think i may have found my first bad eno quote. genuinely no idea what the hell hes talking abt lol. tho he obv talks a lot abt liking steve reich and most sites reporting on this quote are taking it out of context sorta since he sorta tries to be like “oh well both are fine” but also just no clue what hes getting at with this one. well sorta like saying that more improvisied live drumming is more appealing than notated drumming but also p a strange thing to say especially in the context of drumming and in steve reichs work..

#tho this is more than 10 years old and when he was interviewed for the steve reich interview book i read #he seemed more unanimously praising reichs choice of sounds to phase and like singled reich out compared to other process music artists #so maybe hes changed his mind on reich but still a p like strange quote tho i can sorta understand what hes saying and what he means #which is def a valid point to make between his music and like minimalist process stuff but he just doesnt say it well #atleast in that particular interview
