Ohhhh!! Can we talk about the Pokemon AU?? What ideas do you have for professors and gym leaders? What about a regional champion?? I 100% think that Techno is the regional champion and Phil could be either a professor or part of the Elite 4! Tommy can be the scrappy teen that is trying to accomplish the gym challenges and try to fight Techno for the title! Dream can be his unofficial mentor the one that comes by when things get tricky with the evil team and then had a dramatic twist of “he is the villain but actually not, he is just a tragic figure”

Original pokemon AU (base plan):

The original headcanon I had for the pokemon AU is more based around cc!Dream with a dash of drama from canon linked here! You are absolutely right that Techno is the champion and has and will continue to challenge and enter competition even outside of his region! Phil can absolutely be one of the professors! He can be invested in the study of fossil or death >.< The gym leaders are pretty loose as I don't give much thoughts to that tbh, but I do think that Tina as grass leader, Puffy as water, etc. Maybe I will throw in the newer mafia, who knows? I definitely see Tommy, Tubbo and Ranboo as the trio working their way through gym challenges, stumbling into villain organisation and accidentally saving the world hahaha.

Dream in this AU is more laid back, not liking to battle but his pokemon has maxed out friendship and can definitely rain hell on any trainers foolish enough to approach with ill intention. He works in a pokemon daycare during his free time and will give out friendship eevee for those close to him. His care to the pokemon means that most of the eevees have good EV! He definitely gets dragged into the plot unknowingly, much to the dismay of his close friends.

This AU is mostly chill and just shenanigans!

The B side of the Pokemon AU:

This, this is the part where things start to derail for me because if I can have a pokemon AU based on the cc why not go all the way to c!Dream as well.

So this is an alternate Pokemon AU involving c!character. In this side of the AU, c!Dream still possess the revival book and because of that, he forces himself to release all his pokemon with the intention to perish witht the revival book. In the process of destroying the book, he accidentally intergrate the book with himself so we now have an immortal walking revival book that is Dream. Worried that he and any of his close ones will get targeted, he devoted himself a life of a lone hermit and proceed to travel the land in hope to find a way to truly end his existence. He does, however, perform small miracle act subtly whenever he passes by someone or some pokemon in need of help as a way to atone for his sins. He makes sure to do it discreetly so that he would not gather unintended attention.

Alas, sometimes people still put two to two together so he still occasionally gets targeted. What he doesn't know is that most of the people he helped one way or another, does in fact help cover up his trail, misleading any hunters after him. Dream has one pokemon willingly follow him; a stubborn Charcadet, which prove to be a good helper by saving Dream multiple time in their travel.

Dream can hold his own against pokemons in this AU. He kinda has to, as he doesn't have a companion pokemon of his own for the longest time. Phil, as the angel of Death or the guardian in pokemon term is actively tracking down Dream to detain the revival book, but after he witness the bond between Dream and Ceruledge, he let Dream go with the condition that should Dream one day run into any problem bigger than he could handle, he would find Phil to help.

Techno is one of the child Dream helped revive on a whim. He was born sickly and wasn't supposed to make it past the night, well, if Dream hasn't shown up like a wet cat on his doorway. Techno still makes fun of him on the off chance that they met. Because of the second chance, Techno was able to become an extraordinary trainer. He helps out Dream whenever he can and even offer a roof for the homeless Dream to stay in. Dream refused ofc, but he would crash in from time to time to rest.

Speaking of the B side, it leads to an uncontrollable spiral in which I start imagining Pokemon with any and most of my AUs. Like would syndicate!Dream has an Eevee as well or would he has a Arcanine, I can totally see him accidentally taming Zygrade (Dog) without knowing it as a legendary. Also witch!Dream would have a Hatterene. Cornelius can have a Floette, Hubert and Indeedee works because of the bulter theme. Can you see how I am absolutely normal and not being able to talk about this has only made me more normal?

8:11 anon here again. Wow. W o w. Brain empty but just. Wow.

Went through all the endings and then had to go back to Arrival Point S to cope with all the other ones. And, as expected, the first ending and S destroyed me. Cried at least two times. My god. It's been a while since media made me cry, and I certainly didn't expect to get so emotionally invested in CoE.

However! I have questions!! Spoiler-y ones? If you don't mind, of course. Sorry if it's a lot?? I'm definitely going to re-watch everything again to connect whatever is left.

First off: is there a "canon" ending? Surely S is what everyone wishes to be canon (although E is pretty good too, in its own way, definitely wouldn't want it to be canon, though) but is there a defined one by the developers? Actually, what even is the first ending gotten before S?

Second: what triggers change the endings? I figure that for deaths it's mostly a matter of wasting time, which is really neat and genuinely puts urgency into the situation.

Connected to that, what's the blue-colored person speaking at the end of most endings? The one who "guides" the player on what they missed to try again?

Third: honestly what (and who) the hell is Kanou. Man shows up as quickly as he dies, reappears in like two endings, commits suicide in both. Is he just the local cryptid? A doll? There's something going on with him, between the Told You So death, the text about murdering coworkers at a previous lab, and his corpse disappearing (and, in specific endings, showing up as...human? Dialogue specifies that)

Fourth: you mention the DLC, but also Hermits Room and Interlude, however I don't see them in the playlist? Do they have to be played specifically as there's no uploads?

Fifth: wow Utsugi is so incredibly fruity. My god that guy is gay, good for him, good for him. That's not a question just need to state it. Also Sanemitsu being emotionally not there ever and Atou threatening him every five seconds. Peak dynamic, love them all so much. Shinano being happy. S ending my beloved

Sixth: I heard something about a...cipher? An art book cipher? Or an ARG? Idk but if you're willing to explain.

Yes, there is a 'Canon' Ending'. S+ is considered the canonical ending! This actually answers the other part of this question: the Ch 8 Arrival point S goes through S (Future), which directly leads into S+ (Empyrean Point). The two endings are connected, and S needs to happen in order to achieve S+! OH ALSO. THERE ARE POST-S CHANGES, which i will put under the cut bc I have collected them <3 These technically happen in S+, but we don't see them bc we only check back in when Atou is in ch 8 already. The DLC (Records of Sanemitsu Isoi) takes place almost exactly 3 years after S+. (These are shown in the playlist after the Ch 4, 6, and 7 extras <3).

ENDING FLAGS: Fun bonus fact: the purple text will tell you what you missed, and this changes based on what you did wrong! S Root: get all the info, don't let anyone die. A Root: keep everyone alive but don't get all the info. Ensure that you have charged Shinano's Phone B Root: everyone alive but Shinano's phone was not charged or unlocked. C Root: Succeed in saving Yanagi. Fail in Saving Karen D Root: Succeed in Saving Karen. Fail in saving Yanagi E Root: EVERYONE DIES!! YIPPEEE Mx. Purple Text is something that you'll learn about in the DLC, so I'll RAFO you for now (Read and find out). It is purple specifically! (though i also made that interpeted it as blue at first sdajkldsjkal)

Kanou Flag: in Chapter Four, you can read Yuusuke Aiba's Journal without Kanou (this is shown in the extras for chapter 4). This starts the kanou flag. This is what triggers a couple of small changes surrounding Kanou (the quick flash of him in ch 6 comes to mind) and grants access to the kanou elevator scene. TLDR Kanou was infected with cells, which let him live a little longer, but not enough to grant abilities. They talk about dying as a 'human' because if he lives longer, his cells will morb and he'll become a doll or a creature. He also gives us a Note that says something like 'live for me'. This note gives us a buff during the origin beta boss fight (his "curse" protects atou <3)

YES there are ciphers!! there's an official artbook for COE (which unfortunately isn't being sold right now orz orz) Which has a few ciphers in it! The one that i was looking at is HORRIFICALLY warped (i genuinely don't think we were actually meant to solve it LMAO) but I solved it and a friend was kind enough to translate it for us! There is also a Cipher in DLC, and a few others in the DLC 2020 credits! I have solutions to all of those as well. It's less 'ARG' and more "here's some information hidden behind a cipher." They're not REQUIRED reading but they help a lot with theorizing, and I've been finding it to be a lot of fun :D

Headcanon A:  realistic

This man hyperfocuses like nobody's business. When he's in the middle of a particularly engaging build, it's not uncommon for him to go a couple of days building near-constantly before crashing when it's finally done. It's not uncommon, for larger builds, to find him just kind of passed out taking a nap in the half-finished crook of some roof somewhere, coat pulled tight around him and hat set over his face to block out the light as he snores softly. There's a bit of a running game-slash-joke, a lá Tegg, where if Scar is building and hasn't been seen actually doing the build for a few hours, that the first hermit to find the little nook where he's holed up for a power nap gets a prize.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

He's a terrible klutz. This one I think is... possibly realistic, given: see literally everything in S8, but it's also really funny, so. Just- Scar tripping into the Boatem Hole constantly. Scar walking into doorframes if they're not suitably wide enough. Scar doing his salesman's pitch and he stumbles over his own feet. Scar experiencing kinetic energy twenty times a day because oh god it's bad enough trying to be steady and coordinated on two feet, let alone with a pair of strap-on wings-

(His friends are nice about it, and build extra-wide doorways and suitable landing platforms for him. But still.)

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

He doesn't really feel like he fits in. Even though he's part of Boatem, and even though he in part deliberately holds himself apart because, haha, shady businessman, way better at this scamming stuff than the rest of you... It still niggles at him. He builds his base nestled in amidst the rest of theirs; he sets up a hat shop, and makes them all hats, as a gift; he offers to build a part of Grian's base, and gives Mumbo design advice, and asks for a tour of Impulse's factory, and openly and loudly admires Pearl's palace; and hopes that might close the invisible gulf he feels between himself and the rest of them.

It doesn't. He still feels... apart. Distant. Different. Not because they treat him poorly, or are excluding him, or anything like that, no- deep in his heart of hearts, he knows where the problem is. He knows where the invisible walls are coming from. And it's him. He just... has had them up for so long, he's not sure what will happen if he lets them down. If he trusts, if he's open and genuine and vulnerable and himself... god. What might happen then? The thought thrills and terrifies him in equal measure - and so the walls, and the distance, stay.

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

......Look, idk if I actually have this as a headcanon, but- the first thing that sprang to mind was. Little kitty ears. Grian's got his wings, which are pretty obvious, and Mumbo's half-potato now, which is even more obvious - but Scar wears his hat so often, and has such a healthy and volume-ified head of hair, that pretty much no one knows. His hat gets knocked off at some point, and someone notices the soft lil cat ears on top of is head, and is like how long have THOSE been there?! and Scar jams his hat back on and absolutely refuses to tell them.

(Word gets around. Some hermits become a little preoccupied with the scientific/magical mystery of how Scar acquired cat ears between one world and the next. And Some Hermits, not naming names, instead become preoccupied with how soft those ears probably are, and how velvety they might be to the touch, and whether this also means Scar purrs... Some Hermits get lovingly teased for being weird little horny bastards lmao.)

Mumbo?

A: What I think realistically

Mumbo is a robot! He has a human look like Zayne from Ninjago, and he only found this out when he messed up in his spookification machine. Because of that he can also “understand” his bases and Grumbot, and why he puts so much care into his machines ^^

B: What I think is fucking hilarious

This is also why Mumbo has no braincells outside of redstone, he is wired (literally) for one thing and one thing only lmao 

C: What is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends

Mumbo had the exact same breakdown that befell Grumbot when he discovered he was a machine this entire time. Iskall and Grian found him muttering about how if his life was all just coding and wires and if he really had a soul, which hit Grian right between the ribs because he was reliving the “death” of his son for a second time. 

Iskall managed to pull them both together, convincing Mumbo that he was as real as the rest of them no matter what he was, and Mumbo didn’t need a factory reset like Grumbot to be okay again. The incident really ended up effecting Grian more than anyone else at the end of the day, but he stayed silent about it. 

D: What would never work with canon but the canon is shit so I believe it anyway

Mumbo has a stutter! It doesn’t come out very often, but when it does it’s when he is tripping over himself in excitement trying to explain his newest machine. Every hermit thinks its very cute and endearing
