i really really hate my spotty memory. like, i joke about it but if i had better memory i would be doing what i wanted in life which would be a historian in some capacity. but because a LOT of history is all about memorisation, especially of dates, i can't. i took history gsces when i was in high school but that was the one class i completely dropped. as in, i stopped going to the classes w the school's permission so i could work on other stuff which literally no one else did. like it was almost unheard of but understandable considering i'd flunked two exams completely like. i got single digit points.

but history has been and always will be a fascination for me and i just. i wish my memory wasn't so bad and that my issues w my history teacher's teaching style didn't sour the whole experience.

#shut up danni's talking #give me a good historical documentary about the most BORING topic and it will fascinate me #when i was a kid i was obsessed w learning abt the london blitz #one of my fondest memories is of my grandma telling me what life was like for her growing up near the tail end of the war #bc she was born in 1933 (which i had to ask my mum abt just now) and i do not remember any of the details of what she told me #and that infuriates me bc i want to keep my grandma alive in my memories but my shitty memory strikes again #i wish i spent more time just asking her about our family history and maybe writing it down #if anyone has any good history documentary recommendations please lmk
