i wish i had pictures of that crypt when it was barely clinging to life bc i am SO proud of how huge it is now. but obviously i didn't really feel like taking pictures of it when it was like, a sickly little bundle of (optimistically) a half-dozen partially see-through leaves

#WAIT i just mentally solved my concern about stirring up the substrate and potentially releasing trapped ammonia/etc while replanting #drain tank 2/3 of the way. transfer shramps to reserved tank water.#plant new material in the remaining 1/3 water (this will also just be way easier to work with anyway)#when planting is finished siphon the remaining water out (DIFFERENT BUCKET.) anything nasty that gets kicked up will be removed that way.#return shramps and reserved tank water and top off remaining 1/3 as a normal water change. hacked.#see. good things happen sometimes when i talk abt non-art stuff on here
