seriously what is it with parents hiding medical information from their kids that's so fucked up
#when i was a teenager my doctors wanted to test me for a mitochondrial disease and my parents said no and i was never told about it#they didn't want me to be in pain and like i get it but if i'd had the choice i would've done it. i didn't even know that was an option!!!!#and then last year my sister was really sick and my mum took her to a doctor who said to go to the hospital bc she suspected meningitis#and my mother told ME but not my sister bc she didn't want to scare her and i was like she has the right to her own medical information#she's already fucking terrified and she's NINETEEN she's an adult!!!! she should be told these things!!!!!!!!!#and apparently my grandparents suspected my dad had adhd when he was a kid but just never mentioned it to him#they thought he'd grow out of it apparently#i'm sure he would've appreciated that information and maybe i would've been diagnosed earlier
