R & I, if not done already <3
Fanfic Ask Meme R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
OH MAN. For better or for worse, reaching back in the timeline, Stephen King gave me permission to write and Nora Roberts gave me permission to write what I wanted and how I wanted. I still have On Writing on my shelf along with way way WAY too many Roberts books and I doubt I'll get rid of any of them for sentimental reasons.
For fanfic, I always get nervous to single authors out because I don't like knowing people might feel excluded, BUT justalittlegreen was the first author I read in this fandom and they are responsible for making me realize that if I wanted to write a long sprawling epic that spanned the course of the war and beyond, I absolutely could. I find myself recommending so much of their stuff.
There is also my dear friend Canon-Is-Relative, who helped me see characters in extremely new light. I feel like I became much less apologetic about writing what I want to write since I got to know them, and their stories are still the biggest comfort reads for me. I go back to them all the time. They're brilliant.
Fond and honorable mentions to clown_town_mayor and farawaystarsaway for being authors who I also reread frequently because they remind me that I can write what I want and who I want, even if I'm getting super silly or super filthy with it, and that I don't have to feel like I need to apologize for it.
[EDIT] I FORGOT THE OTHER QUESTION FORGIVE ME I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
Unabashed polyamory and queerness whether it's historically accurate or not, just absolutely unhinged and unapologetic kink, breaking ancestral trauma, refusing to let go if it's still worth saving, vampire and werewolves, letting your body speak for you when your words cannot, healing from codependency rather than leaning into it, second chances, Sidney's Massive Dick, "I didn't know where else to go" scenes in the dead of night and the pouring rain, gender gender gender, finding each other again no matter how hard or how scary, changing even when you think it might break you because you goddamn know you can't stay the same and still live, and sex for the good of camp morale. I think that's a good list.
