Went to the store to buy kitty litter and in the parking lot was a vehicle with a large, stenciled sign on top which said on one side "RAPTURE READY BY THE BLOOD" and on the other "BY THE BLOOD OF YEHUSHA"
And because I find it easier to view things through the lens of stories and because I watched the new animated Watchmen recently I thought about Rorschach. And how we empathize with this sort of person and admire their convictions to a degree but really don't want to be this person or be associated with them or even, probably, talk to them if it can be avoided.
Because most of us (many of us?) are brought up as children in a very black and white moral universe where God is going to judge the wicked, and depending on how deeply you believe this and how seriously you have tried to live according to these views, you may believe and hope God is coming, not just after we die or Eventually, but Soon, and you're going to be the only one not trying to hide the porn.
Or whatever.
And I think if you are a True Believer you either have to eventually walk away from all that because you can't live with the dissonance of most of your peers or you end up carrying the doomsday signs, because most professed believers.....
There is a tacit expectation that as you grow up and put childish things behind you, you either sand the rough edges off your convictions (better case), or profess belief while not acting in accordance to that belief (bad case) for various reasons and various levels of actual, internal belief. No one is telling you this. The preachers are still telling you the black and white version. Yet every sane adult you know is doing this to some degree or another.
