my biggest gripe and hot take is about coach beiste btw
glee started 15 slutty, slutty years ago and ended a little under 6 slutty, slutty years later and i still
to this day
have some very big opinions on it lol
#elaboration in the tags uwu#i loved coach beiste in the first few seasons because as a girlie who grew up feeling INCREDIBLY unfeminine appearing#it was such a breath of fresh air to see a storyline following a woman with typically masculine physical features and personality traits#not only that but to also have that character go through typical female issues ranging from crushing on your colleague to domestic abuse#thru and thru coach beiste felt like a representation of me on the screen#my big takeaway was “it's ok not to fit societies ideas for what is deemed 'feminine#“youre still a woman#“youre still loved#“youre still valid”#and then they made Beiste trans#which in and of itself isnt a bad thing and i dont knock trans representation#but juxtaposed with a character who canonically had a story arc about still being valid as a woman despite how masculine she appeared?#didnt sit right with me#made me personally feel (at my young young age when i was watching glee in middle/high school)#that my representation was taken away from me and that truly masculine women couldnt actually be women#it also just didnt sit right with me (and ive seen this sentiment shared) that the actress.... isnt even trans and playing a trans characte#idk#it felt shoved in as a plot line#the change happened between seasons so there wasnt even a true focus on the transition#theres a lot of issues i took with it but again this is just me having my own take on it and how it made me feel when it aired#i think the rendition of I Know Where I've Been by Unique in solidarity with coach beiste was very beautiful though#and at the end of the day its just a show but man if i wasnt impressionable back then 💀#anyway#and that's what you missed on#glee#~°•*andy rants#~°•*lgbtq
