I read a fic where SQH can speak all the languages from PIDW because he created the world and doesn't even realize that he can do this. In the fic it's not even an immediate thing, but the longer he spends with someone speaking a different language or dialect he starts Learning by Osmosis TM. And I actually LOVE that idea. It could be that all the languages/dialects from PIDM were downloaded in Airplane's brain since birth, but because of The System shenanigans Airplane has no idea he can do this and he doesn't notice when he starts speaking another language. Or it could be that once he meets someone that speaks a different language/dialect the System starts downloading it in SQH'S brain (without telling Airplane), so the first time Moshang meet Mobei doesn't understand him. Or Mobei is speaking the same language that cultivators speak, but either by the time Mobei wakes up or the end of the week SQH spends nursing Mobei back to health, SQH already speaks the same language he does, so from then on that's what they speak to each other. Which would be fucking scary but also impressive. Not only because it would give an edge to SQH's work as spy, proving that he was not lying when he offered his service to Mòbei-jun, but also: How unnerving that this random CQM discipline knows your mother tongue? Something that only Ice demons are supposed to know. How did this fucker learn this if Mobei barely speaks to him! add to the hilarity SQH doesn't know he is the only one that can understand what Mobei says (when he speaks that is), because of course if SQH can speak his language why bother "speaking human"? Bonus: SQQ is driven insane by how SQH switches languages.
Sometimes, I think about the world of PIDW having multiple languages and about Mobei-Jun not even speaking the same language as Shang Qinghua. Let's say that Airplane Bro made an offhand reference to ice demons having their own language, and therefore accidentally implied that Mobei-Jun actually learned a second language from the original Shang Qinghua.
The funniest part is that Moshang having even less ability to communicate in the beginning might somehow actually make their relationship better, if they're so entirely dependent on physical cues. (Or worse, of course, because Moshang can always make a situation worse.) Also, I think it would be funny if it took at least several days for Shang Qinghua to realize that Mobei-Jun isn't just being silent because he's refusing to speak to a "lowly human", but because Mobei-Jun genuinely has no idea what Shang Qinghua is saying.
