Top 5 Rodrigo moments (either the play or the opera doesn't matter)

i am a dirty cheat so you're getting twice as many and also me unnecessarily justifying each choice because i just dont know when to shut up. im putting it under the read more cut because it's really fuckin long sorry lmao

so in no particular order i guess (except for the first one which is definitely at the very top of my list):

1. play. the entire last scene with Elisabeth. im so boring about it but this is my favourite scene in the whole play. i could talk about it for hours, analyse it line for line, it's amazing. it's his fall from grace, the only moment in the entire play when he's completely emotionally naked and vulnerable - he's not quite like that even with Carlos. it's his last confession, his death rites, it's the defining scene for this character. there's everything there, and on top of all that, there's a delicious sprinkle of some good ol' Fear Of Death. it's amazing and it always makes me ugly cry - also Elisabeth calling him out on his bullshit and him just bluescreening there for a moment... i can't stress enough how much i love this scene (and the relationship between Rodrigo and Elisabeth!)

2. play and opera. The Restate Scene. i don't think i need to elaborate on that lol (mind you, this also involves the beginning of that scene in the play, where Philip is not yet present, there's just Rodrigo and Alba - who's visibly so irritated by this twink's bitching like 'omg you're literally getting an audience with The King Of Fucking Spain because he Specifically Asked For You, maybe you should act a little more grateful, you insolent brat, i swear to god, kids these days smh' because it's just fuckin hilarious)

3. opera. The Auto Da Fe Incident. i do love the play's equivalent of this scene too, i love it so much. but. there is something about him disarming Carlo in public (while that horrible reprise of their fRiEnDsHiP motive plays in the background, screaming crying shaking every time i swear) and immediately after - kneeling at Filippo's feet, presenting him with Carlo's sword AND getting a title upgrade???? right in front of Carlo? Elisabetta? literally EVERYONE??? it's amazing. prolly the worst day in Rodrigo's life (while simultaneously the best day in Filippo's lol).

4. play. the scene when Carlos gives him Eboli's letter and he just fuckin. tears it to pieces lol the moment is just hilarious to me jshsjssgdk

'so you wanna show this letter to the queen?'

'fuck yeah i do'

'ok. may i see it again? just for a sec'

'sure, here you gOH MY GOD'

on one hand it's just hysterical lmao on the other - it very nicely shows play!Rodrigo's controlling nature and the fact that he may love Carlos more than anything, but he still will manipulate the hell out of him. i also love how he yells at him but then immediately softens after Carlos's dramatic display of throwing himself onto the chair and the 'too well I know thou lovest me no more 😔' idk i just love this entire scene a lot. i love them.

5. play. the scene when he convinces Carlos to give him his letters. it's his second scene in the play after the Restate Incident (the first is another scene with Elisabeth that I also really really like). I also love Carlos here a lot, both of them honestly. The fact that Carlos is so preoccupied with Rodrigo having an audience with his dad that he entirely forgets about Elisabeth for a moment. and Rodrigo who's suddenly so flippant and sure of himself and it drives Carlos crazy because of The Implications. Rodrigo, again, getting a little mad at him and not bothering to hide it (i said it before but i love how play!Rodrigo will not hesitate to yell at Carlos when he gets too... uhh... Carlos-ish; opera!Rodrigo is only ever kind and loving with him and while it melts my heart... i do like my man being a bitch). and then the final moment with Carlos throwing himself into Rodrigo's arms, crying, being like 'my father could never make you betray me, could he? not my father, Rodrigo... 🥺😭' and running dramatically away while Rodrigo is left there, standing with that letter in hand, like 😐 what have i just witnessed

6. play. the entire prison scene. This is a stark contrast with his previous scene, which was the emotional breakdown witnessed by Elisabeth. here, he's much calmer. the whole thing is beautiful and heartwrenching obv but there is this one - not even really relevant - line, when he asks Carlos to just. sit down with him cause he's just so weary. and idk it just makes me so 🥺 my man has been through so, so much in such a short time, this scene is the moment when i feel all this tension and the emotional turmoil finally quiet down, and it leaves him fuckin exhausted. he has accepted his fate and he just wants to rest and spend these last moments with Carlos in peace and quiet (and he never quite gets that in the end). also the fact that that stupid Badminton Incident has been weighing on his conscience for so many years, is just. ridiculously heartbreaking. which brings me to my other favourite moment in that scene (there you go, Sofia jrhdksdh).

im sorry but it's hilarious. i always feel so bad for laughing at this but. come on.

also, im honestly a little obsessed with how different opera!Rodrigo and play!Rodrigo's deaths are. the play is definitely more tragic to me because it's so much more abrupt and quick and desperate. Posa genuinely thought he would have more time and it makes me wanna bang my head against the wall. the shot comes before Rodrigo manages to tell Carlos whatever it is he wanted to tell him, as he mentions earlier (this is another detail that's making me go insane, something i will never get over), there is no time for confessions or maudlin words or anything really personal. it's just. bam - too quick - escape - the queen knows all - over and out, bye-bye. absolutely fucking heartbreaking and ive just made myself sad, great.

having said that. opera gets a big big star because it's just so fucking beautiful, and Rodrigo deserved to die peacefully in Carlo's arms, and because there is this one line that absolutely destroys me and it fits Rodrigo's character so well and I actually wish it was there in the play too - the famous di me non ti scordar (and when accompanied by that fucking dio che nell'alma reprise.... fuckin. screaming crying shaking just kill me already).

7. opera. his first scene with Carlo. i don't think i need to say anything about it. it's just the gayest fucking thing and it's so tender and beautiful and dramatic. i love love love it. opera!Rodrigo is also so warm and kind and loving to Carlos from the very beginning, especially when compared to play!Rodrigo's initial 'what the hell Carlos you're being pathetic af rn' reaction. also that fucking duet slaps so much. it's just the best.

for the record though, the play does get a huge star for:

a) The Badminton Incident and the entire story of Carlos and Rodrigo's origin which is fucking hysterical ngl and Rodrigo's reaction to it which is just hilarious too. he's just so embarrassed and wishes dearly Carlos would just stfu <33 (and the - a little too much on the nose lol but still heartbreaking in the end - foreshadowing... damn)

b) that one exchange that goes sth like

"if one tear that gives me relief means to you more than my father's favour--"

"more than the entire world"

it's just. 🥺 but overall. I'd say this scene is much more one of my Carlos-favourite moments in the play than Rodrigo's per se.

8. play and opera. the Not-Really-Killing Eboli Incident. they both happen in very different circumstances in the opera and the play and I love both. the opera is just badass tbh, on both Posa AND Eboli's side ('fuckin kill me bitch, do it, *Joker voice* come on, i want you to do it, hit me, HIT ME'). also Carlo gets to witness this one and i love how this night gets just worse and worse for him lmao also the music is AMAZING, easily my favourite part of the opera (especially the trema per te moment GOD). in the play it's much more horrible though, Rodrigo is a total mess there and he is really fuckin desperate and does not know what to do. opera!Rodrigo doesn't kill Eboli because it's not all that necessary then, because he still has hope and god will inspire him (bless lol). play!Rodrigo doesn't kill Eboli because he can't bring himself to murder her for what he perceives to be his own fault - if someone has to die, it will be him. so it's also THE moment he decides to Do The Deed and sacrifice himself for Carlos (this entire scene is also what basically causes Eboli's change of heart... which ultimately does nothing in the play lol im really not a fan of play!Eboli). granted, play! and opera!Rodrigo's situations at that moment are different; opera!Eboli hasn't really done anything yet at that point and I guess Rodrigo kinda underestimates her then which, well, sucks to be him.

9. play. the scene when he gives Carlos's letters to Philip. i love this scene, i love this cunning, manipulative little bitch so much. i love how he has Philip wrapped around his little finger while still letting him think he's in charge. i also really love Philip's entire Situation here ('you're MY bitch and i want the whole world to know that uwu i love you btw mwah <3333') but this post is about Rodrigo. anyway, it's great (and goddammit, Lerma...).

10. play and opera. the scene with Elisabeth and Eboli in the garden. i love this one for different reasons - in the opera, the che mai si fa nel suol francese trio is, again, one of my favourite few minutes out of those 4 hours of Verdi's masterpiece, the music is fun and the entire situation is hilarious, i love Rodrigo and Eboli's whole dynamic, i love love love it. the more fake-ass smiles from the baritone and the mezzo involved, the better :))))))))) and, yes, im soooo boring about it but. the relationship between Posa and Elisabeth in the play makes me feel so warm inside. she is so excited to see her bestie, and then they do that silly little flirty bit which I always go insane over. i love them. also bonus points for the english copy that i own that has Rodrigo deliver a sick burn on Eboli in that scene, haven't seen that exchange in any other translation. also there's yet another Hilarious Rodrigo Moment there that I love - the moment when he's talking with Elisabeth about Carlos and she says something that mildly suggests she might care about him a tiny bit and Rodrigo immediately jumps up like

'so you wanna see him, do you? if he were here, you'd totally allow him an audience, right? :D'

'wait, what? what's going on'

'too late, here he is, tadaaaaa' *Rodrigo doing jazzy hands while Carlos jumps out from behind a bush, fanfares playing, colourful serpentines and confetti falling from the sky*

Voltron and the Hero's Journey through the Major Arcana of the Tarot

«The journey of the hero is the oldest story in the world. As the basic structure, it is woven into myths, fairy tales and legends that tell us how a person sets out to accomplish the great work. It is the story behind all these stories, which to this very day are always told in the same way under countless names in all languages and cultures over and over again.

The journey of the hero is the archetypical pattern of a range of actions woven from these primordial images. This is why, despite its many variations, the journey and the image are always so strangely familiar to us. They always tell of the quest, the adventurous search for the treasure that is hard to find, and are composed of elementary components.

Yet, as often as this story has been told, as many collections of fairy tales and myths as it may fill, only once has it taken on a complete form as a whole in pictures – and this is in the 22 tarot cards of the major arcana. However, not only are the archetypical events illustrated in these motifs, many connections between individual stages become transparent in the structure of the cards. Their meaning for our path in life becomes comprehensible on the deepest level»

0. The Fool

The very beginning of the story, but by no means the moment since the beginning of the first episode. The story comes to its first stage when the future paladins, and for now completely unaware guys from the Garrison, get inside the Blue Lion and go into the unknown. The Fool depicts a person taking a step into the abyss. The one who doesn’t know where he or she’s going. The one who doesn’t know whether they’ll fall, whether they’ll step on a new ledge or take off. This person simply performs a somewhat thoughtless action - and sets off.

Then the paladins get to the Castle of Lions. There they meet another new phenomenon – literally a new race. Their consciousness expands when they learn that there are other races, other planets, that war is going on in space.

The Fool depicts the unknown, events when a person can’t even imagine what awaits him or her next. And so the paladins - they have no idea what awaits them further.

Also, many of them don’t have the necessary skills, and absolutely for everyone the piloting of Lions is absolutely new.

At the very first stage, they still don’t learn anything, they just try to do something, in the hope that it’ll work out.

Our heroes don’t yet have an idea of what purpose they have. But they will know this. Later.

1. The Magician

The second stage of the path and development of the paladins.

The Magician depicts a person that considers him/herself practically immortal and god-like. A person that is capable of a lot, the one who has an unlimited number of talents (the paladins definitely have individual talents) and thinks the whole world as one big playground. The main problem is that in spite of all the abilities and power, this person isn’t omnipotent and won’t end well without a proper training.

Paladins follow the path of The Magician, gradually mastering Voltron, starting to reap the benefits of their actions. They help, they save, they do a lot, they move their own way and, obviously, consider themselves the real saviors of the universe. They don’t know yet that their power will end where the strength of someone else begins.

2. The High Priestess

In the events of the series, The High Priestess finds several manifestations at once.

The High Priestess herself carries mystical experiences, secret knowledge, secrets that are carefully hidden, but will still emerge in the end. It has many meanings, but we need only a few.

The first correspondence to this card is Allura, possessing the gift of Altean magic, which is hidden deep inside her. We remember this from the episode when she gave new life to Balmera. But this moment will reveal itself later. In another archetype.

At this point, it’s only the power itself napping in Allura. She remains aloof from the battles of the paladins, maintaining a more passive position. Her potential is hidden inside, waiting in the wings. And it will come.

The High Priestess card is constantly revealed in the plot. Through secrets that pop up unexpectedly. For example, through a story about the past of Zarkon and the Galra.

In my personal opinion, this can also be attributed to the moment when the paladins decided not to act «in advance», but by some cunning, using Teludav. The secret may be the meeting of Keith, Hunk and Acxa inside the stomach of the Weblum, as no one knows Acxa yet. As well as revealing that Haggar is an Altean. She also fits the archetype of The High Priestess, but not as much as she fits the card that’ll be shown next.

3. The Empress

The archetype of The Empress is the archetype of Mother. The Mentor and the one who cares, who is willing to help. She is the inexhaustible source of all life, our creativity and our ability to embody something. But it is also a development of the situation, a period of abundance and good luck.

And this is again the archetype of Allura. However, she manifests herself as The Empress not so often as the plot requires. However, this is her arc of personal growth. It should be so.

The most important manifestation of her as The Empress, which can even be called the first, is the healing of Balmera. It was then that power began to awaken in her, which in the future would make her the real Empress, which would give her a lot. Moreover - in the future she’ll show herself as The Empress... with the help of Lotor. Because the Empress always needs the Emperor nearby.

In terms of the plot itself, these are all those moments when the paladins conceptualize something, when they seriously think about what’s happening. But the most important thing is a period of abundance for them, a period when they succeed and it seems that it will always be this way.

The highest manifestation of The Empress is Honerva. She’s both a mother and a ruling figure, who rules from the side, as if from a shadow. She has the power to create and great talents. After all, she’s a scientist. Exploring the matter that the Empress represents is her work. Also, in the future she’ll literally possess unprecedented power, Altean magic. As Haggar, she’ll still remain the Empress, but turned into a negative, like the inverted position of this card. The inverted Empress is a trick, a desire to rule over men, such a woman doesn’t care about her children and her family. A great embodiment of the archetype in action.

4. The Emperor

Under the card of The Emperor are all the rulers, people who have power, as well as those who adhere to serious rules and restrictions. Also, under this card are those who are ready to fight to the end, until their death. Those who have a certain cruelty and coldness. The Emperor is a regime and system that erases the powder of those who don’t correspond to it. He’s conservative and adamant, and it’s not easy to appeal to his heart, despite the fact that he’s inclined to impose his point of view, to teach and control. He suppresses any rebellion in the bud.

In other words, we smoothly come to the fact that the entire race of the Galra, in the form that it exists in most of the episodes, goes under the card of The Emperor. They have strict rules, many, even the most insignificant offenses are punishable by death, and their system works like a clock under the control of their ruler. The leader’s word is the law, the one who doesn’t respect the leader will meet his end. Stability is also part of their lives. Their emperor didn’t change for more than ten thousand years. They’re used to it. They’re used to a lot of things.

And then we go to the obvious personification of the archetype of The Emperor. That's right, to Zarkon. He’s so consistent with this card. Not only is he literally an emperor in his empire, but if before the Rift he was just a serious ruler, a leader capable of holding everything in his hands, then he combined the worst features of the Emperor. He’s a despot and tyrant who doesn’t care about others. He only adjusts everything for himself - with the help of his Empress, Haggar. He strives for even greater power, crumbles under himself everything that meets in his way. Races, planets, his own kind, his own son.

I must say, in the story itself, The Emperor literally means a meeting with Zarkon and a battle with him.

At the same time, we have Lotor, who’s partly an archetype of the Emperor, but not completely. He has both negative traits of this archetype and positive ones. And this is far from the only part that makes up his character. We’ll talk about this later.

5. The Hierophant.

This card means a lot. Both a spiritual teacher, and connection with religions, and traditional actions, and any organizations, all sorts of serious things.

One way or another, in the plot this card is displayed as the beginning of the diplomatic activity of the paladins, all their communication with other races.

You can add the Blades of Marmora to The Hierophant, because they’re an organization that’s very difficult to get into, it’s devoted to underground activities and is associated with information - that is, with knowledge.

Equally important are the negative traits of The Hierophant, which also find a response in the plot. The purity of faith, party, teaching, blood, race - this is its professional headache. Its worst trait is complacency, intolerance and exceptional conviction of its own righteousness.

Lynching, the search for enemies of the people, the fight against infidels, the witch hunt, the tribunal, the auto da-fe – this is its gloomy bottom or black peak. Actually, this we definitely meet in the plot, and more than once. From the side of Allura. From the paladins. From the liberated races. This topic we’ll see many more times.

Another thing is that not everyone is ready to poke The Hierophant into its failures.

6. The Lovers

The card, despite its name, which could warm a shipper’s heart, is not about love. Well, it can be about love, but not in this case.

It may mean a situation of choice, not necessarily related to love. Then it means that one way or another we’ll have to make a decision, decisively and irrevocably, without leaving any loopholes for ourselves and taking on certain obligations. The Lovers depict a bold decision made by your heart. This is an internal knowledge of what is good and what is bad for you personally, which can’t be faked or deceived. You can’t listen to it, you can pretend that you don’t hear and don’t know it, you can act in defiance, but its tone doesn’t change.

In fact, the entire Keith’s story arc goes under this card. And the point is not in his possible romantic relationship.

The fact is that from the very moment he found out that he was a half-Galra, from the moment he began to do something with the Blades... a choice began to arise in front of him.

To take a step towards what really attracts him – the Blades, life with the Galra, inner freedom...

Or to stay with the paladins, in a place that he doesn’t like, but which he «must» take. As we all remember, he made a choice by the heart. He followed the call to work with the Blades.

Choices often confront heroes during narration. But these choices aren’t always truly right.

7. The Chariot

This card is a movement, it’s a pure impulse. At the same time, it’s control over one’s life, a clear understanding of what one wants and what needs to be achieved. Also, various journeys and adventures pass through it.

In fact, under The Chariot card, Lotor and his actions pass in many ways. Because he knows what he needs to do, he knows what he wants, and achieves this in all possible ways. He drives his chariot confidently, rarely doubts anything, and at first he succeeds a lot.

However, the farther the plot, the more we see that The Chariot doesn’t always go in the right direction and sometimes Lotor still loses control over it. This happens when it’s revealed that he built ships secretly from Zarkon. In general, very quickly he passes from a state of triumph and regular victories to a state where it’s difficult to do anything and he’s forced to rush to wherever his eyes look.

In part, The Chariot is also part of the character of Lotor, who’s used to keeping everything under control. At the same time, he’s not just a harsh Emperor, he’s an inspirer, he’s a traveler who never stays in one place and is always open to something new.

On the part of the paladins, The Chariot is their whole journey. Their entire movement is largely chaotic, albeit with an understanding of what needs to be done. They don’t always hold control, and then it carries them away - it carries them into serious, very serious problems.

8. Justice

It’s a very important card. It connects the relationship between action and consequences, taking responsibility for their actions, comprehending social laws, and the ability to make informed decisions. In other words, everything related to karma and responsibility is here.

And this same card is really important for the plot, for the development of the paladins. Because they often acted without thinking about the consequences, relying only on spontaneous, impulsive impulses. There are a lot of such examples, they go through the whole plot, but let's take a few.

The first meeting of Lotor at the paladins took place under the direction of Keith, and he certainly doesn’t realize the lesson of Justice. He’s not used to following the rules, he’s not used to commanding, and all his actions will shout at them in the future - Lotor throws their Lions in all directions like kittens. If he would like to - he would easily kill them.

In many ways, Lotor’s interaction with the paladins goes under the flag of Justice. More precisely, its non-compliance.

The paladins are going to give the prince into the hands of Zarkon – and immediately receive the consequences of their incorrect decision, that is, fraud and further problems.

But the most important thing that our heroes do, which very strongly comes around to them in the future, happens in S6. On the part of Allura, this is a belief in the words of Romelle and an instant decision to punish Lotor, on the part of the paladins – it’s the decision to fight Lotor. One way or another, in the future, their wrong actions will be scourged by the Earth, which, due to their loss, will be captured. The empire is fragmented due to the disappearance of Lotor – and these are also serious consequences.

It’s difficult to say whether the characters learned a lesson in what Justice provides. They at least tried.

And you probably would have understood the whole point if... yes, yes, right, if not for the broken S8.

We’ll return to this topic. Because the amendments that were made to the plot... contributed to its complete destruction.

9. The Hermit

A card of self-development, immersion in oneself and the study of one’s own abilities. The card is also associated with receiving magic gifts that will help the hero fulfill his mission.

One way or another, it’s this card that suits Allura.

She not only differs from the others; the further in the plot, the more distant she is from the others, and the more she plunges into self-knowledge to understand what exactly happens to her, who she is and what she needs – not for everyone around, but for herself.

A gift comes to her through Oriande, when she comprehends her essence in many ways. Then, a «teacher» comes to the rescue – in this case, more likely a «guide», who is Lotor. He could instruct her and help her get to the state of the Empress, which she needed so much. But the story didn’t complete the training of Allura. The Hermit’s path hasn’t been completed. And this is another fail of the changed plot.

Also, this card suits Keith. His choice has already been mentioned earlier, but one way or another, he also went through internal growth in order to find his real self. His Galran self.

Also, the path of the Haggar-Honevra is important. Because she passes through The Hermit at a time when she gradually regains her memories and herself. She again remembers herself, her personality, her son. And she also receives gifts having passed through Oriande.

The development path goes absolutely for all characters. I described only those that have a serious impact on the plot.

10. Wheel of Fortune

I like this card. It carries the inevitability of development, random events, it helps to accept oneself, and also reminds us that everything will end one way or another. That’s why you need to continue to move on and seize the moment. But the most important thing is fate and events, especially influencing what’s happening.

In fact, the most significant events in the plot take place along the Wheel of Fortune. This is the victory of the paladins over Zarkon, then – the battle of Lotor with Zarkon and his victory over him, the rise of Lotor as emperor, the disappearance of Lotor and the capture of the Earth. And also other events... that were supposed to be, but didn’t happen. For example, the return of Lotor. The salvation of the universe is real, not what was provided in the series. One way or another... development stopped and sticks began to be inserted into the wheel.

But its influence doesn’t become smaller.

11. Strength

This card depicts reconciliation and integration of opposites within the hero: male and female, mind and emotions, instincts and rational principles, consciousness and the unconscious.

This card follows all the way of Keith. His decision to be with the Blades, the fact that in the end he became a better leader than he was at first. Because he was reconciled with himself. Because he found strength in himself.

This is also the path of Allura. Its very important part, which was supposed to be decisive. This is the alliance of Allura and Lotor. The way they would balance each other, complementing, improving, not by force, but with the help of soft influence. Strength is never about physical strength. This is primarily strength of mind and gentleness at the same time. The ability to tame the beast, which doesn’t allow to move on.

This was clearly an important development in the fate of Lotor. Because he contains the Galran teaching, their eternal «victory or death» is fixed in his mind. And that bothers him. This doesn’t allow him to fully reveal. In the future, he would surely be able to come to a harmony of the Altean and Galran principles in himself. There was no opportunity. This opportunity has been missed.

Allura also had to cope with her aggressiveness and intolerance, to come to a merger of the two parts. Well. Partly she did it. But because of all the same interference in the story – not to the end. Development hasn’t been fully completed. She didn’t come to harmony in her soul.

12. The Hanged Man

Important card. Special card. It carries a loss of meaning and purpose of the path, awareness of hopelessness in the face of future death, readiness for self-sacrifice. Everything connected with the voluntary sacrifice goes through this card.

Well, the plot has everything connected with it.

If the Galra go under The Emperor’s card, then under The Hanged Man’s one there’s the entire Altean race. In the plot, they’re in a suspended position – in a colony, with the danger that they’ll be found and destroyed, as well as with great willingness to sacrifice their lives for the good of society. Voluntary sacrifice is what they do all the time. Since there’s every reason to believe that the Alteans readily went to possible death when Lotor called for them, this fits even more precisely into the concept of The Hanged Man.

Ulaz, who literally sacrificed his life to help the paladins, also suits here.

The same card suits Allura. And also – Honerva. Not surprising, given that they’re both Alteans. Their sacrifice at the end is a sacrifice for salvation.

Unnecessary and stupid sacrifice, but still we have what we have.

13. Death

15. The Devil

And most importantly... there are even three events in a row: this is Romelle's story, the battle with Lotor and the understanding that Shiro had been a clone for a long time.

In general, there’s nothing to say. Some events of this card led to a successful resolution. And some destroyed it all. That's why it’s The Tower.

It leaves nothing behind.

17. The Star

...well, something still remains, and that’s good.

The Star card is hope in its purest form. These are dreams and fantasies, a certain fragility, which may eventually manifest in life, or may not appear. It exists and doesn’t exist at the same time.

Hope really shines on the paladins throughout the seasons. Moreover, it shines both to Lotor and Honerva.

Everyone has different hopes and dreams, but one way or another, everyone has the belief that they will succeed in doing what they want.

18. The Moon

And again, we have a mystery card. But it’s much deeper, it’s the mystery hidden so far that only few could reach. Secrets of The High Priestess are always revealed, but secrets of The Moon – almost never.

Also, this card is responsible for fears and wandering in captivity of illusions. And for deceit too, which is important.

This card mainly refers to the situation with Lotor and the colony. This is a dangerous secret that shouldn’t have surfaced, which created a huge amount of fears – in just a few seconds – and destroyed everything. But much more important is that under this card goes... Romelle. A dark horse, in the words of which there are too many suspicious omissions, and even more in her behavior. A snake hiding under a pretty appearance, pretending to be a victim and a fool. She suits The Moon. And now her secret would have been revealed in the future... if not for the changes in the plot.

I'll still be disappointed if they go for "Evil Renperor" because I'll wonder why Star Wars, a franchise where the villains are decidedly un-subtle and which has had a consistent message of compassion even for your enemies, would make Kylo a sympathetic villain in the first two movies, show him not doing some of the worst thing he could've done (Why didn't he shoot at Leia, for example?) and yet ramp up the evil in the last movie so we would root for his death. It would be so inconsistent.

Well, that’s the unfortunately good question: if Disney-LF haven’t perchance bitten off more than they can chew in this trilogy. On the one hand they created a villain so naturally sympathizable with it would be against all the messages of compassion to kill him off, on the other a character too complex to make him into a pitiably mockable repentant sinner on a light side auto da fe - and yet on the other they framed him into an esthetic so weighted culturally, historically and politically that for many it would be immoral to generalize the compassion he evokes. By using practically the same villains as the last time, they put themselves in a situation where, if they want to give the saga a satisfying conclusion, they’ll have to put their money where Lucas seems to (I’m not saying actually did) have put his words only. RotJ’s ending is interpretable as to whether the point was fighting evil empires only and Vader’s redemption was in sacrificing his life to help overthrow one or or if the point was Luke’s journey into an understanding of compassion old jedi lost ages ago, which in turn allowed Anakin to rediscover his own humanity - but epix’s ending can’t have both without sacrificing some of its dramatic value.

I really, really think they’re going to put their money on the compassionate message and, though it’s highly likely I’m giving them too much credit, the hitherto black and white depiction of political conflict was meant to put the audience in a sithy absolutist perspective that will become undermined in the last episode. Compassion means literally co-feeling, which in turn implies discovery of our selves, our humanity, in other people - also, if not particularly, in its ugliest form, just as Luke only saw himself in his father after giving in to his fury. I don’t bash against the attitude that says well, I believe in redemption, I think everyone deserves it but, tbh, that’s not what compassion is all about, it’s not about an abstract ideal, it’s about the essence of humanity.

Which in turn makes me really hopeful that they won’t give us consciously (yet at the same time incompetently, which really makes me wonder who exactly are we sympathising with) evil renperor but rather go the route of a misguided idealistic despot (again, I find it interesting that on some cards of late they used this exact word to desribe him - despot is a pretty neutral term, compared to dictator or tyrant, desribing a mode of rule rather than its character: every tyrant is a despot but not every despot is a tyrant, so to speak), accompanied by the stormtrooper rebellion and, though perhaps I am asking too much, maybe will even show some diversity among fo officials. I also can’t stop keeping up hope regarding that bit of compassion that the sequels are pretty clear Kylo Ben still has in himself. Hitherto we’ve only seen him act against people he had personal (though more or less far-fetched) grudge against, now he put himself in position of responsibility for people he would have to stretch really far to believe they’ve hurt him. Yes, he’s on a quest to destroy the past but my question is what will happen when he’s faced with an actual choice: his let’s-call-it ideological goal and a life of a person only very remotely standing in the way of that ideology. We know he wasn’t fine with the destruction of Hosian system. I think his quest to destroy the past will basically go like Luke’s burning of the jedi tree, though maybe he’ll actually succeed at burning some huskiest husks himself (like slavery).

The bottom line is that I’m not really fond of overly political interpretations of Star Wars but, tbh, if they do want to maintain their bit of simplified political wisdoms, then simply evil fo tyrannizing everyone while helpless innocents don’t know what to do or massively join the only good resistance is the exact thing they shouldn’t do. This is the subtle genius of the prequels: liberty dies in thunderous applause. Having a choice between freedom and safety most people will choose safety - and that on its own doesn’t make them evil to be banished once the war is over. If Star Wars really want to show their simplified wisdom, the most interesting path is to make resistance guerillas that third parties will be geuinely afraid of and will willingly subjugate themselves to fo in fear, the way western democracies compromise their ideals out of fear of terrorist attacks, many people honestly not knowing any better the obvious heroes turn out to be the greatest threat in western news, I said it.

Assassin's Creed 2016 Movie Review

Movie Review: Assassins Creed I am a huge Assassins Creed fan, so when I first heard of this film I felt worry and enthusiasm towards it. My worry spans from the very first video game to movie series that I watched and that was Resident Evil. Now, if you have played the Resident Evil games then you know exactly how different the movie series was when compared to it. The characters from the games made brief appearances that often felt out of place while others had been completely different from how they are in original canon. So you can see how I still held worry despite my rather optimistic look towards it. I even watched films that the past actors and actresses played in, along with the Kurzels works. It made me feel better when going out to buy it and I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The Cinematography: With the Kurzel's I expected nothing more than to see scenes that were aesthetically pleasing; that were both beautiful and stunning to look at while hidding details everywhere. That is what Assassin's Creed gave us. The past scenes were all stunning: the details from the auto-da-fe sequences, the smoke that was covering cities from the burnings that were constantly taking place, the moor influence that was everywhere it should have been for Al'Andalusia, etc. Then we had the modern day scenes, and all of those held such a nice contrast in lighting when compared to the past scenes. Abstergo was given the proper clinical, controlled setting that I was expecting to see it have and the many different rooms we are shown remind me of how Abstergo looked in the games. The Music: Jed Kurzel is a talented composer and as someone who has spent the last seven years of my life performing contemporary music trust me when I say that I judged this part of the film harder than I did the rest. As with every movie I watch I listened carefully to the ost, seeing if it corresponded correctly with the scenes and characters it influenced around, and Assassins Creed did just that. The music corresponded with the cinematography when parallels were made and the music transitioned through the past and modern scenes. To top it off the music itself was something in the realm of the games and that was a huge golden star for me. The Characters: This casting was filled with so many actors and actresses that are already well known around the world that I was amazed that it went beyond the main cast. Not only that, but the extras for the modern scenes gave us diversity and female guards. A small detail, yes, but one I have been wanting to see in the games for so long. Onto the characters, I am going to start off with Callum Lynch, as he is our new main character. As a character Callum had his flaws, he was emotional, and for that I give the writers and producers a cookie. The psychological aspect for a child to go through what he did transitioned into adulthood as you would expect it to and we really get to see that with the time shift of what happened to him and who he became. As a child he discovered his mother murdered by his father, who is shown about to kill him, and after that we are left with what came after. What came after was a broken individual; as a child he went through the system multiple times, ended up getting involved with gangs, before bordering on the line of a serial killer with how he killed a pimp(something we only get to truly delve into with the novel). We then of course end up at the point in the film with someone who tells themself that they are ready to meet their fate, yet at the same time we see that demeanor fault away at his execution. Through the film we do get to watch a character move back and forth with sides and what he is willing to do, and that fits in with who he is. He lost stability as a child, chose a path in life that took him to his 'death', only to end up with two new paths to take; hesitation on which is understandable for who he is as a character. Then by the end of the film we get to see who he is becoming. Note when I say who he is becoming, because his development is far from over. Now, the rest of the characters, is going to go through a speed round with my review. Alan Rikkin: A man we know very well from the games, I knew that this would be Ubisofts Albert Wesker make it or break it moment. They ended up making it, Jeremy Irons played the role well. We got to see a character that is a manipulator that doesn't try to cover it up, he was blunt, he was to the point, and that is how I expected Alan Rikkin to be. However in the end I feel like they made the wrong choice. Spoiler: Alan Rikkin's assassination I believe was too soon. An assassination in that moment of the film though was needed. Sophia Rikkin: I have no issue with Marion Cotillard as an actress, however her character fell flat for me. To me it seemed that they wanted her to be sympathetic while being a character that you do not like or trust. The thing is though is that the deleted scenes of her made her sympathetic. I watched her there and it made me think of her to be someone who is emotional beneath her professional exterior. However those scenes were just that: deleted. Looking at her without it shows us a character that manipulates, but ends up coming off as hypocritical when she acts as if she hasn't been doing that this entire time(that scene coming down to the final discussion with her and Alan Rikkin). It made her part of the ending to be a mesh of emotions and decisions for two reasons. The first being her discussion with Alan Rikkin; she had been doing the exact same thing he had been only to call him out as being a liar. As if she didn't know that all of her research would come down to that very moment? The second then goes to her interactions with Callum. Throughout the film it is obvious that she is manipulating him, that he is the ticket to completing her life's work, and then at the end she goes back and acts as if she is being sympathetic to her test subject. She knows that Callum is there to kill her father and take the Apple, she allows it to happen, and then she makes the decision that she now needs to kill him and ensure that the Apple is in Abstergo's hands after it is already too late. It's too late for her to make that choice when the reason for it spans from her inability to make it when she needed to as a character. As I stated above, an assassination was needed at that point, but in my personal opinion it should have gone to Sophia instead of Alan. Not for her fall out as a character, but for the symbology of justice finally coming for the test subjects in her program. The Test Subjects and Abstergo Guards: We didn't see them expand as characters in the film as much as we did in the novel. However, the movie managed to give us interesting test subjects with ancestors that we already know about. Moussa, Lin, Nathan, and Emir all had potential to be developed on into the series while still having that interesting quality that they had been given. We also have McGowen, played by Denis Menochet, who I got the impression on that there is definitely more about him than what we were shown. The only critism I have with this section goes to Emir and Nathan's death. Justin Kurzel believed there to be too many characters, which would have been fine, if he didn't decide to kill off characters for that reason. The Spain Brotherhood, Aguilar and Maria, and the Creed: I love the Spain Brotherhood. The moor influence, the diverse weapons, the hidden blades that were very advanced for their time. We get Aguilar de Nerha, fresh from being a novice, and Maria, his mentor, who I could watch a three hour movie on. The both of them were nice contrast on Assassins: one leaning more towards his personal ideas and emotions while the other was strict to her beliefs and trust placed upon the Creed. The Creed was also an interesting thing in this film for how seriously it was taken with this Brotherhood. They still held onto the strong tradition of removing ones ring finger and they repeated the Creed almost ritualisticlly. Why? Well to me it seemed as if this Brotherhood was rather isolated, which could explain thsir reasons for doing what they did and acting as they did. As for the other Assassins, as short lived as they may have been on screen, they were badass. Ellen Kaye and the Lynch's: Ellen Kaye was the type of antagonistic force that leaves you creeped out. She wanted Alan Rikkin out of the picture even if it meant taking out the Animus Program; a stark contrast to how we normally see Abstergo's big wigs, yet realistic in nature. She was also very influential with Sophia which I wish they had expanded upon. Mary Lynch was interesting and I applaud them for making her the one that the bloodline comes from when in the games it came from Desmond's father. Her character was in my opinion more well written out than Joseph's, and I would like to think that it comes from her being the one we will most likely see again. Joseph Lynch was another story all together though as I found him to be a character that harbors many regrets, who isn't all that sane anymore. Killing his wife, almost going through with the choice to kill his son, the years spent inside of Abstergo, it all just adds up to the moment where we see him years later. The Game Influence: The game did hold an influence in this movie that was strong enough that it worked out well. The way they fought, the moves and skills that were done, all came straight from the game. The Leap of Faith, the Bleeding Effect, the Apple of Eden, the hidden blades and weapons seen from past games were all done in a way that fit in with the film and they didn't simply place those things in as Easter eggs either which is a major plus for a video game movie. We also have the Animus 4.3/5 that is made up of three parts: the Arm, the Archive, and the Animus itself. All of which were practical for the setting of the film and for a film itself. The robes worn came straight from the game and the modern ones we see at the end were such a nice call back to the past that I honestly prefer them over wearing a white hoodie(speaking practically). All in all, the film had wonderful cinematography and an ost that matched up to that seen in the games. The characters had their flaws, some could have been shown more, but considering that this was meant to be a start I think they did good for that. Never too late. Never.

Because of my beautiful, amazing daughter Cailleach Liath McMurchadh:

(I apologize for the length. In writing about depression, describing the avenues out of it started working me out of the one I’ve been in today. It’s long, but I promise you, it is valuable.)

Some days are THOSE days as soon s as you wake up. Why? Dunno. I think I had a bad night’s sleep. I remember being very annoyed when Adorable didn’t just wake me up for affection, but when I tried to stop, used her claws to get my attention. You know, it could just have been that? My mood, on awakening, was sour. Didn’t want to get out of bed, even though it’s the first sunny day in a week. Really considered how my day would go if I just LAY there.

So... I’ve told people that sometimes, I can do things just by act of will. Or maybe an auto da fe. I can step back, be logical, be rational, and sct against my own wishes for what I see is the longer view. In short, I made myself get up. Decided to contradict the powerful malaise keeping me in bed. I know that if I can just make it across the room, sit upright, open the door, and let in the sun and warmth, the recuperation can begin.

That’s where I am now. For any of you who struggle with sourceless depression, with major depressive disorder, you know the effort of will this took. And you know what it feels like, having made the effort, and astoundingly, THINGS DIDN’T AUTOMATICALLY FIX THEMSELVES!!! I mean, right? I did what I was supposed to and I feel a but less crappy, but still overall crappy. So what do I do? Go back to bed? Take it out on others?

That’s where the long view comes in. There is one thing I have in myself that took me many years to find, and that is: trust. No, I don’t feel good YET. Yes, I still want to go back to bed. But the bigger part of me is saying to that part that’s hurting, “You know we’ve been through this before. You know we’ve done this before. You know I can lead you out of the wilderness. You KNOW we can do this.

TRUST ME.

I have said that depression doesn’t have to have a trigger. Mine, today, does, but it’s not the cats. It’s a personal thing I can’t say without embarrassing someone else. I have the virtue (this time, my dear daughter, just this time) of knowing I am right. I won’t feel “good” until it’s resolved. In the meantime, I can make it as good as possible. That is a technique that has taken years to develop. Right now, that is what I am doing. I acknowledge my hurt. I give it its due. I do not pretend it isn’t real or valid.

There are strategies, though, some long, some short. Taking time to appreciate the sun and warmth, a quiet day, treasuring the gift of sight and hearing, and letting myself dream of ways it might get better? That’s a long strategy. Not getting mad at my cat for napping on my computer, letting him do it, cherishing what a cute boy he is and how lucky I am to have him? That’s the short strategy, and it founds the long one.

No, I don’t feed myself bullshit platitudes or pretend things are better than they are. I do have the ability, which I have earned, to see and emphasize the better options that will get me out of this pit. Writing this is part of it. It’s therapy. Yes, it’s helping already. Is it done? Can that alone do it? No—but I have a library of experience and options on which to rely that will finish the job.

Right this moment, my state of mind and emotion is a great leap better than when I started. That’s the point. Not every depression is the same. Today’s strategies won’t be enough every time. If it’s stronger or worse, there are other strategies. But here is THE truth, kids. Even if you don’t believe it, keep it, remember it, and tell yourself this until it’s true:

You have what you need to get out of it. You may not know it, but you do. Rack your brains looking for possibilities, and when one fails, try another. When something works, don’t just be relieved. TAKE NOTES. This is SCIENCE. Take note of every variable you can think of, notate how each variable played off the others, notate what worked, in what way, to what extent, what arose to try to counter it, what factor did you have inside that you could use to strengthen it, identify other factors waiting in the wings that could also be useful, measure the responses of those around you and the effects they had on you...

I am dead serious, kids. This is SCIENCE. You have to think hard and be constantly aware. You know how I say, “It Takes Work.” THIS is the work. THIS is what you do. You’ll exhaust yourself. You’ll groan when you think you’ve come to the end, only to have one thing (an emotion, a reaction) show you there’s more to come. But dig into it, dive in like it’s the hottest, freshest, most delightful pizza you can think of. There is something you can only learn by doing, and when you catch it, it will *always* be there for you, and it is this:

The joy of battle.

Winning the little battles is joyous. Then you string them together and use the collected fierceness to win the big battles. When you win them, you never lose them. Take pride in every small step. When you feel your ferocity, cherish it and nourish it. Keep it with you at all times.

So, yeah. Be the most ferocious scientist you can imagine. Go to battle with joy, reason, logic, and sense. Use every question as a sword. Let your belief in yourself be your shield. The more you fight, the stronger they get. Don’t do it with hate! Leave hate far behind! Instead of hate, defiance. Determination. Instead of anger, ferocity. Deep inside you is a warrior. Feed and arm your warrior. One battle at a time, friends, and remember, store, *catalog,* every single victory. Be amazed at the library you build.

You will do it.

America’s self-imagined custodianship of human rights and freedom epitomize problems associated with fake prophesies. That Americans now rally behind the latest battle-cry of the Republic, ‘Make America Great Again’, indicate that they are indifferent to the fact that their country has been barnstorming across the globe these past six decades killing vast numbers of innocent people with the objective of creating a pre-eminently militaristic empire to strategically control the skies, oceans, their market-share plus control of space. In implementing these belligerent objectives, the US has repeatedly unleashed auto-da fes to destroy many countries across the globe who failed to fall in line.

Foremostly, America’s firebrand passage through Muslim countries clearly illustrate how a neophyte culture with racist baggage can implode the nation’s reputation, leaving it bereft of respect and credibility. This now appears to be what is happening in America. The two-tiered (or three) aspect of this enterprise requires closer examination.

It would appear that ‘greatness’ in the American context amounts to nothing more than upholding vulgar white-middle-class racist values as the measure of excellence, with fake ‘principled’ notions of cultural superiority leading the chase. When the dogs-of-war were unleashed to wreak havoc, pillage and plunder on the habitats of millions of hapless people across the globe, the silence of so-called conscionable America was deafening.

Violence had become an American staple and the voice of the Peace Movement is all but mute. It’s now impossible to ignore the fact that the three tiers of state, the top tier, the middle tier and the lower tier…the three classes…collude in a program whose singular use of power expresses an unwavering desire to ride the gravy train to the hilt and devil take the hindmost.

These three classes, battle hardened and indifferent to the chaos caused by their bloodthirsty military have been blindsided by their own government. There is the sense that the flag… the stars-and-strips…has become the nation’s birth certificate and each person’s birth certificate a little bit of a collective ‘stars and stripes’ denouement that entitles them to extrajudicial considerations and the right to be proud of their dubious record. However, finding one’s niche in this hierarchal edifice is another matter altogether.

The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times are missives of choice for the middle class in matters relating to America’s monopolistic capitalist system. Predatory incursions into foreign countries resulting in bloodshed are routinely explained away in false-flag gibberish or in some other fashion to justify the actions of the government. This business of doing business attitude exists to negate everything else and the middle-class appear to have no qualms with this scenario. The sub-text here being, as God’s own people they believe that they have the right to expect ‘mana-from-heaven’ to rain down upon them from all quarters of the globe.

For the working class however, tweeting along with the paymaster appears to be an act of convenience. But when the music stops, as it most certainly will, the birthright question (all men are equal) will inevitable come into contention again when the issue of inequality needs to be confronted. However, the next generation may be more strident should they once again find themselves being herded back into a holding-pen position to await casino-capitalism’s next ‘flurry’ at the roulette table.

But irony of ironies, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal etc. are merely institutions that employ smoke and mirror tactics to conceal the nastiness of a two-tiered (or three) system that entails subjecting the public to a game of musical chairs, whose prime objective is to unseat a competitor each time Wall Street chooses to play its favourite game of ‘pass-the-stock-market-parcel’…the one designed to consolidate wealth in fewer hands each time it is played.

Musical chairs, also known as Trip to Jerusalem, is a game of elimination involving players, chairs, and music, with one fewer chair than players. When the music stops whichever player fails to sit on a chair is eliminated, with a chair then being removed and the process repeated until only one player remains. Alas! The origins of the game are unknown. On the other hand, we may safely assume that Karl Marx or Antonio Gramsci are not its authors.

So, the questions we need to ask here are, have Americans taken to wearing masks to hide their lack of conscience, like their President wears his hairpiece… do their masks, like Donald’s hairpiece, only make an appearance when orchestrating auto-da fes, or when administering sanctions designed to economically incinerate…or starve… apostates?

Or should we defer to another Donald…Donald Rumsfeld…for insights into America’s moral stature. “We don’t know what we don’t know. There are too many unknowns too many factors that we may not have yet considered,” said he. Which, when translated might mean, ‘Life is like a game of musical chairs and America has the right to take occupancy of the limited number of chairs available or our armed forces will be forced to use terror to procure knowable ends that are ultimately unknowable but desirable because they make us feel great.’

Narratives fed to the public by special interest groups come as hybridised versions of Hollywood cypher-speak-gibberish and are passed off as truths to the public for the purpose of indoctrinating them. A continuous repetition of false declamatory statements praising American exceptionality pour from the media to reinforce fake news. If there were a Noble Peace prize for hypocrisy, it would surely go to America.

America, the so-called leader of the so-called free world is awash with fallacious narratives that are put in place by corporate entities to implement a two-tiered (or three) system that strives to gain support in the public domain by using fearmongering tactics to implement its propaganda in every way possible. Fake narratives ceaselessly eat into public consciousness while cleverly concealing their real purpose, which is full spectrum Mafioso dominance. Think of the numerous corporate ploughshares that have insidiously penetrated a country near you!

As we now live in a technological age that has provided humans with the ability to engage in nuclear Armageddon, we can’t help but notice how worse-case scenarios abound. Some even suggest that evolution has run out of steam. Mutually Assured Destruction doctrine (MAD) is a minefield without canaries and we, in the lower tiers, are left painfully aware of our impotence on discovering that we are without a voice in the decision- making process. We are required to seal our lips and accept the reality that nuclear buttons now hang over our heads like the sword of Damocles.

We are constantly reminded that states exist, super and otherwise, their nuclear dogs-of-war straining on the leash in readiness should lines be crossed. We are repeatedly reminded of the fact that it is now possible to cause enormous casualties and destruction to civilian populations anywhere in the world by simply pressing a button from thousands of miles away.

We can no longer feel free because we can no longer free ourselves from the shadow of Dr. Strangelove. The more bloated the military budget becomes, the deeper we sink into gloom upon realizing how our anxiety increases exponentially with increases to the military budget.

Knowing that unknown knowns have consigned us to carceral spaces where modern-day Caesars busy themselves toying with their nuclear buttons, suggests that the middle and working classes have become prisoners in an ill-defined reality. The knowledge that capitalism engenders fear through its ‘security’ narrative has now become the problem. The ideology that keeps capitalism frothing at the mouth has produced its own evil doppelganger…a pedagogic Promethean pariah responsible for global degradation, its power ever more lethal in a world that has learned to fear its score card.

Four in ten Americans sometimes face what economists call “material hardship,” struggling to pay for basic needs such as food and housing, according to a new study from the Urban Institute. Even middle-class families routinely struggle financially and are occasionally unable to pay their bills and more and more ordinary citizen are beginning to feel that they no longer have a part to play in a secular agenda that has become the property of the military establishment.

So, the problem now is that civilians seem unable to deal with facts. A shut-the-fuck-up mentality now exists to banish issues that relate to questions relating to social criteria and the people who write and whistle-blow the inequities of their government. People are relentlessly exposed to facts, but as civilians, are incapable of dealing with them. Facts appear on electronic screens ad nauseam to reveal how citizens have become captive to a static reality that uses fearmongering as a way of castrating public dissent. Facts that indicate that only the elite have skin in the game are everywhere in evidence.

At the Colosseum level…the elite level…the grand referee in the orange hairpiece keeps tweeting dealership gibberish while the classes in the lower tiers are expected to remain on standby to applaud this kind of hubris. Many are amused but few are chosen…unless you are an exponent of the rules of Republican Likud or are Likud Democrats building separation walls to keep Zion in and Allah out, per medium of a nasty game of musical chairs…a la currency wars!

Secondary development is fine, but at what cost to that primary narrative within us that depends on freedom of expression? It is ironic that many of the ‘learned’ amongst us strategically position themselves between the people and the elites, thereby limiting the potential for development within the masses. Traditionally, the policy of our rulers…shepherds… was to herd the ‘sheeple’ into the shepherd’s fold, lest he or she escape the soporific effects of propaganda or holy writ. To our great dismay, most of our teachers to this day do little other that look in the rear-view mirror for inspiration.

Justifications for releasing the ‘Dogs of War’ on civilians who can’t defend themselves are inevitable meaningless. For example, the American-Zionist agenda which manufactures fear for the purpose of manufacturing enemies for the purpose of manufacturing wars, has of itself become a war on truth. Sadly, the reason why investigative reporting became so highly selective is that in the US, truth had lost its place in the established media. The fact of the matter is, white-middle-class Americans respond with pique when confronted with criticism of their values. Sadly, exposing the injustices perpetrated on Muslims, Palestinians or Black People is a matter of little concern…a poignant example of what happens to complacent people when they turn away from the truth.
