I read all those pre-Waid The Flash 1987 comics recently and then snagged a copy of an omnibus collecting some of them because I like Messner-Loebs's run, and it turns out I completely missed a very significant story, so tonight I'm losing my mind over "The Unforgiving Minute," which addresses the roots of Wally’s power-inhibiting imposter syndrome in a therapy setting (not a typical place for a 1980s hero), and I'll probably analyze it more fully later because, oh my goodness, I have Thoughts.
#comicsposting again#WW: a boy with lightning in his eyes#there were some amazingly thoughtful and character-focused writers on this book#which is probably why Wally has such a surprising amount of resonant stories dealing with his psychology/mental health#he also has a therapist who somehow is both a) incredibly insightful and b) incredibly unprofessional#but that's something to unpack another time
