english is actually a really fucking weird sounding language i'm convinced the only reason we don't talk about how weird it is bc it's fucking everywhere so we've all just collectively gaslit ourselves into thinking it's normal

#it's hitting me now that i'm back to like.... not communicating and listening to content almost exclusively in english #ok communication still goes on in english nobody else wanna talk to me #(and local folk use me for english practice lmao)#but like. english is really weird? you guys have no right to make fun of french #you eat like 60% of the sounds you type #they're just not there spoken out loud #it's a weird flowy breathy language with a weird sound that almost no one else does #also imma be real definite and indefinite articles? kinda weird #but that's a common one that's not just english so whatever #but yeah if you bully french and you only speak english that's internalized weird language phobia #fr tho i've been speaking primarily english out loud in private life for yeeeeaaars and it still feels so wrong #you try to sound more like a native speaker and it just gives you this weird accent where you swallow all your words #because youre trying not to put the sounds there that your brain is telling you are written there #which is exactly how english speakers sound to you but like weird sound slurry the other way #what im trying to say is if you're an english speaker only have mercy on your international friends.#learn a language that actually pronounces its consonants
