one thing i'm fudging the numbers on a bit w/ christine's history is that umbrella's chicago headquarters was for their american subsidiary which was a holding company overseeing the activities of umbrella's american laboratories (most of which are located in raccoon city), not a building in which any science was actually done . so i'm flubbing the canon here to state that their front as a pharmaceutical company & the majority of their development on their drug line was done by chicago based researchers unrelated to their bioweapons development program hidden in raccoon city, mostly cause i believe umbrella's higher ups are stupid enough to employ an unnecessary amount of cloak & dagger & have people on their payroll who just think they're a pharmaceutical company with no cruise liner subsidiary, prison camp & fascist dictatorship located on a small island where umbrella was doing qanon but real

RE6 was a shitshow, but I enjoyed Ada's route, and I'm only now realizing at almost 5AM what that means for her going into RE9.
Ada Wong is dead.
For those who don't know because they've only seen/played the remakes, Ada Wong was never this woman's real name. It was an alias she put on as early as the 1998 Raccoon City assignment/incident. We see in an end game panel of the original RE3 an image of her standing in front of a mirror hugging herself saying the woman she used to be is gone now and that she died in Raccoon City.
I use this panel for my interpretation of her that she decided going forward to wear the persona she crafted as Ada Wong like a coat. It's her shield against the world and it's horrors as she helps perpetuate them by continuing her mercenary and spywork underneath the alias.
Ada Wong is untouchable. She doesn't get attached. She plays things fast and loose, and people are only allowed as close as she wants them to be which is not very. You only ever hear about Ada Wong. You only get this surface level understanding of who she is because that's all the alias is. A coat. You see how red the fabric is, but you don't know the year it's made, the fabric it's made of, or how well it keeps out the cold. All you can see is the style and color and nothing else. Not even a dip into it's pockets.
Ada Wong wasn't in Degeneration to see the harm caused by the G-Virus. She wasn't in RE5 to deal with the plaga she helped get out. In fact, the first time we see her deal with the consequence of that action is 5 years later in Damnation where her interaction with the bioweapons is still extremely minimal. The second time we see her deal with these consequences is the aftermath of Simmons getting a little too attached to who Ada Wong is supposed to be in RE6.
Carla keeps saying she's Ada Wong, and she's right. Ada Wong is mysterious and untouchable. She doesn't get attached. She plays things fast and loose, and people are only allowed as close as she wants them to be which Simmons adjusted for his own personal desires. Most importantly, Ada Wong kills indiscriminately with her actions to achieve her goals. We see how she keeps letting these viruses get into the hands of the worst people for a paycheck. Chris' team being killed by Carla is the close up. It's taking the mask off. It's removing the distance the audience gives Ada when she finishes these jobs and putting us where we should be. Angry. Confused. Horrified.
And it worked because everyone was pissed and calling it character assassination, but it wasn't. People just weren't prepared to see it happen to Chris Redfield, but the truth was Chris' team members were just people like all the other victims of bioweapons our Ada helped get out there. They weren't an exception.
Carla is Ada Wong, and our Ada has to face the reflection of the mask she's been wearing like a second skin for over a decade. I've commented in an earlier post that I thought it was strange to rope our Ada into this sort of vigilante role where she saves Sherry and looks out for others a tiny bit while moving forward in the story. However, it's not strange. Her whole route is probably the closest glimpse we see into who she really is separated from Leon. It's familiar, but different because we're still not getting answers, but we're seeing how she acts independently when fighting for herself. And at the end of it all Ada Wong dies.
Carla is shot and falls from that deadly height wherein it's reported to everyone that Ada Wong is dead. When Carla mutates inside that boat with mockery and sureness sprouting from her loud mouth about who Ada Wong is, our Ada kills her. She destroys the mask that's become so ugly and horrific from all these years of turning a blind eye to her own actions and to herself.
She kills Simmons, the person who made the mirror, and she destroys the vestiges of whatever it is Carla made in that lab while wearing the face and persona of Ada Wong. This is our Ada being forced to clean up the mess she made even if it wasn't her pulling all the strings, because it was a facet of her. An idea of her. Her idea of her that she crafted back in fucking 1998 and could never separate herself from. Until now. And it's angry and cathartic and left to blaze into ash until she's finally able to step away from it all.
This doesn't erase anything she's done. It never will, but she doesn't have to be Ada Wong anymore because Ada Wong Is Dead.
I just desperately need her in RE9. I need someone to call out to her. I want them to call her Ada and for her to reply "That's not my name. It never was." And because Capcom still won't separate the two, I think it'd be interesting for that tidbit to get to Leon. I want that line to hit him like a train. I want Ada's delivery to tell him, "You never knew me. You never even tried to find out."

hey it’s your re gift exchange gifter! if you don’t mind, would you be able to give a couple facts about each of your ships? it doesn’t have to be anything too detailed, just enough to make a couple little things
Hi! I don't mind at all! Sorry, I know they're rather new, so there isn't much content for some of them on my blog yet. I hope this helps! Its under the cut because I did give a bit more than I originally intended, but I'm hoping this gives you a better idea about their dynamics!
Wren x Leon: the story of these two actually starts in Raccoon City. Wren's father was a police officer there and him being forced into retirement due to medical reasons was why Leon was hired on there. Wren and Leon start off on the wrong foot by literally meeting each other at gun point. mostly thanks to Wren's trust issues, but throughout the night they learn to lean on and trust each other. And while they went through something truly traumatic simultaneously, they bonded over that and they kinda formed a soft spot for each other. They have this thing with pinky promises that started off as super sarcastic and turned into something more significant. Wren and Leon do sleep together after that night in Raccoon City to kinda work through what they experienced and of course because there are feelings there they can't quite explain or talk about just yet. But they get separated when the government recruits Leon and Wren deals with her own fallout of that night too, which does lead to her being in the government's grasp as well. She just works with Chris often. They reunite during the events of Resident Evil 4 due to Wren being there for Luis and Ainsley (another oc of mine). The thing about Wren and Leon is that they're very...attached. They couldn't help but choose each other in a situation that would call for them to choose to save each other or someone else because they're each other's weak spot. Mostly just partners in crime that work together more often after reuniting. They do end up having kids down the road too. Wren and Leon also tease the hell out of each other and they can't get enough of each other, the revolve around each other whether they mean to or not. They heal each other and they offer each other some sort of safe haven, regardless of how bad it gets. They're one of my favorites ngl.
Ainsley x Carlos: Ainsley is actually a descendent of Old Man Spencer himself, so of course she got swept up in working for the "family business" as a doctor/scientist. Ainsley worked on a lot of things for Umbrella, including Mr. X and mostly importantly: Nemesis. Ainsley has a lot of guilt for it and she had a change of heart about her work towards the end, but it was far too late for her to really change anything. Ainsley barely got out of the city in time before the nuke went off, and she did her best to make somewhat of a difference for anyone that was left, but again, it was mostly futile. Ainsley officially meets Carlos (because I believe there was a brief run in or something along those lines in RE3) after Wren and the others finally get their hands on her, and Wren recruits Carlos to work with her. The thing about this ship specifically is that they're both riddled with guilt for doing what they did for Umbrella, Ainsley with her own scientific career, and Carlos being a paid mercenary to clean up the mess they made. Its very tense between them at first because I'm sure you can imagine Carlos isn't exactly thrilled to put a face to someone who had helped create the viruses. Nobody can hate Ainsley as much as she hates herself, however, and sensing that, Carlos does try to help ease it in a way. Ainsley is very posh and a bit...proper. So its quite easy for Carlos to get under her skin and ruffle her feathers with his sense of humor...which he does often. They also heal each other and grow past their mistakes and help each other in the process of that.
Alex x Claire: how Alex managed this without Chris killing her, I'm not sure, but she does. Alex is a former STARS member, but she was in Europe with Chris when everything went down in RC. It was definitely Alex that was excited to see all the pretty girls Chris mentioned in his letter to Jill that's found at the police station by Leon. Alex doesn't really know Claire until she's reunited with her brother, and Alex started crushing pretty hard. At first, she just kinda asks around "subtly" to see if Jill or Wren, or anyone else, has information on this gorgeous woman she's become enamored with, who, delightfully, flirts back with her when they run into each other. Alex can sometimes come across as a frat boy with boobs, but she's good natured. She genuinely does want to get to know Claire, and she does, but she also saves her ass a couple of times too. In one instance, Alex tells her that she's gotta let Alex take her out on a date if they get out alive, which of course they do, and Alex cashes in almost immediately. Apparently Claire found Alex very charming, because they've been together since then.
Imogen x Chris: now these guys are fun. They're my enemies to lovers ship. Imogen is a shareholder and board member of Umbrella who also has a science degree--she fully believes in being knowledgeable about the things she invests in. She's one of the people Chris was investigating in Europe during the Raccoon City incident, and she's also the one that decided the plug needed to be pulled on the experiments there and deemed a lost cause. Imogen isn't interested in anything that will cost her money, and of course, when Umbrella tanks hard and pretty much dissolves after things get out, she isn't a very happy person. Imogen kinda scrambles to find a foothold in other pharmacutical companies or to establish some holding company in which she will have some freedom to use the viruses and formulas to her advantage so that she can achieve success again, Imogen doesn't like her money being fucked with. But she has people that are trying to kill her Wesker and that leads to her foolishly slipping and sleeping with Ada, which does almost get her killed. Almost. Luckily, or unluckily depending on how you look at it, Chris Redfield actually saves her ass. With strong disdain. Imogen had a very strong talent of turning to smoke whenever someone who was hunting her down got too close, which is why it took years for Chris to get to her--until she fucked up. So Chris saves her with the full intention of taking her into custody and he succeeds. Overall, she doesn't have many options in front of her but ultimately it was either help them or go to prison her whole life, because one of the things Imogen hoards greedily is information. And she is very very smart. Imogen and Chris reluctantly work together on different things, and eventually Imogen does get a front row seat of the things she's caused, and her own backstory trauma comes to the surface. So Imogen does grow and Chris is kinda there through the process, and its ultimately his understanding and eventual forgiveness that kinda...saves her a bit. She's still a cold bitch with a heart that grew a size or two, but she does put in more effort for the cause--so much so that she's actually a part of Blue Umbrella. Chris and Imogen have a very rocky road in terms of their relationship, and it mostly starts with kinda...having hate sex to be honest. But it gets healthier as Imogen grows to be a better person and Chris sees that and opens up to her a bit more.

Idea for a “Resident Evil” game:
Not quite “Resident Evil 9″ but a main series title that focuses on characters that haven’t been seen for a while. Just like the sixth game, there are multiple campaigns, each one somewhat related to each other. The campaigns are:
1) Billy Coen: Takes place during the events of RE2 and RE3. While trying to escape Raccoon City, Billy learns about the crime syndicate known as the Connections (Mia Winters’ group). After escaping the city, Billy becomes a Punisher-like vigilante, focused on dismantling the Connections organization (this is the explanation for what he’s been doing since RE0).
2) Carlos Oliveira: Takes place during the events of RE7. Carlos has joined the BSAA and Blue Umbrella, alongside Jill Valentine. While Chris is dealing with the Dulvey incident, Carlos is sent to Southeast Asia to respond to another outbreak of the mold.
3) Sheva Alomar: Takes place during and after the events of RE6. Sheva and her partner, Josh Stone, are sent out to respond to another outbreak in the city of Kijuju. Initially expecting the outbreak to be Las Plagas, they learn that the cause of this outbreak is the Mold.
4) Jake Muller: Takes place during the events of RE8. Jake reunites with Sherry Birkin, who tells him that she needs his help in going after an organization known as the Connections. Jake agrees to help. However, his trust in Sherry is shaken when he learns that she’s working with Blue Umbrella, an organization that he’s wary of.
After completing all four campaigns, you unlock the final mission, which is a culmination of the entire story. The main protagonist for the final mission is Jill Valentine, who has been cleared for field duty. Keeping with the events of RE5, Jill is still blonde, although her natural hair is slowly coming back.
Since all four campaigns are centered on the Connections, Jill’s mission has her come face-to-face with the leader of the organization (our new Big Bad of the series, taking over Albert Wesker’s role). We also learn that the Connections have been in the background for all the main games.
Then, just like in RE2, we get an epilogue mission featuring Agent HUNK (now a freelance mercenary). In HUNK’s mission, he storms a Connections hideout to collect an important item that they bought from Albert Wesker. We learn that the item in question is Steve Burnside’s corpse, which is somehow regenerating due to the T-Veronica virus. That’s our final twist of the game, a follow-up to the plot points of Code Veronica.

Resident Evil 8 was good. Damn good. The game exceeded my expectations.
The biggest problem I had with Re7 was that its pretty forgettable overall, but Village knocks that out of the park and gives you an experience that’ll blow your socks off.
Gameplay wise its a mix of action and survival gameplay. The gunplay has improved with more weapons and upgrades that felt like it came straight out of Re4 which is good. I’ll be honest the game isn’t that scary, but there is one part that had me in a cold sweat. If you played the game then you already know what I’m talking about.
The environments were fantastic with some of the best atmosphere in the series (Re1 Remake still is the best in this regards). Like fuck this is a gorgeous game.
The story is really good, fun and at times really dumb. At one point it reaches Re6 levels of stupid, but after that dumb shit the coolest part of the game happens so I can’t complain.
As for what happens in the story I won’t spoil, but I’ll say that if your expecting Lady D to be in the game the entire time then you’ll be disappointed. She’s only in the first quarter of the game, but boy howdy does she make a lasting impression.
The ending is total bananas. Again won’t spoil, but it pretty much confirms that Re9 will have another new playable character again instead of a returning one. Which kinda sucks, but hopefully we can still see returning characters like Jill return in a supporting role. The ending does set up more story threads that obviously sets up more games, sequels or dlc so thats cool.
There is one part of the game that drags a bit and its the factory. It kinda just goes on for too long and its a jarring change from the rest of the game. One second your playing in a gothic village and castle and now your playing a Wolfenstein game. I wouldn’t say its bad, but its the weakest part of the game.
Overall its a damn good game. I plan on starting a new playthrough on ng+ and doing mercenaries. The Resident Evil series has been nothing but bangers in the last few years. Even Re3 Remake being underwhelming was still good solid game.

What headcanons do you have for Nicholai, Jill and Valenvaef?
I looooove this question, anon, and I apologize in advance because I’m gonna get carried away. It’s not like I’m super obsessed with these two or anything, not at ALL.
Anyway, these headcanons are mostly linked to my fic series like oil and water. Which means they are things I usually have on the back of my mind when writing the characters for that particular universe; I find it easier that way than just thinking about headcanons in general. That being said, some of them are just silly details. Others hold more importance for their development.
Tumblr media
Jill:
→ She has a strained relationship with her parents because of her decision to join the military. Jill was also a bit of trouble in her teenage years (as it’s suggested in her email to Barry from Rev 2). Her parents didn’t want her to enlist in the Delta Force special training program, but she did against their wishes and they had a falling out after that. I picture the argument was quite heavy worded, to put it mildly. However, she kept in contact with them from time to time, and after the mansion incident she asked them to take care of her dog (I refuse to believe that good boy died in Raccoon City). She never told them what had happened, but after Raccoon City she kind of had to come clean with them because it was all over the news. They resumed the relationship, trying to keep in contact more often, but they’re just not that close anymore sadly. She stays in touch with other family members from Japan and France, but she considers the remaining STARS her true family (that is, Chris, Barry and Rebecca, even if we have been robbed of any interaction between Jill and Rebecca in canon).
→ She likes wearing miniskirts and tubetops. (I love her original RE3 outfit, and I can totally see her wearing that in her daily life, I just don’t think it ever made sense she went out to a city full of zombies wearing that, tbh.)
→ About Rebecca: I’d like to think Jill tried to take care of her when Rebecca arrived in Raccoon City and be there for her, like a sort of big sister figure. From her experience, she knows what it’s like to be the “only” woman around and never wanted her to feel alone in that regard.
Nicholai:
→ His patronymic is Ivanovich (keeping with the famous tsars). And his father was kind of a bastard. It’s not very original, I know, but shitty people usually have shitty parents, and big daddy/mommy issues. I’ve never seen him as the kind that has a super tragic past, or that said past haunts him in some way. More like shaped him into being a total, cold-hearted asshole and he doesn’t really care. For me, his past is something similar to Fisk from Daredevil (TV show), if you want to get a general idea of where he’s coming from.
→ His grandma was a sniper back in WWII.
→ He was conscripted into the military at age 18, where he discovered that being a soldier, surviving and killing was kind of the only good thing he was good at. And he was scaringly good at it, yep. But he was never in it for ideals, so that’s why becoming a mercenary suited him after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Valenvaef:
→ Let’s get this out: they’re very horny for each other and at first they only know how to interact through violence or sex, no middle ground.
→ At some point, they’ll start sparring together from time to time. They literally beat each other, no restraints.
→ Once they start spending the night together (as in, he stays to sleep in her apartment when they meet), Nicholai is the big spoon. He’s just really big.
→ He has never been in love or really cared for anyone beyond himself… though that’s certainly going to change thanks to a certain master of unlocking. He’s the first to fall hard between the two, and it shows even he doesn’t acknowledge it; but Jill notices it, and she comes to realise the power she has over him, whether she wants it or not. On the other hand, Jill feels very conflicted about the whole thing, because at first she was simply in it to indulge herself in a guilty pleasure, but she starts finding him more and more intriguing.
→ In Raccoon City, he really despised her and just regarded her as a nuisance, but ended up respecting her tenacity and survival skills. Jill just couldn’t believe how much of a dirtbag he was all the way to the end. The fact that Jill was never intimidated by him or scared in the slightlest is what piqued his curiosity initially.
→ He calls her Miss Valentine, never Jill. It started in a mocking, dismissive way; now not so much. But it’s his way to distance himself emotionally (and remain in DENIAL).

Hell yes, tell us abt Mikhail. I bet you have a lot to say!
Tumblr media
Short answer:
Tumblr media
Long answer:
Okay so I will get real with all you guys on this one. I’ll start with a bit of a backstory with this because there is a reason why I love Mikhail so much.
!!!TRIGGER WARNING!!! MENTAL ILLNESSES AND SU*C*DAL THOUGHTS MENTIONED!!!
It was about 10 years ago. Imagine a 14 year old me, sitting alone in my dark room. My depression and various other mental illnesses are geting worse every day, they have been dragging me down for years now. I am living with abusive people who love to push me down even further, mocking me and bullying me even though they are considered my family. I was broken. I was in pain. The word ‘s//ui//ci//de’ has been clouding my mind for years now.I just picked up on Resident Evil through parodies of it on youtube. I watched someone play Resident Evil 3 Nemesis online because I remember that we owned that game but I was terrified of Nemesis on the box so I didn’t play it myself. Then I saw Mikhail, how he lay on the seats of the cable car. I could tell he was in pain and I felt deeply sorry for him. But it wasn’t a special feeling because I felt sorry for all the characters in the game. The person who played the game even mocked Mikhail for his looks. At first I laughed along but then there came a specific cutscene. And then Mikhail said something.Just one sentence. One line of dialoge.
Tumblr media
It may just be a line of dialoge for most people. Some tiny bit of character developement sprinkled in for good meassure. But boy.I felt that.Suddenly I felt a deeper connection. It felt like I could see myself in Mikhail. He’s been through hell. He watched his men die in front of him. He is bleeding like crazy. He is in pain. Both mentally and physically. He’s expressing survivors guilt and it’s eating him up on the inside. When he said that line I literally teared up.I felt understood. And when he sacrificed himself to save Carlos and Jill, I cried. Hard. I cried because I was touched by his bravery. I cried because he deserved to live. I cried. Because I looked up to him. Without even realizing it, he became my role model. Mikhail is a kind soul, he is brave, determined, always trying his best, righteous, proud, a real team player and a wonderful leader. He is the kind of person I’ve always wanted to be.He quickly became my favorite character. I still watch all of the cutscenes with him every now and again when I need to hear his voice. I also sometimes browse his REwiki page just because I feel like it. When playing the Mercenaries minigame I always pick him. After meeting him I decided to keep going too. I can’t stop, no matter how broken and in pain I am. These wounds can’t stop me from fighting. I’ll keep fighting because I believe that I can get better if I just keep going. Fighting those demons off. Ignoring everyone who tells me otherwise. After all, I can’t stop just because I’m wounded. Also he is probably my biggest fictional crush ever lol. It’s been almost 10 years and I still can’t forget him and I still love him as much as I did on day 1.
Ever since then Mikhail has been a sort of voice of reason. When I’m feeling lost I ask myself what he would do in my situation. When I notice I haven’t eaten all day again, I’d imagine him trying to give me a pep talk. He became a coping mechanism and comfort character. I’ve been looking up to him for almost 10 years now, which is pretty rare when you know that I have tons of favorite characters that come and go, but he has always been my favorite Resident Evil character ever since that day.
I love everything about him. His backstory is tragic and herioc. He used to be an excellent soldier in the Russian SFSR before the Soviet Union collapsed. His wife was part of a minority who he fought for, causing him to be concidered a terrorist in the Russian Federation. After getting arrested he was approached by Umbrella. He agreed to join them but only if Umbrella does everything they can to ensure amnesty for his men. This just shows how much he cares for his comerades and loved ones. Mikhail joined a guerrilla organization to fight for the independence of the minority group his wife was a part of. He joined Umbrella, not because he himself wanted to be free, but because his men would be free.
I also really really like his relationship with Jill in the game. I could perfectly imagine them as very good friends. The way they talk with each other and how Jill tries to calm Mikhail down and helps and encourages him while also perfectly understanding the state he is in and the feelings and worries that are clouding his mind. I just love it and I demand fanart and fanfiction of a cute platonic relationship between these two. They are cute and precious.I sadly can’t say a lot about his relationships between him and the other members of the Operation-Jackal-Trio.Mikhail and Nikolai don’t interact at all. Which is bullsh*t because Capcom actually wanted them to be brothers and interact. That would have been an amazing addition. I want it back. My fav AU, hands down.Carlos mentions Mikhails name a few times (and by a few I mean two times). Once when explaining what happened and once when Mikhail got attacked in the cable car. I’m a bit sad we didn’t see more of them together. Carlos is certainly worried about Mikhails safety but I really wish they had expanded on that a little. I just wanted to see more interaction in general.
Mikhail also influenced my art. My nickname/pen name is Uby Victor. The ‘Uby’ part comes from the way you say the first two letters of the UBCS. And Victor isn’t hard to guess haha. Some people call me Victor too and I love it!! :3I also own an olive green beret in addition to my UBCS uniform. It’s just a prop and I guess just something I’ve always wanted to own haha. Now I just need to find a way to get the patch.I tried drawing him a few times but I’m an idiot and get flustered when I do so I usually stop before it’s even finished. I will probably never be able to draw him well haha. At least not with that attitude.
He’s also the reason I realized I have a soft spot for Russian accents. Even though Ben Campbell isn’t Russian, his accent is okay and I like his performance.
!!HORRIBLY HIGH LEVEL OF HONESTY AHEAD!!
I could probably rant even more about how much I love Mikhails personality. And his looks.
Tumblr media
Have you seen those eyes??? That is one awesome dark shade of blue. Unrealistic I know but damn. I love them. And his golden hair. I wanna run my hand through it. And those arms. Mmmh. He could throw me across a football field with those and I’d say “Thanks, daddy, please do it again!”. He looks like he gives great hugs too. He’s like a big teddy bear, hence why I call him Mischka all the time haha. Also he is top notch soft daddy material. I’m not the only one with this opinion. Also his crotch. The bulge is big. Just take my word for it. Or take a look for yourself. His full body picture is at the top of this post. You have been warned.
!!HORRIBLY HIGH LEVEL OF HONESTY OVER!!
All of this is also why I do not like his R3MAKE version at all. The original RE3: Nemesis Mikhail means so so so much to me. I associate him with recovery. I look up to him and I basically owe him my life. So seeing him be changed that drastically in the R3MAKE just broke my heart. I will stick with the original because that’s the one I like the most.
I could tell more but this is already very long lmao
EDITED tl;dr: Thank you, Mikhail. You’ve helped me more than any living human being ever did. I owe you so much. You’re an angel and I love you.

Rambling about RE2R and RE3R’s cut content part 2
Read part 1 here.
Part 2: RE3R
So I’m gonna be honest, I really like RE3R. It’s narrative and characters are 10/10 for me, something I haven’t been able to say about RE in a long time (honestly my biggest gripes with re5 and 6 are the complete wasted potential of their narratives and characters). I’ll go more in depth about it later but yeah I’ve got no complaints about the story or characters. My problems with RE3R come down to it’s length, level design and the utilization of Nemesis. So let’s get started.
spoilers ahead
Cut/altered/new content:
Live select options were cut in favour of a cohesive narrative and characterization (which have been expanded upon greatly), Jill’s apartment is now explorable, Nemesis ambushes Jill at her apartment and her escape is now playable, the graveyard is gone (though there is a nod to the graveyard at the start of the rpd section), the clock tower interior and its puzzles are gone (it’s exterior is used for the boss fight against Nemesis form 2 like the original), no water puzzle, the gravedigger has been merged with hunter gamma as a common enemy type, Uptown is now a linear setpiece that cannot be revisited, there are fewer Nemesis encounters, Nemesis item drops aren’t as worthwhile as the original,  there’s a new boss fight with Nemesis as he wields a flamethrower, tram has been changed to a subway train, fetchquest for the tram has been cut, Mikhail is now fully conscious for his entire appearance, new character Dr Bard included with new vaccine subplot, fetchquest for the gems has been made optional instead of mandatory, Mayor Warren’s statue is no longer fetchquest related and can be found before crossing the bridge to the clock tower, battery fetchquest for the construction site elevator has been changed to fuses for the underground storage facility elevator, Nemesis destroying the helicopter has been moved to the beginning of the game, Brad is still bitten at Bar Jack but heroically sacrifices himself rather than act like a huge coward, Brad is not killed by Nemesis, Brad infects Marvin (which ties in well with both og re2 and RE2R surprisingly), Racoon city in general has been redesigned to look like an american city instead of a japanese one, Stagla still explodes but cannot be entered, the zombie horde at Stagla has been moved to the hospital in a tower defence sequence, Drain Deimos and Brainsuckers have been merged, no leeches, no spiders or crows, new enemies the pale heads and parasite zombies, construction site and power station have been merged, once Jill has been infected Carlos takes her to the hospital instead of the chapel iside the clock tower, likewise Carlos doesn’t wait for 2 days before deciding to find a cure instead it takes him around 12 hours to find Jill and he immediately looks for the vaccine, hospital has been expanded, underground storage facility replaces the park, dead factory is merged with a new lab area, Tyrell is now an actual character and dies to Nemesis intead of an explosion, final boss is now reliant on Jill operating the rail gun herself rather than coercing Nemesis in front of it, iconic STARS line has been moved from the final boss fight to a chase sequence, the confrontation with Nicholai has been moved to the climax of the game, Nicholai is implied to be working with Wesker instead of Umbrella and of course the alternate ending with Barry was cut.
So RE3R does cut or alter the content of the original but in most cases it does try to replace whatever was cut. Also regardless of cuts, re3′s narrative has been expanded upon with character arcs and lore tying it to the rest of the series, that alone justifies this game’s existence for me. As much as I love the original, its bare bones plot and narrative structure (a result of being a sort of choose your adventure game) as well as the fact that it started as a spinoff game and the fact that its last three levels were added last minute (hence the vaccine plotline coming out of nowhere) really don’t do it any favours. I still enjoy the original story and characters but I think the remake did a better job at both these things.
So I had some major problems with the writing for RE2R in both terms of the overall narrative (there is no cohesive overlapping narrative between our two leads) and the portrayal of certain characters (Leon and Ada), so what did I think of RE3R? It’s good. It’s really good actually, the acting is probably the best in the series tbh. Jill’s ptsd from the mansion incident and how it has made her distrustful but also self sacrificing is so interesting. This is perfectly displayed when she agrees to help the UBCS, she knows she shouldn’t help them, that Umbrella is out to get her but with civilian lives on the line she decides to fulfil her duty as a STARS officer and help out. But she isn’t just abrasive or snarky, she shows she is still a very caring person too, this can be seen in her interactions with Brad, Kendo and even Dario, she wants to genuinely save all three of them but things just don’t work out that way. Carlos is great, way better than his original incarnation and I say that as someone who likes that version too. He’s a great support character for Jill and also acts somewhat as a foil for her character and his arc about learning of Umbrella’s wrongdoings is handled well. I think everyone can aggree that Carlos and Jill’s dynamic is fantastic, the growth of their relationship feels very organic and genuine. I never expected to care about Brad so much, in the original he’s just a huge coward who exists to be killed by Nemesis but now he actually feels like a person and someone who Jill valued. Also holy shit that scene where he bites Marvin is so much more narratively fulfilling than his death by Nemesis. Mikhail’s expanded role as captain is great, as is his death. Tyrell actually gets to be a character this time around and I actually hoped he’d somehow survive. Dr Bard is a total scumbag and his inclusion finally explains the vaccine’s creation as well as adding to the overall corruption of RC via Umbrella. Nicholai’s a total ham and a dickhead, I mean this in a good way I would describe all my favourite RE villians this way (the Weskers, the Ashfords, Salazar, Carla Radames, Jack Baker). And form 1 Nemesis has some fun dramatic flair that I enjoyed. Also I will defend the choice to remove Barry from the ending, I really like Barry but it was the right decision not to involve him as it would really work against the game’s narrative and Jill’s character arc.
Now onto RE3R’s level design and structure and in my opinion it should have borrowed more from the og re3′s level design way more. What we have isn’t bad but it could’ve been much more. The streets being redesigned was inevitable to me, I really enjoy the aesthetic of the original but it looks very Japanese and RC is supposed to be a US city, so this change doesn’t bother me. The linearity does. The streets should have been more open and you should have been able to return to Uptown to explore (adding back in a fetchquest would justify this), this would give way more opportunities for Nemesis to stalk the player. What’s strange is there is a mod that opens up Downtown to be almost completely explorable and Nemesis’s AI can actually track you throughout it’s entirety, why bother programming him that way if the intention was to make the area more linear? When Nemesis does show up in the remake he’s great but he should have been present way more, he’s like the opposite of Mr X in RE2R. Mr X follows the player semi randomly around the RPD for a while but he is pretty toothless as a threat (seriously, you can out walk him), Nemesis on the other hand is a genuine threat but is only semi random for an incredibly short portion of the game. Expanding the streets would fix this issue. The park could’ve been an explorable area before the RPD, I personally don’t mind the park being cut but i know a lot of people do. They should have implemented more puzzles. I also think the clock tower should have been explorable and if I’m being honest I think it was supposed to be, it’s referenced in the subway and then we get the pamphlet before crossing the bridge, I think it was cut for time.  I think a lot was cut for time and I don’t think it’s M2′s fault, i think Capcom is the problem here and all you need to do is look at RE2R and all of its cut content for proof.
Honestly if this game had just reintegrated some more of the original games levels and structure I think it would have been a 10/10, I still enjoy what we got I just want more! I hope we get DLC in the future and there’s certainly ample opportunity, we could have a ghost survivors scenario with Brad escaping Nemesis, we could play as Nicholai as he collects data on the outbreak before the main game, a dream sequence of Jill exploring the clock tower, Tyrell could cut through the park as he makes his way to the hospital and of course I hope we get Mercenaries mode. I guess time will tell.

A Zombie Game you should play: Resident Evil 3
I recall the very first time that I played with the first: what my room looked like it felt to complete that stand finale, in which I was.
However, my admiration for the franchise grew out of there. It is mad to consider exactly how each entrance has brought something fresh into the table: Resident Evil recognized survival terror for a number of years gave us the most unforgettable home setting, RE2 boldly moved with the double protagonist path, RE3 dialed-up Mr. X and had the Nemesis stem the participant whilst randomizing things and supplying small narrative options, also RE4 attracted the string into a action-oriented management and shook the business to its center. That is to say nothing of this co-op refinements of all both RE5 as well as the numerous virtues of RE7. I am not needing a mainline entrance, am I really? Find it here on Steam, or compare prices here at Gameforest.
The purpose is, Resident Evil is pretty much consistently applicable, and also the RE2 along with RE3 remakes are just demonstrating that assertion: although the latter creates a marginally weaker case than the prior.
I am not so convinced Resident Evil 3 will have that exact identical warm reception.
I have always been in my mind that in several ways, the first RE3 is a much better match compared to the first release of RE2. Within countless speedruns and the last two centuries some individuals are coming about it, although I had been in the moment. The Nemesis is a huge reason RE3 has so far character: a indomitable force that is always current, or gets his existence sensed when he is not physically around. He is, and was, a horror schlock amalgam, similar to Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees.
His denying doom is impactful within this movie where he is lurking round every corner, occasionally in a humorous Looney Tunes-similar style. The dodge system (that is similar to a contemporary parry and much not as wonky than it had been in the first ) also satisfies the same oddball bit of which makes you feel more stressed in the present time. Resident Evil 3 created a deliberate decision to begin altering the show to a action focus, along with the movie continues that tendency, dialing up things. The dodge is difficult to grasp, but like most action games, supplies a feeling of achievement once you nail it. Kudos for pulling knife to Capcom runs straight back into the forefront.
You've got a group of unique characters financing up you and citizens are operating . It is larger more bombastic. RE3 was consistently comfy walking which action-survival tightrope and has been doing this in 2020.
That is no more obvious than the intro but motives Jill into the battle. The cracks are full of here as well as a sassier Carlos that performs with a direct character, in the story perspective. Speaking of these extreme changes, I would say this is definitely the most divergent Resident Evil picture with a country mile. Locales are completely changed in addition to the above narrative beats, using much more clear tie-ins into the Resident Evil two remake.
I had been torn. Some segments have more character and are far somewhat much far greater, however, the stream feels linear. Even the Resident Evil two movie did a fantastic job of maintaining that timeless franchise sense with its own heavy-puzzle focus along with also the giant police station which functioned as a varied RPG dungeon, however, RE3 often jumps from place to put a chapter-like arrangement. But it keeps coming back from the verge on account of this engine's energy.
Aesthetics and the character models appear fantastic, as though you struggle by piece and increase the feeling of dread you are feeling; that I wish there were only a couple places to enjoy everything with. A couple items are stripped away in the first in the procedure, to achieve this all. Numerous endings are outside (clear ), since will be actually the Mercenaries mini-game (less clear as the progenitor-Mercs manners were at the RE2 movie ) as well as the above time-stopping occasion choices.
We've got a completely different article dealing with this , however having played with a little I'll say that: I sort of wish we've just obtained more Resident Evil 3, because it features a solid postgame now.
As an example, I overcome Resident Evil 3 double with this review. My very first playthrough was about half an hour, and there is an"below two hour" obstacle: only to give you a good notion of how fast it is possible to run through it in case you set your head to it. When you're finished, you may unlock"store" things with battle points such as additional weapons and items, and there is also a benefit for beating the game on veteran (difficult ) mode.
The movie of Resident Evil 3 will be divisive, as the first was. While the actions enhancements assist the match automatically (to this point at which I would not mind viewing them in different remakes), the stripped-down removal and focus of a number of the first's stranger experiments hurt . That said, I am still searching for a playthrough of the first and the movie.

Yakking ‘bout Games: Resident Evil 4
Tumblr media
Yakking ‘bout Games is a series where I talk about games that I’m currently playing or have just finished. It can be new or old, console or PC, good or bad, it really doesn’t matter. If it’s a game worth talking about, you’ll see it covered here.
Where do I even start with this one? Resident Evil 4 is one of those games that doesn’t really need an introduction. It’s a legend of the industry. A game that somehow managed to transcend its own genre to reinvent another. I could start with how it was supposed to be a more traditional entry in the series. I could discuss about it being part of the Capcom Five, a series of titles intended to be exclusive to the Nintendo GameCube which ended in complete disaster. I think it would be easier to just dive in, wouldn’t you agree?
Tumblr media
Fair enough, Leon. We’re getting into it now.
After the Spencer Mansion (RE1) and Raccoon City (RE2 & RE3) incidents, the evil pharmaceutical organisation known as Umbrella are finished. All is right with the world. It doesn’t last long however as Ashley Graham (the US President’s daughter) is kidnapped and only one man is up to the job: former rookie cop turned badass secret agent, Leon S. Kennedy. Leon is sent to rural Spain to locate and secure Ashley, but it isn’t long before things go pear-shaped and Leon ends up being infected with a mysterious parasite.
Tumblr media
To be fair, when have rescue missions ever gone smoothly in movies and video games?
I wouldn’t say the story in RE4 is the most complex or well delivered, but the dialogue and characters certainly hold it up. I’m convinced that the writers just sat around watching Commando when coming up with the dialogue for this. Some of Leon’s lines feel right at home in that style of movie and I love them. A personal favourite of mine would have to be his exclaimation of “No thanks, bro!” when first encountering one of the villains. The characters are also a delight. I adored Luis Sera, a very charming womaniser, Ada Wong, a femme fetale type returning from Resident Evil 2 and Lord Saddler, the grandiose leader of the evil cult that kidnapped Ashley. Of course I can’t forget The Merchant as well.
Tumblr media
You’re imagining his voice right now, aren’t you? Me too.
To say that RE4 is just a survival horror game is overlooking what this game managed to achieve with its gameplay. It still keeps with its survival horror roots in that inventory and resource management is a key element. You don’t have a huge amount of inventory space at the start (though this can be upgraded) so you can only hold a certain amount of weapons, ammo and healing items. Meaning that you have be a bit smart with whatever you have. You can even play a little inventory Tetris to fit items in. You still solve puzzles and still have to hunt for key items in order to progress but what truly made this game stand out from the crowd was its take on third-person shooting.
Resident Evil 4 finally managed to crack the problem that so many third-person shooters and action games could not figure out. It managed to fix the camera perspective by having the camera always overlooking the main character’s shoulder even when aiming. This was a literal game changer. It finally allowed for more precision and less frustration which wasn’t possible before. It feels great. Firing a gun in this game is a treat. All the weapons feel fantastic to use (especially the shotguns) and as mentioned previously, the over-the-shoulder perspective allows for more precise aiming so you can shoot enemies in certain body parts which plays a huge role as certain enemies and bosses can only be defeated this way. Instead of a reticule, you get a laser sight on all guns which adds a little difficulty to the aiming.
The melee combat also gets an upgrade. It was pretty simplistic in the previous entries as it was supposed to be more of a fall back option if you used up all of your ammo. You still get a knife in this game which can be drawn to give enemies a quick slash which is useful if they’re downed, but you can also perform melee moves after staggering an enemy with a well-placed shot. These are pretty fun to pull off and can be instrumental in saving your life. The combat just feels fantastic and this game introduces so many different ways to deal with certain situations. Guns can even be upgraded in order to be even more effective with them dealing better firepower and higher ammo capacity.
There are problems with the gameplay for sure. It’s not too long before you encounter Ashley and have her tag along with you for a decent chunk of the game. Now generally Ashley isn’t too problematic to have around. You can tell her to follow you, hold position and even have her hide in certain spots and generally she follows these orders to the letter. The problem lies with her AI just deciding to do some daft things from time to time. I had numerous instances where she would stop following me while we were escaping from some enemies and would just cower allowing the enemy to grab and take her away. Thus the ever grating “LEON!!!” screech begins (no offense to her voice actress.) I feel that Silent Hill 4 did the whole escort thing better. Eileen Galvin wouldn’t do anything crazy (unless you gave her a weapon.)
Tumblr media
She’s not best pleased with me after that last paragraph. I don’t blame her.
Then we have the Quick Time Events. Now generally I don’t have a problem with QTEs being in games. It’s a regular thing in games now, I can live with it. The ones in RE4 at times can feel a little cheap. Especially the ones that just pop up out of nowhere during a cutscene when you least expect it. Not cool, Capcom. Not cool.
Tumblr media
I bet Indiana Jones didn’t have to worry about pressing square to run away...
Another issue I have is that some of the boss fights in this game do a pretty poor job of telling the player if their attacks are having any effect. It feels like you have to dump half your resources before they even flinch. This is a problem I’ve had with most of the games in this series and it still happens in the recent ones. It’s just not as bad. For the record, I’m not saying that the boss fights are near impossible, I’m just saying that I wish that certain bosses gave better indication that they’re being hurt by my attacks.
Resident Evil 4′s presentation is still excellent to this day. Obviously the graphics are showing their age (even more so when blown up to HD), but the enviroments are still striking and carry a great sense of atmosphere. I especially loved the look of the castle sections of the game. It definitely gave me a bit of a Devil May Cry vibe. (Makes sense. The two series are very much linked.)
Tumblr media
Definitely gets the “S” for Stylish.
The cutscenes look good and are pretty well directed. The voice acting is really good considering when this came out. Plus I couldn’t fault the music and sound design if I tried. It’s always been an area where this series has excelled at.
The game has a very good length to it. I finished it in about 10-11 hours. There is reason to go back again since you unlock some weapons and costumes just for finishing the game. There is also the Separate Ways and Assignment Ada chapters (available on every platform except the OG GameCube version) which focus on Ada Wong and they add a good few more hours to the play time. Plus you have the highly replayable arcade-style Mercenaries mode which tasks you with killing as many enemies as you can within a time limit to earn the highest score possible.
Resident Evil 4 is just sublime. The combat still packs a punch even to this day. It feels amazing and it allows you to approach different situations in a variety of ways. The game also just manages to stay true to the traditional fixed camera angle survival horror entries that came before by sticking to the same core values that made those games so tense and engaging. It may have some elements that haven’t aged fantastically, but it still plays well and provides a great experience for any budding survival horror fan. It’s a shame that because of this game, the series went off the rails for a while as some of the next entries just focused on the action. (For the record, I liked Resi 5 a lot.)
Interestingly enough, Resident Evil 4 doesn’t really get any of the stigma that comes with that fact. It’s still beloved and important. Play it yourself sometime and you’ll understand why.

internet arguement mode partially kicked in so responded to one of the many shitty comments on RE3R gaming wins video the moment i got a response from the person brain kicked in and went nope (blocked. on second reread of original comment and response i got the distinct vibe that this person wanted the story beat of Jill "well trained and has seen people have moments of stress works well in a team" Valentine would slap Carlos as he was having a moment of panic at the situation they are in- my most hated moment of the original glad to never see it unless i watch that playthrough again glad it wasn't in the remake because people are dumb enough about it as is... people thought Jill was being too mean to Carlos and Nemesis in the remake)
they mentioned the mercenaries Mad Jakal for Nemesis (continued on with dlc should have been released alongside the game blah blah and how the clock tower was important) and checking it (can't find gameplay as yet with no commentary so just reading) out you can play as Carlos, Nicholai and Mikhail. Nicholai is a interesting choice for a playable character. my current conclusion is it probably would have been released after getting worked on after the base game because it has a good concept and potential story beats (you encounter hostages that you can save but that in itself is a bit irritating as its Brad, Dario the guy we meet at the start locking himself in that safe, Marvin, poster girl and 2 UBCS guys which is yeah how rewarding is it to save this group) but its not a story dlc its run and gun mode (which is fine and there is some strategy involved) they're just fun (sometimes frustrating) but repitive even with different load outs (re7 dlc spoiled us honeslty because they're all so different you have to shift gears when going through them)
I got this when you sent it but I kept forgetting to reply! I've learned the hard way one too many times that the internet argument is never worth it. I think it's a lesson I will have to keep relearning here and there, but eventually!!! I'll just keep to my damn self all the time!
I will be controversial and say I did like the slap moment in the original RE3. I understand that Jill is supposed to be well-trained and put together, but she is like Chris where she'll let her emotions get ahead of her. Not to mention, the Racoon City incident was her experience in the Arklay Mansion on steroids. Jill and Carlos were in an extremely high stress situation over the span of several days and both were running on less than 8 hours of actual sleep the entire time.
To me this wasn't showing Jill as hysterical or mean but was a moment to show how they're both reaching a breaking point. Jill is acting as the older adult using the cliche "slap some sense into them" method, while Carlos is made to realize his own mental lapse isn't helpful, and they both take a moment away from each other after so they can to get their shit together. I like to think that Jill apologized to him in the helicopter ride and explains that she didn't know what else to do to get him back on track in the heat of the moment. I like to think Carlos meets her in the middle saying he understands, and he agrees that suggesting they off themselves was A LotTM, but he also gets her with the firm boundary of asking her not to do that again in the future with the hope they wouldn't come to that point a second time. But that's just me! I get it if other people don't see it that way.
Nikolai doesn't seem like a strange choice. My understanding of the Mercenaries content is having the ability to play main story line characters in melee rushes, so him being there makes sense in that context. And I know about all the RE7 DLC, but the only one I cared about was End of Zoe cause I did want to know if she was okay or not. The rest was meh in my opinion, but that also because I hate Lucas lol.

Everything We Know About Resident Evil 3 (So Far)
The Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remake was officially revealed in an announcement trailer during the PlayStation State of Play on December 10. While this was our first official look at the next remake coming to Capcom’s survival horror series, rumors and leaks of the game arrived beforehand. YouTube creator SpawnWave was the source of Resident Evil 3 rumors in late November and then an update to the PlayStation Network gave us our first peek at Resident Evil 3 cover art. None the less, when Capcom finally announced RE:3, the developer still gave us plenty of new information to catch up on. From gameplay to character redesigns, here's everything we know about Resident Evil 3: Nemesis so far.
Trailers and Story
So far two trailers have come out for Resident Evil 3: The Resident Evil 3 announcement trailer and the Special Developer Message video, which we discuss more thoroughly in the gameplay and character redesign sections of this article found below. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/10/resident-evil-3-remake-official-announcement-trailer"] The announcement trailer features protagonist Jill Valentine as she’s pursued by Resident Evil 3's infamous antagonist Nemesis. Created to eliminate members of the Special Tactics And Rescue Service team, more commonly referred to as STARS, Nemesis seems to be making his return in the remake as the creepy mutant stalker that will make you crap your pants. A cameo by UBCS (also known as Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service) member Mikhail Victor is shown, followed by fellow STARS member Brad Vickers. Additional UBCS members Nikolai Zinoviev and Carlos Oliveria also make an appearance in the trailer. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/12/resident-evil-3-remake-trailer-breakdown-secrets-easter-eggs-and-callbacks-rewind-theater"] A clip of Jill muttering, “Ugh, my head...” over a running sink along with a few quick flashes of her resembling a decaying zombie is shown near the end, as well.
Modes
In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK, Capcom producer Peter Fabian confirmed Resident Evil 3 does not have a Mercenaries Mode. Instead, it will include an online multiplayer called Resident Evil Resistance.
Resident Evil Resistance
Previously announced as Project Resistance, Resident Evil Resistance is a team-based survival horror mode where four survivors face against one "Mastermind". The Mastermind watches and places dangerous obstacles from a control room as the players try to escape the from the map before time runs out. Survivors have skills such as healing, hacking, defense moves, and attacks that they can use to increase their chances of escape. Masterminds also have a few tricks up their sleeve, having the ability to summon zombies, bioweapons, and other mutated creatures based in their background and expertise. Read our Project Resistance hands on for our impressions about early gameplay.
When Does Resident Evil 3 Take Place?
According to Capcom producer Peter Fabiano, Resident Evil 3 takes place before and after RE:2 Remake. "While Leon and Claire’s stories occur after the city has already been infected for some time, Jill’s story provides a new perspective." Fabiano explained in a PlayStation Blog. "Starting with the early days of the outbreak, you’ll follow Jill’s fight for survival as the population of the once-lively metropolis turns into hordes of undead."
Gameplay
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/10/resident-evil-3-special-developer-message-gameplay-first-look"] Resident Evil 3 gameplay was first revealed in a video titled Special Developer Message where Capcom producers Peter Fabiano and Masachika Kawata talk through footage of the game. Featuring a redesigned Jill Valentine in an over-the-shoulder view, the gameplay shows her walking through a ravaged Raccoon City. Citizens run frantically by as Jill emerges from an abandoned building saying to herself, “More survivors. We gotta get that train moving.” [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/10/resident-evil-3-special-developer-message-gameplay-first-look/loops?q=eyJsb29wVGl0bGUiOiIiLCJzdGFydFBvc2l0aW9uIjowLjMwMzU5NDU1MDAwMjUzODgsImVuZFBvc2l0aW9uIjowLjM0NjcwMDU1NjI3MzQ4NDMsInN0aWNrZXJHcmlkSWRzIjpbeyJwb3MiOjAsImltYWdlSWQiOiIifSx7InBvcyI6MSwiaW1hZ2VJZCI6IiJ9LHsicG9zIjoyLCJpbWFnZUlkIjoiIn0seyJwb3MiOjMsImltYWdlSWQiOiIifSx7InBvcyI6NCwiaW1hZ2VJZCI6IiJ9LHsicG9zIjo1LCJpbWFnZUlkIjoiIn1dLCJ2aWRlb0lkIjoiMzA1OGY4OTMwYmUwMjVkNWY0OGQ5NTQxNmVlOGY2NTciLCJjcmVhdG9yIjoiSm9uUnlhbi1JR04iLCJpc0JyYW5kaW5nRXhjbHVkZWQiOnRydWV9"] She then encounters her first zombie, taking it down swiftly with two shots to the chest. Unlike the original, Capcom producer Peter Fabiano confirmed that Resident Evil 3 will not have multiple endings.
Resident Evil 3 Character Redesigns
Most of the character designs in Resident Evil 3 have been updated from their original version. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/11/resident-evil-3-comparison-remake-vs-original"]
Jill Valentine
Producers Peter Fabiano and Masachika Kawata explained in their Special Developer Message video that they were happy with how Jill Valentine’s new design came out and that it reflected the Resident Evil 3 remake’s lean towards action. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/11/resident-evil-3-comparison-remake-vs-original/loops?q=eyJsb29wVGl0bGUiOiIiLCJzdGFydFBvc2l0aW9uIjowLjM2NjY5NTg4ODU1ODgxOCwiZW5kUG9zaXRpb24iOjAuNDU5OTA1MTkwMDkzMDUyMiwic3RpY2tlckdyaWRJZHMiOlt7InBvcyI6MCwiaW1hZ2VJZCI6IiJ9LHsicG9zIjoxLCJpbWFnZUlkIjoiIn0seyJwb3MiOjIsImltYWdlSWQiOiIifSx7InBvcyI6MywiaW1hZ2VJZCI6IiJ9LHsicG9zIjo0LCJpbWFnZUlkIjoiIn0seyJwb3MiOjUsImltYWdlSWQiOiIifV0sInZpZGVvSWQiOiJhODcwNzk5NmRhZjg3OTFhODA5M2Y3ZTQxYjk4ZjZmZiIsImNyZWF0b3IiOiJKb25SeWFuLUlHTiIsImlzQnJhbmRpbmdFeGNsdWRlZCI6dHJ1ZX0="]
Carlos Oliveria
Carlos Oliveira has been changed to look more “rough around the edges”. The producers said they recreated Carlos with the dire setting of Resident Evil 3 in mind, and the idea that he would be “a reliable ally that Jill could lean on”. Producer Peter Fabiano also confirmed that Carlos will be a playable character and "have his own interesting section to play through" in RE3.
Nemesis
Nemesis also received a hefty design change, getting a nose and some very long teeth in the process. The producers said that he will have “more ways than Tyrant from Resident Evil 2 to track down his target Jill Valentine”. Scary! His more realistic appearance was achieved with the use of a technique called photogrammetry, where the developers created a real-life model of Nemesis and scanned it into the game. In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine, producer Peter Fabiano talked about what the developers have done to make Nemesis even more terrifying. Nemesis will feature smarter AI, akin to that of Tyrant in RE2, and will have the ability to freely roam about Raccoon City. He can also use weapons, making him a threat that can harm you from distance.
RE2 Remake Achievement Links to RE3
A new achievement called Chasing Jill was added to Resident Evil 2 Remake. The description for this achievement reads, "Read a letter left behind by Jill", hinting at an in-game link to Resident Evil 3.

Proposal for Resident Evil 8 / how I would set the game up:
STORY STRUCTURE:
1) Like Resident Evil 6, the game features four separate campaigns that happen simultaneously with each other. The protagonists are Jill Valentine, Jake Muller, Mia Winters, and Billy Coen.
2) All four campaigns end in the same location and after completing each campaign, you unlock the final boss battle. The final boss has four stages with a different protagonist per stage.
3) There is an epilogue mission in which you play as HUNK.
CAMPAIGN SUMMARIES:
1) Jill’s campaign: Jill has fully recovered since the events of RE5. After being cleared for field duty, she’s assigned to a team that is being sent to handle a C-Virus outbreak that broke out in India. It’s later revealed that Carlos Oliveira, who joined the BSAA at some point after RE3, is the team’s leader and that he was the one who selected Jill for the team.
2) Jake’s campaign: Under the orders of Chris Redfield, Jake is sent to Africa to track down a dangerous arms dealer who is selling BOWs to the highest bidder. To aid him in his mission, Chris assigns Sheva Alomar to Jake as his partner.
3) Mia’s campaign: Set a few months after RE7, Mia and Ethan are forced to go on the run when the bioterrorist organization that Mia worked for, the Connections, puts a bounty on her head in order to tie up all loose ends. They flee to Mia’s safehouse in India, unaware that the Connections anticipated their move. A few agents of the Connections start a viral outbreak in the area just to kill her.
4) Billy’s campaign: Since the events of RE0, Billy has become a nomad, aimlessly wandering the US while trying to hide his identity. In a chance encounter, he meets a young girl being chased by an unknown group of mercenaries. When he steps in to help the girl out, the girl reveals that she has “superpowers”, which she proceeds to use to take the mercenaries out. When the girl asks for Billy’s help to figure out what’s going on with her body, Billy decides to reconnect with Rebecca Chambers as his instincts are telling him that whatever’s happening with the girl is BOW-related.
MAJOR DETAILS:
1) Jill’s campaign is obviously taking place at the same time and location as Mia’s campaign. Jake and Sheva eventually make their way to India when they learn that the arms dealer sent a BOW there (the BOW was bought by the Connections). Billy, Rebecca, and the girl with superpowers make their way to India in order to talk with Mia Winters about Eveline and the E-Type BOW series (the outbreak hasn’t occurred yet when they make the trip).
2) The girl with superpowers is revealed to be an E-Type bioweapon, just like Eveline. At the end of the game, she’s adopted by Rebecca Chambers.
3) The main villain of the game is the leader of the Connections unit ordered to kill Mia Winters. As a major contrast to past Resident Evil main villains, the Connections leader isn’t some maniac with aspirations to destroy the world with bioweapons. Instead, they are a pure professional, only wanting to take Mia out as she is a threat to the organization. I’d classify the Connections leader as a Lawful Neutral villain as they are only enforcing the organization’s will through any and all means.
4) As another departure from the past RE main villains, the Connections leader survives the events of the game. I pictured this character becoming the “new” Albert Wesker as in they’re gonna be the main villain of the next major storyline arc.
5) The final boss is the BOW that was sold by the African arms dealer. It mutates into four different stages, with Jake fighting it in the first stage, Billy fighting in the second stage, Mia fighting in the third stage, and Jill fighting in the fourth and final stage.
6) The main groups: Jill and Carlos / Jake and Sheva / Billy, Rebecca, and the E-Type BOW / Mia and Ethan Winters
7) Chris and Leon aren’t major characters in this game. Chris only makes short appearances in Jake’s and Jill’s campaign while Leon is said to be out on a mission.
8) HUNK’s epilogue mission features him being sent into the outbreak zone in order to rescue a politician with ties to the Family (the main villainous faction from RE6). After meeting with the team sent to extract him and the politician, HUNK is promptly shot and left for dead. The politician then says to HUNK that although he is grateful for the rescue, the Family hates loose ends. The politician and the extraction team then leave HUNK to bleed out. The last stage of the epilogue features HUNK looking for help (similar to the sequence from “The Last of Us” where you have to control Joel after he had been impaled). Using the last of his energy, he manages to find a radio and uses it to contact Jill Valentine and the BSAA. HUNK’s fate is left unknown as he passes out from blood loss after telling the BSAA where to find him.
