reading about intersex and whenever doctors show their double standards for intersex and trans bodies without realising what they're saying I want to chew on my computer. do you even hear yourself? you're almost there you're spelling it out oh my god how can you present any of this as objective when. it's camrazy, they say the quiet part out loud and see nothing contradictory about it

#a lot could be said about adding the I in lgbtq #although I listened to a conference yesterday for a project #and the director of the project pointed out that the reason their government had accepted to #give them such consistent funding was because of the association between intersex and lgbt #but a lot of people doctors included are beginning to think of intersex as a choice or social identity because #they see it paired with homosexuality and trasexuality which are identity choices (you chose to be/to identify as gay etc)#but intersex issues are among other things body autonomy issues. just like trans issues so pairing the two is actually very useful #because society perception of each of them is a mirror to the perception of the other #so while they're not the same. when it comes to the political fight they very much benefit from being paired together #EXCEPT by being perceived as exclusively medical there can be more of a push back against stigma towards intersex people #whereas pairing them with intersexuality worsen the situation #but is that really an advantage (it's not)#Personal
