any "both sides are suffering" claims wrt palestine and israel truly are cruel and nonsensical... the finnish state news (yle) made a video article about a palestinian 18 yo dima al-lamdani and a 24yo israeli man to be like, both sides are suffering </3 but it's honestly grotesque to compare the two

in the video interview dima al-lamdani is still covered in dirt while telling how 13 of her 17 family members perished in the bombings of refugees fleeing gaza, and she had to identify the bodies. meanwhile the israeli man's plight is that his girlfriend is one of the hostages taken by hamas. she isn't probably even dead and is being treated well. how are these two people suffering equally?

the israeli man even says he can only pray that their government will do everything to get the hostages back, which to me sounds like endorsement for the ongoing brutalization of palestinians. could not give less of a fuck about his sad feelings

even if all 200 hostages would die it would be nothing compared to the over 7000 palestinians murdered in this time. even counted together with israel's claimed 1400 dead in the initial attack, it's still a fraction of innocent palestinian lives lost

yet in the western narrative, the lives of israeli citizens are worth much more than palestinian lives
