The Tuvan Shepherd is a very old native dog from the Tuva region of Siberia bordering Mongolia. They are an endangered breed that declined during industrialization but is currently being revived and shown by conservation breeders. The dogs come in heavier and leaner types for different work, the Tuvan is noted as an excellent watchdog or hunting dog that is extremely cold tolerant.

@just-another-linguist and @melestasflight both requested Fingon which was v exciting. Fingon is one of the characters that really stuck with me the first time I read the Silm, but I’ve never actually drawn him. In my mind this is like a Valinor-era Fingon!

Caracalla lost everybody close to him (father figure and twin brother) on the same day, both technically by his own doing, but doesn't even remember half of that anyway, and is now desperate to keep at least one person around, still. he might not even remember his own screaming voice demanding her crucifixion due to her betrayal. and if he does, he clearly wants to take it back and keep her alive and around him. in terms of human companions, she's all he has left. except for Macrinus, of course, but he's still new and another father figure, unable to fill that gaping hole Caracalla's real mother has presumably left and Lucilla is going to leave if she dies. but since Macrinus has the emperor wrapped around his little finger already, just a few words from him convinced Caracalla that this was, in fact, necessary and the only way; thus, sealing Lucilla's fate.

the best thing about writing daniil pov is that i can use specific anatomical terminology to really precisely describe what theyre doing, where theyre touching, etc. because its in character for him. the worst thing about writing daniil pov is that it still sounds ridiculous because his character is a little ridiculous

It's just dark. You can't see what's inside, it's just dark. Um, and he turns, and he addresses you guys, and he goes: Akarot: Oh. You again. Ruining another one of my rituals! Moonshine, cheerfully: Ah! So we did categorically ruin your other ritual! That's good. 'Cause for us it felt like a pyrrhic victory. But I'm glad to know that it was a ruin for you! Akarot: Oh, it's-- it's-- it's a pyrrhic victory for you overall. [The other players laugh] Moonshine: Okay, so I win? Akarot: What? No! I mean. Akarot: I haven't had a ton of time to get used to this body, I'll be-- I didn't notice the vest when I first put the body on. Moonshine, still laughing: Really? It's like all I see! Murph, laughing and slightly unintelligible: He does-- He does see-- vest-- Moonshine: Are there like holes for your wings in it? Akarot: Yeah. Clearly! My wings are out. Everyone's focusing on the vests. Everyone's focusing on the vests. Hardwon: Including you! Apple: It's very distracting. Is there stuff in those pockets? Akarot: Um. Okay. Everyone relax! in rennala's bossfight it's a bit difficult to make out but the juveline scholars are actually singing throughout her first phase and I find the lyrics of their song to be incredibly interesting:

"Sleep tight, bound tight, by mothers amber, sleep tight, find life in mother’s umbra."

rennala refers to the juveline scholars as "sweetings" and I'm assuming that the 'mother' they're referring to in this song is rennala which is a curious detail when you notice how they mention the word umbra.

for those not aware, umbra is latin for 'shadow' and is said to be the darkest part of a shadow; the part where the light source is completely blocked and more specifically i'd like to bring up how in the song they're referencing finding life in mother's umbra; in mother's shadow.

rennala is referred to as the queen of the full moon and her incantation refers to how she "encounters" this enchanting moon.

similarly her daughter ranni is said to have encountered the dark moon.

This moon was encountered by a young Ranni, led by the hand of her mother, Rennala. What she beheld was cold, dark and veiled in occult mystery.

there isn't really a point to any of this but I still found it really interesting how ranni is associated with the dark moon and was led to the dark moon by her mother rennala, especially when you account for the detail of the juveline scholars mentioning mother's umbra or in this case mentioning rennala's shadow in a sense.

i just wonder if it's an interesting bit of storytelling that ranni discovered the dark moon, the shadow of her mother rennala's full moon, with her mother's help and it helped her escape the confines of her destiny and carve out her own path and take her life into her own hands.

finding life in mother's umbra indeed i suppose.

ogfoofodoxx thinking about how the most defining character trait of haymitch is how protective he is. not in the sense it's the most obvious, but how all of his actions are fueled by this desire to protect. how hard he works at keeping katniss alive in the first games, him fighting to keep them from augmenting katniss's body, him yelling at plutarch to keep finnick from having to share his trauma, him being so involved in peeta's recovery and being the one to bring katniss home. him holding mayslee's hand as she died, fighting for plutarch to stay and rescue peeta, being the one to find katniss and finnick when johanna had an episode, begging coin to believe peeta's warning. it being heavily implied or either outright stated that he was one of the people who fought to protect effie.

makes me physically ill because no one does that for him. everyone who would of, died.

oh my god i just finished the dark forest finally. 7/10 i suppose, i went through the first half or so of the book being really annoyed by luo ji but also enjoying the chapters where he shows up because unfortunately he was entertaining. still don't understand the imaginary girlfriend thing, it just feels like he needs someone to protect from the world which like ??? ok sure i guess, it just rubs me the wrong way personally. for the second half and especially the end i became luo ji's number one defender it's fine. for the rest, holy crap—the droplet, the microcosm of the universe on those runaway ships, the wallfacer project, luo ji drawing from rey diaz's plan, the attitude of the world towards him, the entire theory... wow
