another fun thing is that we always go to my grandma’s on jan 1st with the family and every time she says she has oliebollen and appelflappen. every time I ask “grandma, do you really have appelflappen or are they appelbeignets?” and she assures me that they’re flappen so I choose those.
and Every Time they’re beignets again.
#elli rambles#sure maybe apple beignets *can* be nice but the thing is that she buys mass-produced ones from the supermarket#which are 1) incredibly soggy. 2) have like half the apple core still in them it appears#so uh. not the most tasty thing in existence#(for what appelflappen are see previous post; appelbeignets are basically round apple slices (typically with the core removed but apparently#the albert heijn doesn’t consider this very important) in fried batter)
