Do we think Turbo always had those sort of cartoony abilities that he does as King Candy?
Like the little floating hop he did while giggling about Ralph’s medal, the should-be physically impossible movement of his limbs at times, his use of Hammerspace, etc….

Yes I took the Transcoding Vanellope already had and outright made them trans in the AU teehee
Some explanation(Ignore random grammar mistakes and all that, I'm terrible at it and I wrote it down properly on my notes app while half awake.)
Venellope was originally the ruler of Sugar Rush, but when Turbo(and it's siblings) came along things changed. While yes, Turbo doesn't want to be a king due to the responsibilities outweighing the power gain in his eyes, he ALSO doesn't want to be under anyones rule. So, it originally planned to attempt to delete Vanellope, which was stopped in the process by it's siblings. They would loose it if they found out he went through it anyway, he ended up deciding on a different course of action. Instead, Turbo went about altering the memories of the citizens and racers so that they believed Vanelope was a manipulative tyrant.
Turbo afterwards encouraging the racers and citizens to rebel and overthrow Vanelope, which they soon did. Vanellope having to go into hiding.
They're still a glitch due to Turbo having damaged their code box when he originally was attempting to delete them.
Vanellope starts trying to disguise themselves to enter races, both so they can try to get along and befriend the other racers so they finally trust them, but also for Vanellope's movie reasoning. In short to be accepted. Though during this they also start realizing they're more comfortable when they disguise more masculinely and as a boy. Eventually realizing they'd rather be a boy, and by the time of the movie events, he settles on the name Vanillip as a prefered name.
Vanillip still hides in Diet Cola Mountain just like in the movie. Turbo and the others also still, practically double, outcast Vanillip for being a glitch on top of the fact he's percieved as a manipulative tyrant when that couldnt be further from the truth.
Also because why not, little Vanillip and Turbo/Candlonne icons i had made (I am planning on trying to make the others too)
Tumblr media
Below the cut is just some concept stuff involving his design because it was a bit difficult to finally settle on something
Tumblr media
Honestly there were more designs but the others got lost in the process unfortunately so i only got two i can properly show 😭

WELCOME TO TWISTED WONDERLAND
Vanellope meets TWST characters: Part 1
Tumblr media
Please enjoy.
Tumblr media
My name is Vanellope Von Schweetz, the fastest and best racer in a sugar rush game! Well, that was before, and now I stayed in the cool and awesome game called the Slaughter Race! The game was amazing! It’s like I never dreamt of. I know it’s a dangerous game but not as dangerous in my driving skills! Anyway, a few years back, Ralph and I were getting the steering wheel fast to save my game, but then this slaughter race became my home now - Correction, 2nd home. Honestly, I missed my 1st home and my old friends back in the arcade, but sometimes I visit, and Ralph also sometimes visited on the internet, bringing some burgers from burger time burger.
Where was I? - Oh! I’m having the best time of my life here! Driving anywhere I go without tracks and then lots of explosions are crazy! Hanging out with Shank and her crew was awesome! But do you know what’s more awesome? EXPLORING THE INTERNET MORE! I go to the search bar to ask Knowsmore if there are any games somewhere I could explore.
“Hey, Know more!” I greeted him cheerfully. He looked up to see my face and smiled. “Well, hello there, Vanellope! What brings you here?” Okay, now I’m about to ask him something exciting. I opened my mouth and started to ask him. “What game that something exciting that is full of adventures, wonders, magic - but not some oh my Disney or princesses, like something… twisted?” I guess? I hope he does his best to get what I ask him to find and hope it’s not the so-lame game.
“Oh, I found the game you were looking for.” I immediately looked at Knowsmore with a gasp of excitement and wanted to hear what is the name of the game. “What is it? Tell me!”
“Twisted Wonderland.” I pause. “Twisted Wonderland???”
He fixed his glasses. “Well, according to what you said: Something exciting that is full of adventures, wonders, and magic with an add of something twisted, you say.” He repeated what I said. “That’s all you’ve ever asked.” Welp, I better go and found out what is it.
“Great! Thanks, Knowsmore!” I quickly pressed Twisted Wonderland and was carried off by a pixel bar. Say goodbye to him.
While Knowsmore watches her go. “She didn’t ask what kind of game it is.”
Later, Vanellope finally here where she was looking for. It was beyond Oh My Disney. Vanellope looked at the creepy dark-looking place with some thorny vines, a giant coffin behind the giant mirror that looked like an entering doorway, and a title: Disney Twisted Wonderland magically glows in the front of the coffin. Vanellope thought it was weird why this place was spooky. She didn’t say something scary, but she’ll take it and go anyway. She can’t judge it quickly, she thought.
I entered the giant mirror to see what was inside. I didn’t know where I was, but when I first looked around, there were seven mirrors. “Huh?” Above the mirrors and read. “Pomefiore? Heartslabyul? Diasomnia? Octavinelle? Savanahclaw? Scarabia? Ignihyde?” What are these weird names? But it sounds unique.” Anyway, where should I start? Hmm? How about Heartslabyul? Here I go! With no questions, she runs up and enters Heartslabyul.
Woah!
Bunch of gardens, heart-shaped trees, red roses, weird-looking birds with long legs, etc. So this is Heartslabyul. Makes sense because it says, HEARTslabyul. Right?
I walked through the maze, and there were so many roses around the labyrinth. But I noticed some roses are dripping with paint. Huh? What on Gumdrop painted the roses with red paint? Should they buy actual RED roses? Weird.
Later, I smelled something sweet and went to see where is that coming from. Sweet mother of monkey milk! I spotted a strawberry tart at the table. Luckily no one was there but the tart in front of my eyes. I used my glitching powers so no one could see me trying to eat the delicious tart. Bite by bite until I realized I had eaten it whole tart. Sorry, but it’s delicious! I heard someone chattering, and they were going in this direction. Well, time to go before someone caught me.
After Vanellope leaves, a young man with red hair came to the tea party with four students following him to start eating the strawberry tart. Once they finally came, the tart was gone. All it’s left were small crumbs. They are all shocked, but mostly the man with red hair. His face was boiling red. “Who eats the tart??!!!” He turned around to look at the Heartslabyul students furiously. They were scared, but they knew it wasn’t any of them tried to eat the tart. Another young man with glasses stood up and explained it wasn’t any of them eating the tart because all of the Heartslabyul students just arrived. He was right. No one ever tried to eat it because they knew the punishment. He wonders who eats the tart.
I finally left Heartslabyul. Phew! That was a close one. If I got caught, maybe I go straight from punishment. I laughed, but I had to pay for whoever baked that tart and apologize later.
I left the area and went to the next. Honestly, I didn’t know where I was going because this place was huge. I go to some locations with long wooden tables and a chimney. But one thing I noticed was a tall man with horns facing the screen. He was surrounded by some floating circle stuff. Question: why was he standing there? And it hit me. Oh! I guess players playing with him while standing on the screen? I guess.
The player noticed a child in the background. Weird.
I glitched myself and stopped from where I was now. “What is this place?” I think it was a hallway - Wow! It’s so nice and breezy. I was standing and watching the view outside the building. Suddenly, I feel someone behind me. “Hee hee, who is this lost little nemo doing here~?” Oh no.
To be continued…

|| Get to know RALPH WRECK who’s THIRTY-FIVE years old and works as the SUGAR RUSH ARCADE OWNER in town. He is from CORONA and is often times mistaken for SEBASTIAN STAN while others say he reminds them of RALPH from WRECK IT RALPH. ||
Ralph has been getting himself in trouble for as long as he can remember. Raised by a father who spent most of his time in and out of jail for a handful of violent crimes, Ralph was taught from a young age to solve all his problems with violence. If someone disagrees with you, if you don't like what they're saying, if they're being an asshole, there's only one solution — you punch them. And that's exactly what Ralph did. For most of his elementary school years, he found himself in the principle's office for fighting. Ralph always had a good reason for it — one of his classmates was making fun of his family, another student was making fun of the class nerd, he was standing up to a bully — it didn’t matter, it all ended up the same way: with Ralph in detention.
At the pleas of his mother, Ralph started to check his temper as he entered high school. Or at the very least, he tried. His reputation proceeded him, and he started to find that even if he didn’t go looking for trouble, it seemed to find him. He wasn’t starting fights, but if someone tried to pick a fight with him, he knew how to finish it. Despite his reputation, Ralph always insisted that he wasn’t a bad guy, he was simply misunderstood. Of course, not everyone bought it, and he found it harder and harder to make friends. While there were some people willing to look past his reputation and gruff exterior, most found it best to avoid his brand of trouble.
By the time Ralph graduated high school he had been officially labelled a “bad guy”, and he spent most of his twenties trying to out run his reputation. But no matter where he went, trouble always seemed to find him. He’s practically notorious for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but what can he do? The guy just has bad luck. A few of his more serious fights earned him probation and charges for disturbing the peace, and since then he’s been working harder than ever to clean up his act.
Growing up, Ralph spent a lot of time at the Sugar Rush Arcade. It was the only place he was guaranteed to stay out of trouble, and he was able to get all his aggression out on the games rather than on other people. It became almost like a second home to him — he had a job there by the time he was in tenth grade and he’s never looked back. When the owner decided it was time to retire eight years ago, he handed the keys over to Ralph rather than closing up shop. The place has been his pride and joy ever since.
Always seeing himself as a bit of a social outcast, Ralph has always taken a liking to the underdogs and done all he can to help them. Whether it’s something as simple as slipping the poor kids extra quarters at the arcade so they can keep playing, or jumping in to stop (and often fight) bullies when they start to go too far, all he wants to do is help.
Ralph has known Vanellope ever since she was a little kid. She used to come into the arcade almost every day to play the racing games, and Ralph always found himself looking out for her, even as she teased him mercilessly. He’s found himself incredibly protective over her, becoming her number one fan and supporter as she grew up. Ralph still isn’t exactly sure how he managed to fall into a father figure role, but he would do absolutely anything for her, no questions asked.
The day Ralph realized he had super strength was possibly the scariest day of his life. He woke up just like any other day, but something felt different somehow. He couldn’t put his finger on the reason until he left his house for the day and ripped the door clean off his hinges. He stood there, helpless and confused, unsure what was happening. He’s always been strong, but never like this. For the rest of the day, the same thing happened. He went to his favourite café for breakfast and the coffee cup shattered in his hand as soon as he picked it up. He tried hitting the Pac-Man game at work when it ate a kid’s quarter and he ended up punching a hole in the side of the machine, putting it completely out of commission. He went to hug Vanellope when she came to visit him as work, just as he always did, but this time she yelled in pain — “Are you trying to kill me, Stinkbrain?”. It took him lying awake almost the whole night to realize what was happening to him. That this must be one of those powers he’d heard so much about.
While extreme super strength might sound fun to some — a real superhero sort of power — Ralph was devastated by the development of his power. After spending years trying to convince the residents of Corona Island that he’s not a bad guy, that there’s no reason to be afraid of him, he’s finally giving them a reason to be afraid. He closed down the arcade for a week, cutting off contact with everyone as he claimed to be sick, taking the time to figure out his power. Of course he couldn’t get much of a handle of it on his own, and it took his closest friends practically barging down his door — that he haphazardly fixed — to start making any progress. With their help and encouragement he was able to make some sense of his powers and he can usually walk into a room without destroying everything he touches. If he’s not careful he’ll crush whatever he’s holding in his hand, but Ralph can almost go back to living like he did before.
Ralph increased his volunteering after learning about his power. While he always had a desire to be seen as a good guy, it’s grown exponentially ever since he started destroying everything in his path. He wants the people in his life to know that they can still trust him, and the people that are still dubious of him to know that he’s worth trusting. There are still people that are afraid of him, caught up in his reputation, but he’s started to see more people smiling at him as he walks down the street.
They say not to care too much what other people think about you, but Ralph takes other people’s opinions of him very seriously. He may try to mask his insecurities with jokes, but he’s always been rather insecure and cares deeply about what other people think about him. His self-worth is tied up in the opinions of others, and he can’t help but be down on himself on those days where people outwardly show disdain or contempt for him.
Ralph has always been incredibly clumsy. No matter how careful he tries to be, he’s always finding new ways to trip over his own two feet. It’s not uncommon for him to burn himself when he’s cooking, drop something fragile, run into a wall, door, or other person if he’s not looking, or find some other way to injure himself. He’s become very good at first aid because of it, and has made “sorry” a very commonly used word in his vocabulary.
King of dad jokes. He thinks he’s absolutely hilarious, so be prepared to groan.
Very into action movies. Say what you will about it, but The Fast & the Furious franchise is his favourite and he has strong opinions about the proper ranking of all nine movies.
Ralph has a pretty big sweet tooth, and his favourite kind of sweets is pie. It doesn’t matter the kind of pie, he loves them all. Every year on his birthday, he has a birthday pie instead of a cake.
Don’t let his reputation or “tough guy” exterior fool you. Ralph is a huge nerd — something his closest friends are all too happy to tell anyone that mentions him.

Considering that he doesn’t smile that much, those that don’t know him tend to think of Ralph as a rather serious guy, but he actually has a pretty great sense of humour. Even if it is a tad juvenile at times — that’s what he gets for hanging out with the kid. Wreck it Ralph 2
Thoughts, spoilers and some ideas below cut
So, I saw Wreck it Ralph 2 recently and I’ve had a little time to think and process it. And...I liked it. I liked it, but I don’t love it as much as I did the first.
Tumblr media
The first one was top tier Disney/Pixar to me. It had fantastic characters, great story and world building, probably the best use of their villain twist and a fantastic climax.
This one...It had a lot of interesting concepts, but it felt like it was trying to use them all without giving them real development. Again, the characters were GREAT! I love Yess and Shank, and Spamly was really funny. But they divided so much of their attention between them and what was going on with Ralph and Vanellope, it didn’t feel like either Shank or Yess--mainly Shank--were as developed as they could’ve been. Having some questions at the end of the movie is fine but feeling like major characters are strangers not so much. As much as I loved the cameos by the princesses, I almost feel like they detracted from time that could’ve been spent on the story.
I also felt like the climax was not that satisfying, especially compared to the first movie. It’s fair to compare them since this is the sequel. Compared to King Candy/Turbo’s villainous arch and reveal, and his buggy final form, and Ralph willing to sacrifice himself to blow up the bugs and save the game; compare that to just...a bunch of mindless Ralph’s? And talking it out? I mean, the message is a good one, but the unlike the inspiring reiteration of the first, this one just kind of shoved the message in your face. There was no gravitas either. What was at stake when the ralphs were rampaging? Oh, people’s internet went down, someone lost their shopping cart at Amazon--big whoop? The last one had bugs taking over everything and Turbo wanting to erase Ralph and Vanellope and sugar rush basically.
Tumblr media
I also feel like like Vanellope staying in Slaughter Race at the end is...confusing. Like I get it, she feels Slaughter Race is an upgrade, but she is the MAIN CHARACTER of Sugar Rush. No one is going to wonder where she went? (That’s something that did bother me before too, like did no one wonder where “King Candy” went after that day? Or people who had played the game other places wondering who the hell he was and where Vanellope was?) What if they think the game is broken again? And what do people playing Slaughter Race think she is, some kind of Gremlin? She sticks out like a sore thumb! The developers are probably confused as fuck too, what if they take her out of the game? It feels like the ending was forced based on the message, rather than actually focusing on a resolution. (part of this I could’ve forgiven if they’d enclosed her car and made her out to be a mysterious racer like the Stig from top Gear, but it still would’ve raised a lot of questions.)
All in all I think it had interesting concepts but it didn’t really meet my expectations. I realize the first one set the bar high imo, but this one just didn’t feel like it tried to reach it. Also, not enough Calhoun and Felix. You dare rob me of Jane Lynch, even when she is acting straight? How dare?!
What would I have preferred? Well, mainly, something different as far as a villain. Ralph being his own worse enemy is poetic, but it wasn’t pushed hard enough. At the very least, rather than making a bunch of copies of Ralph, what if the virus was the sort that actually infected something? First you could have an infected Vanellope, Ralph freaking out and having to get her to that gate thing (which, build up, no pay off on that front) and his confession then. But then the virus gets him and it just turns him into the kind of villain people expect. He just leeches power from other sources, getting bigger and and bigger and more volitile. Maybe the Yess and the Slaughter Racers all come out to try and distract him while figuring out how to get the virus out of him. He causes a lot more trouble for the netizens, maybe even trying to destroy sites/servers including Slaughter Race. Finally Vanellope gets through to him and Ralph actually has a battle with himself (physically and mentally) to split and stop the virus from wrecking the internet.
What I’d like even more is something to do with Slaughter Race. Maybe mirroring the first movie, there’s a “ghost” in the game--a former character that was taken out before release. Making it timely for the time, he’s your typical white male lead--let’s call him Scrapper.
Lets say in initial development, Slaughter Race was a much different game, much more generic. More clean lines, flashy cars, but no real substance or story. It was an “open world” like Slaughter race, but there was nothing to do outside of just driving against other players and Scrapper’s team. Scrapper was initially named something generic like Stephen or Charles (Arthur?) and was the initial leader or what would later be Shank’s crew in this game, and he liked it as it was because he was the center of attention. The game was made for him he felt rather than having to fit into the game. Cocky, self-congratulating, wants to win at any cost—and pretty much that way in character and out unlike Shank. Shank in this stage was also more boringly named, second in command. She wanted to focus on making the game interesting to play for the players, and was usually the voice of reason for Scrapper. They were good friends.
However, in the in first round of play testing, the game wasn’t testing well. Players found nothing really interesting about the game’s design or world, and they found Scrapper difficult to beat, but also annoying and redundant. He had his fans of course, but most felt there was nothing new or exciting about him or the game. They liked his car though. Many of the open beta players actually gravitated more towards Shank, finding her mysterious and much more interesting, wanting her to be a bigger part of the game. They also wanted more story, and a more interesting setting than the sleek, modern city, with stuff to actually do other than just going around a race track on a set pattern. They wanted something darker and grittier. It got to the point where the developers reworked the script and setting from scratch to make Slaughter Race. Scrapper wasn’t keen on the chaos, the craziness, compared to his modern utopia but it was much more well received. Shank was down with the changes, enjoying the freedom and the creativity it allowed, and tried to convince Scrapper this was good. But “Scrapper” was still not well liked. So a further rework was done before a full release to make Shank the leader, and Scrapper her second in command. To do this, they copied Scrapper’s racing abilities over to Shank, and nerfed him down.
Scrapper was not happy to say the least. Shank didn’t want him upset, still considering him a friend, but at the same time she embraced the changes and was flourishing. She was also a great leader and the gang was doing much better too. She’s happy, she just wishes it wasn’t at his expense. Scrapper starts belittling Shank, making her insecure about herself. There are those who are really mean about it online too--which is how Shank met Yess. Yess saw a video of her and came to meet her, wanting to feature her. She really helps bolster Shank’s confidence and they become good friends. Scrapper isn’t happy but they try to do their jobs. He gets more and more bitter until he starts lashing out in game, trying to mess things up for Shank. The players and developers think it’s some sort of bug and try to figure it out. Scrapper fans think it’s hilarious and encourage him, so to speak. Shank and Scrapper fight a lot until finally, it gets so bad he crashes the game one day. The developers decide he’s too buggy and write Scrapper out of the game. But he’s still there, lurking behind the scenes…but not very powerful now.
Enter Ralph. Scrapper is able to narrow in on Ralph’s distrust/jealousy of Shank and gets him to where he can talk to Ralph alone. He plays on Ralph’s insecurity and his past with Vanellope when Ralph tells him. he weaves a sob story about Shank stealing his code and his spotlight and Ralph is more convinced Shank is just like Turbo and a danger to Vanellope. Scrapper convinces Ralph to help him out of the game and, with Spamley’s help, down to the dark web to find a way to get his body back.To do so requires a virus that lets him take over other codes. Ralph brings it back to him and Scrapper starts by taking the code of some of the other NPC’s, abosrbing them. Ralph is horrified, but now Scrapper is going on a binge, taking the codes and data from everyone and everything, altering them back to what he wants.
The altering game puts Vanellope and Shank in danger and they barely manage to get away in Shanks car outside of the game while Scrapper still is going wild. Ralph confesses, Vanllope is livid again that he would do this, and shank tells them the truth about Scrapper. (The lesson becomes more about getting rid of toxic people in your life as much as following your dreams and Vanellope is still mad at Ralph). Scrapper escapes the game and starts causing even more havoc outside of it, Yess comes and chews him out, showing him comments about how the majority hate this “new” look for Slaughter race. He goes ballistic. Ralph tries to fight him and gets abosrbed, and the two personalities are warring with each other through the net. Vanellope and Shank (and maybe the princesses if we wanted to include them still, because I would) manage to get him down and Spamely and the others bring something to extract Scrapper and Ralph. Scrapper fights back and for a moment it seems like Ralph might’ve been deleted. But he’s okay. Vanellope forgives him and Ralph makes a promise with her--rather than doing the same thing all the time, they’ll find new things to do to keep life interesting, and he’ll understand if sometimes she wants to go to Slaughter Race as a guest character--he’ll stay home and watch the highlights.
That’s my take on this, I’m mostly just getting it down so it will leave me alone in my head.

Caution: Ralph Breaks the Internet Spoilers Ahead
As much as I enjoyed this movie, there was a narrative decision at the end that really bugged me. And so, like any good fanfiction writer, I came up with my own headcanon to explain it!
My fellow WIR fans should consider themselves lucky I don’t write for this particular fandom, as I could spend thousands of words setting it up, but to make a long story short...some game characters receive a few basic “personality templates” when they’re programmed, often based on past characters in their genre type. This is why, for instance, viewers originally saw Ralph as an analogue for Donkey Kong. Their characters are different, but their games and mechanics are similar, so they have a few pre-downloaded characteristics to make them seem like they’re from the same game genre. This works great with most game genres, allowing game designers to streamline their process and provide similar, yet different, experiences to gamers.
However, something went horribly, horribly wrong with the racers. Since they’re relatively new, there are only a few of these preset models to choose from. And I think we all know whose code some of these racers were built with...
A good chunk of them are stable, but by and large, they have a much higher chance of going Turbo than other characters. Not all of the Turbo model racers have bad intentions like the original did, though. Some really do want to take over a game, and they tend to be defeated quicker than their predecessor. But others just want a new experience, one where they might never be unplugged, ever.
Vanellope doesn’t realize it, but she has way more in common with her old enemy than she thinks. Maybe it’s even part of the reason he had been able to beat her so easily. But, in any case, seeing her game get unplugged traumatized her far more than she’d ever let on. That, plus her boredom with her current existence, made her turn to the Internet, a world of danger, but also...comfort.
The people there treat her better than she was treated in her old game. She’s not trapped in some silly little box, she can let loose and let go. Most importantly of all, no one there remembers when she was a weak, defenseless glitch. And then, without realizing it, she starts to understand why King Candy did what he did all too well.
It isn’t until Slaughter Race’s fourth update that she realizes the full magnitude of what she’s done. She tells herself that it was her dream, it was her dream, and it’s supposed to come true.
She tells herself that taking over Sugar Rush had been King Candy’s dream, too. That sometimes, dreams can be wrong. That they aren’t worth it sometimes, when they cloud the best parts of your life and make you take them for granted. Just like that, every last bit of her decision to enter Slaughter Race comes back to her, and this time, she isn’t sure if she can make the right decision. She loves both worlds too much.
“I will never be good, and that’s not bad. There’s no one I’d rather be than me.” Ralph takes comfort in these words. These days, Vanellope isn’t so sure that she can. But someday, she’d like to be able to hear them the way he does again.
