post by @inklessletter (which I did also write fic of), where Eddie in Season 4 is flirting, but less out of an active crush on Steve, and more because "well I'm gonna die anyway might as well go out with a bang." As much as I enjoy various incarnations of Eddie having had a crush on/been in love with Steve since pre-s4, that is very much how I tend to hc Eddie in particular.

9: Do you imagine they would have been childhood friends?

I have enjoyed every single childhood friends AU I have read, and love friends to lover as a trope wholeheartedly. But where their canon characters are concerned? Ehhhh. I've really enjoyed canon compliant fics where they have a singular chance encounter as kids that sticks with the each of them for years (bonus points if one or both doesn't actually realize who it was). But beyond that I think childhood Steve and childhood Eddie would have too much working against them to really form a connection. I think even where they're both at in season 4 requires a good amount of Eddie stretching and Steve bending for them to reach an equilibrium that works. One of the things I actually find appealing about Steddie as a ship (in a canon context) is that it feels like a relationship that would work only because of how Steve has grown and developed as a character over the course of the show.

11: Which one would confess their attraction/love first? Why?

I flop back and forth on who I think it would make "more sense" to confess! I think Steve is more willing to risk immediate rejection than Eddie is, but that Eddie is more secure in their...potential? I think that Steve might be willing to confess his attraction, but would potentially hold himself back from confessing genuine feelings because while he could stomach an immediate rejection, he doesn't want to subject himself to a slowburn heartbreak again. Conversely, I think the popular hc that Eddie would be afraid of an immediate and somewhat vehement rejection is pretty spot on, but the second he realizes Steve returns the feelings he's 110% on board and ready to dive in. Ultimately I think it comes down to 1) whether or not one of them comes out to the other, independent of confessing their feelings and 2) how obvious Eddie is being in his flirting. I think if they get to a point where they're friends, and Eddie comes out, and is obviously flirting with Steve but in a way that Steve can accurately pinpoint as romantic flirting and not just sexual tension, I think Steve probably musters the courage to confess first. If Steve comes out to Eddie first, I think Eddie confesses on the spot. And then there's just a whole lot of other combinations of ways that could play out, obviously. There's also the fun definitely-not-going-to-end-badly scenario where they fall into bed together and both think it's just about sex for the other person, and in that situation it is truly a toss-up on who confesses first, but personally I like it to be Eddie, (largely bc we just have more canon evidence of all of Steve's specific baggage). (also all of that is assuming Steve already knows he's queer, which is my preferred way of writing Steddie <3) ...that one got away from me, oops.

This is why she’d risk her life for you, she’d do it in an instant. How she shows her love is more physical, of course she will tell you how much she loves you but her words are very straight forward. (It’s a bit funny at times, especially when she says things that are really sweet). Regardless, she loves to cuddle (very big cuddle bug) especially in bed. All she really wants after she comes home from a mission or spending along day training is to get into bed with you and wrap her arms around you. Gently kisses are an absolute must with her! Basically she’s your very sweet, very loving teddy bear who wants nothing more than to keep you safe! Thoroughly enjoys reading with you and watching movies, she definitely gets you to explain to her what you are learning about in school. Supports your academics like no other! Truly a wonderful girlfriend!

 Mitsuri Kanroji: Coming in at a very close 45% I found you most compatible with Mitsuri Kanroji. The two of share a lot in common, very bubbly personalities (although sometimes you need to recharge/ I personally understand the feeling), very kind hearts, determination, and affection! Mitsuri is literally your biggest cheerleader, she loves nothing more than to support you 100%. She is so proud of you all of the time, you could quite literally be sitting in bed thumbing through a magazine and she would worship the ground you walked on. (Stares at you lovingly while she is watching you thinking of how absolutely amazing you while you are literally reading). You started watching a new show? Well it must be good because of your superior taste! Atleast this is how Mitsuri thinks of everything that you do, even if you make a mistake. Surprisingly she is very shy when initiating her physical affection, she will say the most wonderful things about you for hours on end but some how a simple hug can be too hard for her to ask for. Which for her, she’s in luck! You love to show your love in every language, therefore it’s almost never a problem for you to scoop her up and spin her around. Yet somehow, I don’t even know how this is possible, but she loves you even more just because you are so open with your affection! Mitsuri loves you with all her heart and don’t you ever forget it!

Just saw "Gravity," and my thoughts:

Tuvok is so beautiful I'm going insane

I thought this plot was gonna go SO BADLY and I'm relieved I was wrong. I've mentioned before that I don't read many fics about Tuvok bc a lot of them are very shippy, and he's very dedicated to T'Pel to the point that it feels disingenuous to his character to ship him off with someone else. So you can imagine my distress when Noss developed feelings for him!! But yeah no Tuvok is so ridiculously married he is just Immune so cool

Overall a really good exploration of Tuvok specificaly and Vulcan emotions in general. I talked earlier about Vulcan emotion (and how I feel Neelix's obsession with making Tuvok smile is quite disrespectful), and this episode highlighted something I think is important to that: Vulcans have very, VERY strong emotions, strong to point of danger and pain. They feel things VERY intensely, and they generally don't want to do that, which is why they do all that emotional suppression. Everyone else seems to act like they just never feel emotion (as Tom put it, they think that under the cold Vulcan exterior is an even colder interior), but that's simply not the case. They feel emotions naturally at a level they don't want, and work very hard to bring that intensity down to a level that works for them. To deny that and expect a Vulcan to express their emotions the way everyone else does, or to develop the emotions you want them to develop, is (in my view) very disrespectful, and cruel. So I'm glad that the episode made space for Tuvok to point that out…that he DOES feel emotion, actually, and he has felt love quite acutely, and it almost destroyed him, and it made him literally feel insane, and he doesn't want that to happen again no thanks. And again, this man is So Married, and expecting him to reciprocate Noss's feelings for him is just...life doesn't work that way and you can't expect him to do that

I wonder what Tuvok showed Noss in the meld before she left. Personally I think he showed her his feelings of respect and admiration for her, and (if not wholly, in part) both those memories of his struggles with emotions of love and the strength of his bond with T'Pel. I think those things in combination would make everything make that sort of sense
