#which I can basically replay in HD in my head in spite of only having actually played it twice

I just saw a post asking what people's #1 game recommendation was and I actually have another question:
What game had the most profound long-term effect on you?
#video games#there might be overlap I don't know#I just know that several games that changed my brain chemistry are not things I would necessarily RECOMMEND#for example:#Winter Voices#gorgeous#incomprehensible due to translation weirdness and being a bizarre game to start with#sometimes borderline unplayable due to the way it was built#the skill tree was a work of art#never actually finished#but it lives in my brain forever#it was lovely#it haunts me like a ghost#the other one is probably#The Longest Journey#which I can basically replay in HD in my head in spite of only having actually played it twice#because a lot of the imagery beamed directly into my brain and bypassed the actual graphics#I should replay it once I'm in NC and see how I like it now that I am a grown-ass adult#prior playthroughs were respectively middle school (I think) and college#I think I would recommend TLJ actually in spite of the occasional infuriating incomprehensible puzzle#because you can't die#that was one of the things that stuck with me#April is her own person#and you can't get her killed because she will straight-up take control away from you and run#and it made me feel very safe when I was a little sproglet
