-------------------------------------------------------
Ross once again kept his promise and returned to the compound with Dr, Sarkissian a few days after Wandaâs return, to continue with the testing. He informed you that you wouldn't be cleared of any suspicion until he got some answers, therefore wouldn't be cleared for active duty. Both Steve and Tony made it known that it wasn't his decision which pissed him off and made the testing that day even more brutal. You made Wanda promise that she wouldnât be there for the testing. You think sheâs seen enough of you in this state to last her a lifetime, even if she didn't know the extent of what was happening. So, you made Pietro promise that he would take her out of the compound for the day.
You thrashed around the hospital bed trying to escape the pain that rattled your body. You couldnât scream or protest in any way. All you could hear was the boiling of your own blood and the sound of the heart rate monitor beeping at an alarming rate. You felt like your heart and brain were about to burst. You could also feel Tony wearing his gauntlets on each hand, desperately trying to pin you down.
âYou said this stuff would immobilise Agent L/N!â you hear Ross yell at the Doctor as you try to catch your breath. The doctor was right, you had never been through that kind of pain before. Not even with Strucker.Â
âIt does. You've seen the results yourself, Ross.â The Doctor retorted, her eyes darting from Ross to you.
âThen how do you explain this?â Ross asks, motioning towards your violently writhing body.
"My guess is that Agent L/nâs body is starting to become immune to the effects of the serum I created. Their metabolism is burning through each dose, meaning that the substance is no longer taking effect.â The Doctor explained, through gritted teeth, clearly frustrated with the results.
Ross was determined to push through the barrier that your mind had built but you were even more determined to block his advances. You couldn't allow to find out that Dr. Sarkissianâs serum had worked and that you had seen more than you had revealed. You were still trying to figure it out yourself.Â
âAdminister more serum doctor.â Ross demands.
âNo!â Tonys voice booms throughout the med bay and you are hopeful for a break from the doctor and Rossâ tortuous methods. âFor God sake, can we discuss this later and help Y/N? I can hold them down much longer!â The Doctor takes another syringe from her pocket and administers it to your IV. Your body immediately relaxes, and then starts to heal from the trauma it had just endured. A grateful breath releases from your lungs. Ross walks up to your side and looks down at you, a scowl residing on his face.
âI know you know something L/N. I donât care how long it takes or the methods I have to go to find out what happened to you, I will find out one way or another. Youâre an enemy of this country and Iâm going to prove it.â With his final word said, Ross leaves the room. The doctor takes his place next to the bed, just as Tony helps you sit up.
âAgent L/N, if you know anything, itâs in your best interest to tell Ross everything you know. He wonât stop with the testing until you tell him what he wants to know.â Pleads the doctor. Her tone isnât caring or delicate, instead it elicits a venomous tone which sends a cold shiver down your spine.
âIâve already told you what I know.â you tell the doctor, effectively ending the conversation there. The doctor then turns to leave without a word.
âRoss is going to want some answers sooner rather than later Y/N,â says Tony. You turn to face him and watch in confusion as his repulsors shrink back into the bracelet on his wrist. âNanotech. Cool, huh? Could barely hold you down though,â You shake the confusion from your head and instead ask Tony to release you from the cuffs, but he refuses.
âExcuse me?â you ask in irritation. Tony stands there with his hands on his hips and you just know that heâs about to ask you a million and one questions.
âTell me whatâs going on and donât say nothing because I know you better than that Y/N."
âThen believe me when I say that itâs better that you donât know.â Your fists clench at your sides, trying to keep your anger at bay.
âDonât give me that shit. I know youâre lying to Ross about what you saw and now with Wandaâs sudden release from the Raft? Iâm pretty sure the President just doesnât give a pass to a weapon of mass destruction.â You automatically fight against the restraints at Tonyâs words, but they keep you in place.
âDo not call her that.â You demand angrily. Tony raises his hands in apology but continues that subject further.
âY/N you know me, and you know you can trust me.â
âItâs not about trusting you, Tony. You know that I do. Itâs about keeping you safe, keeping everyone, I care about safe. Iâve already lost so much. I canât lose anything or anyone else."
âY/N, I gave my address to the Mandarin on national television. I literally flew into space with a nuclear bomb.â You roll your eyes at his last comment. It was before your time with The Avengers, but you had heard about that more time than you can count because he never shut up about it. I can look after myself,â reasoned Tony. âI know youâre just letting Ross do this to you so you can keep his focus on you while other things are happening elsewhere.â
He wasnât wrong about that. Bucky was currently at CIA headquarters in Virginia, sneaking around and trying to find any information that related to you. You let out a deep sigh and thought over your situation. You know Tony can help you in more ways than you can help yourself. Even with Wandaâs powers, there was no guarantee that youâd be able to find out everything that your brain had hidden. You know thereâs answers out there, most likely out of the country. Tony can help with that.
âFine. Take these cuffs off me and Iâll explain everything.â Tony does just that and you explain everything that you didnât tell Ross and what Wandaâs powers allowed you to see. Also, how you secured Wandaâs release, opting to leave out Bucky and Pietroâs involvement. There was no need to involve them. You had never seen Tony laugh so hard at the President being caught in a compromising position.
ââŠand you donât remember ever being on the mountain before? I mean before the explosion.â Tony asks curiously. You shake your head and rub at your wrists and see Tony furrow his eyebrows, deep in thought. âYou know, when Doctor Sarkissian mentioned that you may have erased your own memories, it made sense to me. Clearly in the years you were missing, you may have been made to do some unsavoury things, so you wanted to erase those memories and like you never did anything.â
âBut both Maria and Bruce confirmed that there was no evidence that my brain was ever tampered or manipulated with in any way.â You counter, confused as to what he was getting at.
âThatâs true. But look at you Y/N. Dr Sarkissian just put you through an extremely painful test. One that directly links to your brain. I saw your brainwaves and heart rate while you were under and saw how much pain you were in. But look at you now, you look like you just had a massage.â
âYou know thatâs not how it is.â You tap your temple, and he nods in understanding at you silently pointing out that while the physical pain you feel will subside quickly, itâs the psychological pain that remains is what hurts the most.
âI know.â Tony admits in a guilty tone. âI just mean with the speed of your healing abilities, maybe you, yourself, found a way to stop the healing process even for a moment so you could erase your memories.â What could be powerful enough to stop your healing abilities enough to erase your memories? It would have to be damn powerful, and it made you curious as to whether it could stop your healing abilities all together. Something you wanted to visit again in the future if the topic came up again.
âI donât know anything that powerful, Tony.â You slump in defeat and lay back down on the bed as you hear Tony say that he doesnât either. Although your body had healed itself, you were still exhausted. You knew you wouldnât be able to sleep right now though. Sitting up and swinging your legs off the bed, Tony steps up and places a hand on your shoulder to stop you.
âThank you for telling me everything. I do recommend you tell the rest of the team, but I know how stubborn your ass is.â You chuckle at his words because you know heâs right.
âI hear you, Tony. If it comes to it, Iâll fill everyone in on whatâs happening. But until then, it stays between us, okay?â Tony puts up two fingers, swearing on scoutâs honour. He pats your shoulder and moves to let you off the bed. Just before you reach the threshold of the med bay, Tony asks where youâre going.
âTo blow off some steam.â You say as you continue walking, not looking back at him.
---
Despite the ache in every part of your body, your bandaged knuckles kept hitting the punching bag. Natasha taught you a lot of things and one of them was that when you felt like punching someone in the face that you shouldnât, it was always better to punch a bag full of sand. With music blaring in your ears, you wanted to tune out the sound of every single person in the compound and just stay inside your own head, alone. As you lay an assault to the bag and watch it swing back and forth, you find it difficult not to become more and more angry at the joke that your life was now. You were beginning to feel doubtful that you would find the answers that you desperately needed. Since youâd been back, the approach you had taken to finding them had been tame at best. You decide that maybe its time to kick it up a notch. Â You had already broken the law half a dozen times since youâd been back. Whatâs a couple more?
Keeping light on your feet, with raised fists, you skilfully dodge the bag as it comes towards you. You think about the events from earlier how Ross stood above you and pretty much told you that he would tear you apart to find the truth about your disappearance. To you, that sounded that heâd probably break a few laws of his own. You know having the President under your thumb would be useful for a while, but itâs useless if Ross goes against CIA protocol. Youâre pretty sure what he and the doctor are doing is illegal anyway. You suddenly feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up and you know its because someone has started walking up behind you. You keep your back turned to them as you keep swinging, listening to their footsteps get louder the closer they get. Spinning your wrist as quickly as you a can, a metal fist stops you as another flesh one grips your shoulder to steady you.
âCareful doll, you could really take someoneâs head off with that swing.â Bucky says, amusedly. You release the breath you were holding and feel the anxiety you were feeling dissipate.
âSorry Buck. Howâd it go in Virginia?â
"As well as expected. If Ross or anyone at the CIA has any information about you from the last three years, itâs not on any database there. He could be keeping any information on his person, but I found nothing, Y/N.â You drop your head with a sigh, feeling a migraine starting to form at the base of your skull. âThey do have personnel files on all of us, as expected. But itâs all the basics. Name, date of birth, abilities. Everything we did when the Avengers were working officially with S.H.I.E.L.D before I came and screwed that up.â You smile at Bucky and his reference to his time as The Winter Solider and bringing down the corruption within S.H.I.E.L.D.
I did find something interesting about this Dr. Sarkissian though.â You raise your head up in interest. You had no interest in the doctor. âThe CIA keeps record of every employee that works there, past and present. Even records of outside contractors who CIA agents work with. Everything gets documented. She has her own file, of course, but it was sealed.â
âRecords can only be sealed by the director and deputy director of The CIA. Go figure,â you say in annoyance. âShe hasnât given me a good feeling since the moment I met her. Sheâs definitely hiding something. Iâll figure it out.â Bucky hums in agreement.
âI did find one file that he had on you. It was hidden behind a heavily encrypted firewall, but I managed to bypass it. Why didnât you tell me that you were being practically tortured by him and his doctor?â You look away in shame.
âAs painful as it is, itâs one of two options that I have right now that may help me find out what happened to me.â You had told Bucky that Wanda had helped you but not the details of what you had seen. He didnât push you to tell him and you were grateful for that and he understood that you wanted Wanda to rest. â Thanks Bucky. Nothing else?â Bucky shakes his head. You run your hands over your face in frustration at another dead end. As much as you wanted to keep Rossâ focus on you so you could find out what you could with the help that you had, you know itâs time to take the matter into your own hands. Itâs time to find the one person who always seems to have the answers to everything, even if says that he doesnât. You make a mental note to call Maria to get some answers on the whereabouts of your old boss. Before you can thank Bucky for his help, Pietro speeds into the room in the blink of an eye. Â He smiles widely and you canât help but return the smile at his infectious attitude.
âBetter get cleaned up, Y/N.â says Pietro, pointing to your bloodied bandages.
âWhy?â you ask suspiciously.
âTony just told me that heâs throwing a party tonight to welcome you and Wanda home," he says excitedly. You clench your jaw and take a step towards him, but Pietro is always too quick for you as he speeds over to the exit of the gym. âI promise it wasnât my idea. I do listen to you, you know.â You roll your eyes and give him a small smirk that lets him know that you arenât mad at him but at Tony. He beams in relief and walks out of the gym. You turn to Bucky.
âYou got any nice clothes?â
---
âDo we have to?â you ask angrily, not bothering to hide your pout You were sitting on the end of Wandaâs bed, arms crossed defensively, dressed in a white dress shirt and black dress pants while she sat at her dressing table applying makeup. Wanda assured you that it was okay for you to get ready in her room and not in the spare you room had been occupying since your return. You hadnât been able to enter the room you and Nat had once shared.
âLook, Iâm not that thrilled about this either, but I wouldnât mind getting a little drunk and dancing. God knows itâs been a long time since either of us have had some fun, Y/N.â Wanda pointed out, turning to you. Her rosy cheeks highlighted her face, and the ruby red lips were plump and full. Her long strawberry blonde locks, twisted into curls, framed her the delicate features of her face. A small smile took over your face at how beautiful she looked in this moment. Her smile matched yours and you know that she heard your thoughts. You raise an eyebrow in a silent request to stay out of your head, but she just smiles again and moves to the bathroom to change into her outfit.
You stand and walk over to the dresser and grab your tie and pull it over your collar, trying to decide on whether to wear it tonight. As you fumble with each side of the tie, the bathroom door opens and Wanda strolls out wearing a red dress that matched her lips and clung to all her curves. Your mouth instantly dries, and you find it hard to swallow. You instantly quieten your thoughts to avoid any teasing but decide its best to speak.
âWow Wands. You look beautiful.â
âThankyou.â Wandaâs cheeks flush red as she walks over to you. You tried to keep a respectable eye on her as steps up to you and removes the tie, throwing back on the dresser. âLooks better without it.â You turn to look in the mirror and you instantly agree. You smile at Wanda in the reflection, and she smiles back, and in that moment, you feel a sense of happiness for the first time in a long time. She grabs your blazer and holds it out for you to slip yours arms and lifts it over your shoulders. You turn back to Wanda and feel the anxiety about the night ahead leave your body. She grabs your hand and leads you to the door before turning back to you. âYou ready?â With a deep breath, you nod and let her lead you out the door and down to the party.
---
As you walked through the entrance and into the party, with Wandaâs arm looped through yours, you were met with an eruption of cheers and applauds. The room was filled dozens of faces that you recognised and some that you didnât. There was a band in the corner playing a song that you could already feel your foot tapping to. You could hear Wanda laughing at your side just as a tuxedo clad Pietro sped up quickly to the both of you before quickly whisking her off to the bar. You couldnât help but laugh as you saw Wanda give you a silent plea to help her. Wanting a drink, yourself, you got to follow before a hand on your shoulder stops you in your path. You can already smell his expensive cologne.
âIâd apologise, but I wouldnât mean it,â says Tony, nonchalantly. You both make to the bar as the bartender slides two glasses of whiskey neat towards you.
âOh I know. But itâs okay. I think I needed this anyway. We both do.â You say with as you nod in the direction of Pietro and Wanda further down the bar, clinking their glasses and taking a shot. Tony chuckles and shakes his head at the twins before turning back you and raises his glass you. You clink your own with his and down the amber liquid in one swift motion. It burns your throat momentarily, but you donât grimace like Tony does.
âStill canât get drunk?â
âI can, but Iâd have to clear out this entire bar before any of it made a dent,â you answer, pointing to the multiple shelves that aligned the walls, all full of alcohol worth more money than youâd ever see in your lifetime.
âI may have a little something to help with that then.â hinted Tony. You raised your brows in suspicion, but he was already backing away with a smile on his face. âGo find Bucky, he has a little something for you. Iâm off to find Pepper.â He disappeared before you could protest. Leaning against the bar, you fully take in the scene of the party. The dancefloor is full of bodies all huddled into a mosh pit, something that wasnât your scene. You could smell the sweat radiating from it, thanks to your enhanced abilities. You tried your best to switch it off, along with you enhanced hearing. You didnât want to hear the nasty conversations people would surely have towards the end of the night. Sweeping your eyes across the room, you see Clint and Laura chatting animatedly with Bruce and Dr. Cho, Steve playing pool with Maria and someone you assume was Sam. Steve had mentioned his joining of the Avengers in your absence. You see Vision speaking to Wanda and Pietro at the bar, where you know neither of the two had left since you walked in. You see Vision subtly place his hand on Wandaâs shoulders when they both laugh at Pietroâs joke, and you feel your jaw tighten involuntarily. Tearing your eyes from the scene, you continue your sweep of the room until you find Bucky alone, tucked away in the corner, sipping from a glass. As you make your way over to him, you receive multiple handshakes and pats on the back, all of which you give a tight-lipped smile to.
âYou being anti-social? I never would have guessed.â You observed. Bucky gives you a silent laugh and does his own scan of the room. Heâs always on alert. âTony says youâve got something for me?â Bucky reaches into the inner pocket of his jacket and pulls out a flask and passes it to you. You screw off the lip and bring it to your nose.
âOdorless?â
âTasteless too. But it will get you drunk.â Buck says with a smirk and side eye towards you. You want to ask how but gets to it before you can. âI found it hidden in the bookshelf when I moved into Thorâs room after he left to off world for a while. I know it will get you drunk because I took a mouthful and it knocked me out for almost two days. Steve had to take me to Cho because I had alcohol poisoning.â You laugh loudly at that, but Bucky just playfully shoves you. Seeing no reason not, you take a sip from the flask and feel a warmth run through your body the moment you swallow it. Bucky takes his own sip and itâs like you see a light go off in his head.
As the night continued, you felt a buzz from Thorâs flask and had managed to greet and speak to everyone, beat Sam and Steve at pool while Bucky laughed at their pouting. You barely seen Wanda all night and wanted to spend some time with your best friend. You spot her once again by the bar still talking to Vision and sipping from a glass of wine.
Your legs moved faster than you could register, and you took yourself towards the bar. Â Wandaâs eyes light up at your appearance and she goes to welcome your arrival until you grab her risk, ignore Visions existence entirely and drag Wanda to the dancefloor. She giggles as she wraps her hands around your shoulders, and you take her waist. The beat from the music starts to vibrate your entire body and you feel Wanda start to sway her hips, forcing her to move with you. Â You pull Wanda flush against you and feel your bodies mould into one another. With each beat, yours and Wanda bodies move as one and when you look her in the eyes you see her pupils are dilated to the point that the green is barely visible. You and feel Wandaâs breath on your lips and the smell of the wine on her breath dancing around your nose. Your breath hitches as you see Wanda slowly lean in and before you can do the same the smell of Chanel invades your senses, and you immediately pull away from Wandaâs embrace. She frowns in confusion as you back away from her, your heart beating hard against your chest. Youâre grateful for the open collar your wearing but still finding it difficult to breathe. Wanda steps forward, concerning written all over her face but you put out your hand to stop her from touching you, instead sending your thoughts to her mind.
âIâm okay. I just need a minute.â
âAre you sure? Do you want me to come with you?â You can hear the concern even in your head. You force a smile but shake your head and exit the party to find the bathroom. Splashing your face with water to try and clear your mind, you lean against the sink and look at yourself. Your face is a pale white and the dark circles that have lived under your eyes since you returned are as evident as ever. The nightmares that plagued you every night didnât help with your appearance either. Flashes of the colours you saw in your memory retrieval, the suited man plunging a mirror into your neck, Wanda in her cell wearing the collar, Natashaâs face as she walked through the door in Berlin. The images havenât escaped you since you came back the compound.
The familiarity of the perfume only brought your nightmares to the light of day. Her perfume. Youâd bought it for her as a birthday gift and she wore it on every special occasion. Now the smell of it made you sick and beyond furious and you took that fury out with a fist to the mirror. You wince as you pull your hand back and pull out the shards of glass from your knuckles and watch as the blood pours out. You hear movement behind you and the door to the bathroom swings open and you see his face in the reflection but ignore his presence and wash your hands.
You try to exit the bathroom, but agent Campbell stands in your way but when you try to pass him, he put his hand on your forearm to try and stop you.
âY/N, please.â Campbell begs. You automatically grab Campbells wrist and push him against the wall and lift him off the ground by his collar. He splutters and struggles to breathe and tries to remove your hand, but you canât find it in yourself to care at the man that betrayed you.
âDonât you dare fucking touch me,â you growl, as you lift Campbell higher off the ground, his feet dangling. âWhat the hell could you possibly say to me? Your apologies are useless to me because they are bullshit. You tried to take me out. I trained you, taught you and that team everything you know, and you use it against me?â You push Campbell harder into the wall and you see his face start to turn pale at the lack of oxygen and his eyes plead to you to let him go, which you do. Campbell coughs violently when he collapses to the ground, scratching at his collar and tie to loosen it.
âWhat did you expect coming in here, Campbell? That I would play nice with you? That weâd just go back to being buddies? You donât get to walk in here acting like you didnât marry the love of my life and that my life hasnât been falling apart. Go fuck yourself Campbell,â you spit out.
âWoah, woah. Slow down. Iâm not married to Nat. Are you serious?â
âYouâre lying. I saw the way you looked at her. You also called her Nat. Youâve never called her that in your life. It was always Ms. Romanoff.â
Y/N, Iâm gay.â Your eyes widened in shock. That was something you didnât consider. âAfter you disappeared me and the squad started our own investigation as soon as we heard your body hadnât been found. We knew that something was up. We didnât find anything though. Maybe a few months later, I ran into Nat in a bar, and she was drinking herself to death. Iâd heard from some other agents that they had seen her there multiple times a week, just drinking until she blacked out. I tried to stop her and told her that you wouldnât want her to be like that, but she tried to swing at me. She was so drunk that she could barely stand. So, I took her back to her apartment and slept on the couch. I didnât want her to be alone when she woke up. When she did, she made me promise not to say anything to anyone and I never did. After that night we just bonded and became close friends. Sheâs one of the very few that knows Iâm gay. As for that day in Berlin, I was just following orders.â You stand there in disbelief as you hear snippets of Natashaâs life while you were gone and the downward spiral she had fallen into. You had no idea.
Thereâs an apology on the tip of your tongue but you canât bring yourself to speak. Instead, you pass Campbell, making sure to slam shove your shoulder into his and take yourself back to the party. Nothing has changed when you enter. Everyone is laughing, dancing and knocking back drink, while you feel the room start to close in on you, panic setting over your chest. Spotting the doors to the balcony, you make your way towards it, sipping heavily from the flask Bucky gave you. When the fresh outside air hits your lungs, you feel a calm wash over you and deep breaths calm your erratic heartbeat. The view of upstate New York looked beautiful and it nearly took your breath away until it actually did when a voice interrupts your peace and the perfume almost hypnotises you.
âHi.â The voice couldn't be mistaken. It was raspy and deep and still sent a shiver down your spine. You had heard it every day for years before you had disappeared. Taking a deep breath and clutching your flask a little tighter, you slowly turn around to face to the woman you once trusted your life with. God, she looked ethereal. A black body con dress caressed her voluptuous frame, full lips coated in a shade of blood red lipstick that matched the colour of her hair that framed her face. It took all your self-control not to drool at the sight.Â
âHello Natasha.â You kept your tone as neutral as possible. You saw her momentarily flinch at the use of her full name, something you never did but the movement disappeared as soon as it appeared. Her past as a spy could never be erased.
âHow are you?â You hear the sincerity in her voice, but you feel like sheâs asking the most stupid question in existence. You scoff, and open your arms wide and in a silent show of the obvious that youâre not okay
Iâm sorry.â You scoff again because you canât believe the audacity she has right now.
âFor what? Burning a hole in my chest or for getting married to someone that wasn't me? you snap at her. You see her clench her jaw and it feel guilty for a second but youre the one who was missing for three years. Not her.
âThatâs not fair Y/N. I told you, Fury wanted a face that you trusted to bring you in. It was the safest option.â Natasha whispers. You turn away from her, desperately trying to keep your tears from falling.
âThen he should've called Wanda,â you pointed out.
âYeah, that was a nice little display on the dance floor there.â Her tone is so thick with jealousy, that youâre offended of what her accusations insinuate.
âOh, give me a break. You donât get a say in what I do in any situation. Not anymore. Not while you have that damn ring on your finger!â you exclaim, your voice beginning to rise.
Nat sighs and looks down at her feet, twisting her wedding band in her finger. You can see the build-up of tears ready to fall from her eyes, but the Asgardian liquor makes you want to ignore them.
âYou know I buried you right? Consider that for one second.â
You allowed your anger to consume you because you didn't care anymore. You threw the flask as hard as you could and watched as it shattered the doors that led to the balcony. The heads of party goers turn towards the sound of broken glass spilling across the floor. Despite flinching before, Nat doesn't flinch this time, even when you take a step towards her..
âYou didn't come here to see how I am. You came here ease your guilty conscience. To see how you are. You know what you did. You feel it in your heart, donât you? Because I do. Every damn day i feel it, Natasha. I am broken! My life has been torn apart the minute I woke up in Berlin. My life was taken away from me and I donât have a fucking clue why So do not stand there and tell me you're sorry because I donât accept it. And the only reason I donât accept it is because I know for a fact that if it was you that went missing, if it was me who had lost you, I would have waited. i would've went to the ends of the earth to find you and the people responsible. And thatâs how I know that I loved you more than you loved me.â you accuse, pointing your finger in her face.
âWhat the hell is going on here?â Dr. Sarkissian walks over the broken glass, towards you and Natasha. You barely recognise her without her glasses and lab coat. Instead, she wore an emerald, green dress with her with her hair styled like Natashaâs.
âNone of your business doctor.â You kept eye contact with Natasha but were about to get a lot angrier if she didnât leave.
âIt is my business if you're yelling at my wife.â The Doctors spat at you, her tone cold and venomous. She wrapped an arm around Natasha, and you noticed her relax in the doctorâs hold. You visibly gulped and you know Natasha saw it. Your eyes flickered to the doctorâs ring, and it matched the one that laid upon Natâs finger. The courage and anger you had built up suddenly disappeared on the spot and you felt yourself beginning to crumble under the weight of your own stupidity. Natasha had always been able to read you like a book and you saw that she wanted to take a step forward and take you into her arms, but another set of arms wrapped around your own and held you instead. Â
âCome on, lets get out of here.â Wanda whispered in your ear. You allowed Wanda to pull you from the situation and before you knew it, you were in front of Wandaâs door. She tried to pull you into her room, but you stood your ground and shook your head when she frowned in confusion. You looked over your shoulder at the door of your old bedroom and decided now was the time to walk through it. As you enter, familiarity overwhelms you when you find the room exactly how you remembered it. Photos of you and Nat lines the walls, yours and her favourite books sit on the shelf covered in dust, small gifts and trinkets that youâd given each during your time together still sat on the nightstand. Walking to the dresser, you see remnants of your old life and decide maybe itâs time to leave your past with her behind.
A painful scream erupts from your chest as raise your fist and slam it through the dresser, shattering it beyond recognition. You rip the photos off the wall and throw them across the room, watching the glass shatter everywhere and continue to destroy everything in your path. Once you were done, the room was beyond recognition and with that you felt a sense of piece that the fresh air had brought you earlier.
âFeel better?â Wanda asks, standing in the doorway. You look to her but donât answer, instead reaching from the flask again and taking a large mouthful. You hand it out to her, but she holds up her own bottle of whiskey which she drinks from. She follows you back to her room and sits next to you when you take a seat at the end of her bed on the floor.
âSo, Natâs wife is your doctor? Thatâs so messed up.â Wanda blurted out. You laugh at obviousness of her statement, and she laughs along with you. You smell the alcohol on her breath, and you know sheâs more than a little tipsy.
âThe woman thatâs been torturing me for the last few weeks.â Wandaâs head turns so quickly towards you that you canât bring it in yourself to look at her. You didnât tell her about the pain you had endured during Rossâs testing. But you donât want to keep anymore secrets from her. You take her hand and hold it to your temple as you take her back to each time the doctor and Ross visited you and the pain you felt. She gasps as she feels the pain that you felt and when you open your eyes, you see the tears that threaten to fall from her eyes. Her fingers fall from your temple and rest on your cheek, which you lean into. She doesnât ask questions as to why you allowed Ross and the doctor to continue. She knows you need answers.
âI hate her, Wands. I hate them both.â Your voice cracks under the weight of your misery but Wanda only bring herself closer and places her lips on your forehead. âIâve always thought of myself as a happy person, but after all thatâs happened in the last few weeks, I canât help but feel utterly miserable every time I wake up. Iâm sad every day and I try to be the happy person I once was, but itâs so damn hard. I just feel so alone.â Wanda fully embraces you as she wraps her hands around your neck, and you pull her into your lap and cry hard into her shoulder. One hand of Wandaâs rubs up and down your back, while another scratches lightly at your scalp, soothing you as you try to control your sobs. When you gain control, you sit back and look up at Wanda who had been crying with you.
You wipe at both of her cheeks, and she does the same for you. As you both hold each other in a close embrace, youâre not sure if itâs you or her that leans in first but when your lips touch, you donât care. Wandaâs hands move to your neck and yours to her hips and you bring her closer to you as she tightens her arms around you. An experimental hand and squeeze to Wandaâs ass makes her gasp, allowing your tongue entry to her mouth. The both of you moan as the kiss becomes more desperate and needy and you feel Wanda reach for the buttons of your shirt starting to undo them. As Wanda reaches for the last button of your shirt, you pull down the zipper of her dress. As you both reveal yourselves, you canât help but stare at Wandaâs exposed chest. You always thought she was beautiful, but as she sits on your lap right now, she is but just a goddess that you want to worship. As if Wanda heard your thoughts, she launches herself at you and wraps her legs around your waist, kissing you hard.
Wanting to be more comfortable, you try to stand with Wanda still clinging to you but stumble, the Asgardian liquor to present in your system. You fall onto the bed on top of Wanda, her lips never leaving yours and continue your worship of her body. As you move your lips to her neck, a wild moan leaves Wanda mouth which prompts you to move your lips down her body. As the rest of your clothes are removed, both of your names are moaned loudly, and you end the night with your bodies intertwined.
Hours later, you wake suddenly, plagued again from the nightmares that haunted you. Soaked from head to toe in sweat, you turn to looked that the body that lies next to you, thankfully undisturbed. Wandaâs chest rises and falls so peacefully that youâre relieved that she isnât the one suffering from nightmares tonight. Moving from the bed, youâre suddenly bombarded with images of a face that youâve seen before but not one that youâve seen in person. At least not that you remember. A man with a horrible, red disfigured face, flashes before your eyes and a German accent echo in your ears. Youâve seen this man, but you need to confirm. Getting dressed and taking one last look at Wanda, you leave the bed and take yourself to the War Room.
As you bring up the files of each Avenger which contain their past mission reports, you click on Steveâs file. Going back to report archives as far back as 1945, you find the photo that you were looking for. The black and white photo sets a feeling of dread in your stomach, and you know youâve found the source of red that haunts your dreams.
âThe Red Skull,â you whisper.

I'm sorry that everyone keeps annoying you about Private Hire. I'm sure it's overwhelming having everyone come at you from all angles demanding it. They have no idea the time and effort you put into it and for free might I add. Just know (as I'm sure you already do) that there's no rush for it. Masterpieces aren't always made over night and the PH is exactly that. Take your time with it, write it however you want it be, put it on hiatus if that's what you need, even cancel the story all together if that's what it takes. Myself and heaps of people here will support whatever decision you make. You're an incredible writer. Just remember that đ
It does get really overwhelming, yeah, getting asked about it daily is probably one of the reasons itâs not out yet honestly because itâs just a lot of pressure now and this is not my job..
Private Hire is weird I guess because itâs technically a string of connected one shots, not an actual series so they can all be just read individually or whatnot. But then there is one Event that the first half of these one shots are leading up to and thatâs what people are waiting for so Iâm like âaaahh if we get to this point then I can write what I want for them more loosely!â But ahaha Iâve been BUSY and so technically even though itâs an AU, it doesnât need a full hiatus because itâs made to be a dynamic I can just write about until I get tired of it đȘ
I wouldnât call it a masterpiece (but thank you for thinking so), but it is my baby and I love those mob wives so much. It sucks that whenever I open the Google doc for it lately I just feel stressed out! But itâs coming and I am working on it, but uhh in my own time

It had only been a couple of days since you had visited Wanda and the plan to get her out was in motion. After explaining the plan to Pietro, he was in. No questions asked. All that was needed was to gather the evidence and since Bucky was a world renowned ex-assassin, he was the perfect popsicle for the job. As much as you wanted to do the job yourself, you had to keep Rossâ focus on you and away from The Raft. So you held up your end of the deal.
Right now, you were laying on a bed in the med bay, wires taped to your chest and temples, monitoring your heart beat and brainwaves. Two sets of vibranium handcuffs hung off the side of each rail of the bed, for your safety but you know itâs for Rossâ peace of mind. You have a feeling he's a little afraid of you. Although Bruce had already run the tests as Maria had said, Ross wanted to oversee while they were ran again and he brought in his own doctor like he said he would. Ross makes his entrance into the med bay along with a woman you donât recognise with Tony and Bruce on their heels. Steve, Vision and Clint had left for a mission earlier while Bucky and Pietro had opted to stay behind to offer you 'support'. You know Steve would've reluctantly agreed.Â
The woman following Ross is a wearing a white lab coat, horn rimmed glasses and has jet black hair but you notice a tint on green shimmering off it in the harsh lights of the med bay.Â
Her porcelain features almost mimic Natashaâs but itâs her eye colour that shocks you a little. Her irises pierce yours with a cold hard stare and it begins to make you a little uncomfortable. You only know of two other green eyed women but theirâs are soft and sweet. This kind of green is the opposite. Even in the light of the med bay, they do not show any brightness. Instead they show to have an elliptical pupil, like a snake and staring at it for too long makes you a little nauseous. Grey eyes pull you from your focus and Ross steps up to you with a sick smirk on his face.Â
âI held up my end of the deal. Now itâs time for you to hold up yours. This here, is Dr. Sarkissian. She specialises in neurology and specifically the retrieval of a persons memories. So she's going to run some tests on you, different than the ones that Dr. Banner ran on you.â
âThatâs great. Letâs get this over withâ you retort.Â
You donât care for this woman or what she specialises in. You just want this over with. Tony comes to your side and takes your hand in his and gives it a gentle squeeze.
âThis isnât going to be pretty. I saw the outline for the procedure and itâs pretty invasive Y/Nâ Tony warns gently. Did he suddenly forget the excruciating procedure that Strucker put you through, day in and day out? You know pain. Itâs literally apart of your DNA now.
âItâs okay Stark, Iâve been through worseâ you confirm. Before Tony can speak up, a skeletal figure steps forward.
âI can promise you, you havenâtâ says Dr. Sarkissian. She checks on the machine monitoring your vitals and takes a syringe and a vial of blue liquid from her coat pocket. You stiffen for a moment as some the of the past that you do remember, flashes before your eyes. Strucker and Dr List and their endless quest to make your body their puppet. But the way that Dr. Sarkissian looks at you with her serpent eyes, tells you that sheâs telling the truth. She fills the syringe with the liquid and with a tap to the needle, she injects the blue substance into the IV protruding from your arm. âYouâll start to feel the effects in a few minutes. It normally takes a few seconds but because of your rapid healing ability, your body will want to reject the substance.
âWhat exactly is this substance?â you ask. You mentally scold yourself for not asking before she injected it but being with Bruce and Tony, you felt safe.
âItâs my own personal concoction of Donepezil, Memantine, Namzaric and a few other FDA-approved drugs to treat memory lossâ she explains.
âFDA approved huh? Iâll betâ you slur out. You never were subtle when you were drugged which didn't happen that often but a large amount of drugs were needed when you were seriously injured. You vaguely remember the time your spine had been snapped in three places with you head rolling around your shoulders after having nearly been ripped off by a purple alien.
You hear your own voice and realise that your jaw is feeling heavy and your eyes are starting to droop. You slowly turn your head to a figure walking towards you and even though your vision is starting to blur, Tonyâs immaculate three piece suit never fails to shine through. He takes the back of your head in his hand and brings it down to the pillow.
âI got you, kid. I wonât let anything happen to youâ he whispers in your ear. You want to answer that the worst has already happened to you but you feel your entire body fall into a state of entropy. Your hearing hearing however, stays the same. Your heart rate monitor begins to spike and you can hear the shuffling of feet move around the room. What was the point of the handcuffs if you're being put into a catatonic state?
âNow Y/N, I want you stay as relaxed as possible. I know itâs hard because you canât move or speak but I need to tryâ Sarkissian asks. She puts her hand on top of yours and you notice that her skin is freakishly smooth and very cold. You can feel her pulse through her touch and itâs oddly calm. With not being able to shake your hand away, the heart monitor begins beep even louder until more feet start to move and Dr. Sarkissian removes her hand. You feel the warmth of another hand on your shoulder and you recognise it as Tony. His touch also allows you to feel his pulse, but its not the sound of beating, instead it comes as a whirring sound. His reactor. It brings you comfort and your body begins to relax against the bed.Â
âWeâre going to start now Y/N. Iâm going to guide you through this entire process so I want you to drown out all the noises you can hear and focus only on my voiceâ You do as youâre told and focus on the sound of your heartbeat. Itâs still being rather fast, too fast for a normal human. But after a few short breaths and a familiar red headâs face in your mind, it returns to its normal pace. âVery good Y/N. Now I want you to take me back to the last thing you rememberâ It takes you a moment to sort through the things you do remember. Sorting through your fractured mind, you find yourself back to the warehouse in Bulgaria. You suddenly feel like your brain is on fire and realise that is what Dr. Sarkissian meant about not being through worse. But you remember this pain well.
Fighting through the pain, you try to remember the mission objective to collect intel about Hydra locations around the world. You feel as if you're back in that very moment, in real time. Youâre seeing your past through your own eyes. You feel your legs take you from room to room as stealthily as you could, avoiding Hydra agents that were scattered throughout the warehouse. You could hear their heart beats and the small whispers being spoken through their comms. You could also hear the voices of your team mates on your own comms. Nat, Clint, Sam and Steve outside the warehouse fending off the swarms of Hydra soldiers and Wanda, Vision and Tony monitoring the situation from the skies.
You could make out the German being spoken and that the soldiers were moving the east side of the building, still looking for you. You wait for the foot steps to become more faint before you take another step but as the moment passes and you raise your leg to move, a huge explosion erupts in your ears and you're suddenly engulfed in flames and you feel the ground beneath collapse as you fall through the flames. As much as you're aware that you're in your own memories, you can still feel the burn and tear of your flesh and the shatter of nearly every bone in your body as you reach the last floor of the warehouse.Â
You can hear the monitors connected to your body start to go haywire as your body reacts to the trauma but the drugs that Dr Sarkissin administered wonât allow you to move.Â
âWhat the hell is going on?â Tony yells to Dr. Sarkissian.Â
âIt seems like Y/N is experiencing the trauma from that day. Take Y/N's hand and try to calm them. It worked beforeâ Sarkissian suggests. Tony does this and runs his thumb across the back of your hand and you recognise his calloused hands comforting you. The heart rate monitor slowly goes back to a steady rhythm and Tony sighs a breath of relief. Sarkissian directs her speech to you telling you to go back to the moment where you left off. You try your hardest. ignoring the pain in your skull and finally reach the moment where you're sprawled out on the bottom of the basement. You will yourself to ignore the pain of your injuries. You can slowly feel your bones begin to heal back into place but the warehouse is still burning around you and you can see the upper levels starting to collapse above you. You beg your mangled arm to let you reach for yours comms and call for help from anyone on the team. You hope they're looking for you. You know Natasha is. You couldn't even scream out if you tried. A thick cloud of smoke surrounds you and you could taste it in your mouth as it made its way to your lungs. After a few minutes that feel like hours, you feel your body start to fail you. Youâre not sure if you can die. You've always healed from your injuries after missions because you were given time to. But your body is burning faster than it can heal. So being unable to move or even scream for assistance, you welcome death like an old friend, closing your eyes, and picturing Natashaâs smile.
Before you can fully submit your body to flames, you hear the faint beats of a heart nearby. It takes everything in you to open your eyes to find the source, hoping to be reunited with your red headed love, but not even the powerful Black Widow can walk through flames. Instead you're greeted with a figure wearing what seems to be a fireproof suit. Protest is useless, as the figure quickly inject a needle into the burnt flesh of your neck and you immediately pass out. Your senses begin to go into over drive and the clear memories you were experiencing start to become distorted as flashes of deep red, purple and orange flash past your eyes and some voices you recognise and some you donât, echo through out your ears.Â
âCome back Y/N. Itâs overâ Dr. Sarkissian instructs as she administers another substance into your IV and you immediately come out of your paralysis and sit up quickly, your eyes wide and gasping for breath. It takes you a moment to realise the effect the drugs actually had on you, when you can't hold your own weight up. Tony quickly takes the back of your head and lowers it back to the pillow.Â
He takes your hand again to calm you and instructing you to take try and take deep breaths. You struggle to pick your head up and notice everyones on you holding their breath for you to speak up but Dr. Sarkissian does before anyone, asking if you're okay. You nod and take a few deep breaths to calm your erratic heart beat.Â
âTell us what you sawâ Ross demands, stepping towards you. He clearly doesn't care for the state you're in. You recount your memories and everything you experienced but leave out the figures who drugged you. Ross and Sarkissian both look to the heart rate monitor and look for any irregular beats to see if you're lying but they find none. Ross looks back to you and you can tell he's displeased with the results.Â
âHow can L/N not remember anything past that point?â Ross snarls in the direction of Dr. Sarkissian. You keep quiet, letting the people with numerous PhDâs talk.
âSomething is blocking their core memories. It could be repressed trauma and the unwillingness to remember or whoever erased Y/Nâs memories, had extremely powerful technology to do so. Because of serum that runs through Y/Nâs veins, erasing memories would be extremely difficult because the brain would be constantly trying to repair itself. Itâs in a constant state of self repair. I can only imagine that whoever did erase the memories, went to extreme and perhaps tortuous lengths to do soâ Dr. Sarkissian explains.
âYou saw my results Ross. Y/Nâs MRI results showed no sign of manipulation. They were never under any sort of hypnosis or brainwashing techniquesâ Bruce says from the corner of the med bay.Â
âIf Y/N wasn't brainwashed then how do you explain the lost memories?â Ross asks, agitation lacing his tone.Â
âMaybe it wasn't Y/Nâs captors that erased their memories because they couldnât. Maybe it was someone elseâ Dr. Sarkissian suggest, looking right at you. You frown, not understand what she's getting at.Â
âThe memory loss was voluntaryâ Bruce concludes. Youâre taken aback at his suggestion. You didn't even consider that a possibility. Why would you erase your own memories? What the hell happened to make you want to forget nearly three years worth of memories?
âWell then, weâll have to try and dig deeper and recover everythingâ Ross says nonchalantly, as if the invasive procedure you just went through was a walk in the park.
âYou wonât be doing that for a whileâ Tony says without room for argument. âY/N has been through enough for today. F.R.I.D.A.Y, please escort our guests to the front door,â Before leaving, Ross turns his direction towards you.Â
âWeâre not finished here L/N. Iâll find out where you've been all this time, you can count on it.â Ross warns. You say nothing, instead turning your gaze to Dr. Sarkissian who had been looking at you the whole time with a predatory gaze. It sends a shiver down your spine. She also says nothing and follows Ross out of the med bay, leaving you alone with Tony and Bruce.Â
âAre you okay?â Bruce asks quietly. You can see the concern in his eyes and it brings you a moment of comfort. You nod and accept the help from Bruce in clearing your body of the wires and helping you to sit up and sit on the edge of the bed. You can feel your limbs start to return to their natural state, your healing factor taking effect. Both Bruce and Tony look at you with curious eyes and you think you already know the next question thatâs going to be asked.Â
âAre you going to tell us what you really saw?â Tony asks, with a raised eyebrow. You avoid his gaze and contemplate his question. You trust him and Bruce but you donât want to drag him or anyone else into this mess. You canât risk anyone else getting hurt and with Ross and The President keeping their eye on you 24/7, you donât want what happened to Wanda, to happen to them when you start poking around in places that you're not supposed to.
âI did tell youâ you say, looking up to look Tony directly in the eyes. He squints at you to determine if you're lying.
âBut not everythingâ Bruce says suspiciously. You know they know, but you wonât give in. Not until you can make sense of what you saw in your memories.Â
âYes, everything. Now if you guys donât mind, Iâm freaking exhausted and Iâd like to go restâ you say, without giving anyone the chance to argue as you move from the bed and out of the med bay. You hear Tony whisper out that the conversation isnât over.
You make your way back to Wandaâs old room. Itâs where you had been sleeping since your return since you still couldn't set foot in your old one. Sleeping was an understatement though. You were constantly plagued by nightmares. Nothing distinct, just flashes of colour, voices and images that you couldn't make out. Basically everything you saw when you were trying to retrieve your memories. The one thing that you were able to make out was Natashaâs face when she walked through the door at the pub in Berlin. Itâs haunted you since you returned.Â
Collapsing onto the bed, you close your eyes and register the events of the last couple of hours. Someone drugged you after you fell through the floors of the warehouse. Hydra? Could Strucker be alive? No, Ultron sent a message to The Avengers with his death. Whoever it was, has the facilities to have you subdued for three years and the technology to erase your memories. What were those colours that you saw? Everything is a blur and your head begins to ache at trying to remember. Your phone dings on the nightstand next to the bed. You grab it and read a message from an unknown number:
Itâs done.
You breathe out a a sigh of relief and relax at Buckyâs message, closing your eyes and unwillingly succumb to your exhaustion.
___
What felt like only moments later, you wake to your phone dinging again and check the message from another unknown number but this one isnât from Bucky.
She'll be there within the hour. I expect that usb to be handed over immediately.
The next hour goes painfully slow as you make your way to the living room to find Pietro, who you had forwarded the message to. You can hear his heart beat beating dangerously fast so you take your hand in his to try and calm him.
"I can't believe this is actually happening" he says in Sokovian. He grips your hand tight.
"I know Piet. I wish I could've done something sooner" you reply sadly in the same language. Pietro squeezes your hand even tighter and if you were a regular person, you know it would hurt.
"Don't do that. None of this is your fault. We're going to find out what happened to you and I know that Wanda is the best chance you have to recover your lost memories" Pietro explains. You frown at this words.
"You know I didn't do what I did just because she can help me right? She's not a villian and I won't have her locked up like one. Even if she couldn't help me, I'd still do what I did a thousand times over. She's my best friend" Pietro immediately let's go of your hands and stands from the couch.
"I thought I was your best friend!" he argues with a fake pout. You roll your eyes at the never ending argument you always have with him at who was your favourite Maximoff.
"Shut up. I love you both equally" you say with a smile. Before Pietro can respond, F.R.I.D.A.Y announces the arrival of a black SUV and you tell her to allow them entry into the compound. You and Pietro move the foyer and wait for the automatic doors to open. When they do, four men with semi automatic rifles, led by Ross, enter slowly. You think the fire-power is a bit over the top, but you know the President is afraid of the information you hold. Ross steps towards you, the armed men close on his heel.
"I don't know how you did this but I will find out and when I do, you'll be arrested and charged to fullest extent of the law" hisses Ross. You don't care for his threats. If he ever did find out and came after you, you'd be long gone and out of the country with Wanda.Â
"Where is she?" you ask bluntly. Ross turns back and the armed men separate to reveal a fifth man standing behind them and that's when you see her, looking the same as when she was in her cell. Exhausted, sunken eyes that point to the ground, messy hair. But you still think she's beautiful. The fifth man releases Wands wrists from the power dampening cuffs and and collar from her neck. When it's removed, you see the bruises that litter her neck and your jaw tightens. You can hear Wanda's shallows breaths and irregular heart beat and it breaks your heart. One of the agents steps up to you and opens a small briefcase. You take the usb from your back pocket and place it in there. The agent snaps it shut and moves back behind Ross who's eyes never leave yours.
"I'll be seeing you again, Y/LN" Ross seethes. You know he's talking about doing more testing, but also he just wants to be there when you're put in handcuffs.
"Get out." you demand and Ross and the men leave without another word.
Before you can step towards her, a flash of blue flies past you and Pietro immediately takes Wanda into his hold. You watch her eyes take in her surroundings and the figure of her twelve minute older brother holding her tight. Her eyes soften as she realises who holds her close and she wraps her arms around his waist. You can hear hear the whispers of Sokovian between the twins but you choose to block it out and give them a moment of privacy. Pietro releases Wanda and places a kiss to her forehead before turning back to you. Wanda's eyes lock to you instantly, almost as if she could feel you there. You release your still clenched jaw and relax your entire body as Wanda slowly walks towards you with a limp in her step. You also slowly walk towards her, your eyes never leaving hers. Her face is expressionless as she finally stands in front of you. You breathe in her scent and realise that it hasn't changed.
"Hi Red." you greet in an almost whisper. Tears start to fall down Wanda face and your heart breaks even more when you know she's realising that she's free and it's because of you. She launches herself at you, wrapping her arms around your neck as you arms wrap around her waist, bringing her feet off the ground. You can her tears soak through your shirt but you donât care now that your best friend is in your arms. Wandaâs arms keep tightening around your neck and you start to feel it harder to breathe. âWands, I canât breatheâ She immediately releases her hold and you realise that you were engulfed in her magic and that's why you couldn't breathe. You lower her back to the ground and her eyes never leave yours as she takes ahold of your hand and squeezes softly.
âIâm sorry.â she says in a whisper. You smile in acceptance of her apology. Pietro walks up to Wanda and places her hand on his sisters shoulder and you see Wanda almost flinch at his touch. Thankfully, Pietro misses it. You know sheâs still on edge by the sound of her heartbeat beating rapidly in her chest. .
âHow about we go out and get some food and celebrate both of you returning? Iâll see where the team is at and we can have a party tonight too.â Pietro suggests with a wide smile. Wanda opens her mouth to speak up but you beat her to it.Â
âNo.â you say firmly. The oldest twin begins to protest but you raise your hand to silence him. âItâs too early for that Piet. Let Wanda settle back into the compound and get reacquainted with everything. Iâm still getting used to everything too. Give us a couple days, please?â
âYeah of course. I'm sorry, Iâm just excited to have you both back. I didn't mean to get carried away.â he says sincerely. You shoot him a small smile. You see Wanda take her occupied hand and grab her brothers.Â
âI missed you too Pietro. Right now, I just want to sleep in my own bed." Wanda admits.
"No.â you say once again. Both of the twins swing their heads in your direction with frowns of confusion on their faces. âYou need to be checked out by Cho first. I donât know what Ross put you through but iâll sleep better at night knowing you have a clean bill of health.â
Wanda shoots you a small smile and nods. She turned to Pietro and hugged him, promising to spend time with him later. You then led her by the hand through the compound, to the med bay where she was greeted warmly by Dr. Cho. She and Wanda exchange pleasantries as Dr. Cho leads Wanda to the hospital bed and starts an IV along with some wires to her forehead and chest.
âIâm just going to do some blood work and some other vitals and see if theres any lasting damage.â Dr. Cho explains. Wanda smiles in acknowledgement and you go to leave Wanda in private but she takes your hand and begs with her eyes for you to stay. Dr. Cho notices the silent exchange between you too and quickly takes a vial of Wandaâs blood and her blood pressure and leaves the room.
âAre you going to tell me what you did to get me out of the Raft?â Wanda questions in a suspicious tone.
âYes. Iâd never lie to you.â you admit.
âIs it going to make me mad?â she questions again in the same tone.Â
âYep" you answer simply. Before Wanda can protest, the door to the med bay swings open and the rest of the Avengers pile into the room. Steve, Tony, Bruce, Clint, Vision and Pietro surround Wanda while you take a few steps backwards to give them room to greet her. Bucky steps through the threshold and places a hand on your shoulder with a small smile. You return it and a nod in silent thanks for his help in getting Wanda back. You didn't have siblings, but he was the closest thing to a brother you had, besides Pietro.
As everyone was swarming Wanda with hugs and questions, you decided to step outside for moment to get your bearings. You didn't realise you were holding your breath until you leant your back against the wall and release it.
âYou okay?â You feel Wanda enter your mind.
âShouldn't I be asking you that?
âCho gave me a mild sedative, so iâm okay for the moment. Whatâs going on?
âI just needed some air. Plus i just wanted everyone to have their time with you too. They missed you.
âThereâs plenty of me to go around, Y/N. Are you saying you didn't miss me?
âIt feels like I only saw you last week.â
âAre we going to talk about your disappearance?â
âOnly if we talk about why you were in the Raftâ
âWe will, I promise,â Both of you stayed silent for the moment until Wanda entered your mind again. âSteveâs comingâ You immediately straightened your posture and waited for the Captain to walk through the door. Steve was in front of you in a matter of seconds with his arms folded in front of him and a stoic expression.
âWhat did you do? Steve asks immediately.
âWhat do you mean? you reply, cooly.
âDonât play stupid Y/N. I know you and that youâd do anything for Wanda. Including breaking the law to get her out.âÂ
âI donât know what you're talking about Steve.â He sighed in defeat and moved his hands to his hips and hung his head. You could feel the disappointment radiating off him and as much as you didn't want him to feel like that, he was right in saying that you would do anything for Wanda.
âWhatever you've done, it better not come to bite you or anyone else in the ass Y/N. I know how much you want to recover your memories and find out what happened but I wonât allow any harm to come to the team because of it.â Steve said firmly.
âI get it, Cap.â You put your hand on his shoulder and squeezed it gently, letting him know that you were being serious. âI wonât let anything happen to anyoneâ you promised. âNow, I'm going to hang out with my best friend.â You moved towards Wandaâs room before Steve spoke up again.
âY/N?â
âYeah?â
âIâm sorry with what happened with Nat.â Steve said sincerely, his lips forming a thin line. It took all the strength you had not to let the tears fall at the mention of her name. You haven't allowed yourself to think of her and with everything going on, you had little time to cry about your love life. You nodded in thanks and returned to Wandaâs room. She was trying to keep up with everyone speaking at her and not to her. It was starting to piss you off when you could see Wandaâs eyes frantically move around the room and then to the exit.
âEveryone out!â you shouted at the everyone. âThereâs too much testosterone in this room and itâs making Wanda sick, so if you want to speak to her you can come back one at a time. You gave all of the men a look to say âtry meâ when some of them made the motion to protest. You saw Wanda cover her mouth to hide a laugh out the corner of your eye, but you could still hear shaky her breath as she tried to muffle it. All of the men bid goodbye to Wanda with hugs and wishes to get well. Pietro gave his sister a kiss on her forehead and whispered something in her ear, that you decided not to listen to and then left the medway with a wink in your direction.
âWhat did Pietro say?â you ask, stepping up to Wandaâs bed.Â
âYou didn't listen?â Wanda replies, curiously.
âI never listen when itâs just you and him. I never haveâ
Not even back in Sokovia with Strucker?â You shake your head. âI always thought you did.â
âIt was hard not to listen when Pietro would basically yell from his cell to yours thinking he was whispering.â you say, with an eye roll. Wanda giggles at yours but it turns into a deep frown a moment later.Â
âHe just told me to take it easy and that he'll be back later. Are you going to tell me whats going on?â Wanda asks quietly.Â
âYes. But not here. Get F.R.I.D.A..YÂ to let me know when Cho releases you and Iâll come and get you. Iâll explain everything once we have some privacy.â Wanda nods at your words and you give her hand a squeeze and a kiss to her forehead and exit the med bay and back to Wandaâs room.
---
She arrives half an hour later and looking much better than she did when she arrived. Thereâs colour in her cheeks and the circles under her eyes look lighter. You can tell Cho worked a miracle once again. Before you can comment, Wanda holds her finger up to silence you. You immediately sit down on the bed as she walks over to sit next you.
âTalk.â she demands.Â
âYou have to promise not to get mad at me.â you beg.Â
âNope.â
âThatâs fair.â You release a deep sigh. âI blackmailed The President.â Wandaâs eyes go wide with fear which quickly turns to anger. Thereâs not much youâre afraid of in this world but a pissed off redhead is one of them. She smacks you up the back of the head and if you weren't a super soldier you know you'd be bruised tomorrow.
âTell me everything, right now.â You go into detail from the moment you woke up, being arrested by Natasha, to dealing with Ross, the leverage you had over the President, involving Bucky and Pietro, the testing with Dr. Sarkissian, her suggestion that you have erased your own memories everything that happened and everything you didn't tell Ross, Bruce, Ross and Dr. Sarkissian, to the moment you find you find yourself in right now. âHuh. Who knew that the most powerful man in the world liked wearing diapers and crawling around like a baby.âÂ
âNot me. I mean, Iâm not here to kink shame but Iâm guessing the general public wouldn't like that.â you say with a small laugh.
âY/N, you know you canât just be blackmailing the President. If you get caught, they'll put you somewhere worse than The Raft. Pietro and Bucky too.â Wanda says in a whisper, even though the walls are soundproof you know sheâs still worried someone might hear.
âI know Wands but I couldn't let you rot in there. You donât belong in there. You never did.â Wanda gives you a small smile and takes your hands in hers and squeezes gently.
âThank you for saving me. Even though i couldn't save you.â Wanda says tearfully.
âHey, hey. Don't worry about that. Iâm here now aren't I?â you say gently, rubbing your thumbs over the back of her hands.
âBut three years Y/N. You were gone. We really thought you were dead. I thought you were dead.â Wanda says with a deep sob.
âTell me what happened in Berlin.â you ask, wanting to hear her side. You'd believe her over anyone anyway.Â
âAfter you died, there was no trace of Hydra for months. I was getting pissed off because I wanted someone to answer for your death. I wanted revenge. Nat left after a couple of months when she couldn't find any answers and it felt like everyone else just followed after her and gave up. It wasn't good enough for me. So I left and took matters into my own hands. I found as many Hydra bases as I could and destroyed them.â
âWhat led you to Berlin?â
âNatasha had left me the names of some of her old contacts and one of them contacted me saying their was an usually large presence of Hydra around, When I arrived, a felt a huge surge of energy and tried to follow it but I was ambushed before I could reach tit.
âAnd thats when -â you trail off.
âI killed all of those peopleâ Wanda whispers out. You remind her that it was an accident but all she does it wrap her arms around you and you welcome her embrace, whispering more reassurances in her ear. She releases you and wipes the tears from her cheeks.Â
âSo you lied about what you saw?â
âYeah. I obviously donât trust Ross or his doctor. I donât want them digging into my brain any more than it already has been. But I canât bring Tony, Bruce or anyone else into this mess.â you explain.
âWhy me then?â Wanda says with a sniffle.Â
âYou're my best friend. I want you with me on this and I trust you with my life.â you say with a shrug. Wanda smiles.
âWell, how can I help?â
âYours powers. If you can reach into my mind, maybe you can see what happened to me, where I was, what I was doing. Maybe find out if I really did erase my own memories.â you suggest, hopefully. Wanda lets go of your hand and stands from the bed and paces around the room.Â
âY/N, your mind has already been fractured and repaired multiple times. If I do this and it doesn't work, your mind may not recover this time. Even with the serum in your systemâ Wanda warns, a slight tone of fear in her voice. You raise yourself from the bed also and walk over to Wanda and place your hands on her shoulders.Â
âI trust you.â Wanda takes a moments to register your request and wants to deny you but the pleading look in your eyes only compels her to agree. She places her hands on both sides of your head and you both close your eyes. You feel a warmth slowly seep its way through your cheeks and you're suddenly brought back to the warehouse once again, except you're watching from the sidelines, not reliving the memory like you did with Dr. Sarkissian.
Wanda takes you back through everything you did with Dr. Sarkissian right up until the moment where the figure stuck a needle in your neck. The memory moves to the flashes of red, purple and orange you saw and the voices you heard. They still donât make sense to you but you feel Wanda force her magic through the barriers of your mind until you find yourself standing on what looks like the top a mountain, an orange sun setting in the distance. It seems remote and barren and you donât recognise it as somewhere youâve been before. From the corner of your eye, you see movement and widen your eyes when you notice your past self just standing there, moving animatedly. Youâre surrounded by a couple of shadowy figures that you look to be talking to but your memories are still foggy and you assume the shadows are examples of you not remembering. You want to move towards your past self but you canât move your feet and before you can protest, you're brought back to reality. Your vision clears and you see Wanda wobbling on her legs and you automatically take her in your arms and bring her to the bed to lay down.Â
âThat was a lotâ Wanda says and you can hear the exhaustion in her voice as she lays her head on the pillow. You nod in agreement, not sure what to make of that you just saw.
"I'm sorry. I probably should've waited until you were ready to ask you to do that." you say, ashamed.
"It's okay. I want to help you in whatever way I can. Did you recognise anything?â You shake your head. All you can gather from what you saw is that you were definitely up and about. You weren't handcuffed and seemed to be in okay condition and the shadows that you saw were actual people but you canât remember their faces so they had none. Wanda hears these thoughts that you're loudly projecting and hums in acknowledgment. You turn to look at her and see her eyes are closed and her breathing has already evened out. She's asleep. You lay yourself next to her and think about all of the events from the day.
Everything you've found out, which wasn't much. You weren't sure where to go from here. All you can do in this moment is appreciate that your best friend was back and the both of you were going to find out what happened to you. As you close your eyes and surrender to your own exhaustion, you feel Wanda's arm wrap over your waist and her head coming to rest on your chest. You didn't realise how touch deprived you were until this very moment. Her warmth brings you a deep comfort and lulls you into a deep slumber.Â

Omg pls do âitâs hard to be close to you and not kiss youâ from the prompt list for Leigh!!!
the way I fell in love with this prompt as soon as you sent it oof thank you
â hard to sit here and be close to you, and not kiss you. â + Leigh Shaw; very light angst, if any... mostly just fluff
883 words
f. scott fitzgerald prompts
âEveryone has treated me like I have the plague, I just donât get it!â Leigh had come over late that night, cashing in on the open door policy you reserved for her alone. Youâd started it shortly after Matt died, knowing Leigh was too proud to ask outright for help; instead you offered her a key with your condolences, the only copy of your front door you owned. For as long as youâd known her, sheâd never looked so lost and if she let you be a shoulder to lean on whenever she wanted to shake and cry or simply sleep in a house with another living being, youâd be there for her.
At first there were a lot of nights centering around Matt, how much she missed him, how confused she was, any worrisome thought about her husband that ran through her head. Now, a year later, Leigh was moving on as best she could and part of that included being back in the dating world. You were happy for her, having watched her grow from rock bottom to a woman who could wake up some mornings with a smile; it was what she deserved. Still, itâd made these last few months personally torturous for you. âIs there something wrong with me? Be honest.â
âLeighâŠâ With dating came watching Leigh move through men, not a lot, but noticeable enough to give her new insecurities. Insecurities you had to quell as she brought them up and again, you didnât mind boosting her ego and granting her that extra bit of validation she needed to go ask some guy she was into out on a date. The trouble was your feelings for the woman.
When you met Leigh, she was already a married woman, her husband a new visitor to the cafe you managed. The first time he brought her in, you felt your heart race, but as soon as you saw her hands grab his, your small crush was drowned out. Of course, you didnât wish either of them any fallout, but Leigh quickly became your favorite customer. Youâd take over her order from any of the baristas working, always making some excuse or another to talk to her more. When your friendship developed beyond seeing her in your workplace, your other friends teased you for harboring affections for a woman you could never have.Â
It didnât stop you from dating other women, but still whenever you saw her you were in awe. Mattâs death shook everyone to their core, especially Leigh, and you were there for her well-being genuinely so when she started dating again, you were shocked. Possibilities youâd stamped down, sprung up like wildflowers, your heart gnawing at you to just ask her if only to see what sheâd say. But you couldnât do that to her. She couldnât handle losing such a close friend, one of the only people she confided in, over your impossible crush. If she said no, youâd have ruined everything.Â
Nights like these, where she asked you these questions, made you want to risk it all. âNothing is wrong with you, Leigh. You just havenât found the right person to accept you for who you are yet. If being a young widow is that bothersome to them, thatâs on them. Not you. Youâre wonderful.â You hadnât realized you were holding her hand until you saw her eyes drop to where they were entwined on her lap and you wouldâve backtracked if youâd missed the hint of a blush on her cheeks, just barely highlighted by the low lamp light of your bedroom.
âDamn, tell me how you really feel.â Leigh had said it jokingly, but her tone gave away how touched she was by your words, her thumb rubbing over the back of your hand so gently you nearly whimpered. The ensuing silence left your brain alone to run wild, a myriad of options screaming for dominance. Yet again you toyed with the truth youâd been keeping from her, hoping if you told Leigh she at least wouldnât turn away from your friendship completely.Â
âI feelâŠâ In the end, it was the hesitant way she bit her lip that made you speak up, hoping to break the standstill. âItâs hard to sit here and be close to you, and not kiss you.â The statement was blunt, bold and daring, everything you werenât, but if you didnât say it now, you didnât know when you would again.Â
The few seconds waiting for Leigh to respond were the longest youâd suffered in her life, every shift in her expression from confusion to shock to the smallest curve of a smile at her lips tugging and twisting at your soul. She was leaning in before youâd even processed that she wasnât standing up to leave, invading your space carefully. Soft lips pressed against yours as a test, pecking the corners of your mouth a few times to rouse you from your fear. The second time Leigh kissed you, you kissed back, nothing deep, but full of sincerity and when she pulled away, you pouted while she laughed. âYou made me go out on all of those dates before telling me you felt the same way. Now you come over here and kiss me. Show me how you feel.â
#thankfully I have I think like⊠three?? more leigh requests rn in my inbox#whenwolveshowl#comment reblog.

Thank youuu đ„° I am weirdly obsessed with Nat recording haha
đđđđ đ đđđđŠ âą đ€. đđđ„đđđđđ & đ. đđđđđđđđ
a/n: yeah this was super unplanned! Let's all thank @didujustcallmedumb for sending me a post in my server that was just "cute date idea: filming filthy porn together <3" as a possible PH thought; most of my inspiration to write is facilitated by them and so yea, this is for you Nay ily!!
words: 1K
warnings: This is an 18+ AU, minors DNI; smut/pre-smut??; recorded sex; coercion?? not really, but it's there just in case; groping; fingering; dirty talk; newlyweds WandaNat, they love each other
summary: Private Hire AU: Origins; Natasha is leaving for a long time and she wants a very specific parting gift from her new wife
private hire au. || main masterlist.
âCome on, itâll be fun. I promise.â Nat had Wanda pinned to the bed, caged her wife around her arms and legs. One day Wanda would remember to avoid the bedroom when thatâs exactly where Natasha wanted to be. She was just too good at steering negotiations. âIâll be away for my birthday, itâs an early present.â
âYou donât know your birthday, Tasha.â Wanda had long since given up trying to wiggle away from Natasha; she never made it. Even so, Natasha never forced her into something she wasnât truly into and on this, Wanda was still leaning towards a no. A soft no right now⊠She wanted to hate the idea, but it did thrill a small part of her. âBesides, what if someone sees it?â
Natasha chuckled, letting her head fall until her lips were at Wandaâs ear, turning to kiss her temple. âSo my birthday can be whenever I want it to be; maybe I want to try being a ScorpioâŠ.â Her kisses led back to the top of Wandaâs ear, nibbling the shell of it between her teeth until the brunette yelped, âNo one is going to see it. If they do, Iâll kill them. Would that make you feel better, knowing Iâll never let anyone else see you like this? That even if I record this, youâre all for me?â
Wanda knew what her wife was doing. Sheâs known her long enough to know exactly what will make Wanda give in to what filthy thing she wants and Wandaâs been subject to it enough to be fully aware of it happening. That didnât mean she was immune to it. âNatty, donât-â
There was a hand sneaking up her thigh, hooking her leg around Natashaâs hip so that when that same hand circled the width of her upper thigh, Wanda was helpless to close her legs to Natashaâs teasing. Her hand found Wandaâs clothed sex easily, thumb rubbing just the barest of circles over her clit. âPlease, Wands? Iâm going to be gone for so long and all I want to do is go back to my hotel and watch you; I want to remind myself I have the hottest wife ever while I fuck myself after a long day.â
She hated that the thought made her blush; Wanda wasnât a prude by a long shot, but Natasha always knew what to say to leave her brain frazzled. The redhead was being cruel again, refusing to touch her properly until she gave in to her wifeâs desires. Instead, she was forced to feel fingers pushing at her entrance over her underwear. When she finally caught a glimpse of Natasha it was quick, only seconds before she crashed their lips together, claiming Wandaâs mouth with little resistance. Wanda parted her mouth with ease and Natasha wasted no time, sliding her tongue along the womanâs under her. Eventually she slowed, moving the smooth muscle in time with her shallow thrusts against Wandaâs sex.
The more she thought about it, the more Wanda tried to come to terms with the idea. She trusted Natasha with her life, knew that sheâd never think of sharing it with anyoneâ her wife was antagonistic, but sheâd never violate Wandaâs privacy in such a way. If she granted her this, the resulting orgasm was sure to be mind numbing; when Natasha was excited, there was almost no stopping her until she was fully sated and Wanda would be a liar to say she didnât love letting Natasha run wild in having her way with her for hours.
Even more, Wanda couldnât deny the thought of Natasha making herself cum to the thought of her strangely touched her heart, leaving her wanting to rub her own thighs together and hide how wet the images running through her head made her.
âOh you do like that, donât you?â Natasha doubted Wanda knew how much sheâd soaked through her panties in such a short time, her fingers stretching the damp fabric down until it was at her ankles. She hated how much she stuck to her convictions, making Wanda wait until she explicitly gave in. Itâd be so much better knowing she was getting everything she wanted.
Maybe it was Natashaâs special version of romanceâ an âI miss you and Iâm thinking of youâ without the sappy cards or texts she abhorred. Wanda would miss her too obviously; it would be the first time theyâd been apart since theyâd gotten married and if this helped Natasha, well, she was practicing being a supportive wife. Natashaâs free hand had snaked up Wandaâs abdomen under her stretched out t-shirt, squeezing her breast roughly as soon as she got her hand around it. âCan I see you when you do it?â
Admittedly, that took Natasha by surprise; she never expected Wanda to be into this past just allowing her to film. Wanda wanting to watch, wanting to see her pleasuring herself to what theyâd made together? âNaughty girl, you want to watch me fuck myself?â Wanda nodded, biting her lip while she stared at her with the widest green eyes sheâs ever seen. Innocence somehow laced her expression even though Natasha knew all of the unspeakable things theyâd done together in and out of the bedroom and fuck, Natasha wanted to bury her strap so deep in her right this minute-
âIf you promise to show me, Iâll let you film whatever you want.â Wanda held back her smile, the hard steadying breath Natasha had to take exposing her wifeâs agreement already. âPlease?â She was milking it now, she knew it, but Wanda loved seeing Natasha try to gather herself back togetherâ dominant as she was, Wanda had Natasha wrapped around her finger.
âYou can have whatever you want, baby doll.â Natasha cupped Wanda roughly, shoving two fingers past her entrance, waiting be damned. If Wanda agreed to anything, Natasha wouldnât give her a chance to backpedal. Her digits were drenched in an instant and she loved it, Wandaâs obvious arousal only spurring Natasha to push her further.
Wanda was whimpering now, her hips bucking into Natashaâs hand just once, but it was enough. âO-Okay..â The confirmation was a relief, really, because Natasha had already pressed the record button on her phone when they walked into the room.
