Arc V Next Gen Headcanons

So I created up a Fruitship kid for FebYgoChallenge, and a bunch of headcanons along with her.

Under a read more because wow that got long, haha.

-Shun, Yuto and Ruri head back to Heartland to help rebuild, Rin and Yugo return to Synchro, Selena and Yuri stay in Standard because they don’t have anything to go back to in Fusion. Dennis returns to Fusion for a bit,t hen heads to Heartland.

-Sora also remains in Standard with Yuya and Yuzu.

-Because Standard was the least touched by the war, the press is the worst there, meaning the Lancers living there are frequently dodging them because they always want to talk. They saved four worlds after all, the press wants to know everything.

-Sawatari loves being the center of attention at first, it’s great. Until a lack of privacy became really annoying.

-Yuya was ok with it at first, until some prodding questions dredged up memories of the Synchro dimension he’d rather forget(lookin at Roger here). And nearly gave him a mental breakdown and it took the combined efforts of Yuzu and Sora to get him home.

-Paparazzi quickly learn that the Sakaki house is a place you DO NOT GO. Not after Yoko got her bike out, sat on it on the drive way and just, stared them down(after they nearly drove her son into a panic attack she decided enough was enough). A couple engine revs also helped scatter them. The Sakaki house soon becomes a good place to hide for the Lancers if they’re trying to avoid nosy reporters.

-This does die down after a few years, though after Sora and Yuzu form a pro tag duelling team, and Yuya follows in his father’s footsteps of being an Entertainment duelist, they end up back in it again.

-Yugo and Rin are pretty much adopted by Crow when he finds out they have no home. They’re 14 so the only have a few years before they're old enough to be on their own anyways. The three kids love them though so it’s all cool.

-Ed takes over Duel Academia(and works on fixing it and undoing everything Leo did), while Asuka takes over the Fusion branch of the You Show Duel School(as Yusho is back in Standard and Yoko will be damned if she’s letting him leave again).

-Speaking of, Yusho retires from duelling due to his leg injury, though he still teaches at You Show in Standard. Occasionally he makes special appearances at the school in the Fusion dimension, with Yoko(it was their compromise). He teaches, she does all the duelling. It works nicely and she doesn’t have to worry about he hubby going missing.

-When they eventually open a branch in Heartland, the entire Sakaki family turns up for the grand opening, Yusho and Yuya for obvious reasons, and Yoko b/c she is not letting her husband out of her sight again. Dennis absolutely teaches there. Sometimes all of the branches meet up and that’s just, a lot of kids in once place. But it’s fun all around.

-None of the three(Yuya, Yuzu and Sora) are really sure when they became a triad, they just, kinda did. The press however apparently failed to pick up on this and just assumed Yuya and Yuzu were dating and Sora was simply a close friend.

-Until one day, after a big championship win, Sora just grabbed Yuzu and kissed her. In front of the entire world. Suddenly the papers where whispering about infidelity and trying to figure out if it was Yuzu-Sora, Yuya-Yuzu or Yuya-Sora(as they did spend a lot of time together).

-Poor Yuya was left to explain that no, no one was cheating and yes he did know about their date last night, he simply wasn’t there b/c he had a splitting headache. They’re all dating each other. He cannot understand why this is so hard to understand.

-Reiji is used to dodging the press, so instead he offers assistance to Yuya and co. They finally take him up on the offer after Yuzu announces she’s expecting and the press descends upon them like vultures. Some privacy and peace is all they want while they adjust. A few burly bodyguards from Reiji (plus Yoko) help with this. A lot.

-Occasionally if they really need to hide from the press they just, head to visit Yuto and co for a bit. The Xyz dimension is a lot calmer on that front. Plus it lets them catch up.

-Yuzu actually didn’t know which one was the dad till after Sakura was born. Because working back, she realized that ah, she had been with both of them within the possible time frame. She did not have that problem with the twins, Yuya was in Fusion on work(at the You Show Duel School, he occasionally makes guest appearances at the schools) at the time.

-Yoko, Yusho and Shuzo are basically like ‘grandbabies!’ and spoil the munchkins. A lot.

-The counterparts (and Shun) are all basically honorary aunts/uncles to their kids and meet them a lot. Yuri would rather they not try to hand them to him when they’re babies though(he’s always terrified he’ll break them on accident). Older ones are fine though. They’re easier to handle and deal with.

-That said, Sakura’s first meeting with him was during a get together when she was a few months old. She had escaped her crib and latched onto his leg and clung to him all night(she cried whenever someone tried to take her away from him). Yuri was not amused, but had to deal, so he just sat around till she was tired enough to be put back to bed without complaint.

-Because of her family, Sakura was in the spotlight a lot as a small kid(despite Yuzu’s best efforts), leading to her disliking it a lot as she got older and actively hiding from it/from anything that puts her in the center of attention(at least when she’s the only one in the center of attention).

-Rin and Yugo become pro duelists and basically save every coin they earn from duelling. They eventually put it towards and actual house, among other things.

-Rin and Yugo do get married, but it’s small and at the courthouse and nothing fancy. The most money the spend is on some dressy clothes, the marriage license and some cake after.

-When everyone finds out about this they take it on themselves to throw them a proper wedding. All they gotta do is choose the wedding party(bridesmaids, groomsmen, best man, and maid of honour) and show up for it.

-They never have kids of their own, but they do adopt/foster. They adopt older kids, the ones less likely to be adopted, because they know what it’s like. Crow is momentarily thrown when they show up with a 10 year old and are like ‘meet your grandkid’ b/c this kid is to old and Rin was definitely not pregnant. Then it clicks.

-Over the years they adopt/foster numerous kids. Crow is very proud of them.

-Yuri kinda, bounces around for a bit trying to find a place to call ‘home’. He lives in Standard with Yuya, Yuzu and Sora for a bit, but when it becomes clear that he’s just a 4th wheel he leaves. He spends some time in Heartland, but being around Ruri and Shun like that, and that often is kinda, awkward, so he leaves.

-Eventually he ends up in Synchro and crashes at Yugo and Rin’s place. At the time they have two kids in their care, both around the age of 10. And he just, ends up staying. The kids are cute and seem to like him so, why not.

-Rin and Yugo realize he’s basically doomed when they come back late one night and he and the kids are crashed on the couch asleep, having stayed up to watch mom and dad duel(Yugo and Rin are both pro duelists). It takes Yuri longer to realize he’s been sucked into their life and never leaving.

-The first time Rin/Yugo kissed him (on the cheek) he was very confused because 1) ‘you kissed me in front of your spouse’ and 2) why?

-They basically have to spell it out for him and it takes a bit to get through to him that they have long since forgiven him for what happened because ‘for goodness sakes you were 14 at the time and we’re well into our 20′s, we’re not going to hold a grudge that long’. They might be married but they talked it over and are more than willing to make Yuri a part of them. And two becomes three and he realizes he’s found home.

-Sawatari and Selena was a surprise to pretty much everyone. But only after his ego simmered down a bit and he matured some more did it happen. Her reasoning is ‘he makes me laugh’(a la Jessica Rabbit) and Sawatari is just like ‘why wouldn’t I be head over heels for this strong awesome woman??’ She is amazing to him.

-Sawatari went the Entertainment Duelist route, rather than politics like his old man. He still sees Yuya as a rival but they are on far more friendly terms.

-She actually turned him down the first time he proposed, on the grounds of not being sure if she was ready, and not being sure if the relationship would last as they’d only been a thing for a few months. She told him if he really loved he and really wanted this, then to wait a year. If they were still together after a year then to ask her again. He did and she said yes.

-Their daughter has he dad’s diva attitude (’I am a Sawatari, so I am THE BEST obviously’) but also her mother’s take no shit attitude, leading to plenty of phone calls home from school b/c she took her mother’s advice and punched out someone harassing her (or Sakura) and got in trouble. Sawatari just wishes she’d wait until after school to do this stuff b/c then she can’t get in trouble with the school.

-Sawatari isn’t sure he has the whole ‘dad’ thing down but god will he try.

-Probably took lots of parenting tips from Yoko and Shuzo b/c Selena has no parents and Sawatari only has his dad to go off of. And his dad was, often more focused on his career than his son(not maliciously of course, he did try to be a dad). So he wants to know what to do.

-Despite Yuya and Sawatari being friends, and living in the same city, their kids didn’t meet until they were about 5/6 when they started school. They did not like each other at first. Once they hit it off though, they became inseparable.

-Gongenzaka took over his father’s school from him. Also doubles as back-up baby sitter.

-Reira becoming a teacher at LDS though. Not 100% on this one but it could work. He’d end up being that one teacher that’s popular with the students, both for being nice and b/c he’s cute(Reira being confused about why girls keep hitting on him/why do the female students get giggly around him, Reiji replies ‘it’s the Akaba genes’ ‘We’re not even related!’ ‘It’s still the Akaba genes little bro’)

-Yuto and Ruri’s place is like the place to go for peace and quiet. The war and the clean up gave them all the excitement they could want. Now all they want is to just relax and not worry about anything. A nice quiet life.

-They do enjoy having their friends and friend’s kids over though. It’s a popular meet up place for when everyone gets together(Yuri eventually gets over his awkwardness of being around the Xyz crew).
