hmm idk actually; they're mostly probably wips from fandoms that i have since left or just never knew what to do with. that's kinda boring, but there really aren't, like, secret wips. i try to finish my wips even if it takes weeks/months/years. for example, there's a grief fic i wanna write about for revue starlight that's been sitting in the lazy susan since 2022 and i think i'm only now ready to write it.

but there are also some wips that i think have just passed its time and that i probably won't touch again (but never say never!)

She's not immune to cabin fever, so she leaves the wreckage of her house and drives her truck downtown, parking it right in front of one of the three competing bars they have on Main Street.

When she pushes the glass door forward, the bell above it rings. She glances up, looks at the patina of the metal before meeting the bartender's eye.

Without a single word, Raven walks up to the corner of the bar just as the bartender approaches with a rag thrown over her shoulder.

"What're you having?"

"Just a beer for now."

"What kind?"

"Whatever's available."

The bartender studies her, but Raven just scans the room before taking a seat on the empty stool. She watches as the bartender takes a glass and flips it right side up before placing it under the draft spigot, tilted to the side until only a sliver of foam sits at the very top.

"Tab?" the bartender asks just as she places the glass in front of Raven.

Raven nods just before taking a sip of her beer.

The bartender leaves her alone, especially when a gaggle of girls walk in for some type of girls' night out. Her red eyes trail after the giggling movements of the six women sitting around one of the big tables towards the center of the open room. The regulars pay them no mind, even as their volume increases.

She scowls when a group of young guys filter through the bar and multiply the volume when they meet with the young women already there. So much so that she downs her scotch and orders for another.

The bartender quietly places another glass in front of hers, smirking at her, like they're sharing a secret. She just nods, pushes the empty glass from her hands in exchange.

"You new around here?" the bartender asks, leaning forward on her left side, her sleeve tattoo in full display. She's a bit on the younger side for Raven's tastes, but her short pixie cut and pale blue eyes have caught her attention.

"Depends."

"Haven't seen you around here before. I'd notice."

She lets out a small amused chuckle, wonders how much this woman believes this line she's giving Raven. "New enough."

"Where do you live?"

"That's at least a four drink question, and we're only on two."

The bartender plucks two shot glasses from underneath the counter and pours rum into both of them. She then slides one by Raven's hand, nodding towards it when she grabs hold of the one in front of her.

She plays along and grabs the shot glass, holds it up where the bartender clinks it and keeps her eyes steady when they both shoot, their hands dropping at the same time onto the counter.

"Now that's four," the bartender states.

Raven shakes her head at this woman's audacity all while the heat of the rum courses down her stomach. "You don't need to worry about where I live."

The bartender laughs at having been bested. She's just about to say something to Raven when someone calls for her, the name Vernal coming out from one of the regulars at the opposite end of the bar.

"Duty calls," Vernal says before retrieving the shot glasses and placing them in some bin under the counter. Raven doesn't say anything, just watches the woman leave to take care of the other patrons.

For the next ten minutes, she watches Vernal walk the length of the bar to create and serve so many drinks at once. It's impressive, all told. Every now and again, she catches Vernal turning towards her, like making sure she hasn't left yet. She doesn't, not right away, happy to nurse her beer. At one point, Vernal throws her a wink when she sees Raven's eyes dip down to her ass only to come back when their eyes meet. She's only a little bit ashamed, but she doesn't react, just takes a sip of the last dregs of her drink.

When the last drop of her beer passes through her lips, she quietly places her glass on the counter. Slowly, she slips her hand to the pocket of her jeans and pulls out a few folded bills. It's not until she sees Vernal preoccupied with some new customers that she decides to slink away from the bar, tucking her payment and generous tip under her empty glass.

She slips out right behind a couple definitely on a date walks in.

When Lena finds a stack of mail on her desk first thing Monday morning, she doesn’t expect a wedding invitation. Glancing at the K. Danvers at the top corner of the envelope, she frowns when nothing comes to mind with that name. She thinks perhaps it’s one of her employees that she’s just not familiar with. With a smooth swipe of her gold albatross-designed letter opener, she opens the envelope and tugs at the card inside.

She’s surprised to find the invitation reaching her desk, since Jess normally screens these letters for her

Her eyes furrow in confusion when she reads the card.

You are cordially invited to the wedding between Kara Zor-El Danvers and Future Spouse

That gives Lena pause. Future spouse?

She skims through the rest of the wedding details. She then presses the intercom button for her secretary.

“Jess?”

“Yes, Miss Luthor?”

She rolls her eyes at her secretary’s adamant insistence of referring to her by her last name despite her efforts to have Jess call her Lena.

“Can you run the name Kara Danvers through our employee roster?”

“Yes, Miss Luthor. I’ll send it right away.”

When she hangs up, she turns to the smaller card insert with the RSVP request. Her first inclination is to decline, if not altogether just hand the entire thing to Jess to take care of. Yet it’s the term Future Spouse that has her pausing, her curiosity quite piqued at the thought of a mystery spouse. Does this Kara Danvers not really know?

With a thoughtful tap of the card against her chin, she decides there’s no reason to expend energy thinking about it now. She’ll find out soon enough when Jess gets back to her.

With a new season airing I figured I would do a lil post of tomgreg fics I’ve written that I’m kind of proud of, just for funsies 🙈 I've loved being part of this fandom, and I'm hoping to contribute even more as the final season plays out :) I have two things half finished right now, so I guess we'll see.

Truth or Dare Rating: E Probably my magnum opus lol. Tom & Greg play an insane game of truth or dare that drastically alters their relationship and throws everything they know into question. I love when Tom’s a little insane, and he is definitely insane in this (in a hopefully canon-typical way at least?!).

Landslide Rating: E A bit of a character study on Tom and his complex and layered emotions. He goes on a bit of a journey in this fic, trying to figure out how to be the most authentic version of himself after repressing it for so long (with Greg being enduringly patient).

Little lies Rating: T The blossoming of Tom & Greg’s relationship through the eyes of Shiv. I loved writing this so much that I made it into a mini series.

For what it’s worth Rating: E Tom propositions Greg over dinner and it goes better than he expects. The dialogue is some of the best I’ve written, I think, which isn't bad considering I'd watched like 5 episodes of Succession when I wrote it (plus about a million tomgreg fancams :'))

Pictures of the past Rating: E Wrote this for my iconic pal @chasingbodies birthday, who actually came up w the idea in the first place. Tom’s friend from college unearths pics of him from his youth and Greg kind of becomes obsessed with seeing them. Such a fun concept, Ana has the best prompts.

The Hirsch Foundation for Waifs and Strays Rating: T Throwing this in here because it’s just silly and cute. When I’m sad I write the softest nonsense and I was so sad when I wrote this 🫣 the plot is essentially ‘Greg can’t stop adopting dogs, and Tom let’s it happen bc he’s in love with Greg’

Surreal, but nice Rating: E Notting Hill AU. Ewan gives Greg his aging bookstore as an early inheritance, and in attempting to run it he meets mega famous actor Tom Wambsgans, who develops an interest in him 🤭 it’s literally a reimagining of the movie Notting Hill, which I highly recommend if you haven’t seen it. (Though I don't think you need to have seen it to enjoy this, it's just like if tomgreg were a romcom)

Do you make your bed? —I do - or I try to, I feel better when it's done and it makes me feel like I can move on with my day 🫡 Exceptions are for when I'm late, but then I would do it before going to bed!

Favourite number? — 5 (but 3 or 7 also work) (I like odd numbers in general)

What's your job? — I quit my job a few weeks ago sooo at the moment unemployed fanfic writer I guess 🤠

If you could go back to school, would you? — I think so! I would love to go back to study something I really like without the pressure of earning the degree since I already have one, and then take the time to actually learn and discuss the topics rather than to focus on grades.

Can you parallel park? — In theory, yes, I can. In practice... maybe? I don't drive often, so when I have to park I try to make it as easy as I can for myself (so not parallel park)

Do you think aliens are real? — Yes, I think it'd be quite sad if we were the only form of life in the universe

Can you drive a manual car? — Yes!

What's your guilty pleasure? — Cheesy romance and romcoms, I'm down baaaad for it, especially the 90s ones

Tattoos? — Not yet, mostly because I'm too indecisive on what to get and where haha

Favourite color? — Red, then shades of purples, blues and greens :)

Favourite type of music? — Taylor Swift definitely, but otherwise I love pop-rock and instrumental/classical soundtracks from games and movies

Do you like puzzles? — Ehhh, I can do puzzles to pass the time but I'm not drawn to them otherwise. If I can't get it quickly it tends to annoy me 🥲

Any phobias? — Yeah, spiders :(

Favourite childhood sport? — I had a complex relationship with sports as a kid so I don't think I had any really? But I loved to run around and play hide and seek if that counts lol

Do you talk to yourself? — Occasionally, when I need to "hear" the steps in a process or to guide myself through something step by step. Sometimes I do it when I'm in a very good mood too!

What movie(s) do you adore? — Oh! Lords of the Ring trilogy is my absolute fave of all time, then the Ghibli movies, Pride & Prejudice (2005), and I cannot think of others at the moment although I'm sure there's at least like 20 more haha

Coffee or tea? — Tea always, but in recent years I've learned to like coffee (although I love the smell more than the taste)

First thing you wanted to be growing up? — A teacher! And I'm kinda glad I didn't choose this path now 😬

Best advice — trust yourself and do things for yourself first and foremost (drawing, writing, etc etc); don't try to match people's expectations and do things at your own pace, life's not a race :)

Currently watching — waiting for Bridgerton part 2, so in the meantime I'm rewatching the classic period drama movies (P&P, Emma, etc.)

Idk why I'm writing it to you, maybe it's the need for consolation lol. I keep falling in love with wip fics that end up abandoned, and it just makes me so sad, especially because it's often fics with unique (or at least rare) premises, so it's difficult to find smth similar to read. My 2 recentish examples are Not another romcom (you even mentioned it a while ago here, iirc) and another fic where Stucky met up in dreams and both assumed their lover didn't exist in real life...and the most devastating part is that this text stopped updating just before the chapter when they were supposed to finally meet for real😭 I know writers have their own reasons, life is hard, and I'm grateful for the chapters they managed to publish, but every once in a while i look up their accs in hope, and alas. Does smth similar happen to you sometimes? As both the reader and the writer, you probably have a deeper perspective.

Hi my lovely! I'm so sorry for not replying to this sooner, I've had a crazy few days and I haven't had time to sit down and think about messages that required a bit more thought than just a key smash! I didn't mean to ignore you, I promise. Because I've been where you've been and it suuuucks... It really does. And I don't mean the authors suck for not finishing works, I just mean that getting invested in a story and then never knowing how it ends is a tough pill to swallow :(

From a reader's perspective, that's happened to me a few times too and there are still a few unfinished fics that I think about regularly. The ones that got away 💔 And that's basically one of the main reasons why I've decided not to read WIPs anymore, unless the author states beforehand that the fic is already finished and just being posted chapter by chapter. I just don't want to go through what you're describing again, it's just a little bit heartbreaking, you know?

And from a writer's perspective, I can say that the fear of abandoning a fic halfway and disappointing readers is a big part of why I never post WIPs. Up until now, I've only posted completed works, all of it in one go. I might try my hand at posting in chapters sometime in the near future, but I still think I'll finish it first before I post it. I just have too many unfinished unpublished WIPs sitting around on my hard drive, and I just can't promise life won't get in the way of finishing them, even if I've already started posting them, you know? For some people it's a good incentive to finish fics though, I totally get that too! And I also know that it's important to show authors love on WIPs to support them and encourage them to finish them, but I try to do my bit by reblogging and obsessively checking whether or not they're finished yet and then reading them immediately once they are, I guess 😅

One full year later, just finished chapter 1 lol

So I just finished chapter 1 of my new fantasy/sci-fi fic, The Earthbound Quest!!! (I finally have a title lol) I also have a prologue that I wrote weeks ago. Not gonna lie, i'm gonna say that chapter 1 was the most difficult chapter that i've had to write. Not only because the fear of literally not writing anything since 2016 but because I also had to introduce Minhyun's dilemma, Planet Collestia and some other important characters!

Honestly I think once Minhyun hits Earth, things will be easier. Because this is my first fic with some (soft) sci-fi & fantasy and i'm not really big on worldbuilding but I will try my best lol

Oh boy Jonghyeon's POV and other characters will come around chapter 3. I have some scandalous drama that I will be introducing up ahead for his subplot lmaooo. And somehow Minhyun will unfortunately be wrapped up into Jonghyeon's journalism rivalry with Kyulkyung lol

Also I'm so excited to start 2hyun's romance subplot too! it's gonna be hilarious romcom mess coming up!!

Humor is my thing but of course! I must stay focused because the plot will be centered around Minhyun reuniting with his mother who disappeared from his life when he was 5. And what's a gripping story without some serious moments...it's very difficult for me writing even the smallest sad scenes. But it must be done, i suppose.

I do have a main theme for the fic as well. However minor themes such as dysfunctional family relationships and generational curses are some things that I unexpectantly found myself having to tackle. So I have to say that it's really interesting exploring these. I intend for this to be a healing fic, so things are not going to be too angsty or dark.

I don't think i'll actually start posting it until i've written chapter 2. So yeah...i guess i officially writing again

Crazy Rich Asians — I have no right to throw shade because I’ve never written a book and it is an entertaining read BUT

It is not quality writing. I picked up the book after the movie came out and was really excited to read it because ROMCOM, but I was surprised by how plain the language was. I’m not sure how to describe it correctly, but it just didn’t feel like good writing. I was surprised because I guess I was used to reading really good books lol and then this really popular bestseller just felt subpar-ish.

And then take BTR, Lavish, Control, Pizza Comes First, All the Time in the World, Best Bike Crash Ever, The Crucible….. ETC (I can only imagine the wonders you do in How To Kill an Immortal, which is the only Marcus thing on your masterlist that I haven’t read because I am too scared of the angst 🥲. But the premise itself is so creative and beautiful, and I am SURE the story is perfection and poetry all around!!!). and OH MY LORD THAT SHAVING SNIPPET!!!!!!! Your writing is beautiful, elegant, poetic. When I read your fics it’s not just for the smut with dream man Marcus (HEART EYES), but also for the art you create in every sentence.

So much of the amazing fan fiction here deserves to be printed on paper, and your stories are definitely at the top of the list 🌱🌷🌻
