It's kinda funny how the My Little Pony: Equestria Girls subseries presents an interesting Ship (pun fully intended) of Theseus scenario, with the attempt to distance itself from the main series by introducing Twilight's parallel universe counterpart. The vast majority of the fandom, last I checked, rolled with it and started shipping Sunset Shimmer with Sci-Twi. I think I'm one of very few people who stubbornly clung to shipping Sunset with the version of Twilight she actually had significant personal history with, because IMO Twilight Sparkle and Sci-Twi are two very distinct characters and not so easily interchangable.
