I really love the OST for RWBY I wish more shows did their OST like RWBY where you could listen to it on its own and still have the story told to you clearly.
Also Volume 4 and 5 really going ham with the background music where they mix some of the character themes whenever anyone mentions stuff from the previous volumes.
The songs help put some of the things the characters do in perspective before we even meet them fully, like when Salem first appeared at the end of volume 3 and we heard "Divide" at the end. We don't know who she is yet, but the song tells us her plans and thoughts (and it made me feel an utter sense of hopelessness as I clicked on that "next episode" button to volume 4)
Or how "The Triumph" is a direct response to "When it Falls" where the central message is that everyone is ready to get back out there and stop evil.
the whole ost is full of bangers i love it
#rwby#rwby fndm#when I first rewatched episode 1 i forgot how much of a banger this will be the day was#personally my favorite opening is “Time to say goodbye” just because it gives me the most nostalgia

So, I just started rewatching Once Upon A Time, and oh my I forgot just how much of a BANGER Season 1 was! And I have thoughts on Episode 1. Not sure how often I'll make these posts, but thought I'd share a summary of my thoughts and questions as I rewatch the show. Please keep in mind I haven't watched the show in years so I don't remember a lot of the details and may get things wrong. Feel free to comment, if you'd like!
First 5 minutes and hot dang the wardrobe goes hardcore!
…did rumple just crawl from the ceiling? Was he resting there? Like a Bat?!.... okay now I need fanart of him with bat/vampire wings. Gosh dangit!
Even though they had Rumple locked up they all believed in his story pretty much without much question after a little proof. Snow White even knew to keep a deal with him, giving him her daughter's name. Rumple also used words like 'she is OUR only hope' including himself with them all in victims of the curse. He wasn't trusted or liked, but the others seem to know he wasn't actively against them and listened. They believed in the future, he told. I find that interesting that even though they are hostile to him on some level they believed in him enough that Emma would come save them. Also shows the worlds/their ideas of how good and evil is black and white with no grey. Wonder if this changes in the characters as the show progresses. I can't remember.
Is it true what the guard said that if Rumple knows your name, he has power over you? Or is that just a nasty false rumor about the dark one?
Okay but Regina's looking Emma over when they first met? I SAW that!
End of episode is when Emma meets Rumple and he gets his memory back, and when he leaves, he SMIRKS! MY heart and libido can't take it!

SPN Season 2 Rewatch
When I talk about “classic spn” this season is absolutely what I think about (along with one and three). Season 2 has so many banger episodes! I took notes and for a number of episodes all I really had to say was “wow this was great!” So I won’t mention every episode just the highlights.
Episode 1: Direct continuation of the last season closer is either S Tier or D Tier storytelling depending on the show and this one works for me! Getting injured, scared Sammy to defend his family is just *BEAUTIFUL* I appreciated the quickness of Dean realizing and accepting that he was dead/dying just like I did the first time I watched the opener when it originally aired. Too often the “I didn’t know I was dead” trope gets dragged out waaaaay too long. Also, hi Tessa! (Guess I’m adding you to the list of characters who got killed off too soon? But am I? IDK. I wish you had popped up more often but you got a comparatively decent send off. I mean you joined a crazy, celestial death cult of suicide bombers, but at least you had some sort of characterization/character arc in the end.)
* Side note, I always forget how soon John gets killed off in the series. Back in the day, in the week-to-week era of TV, I guess the time in between episodes really made the show seem longer which in turn gave John a longer life in the imagination of the audience (or at least just in mine).
Episode 2: This is one of the classic episodes. The first mention of Sam’s fear of clowns and a great example of his focus on Dean’s grief/pain as a way of avoiding talking about his own. Some times in the past when I’ve rewatched this one as a standalone it’s bothered me because it deals more with grief than the actual MotW. But as part of a series rewatch it really does work in the overall scheme of things. Of course it does. You gotta have an episode where the characters grieve, otherwise the show wouldn’t make sense. And here we see Dean’s knee jerk reaction to loss/grief is anger. Always anger. EXPLOSIVE anger. And he takes it out on Sam (verbally) and his Baby (physically). Sam meanwhile turns inward. His first reaction is guilt/self criticism. Something else that we will see remains largely consistent over the run of the show. Gotta love the character establishment of these early seasons.
(Just as an aside: Dean x Jo gave me the ick back in the day. Couldn’t stand it. We’ll have to see how it goes this time around, but as of them flirting in this episode it wasn’t so bad. Still not a fan of their interactions, but at least it got Dean started on his journey of not being a complete asshat with regards to women. Or maybe not a journey so much but at least it’s something he thinks about even if he is still acts like a dog to chicks.)
Episode 3: “ Bloodlust”, I didn’t recognize this one until the brothers were playing doctor at the morgue and then I was like “Ohhhh, yeah.” Well, hello, Gordon. Forgot you got started so early on in the show. Also I love the detail in canon of the boys being so isolated and out of touch with the rest of the Hunter community that they didn’t know existed. John, my dude, why did you keep your boys so insular? I know on your mind it was about keeping them safe, but honestly WTF?
TARA!!!!!!! My beloved!!!!! Thank you for complicating the monster/person narrative. Too bad the show struggled with maintaining a moral core, but you had a good episode. And your death (later on) was at least more fulfilling than your last.
And of course that ICONIQUE line of “he’s the only one that gets to call me that”!
Also also, the casual sexism in Dean believing Gordon over Ellen even if only for a little bit. That really hit the spot for me. Like fingering a bruise. Speaking as a woman, that line really hit home. Subconscious though it might be, there is an inherent sexism woven into the characters and the world of SPN at large from the start. (*Just like in real life!* WHO SAID THAT?!) But in SPN it goes all the way up the spiritual ladder to the literal Creator, Chuck. His anti-sister/anti-woman bias really did contaminate the world he created. A solid, unspoken metaphor for systemic sexism buried in the lore. Too bad the show never really grappled with it fully. Too busy being the masculine inverse of Buffy.
Episode 4: Oh that sweet, sweet self-hating Dean angst!
Episode 5: Another banger! Gotta love the hippie dippie Andy (he’s basically Dean’s spirit animal). I like Ellen standing up to the boys in this one. Jo’s overt flirting is not my thing, but it still wasn’t too bad here. I guess I just don’t like her being attracted to him rather than being presented as an equal/colleague. There are so few women hunters in the show and I would’ve loved for Jo to be treated more as an ally than a love interest. There’s something Freudian about him being a stand-in/mirror for the father she lost that I don’t like it. Some do though. I can see the appeal generally, but it still gives me the ick which is hilariously hypocritical given I ship Wincest I know. But queer incest doesn’t bother me the way hetero, daddy issue stuff does. (Or maybe I’m just jealous? Who wouldn’t want to bang Dean if they got the chance?)
Episode 6: Wow, this one was okay. Surprise, surprise. Ellen gave an amazing performance. Jo wasn’t annoying (I feel like teen-me thought she was, but that was a long time ago so I can’t be sure) still she did a good job. I liked her getting that stabby moment with the ghost and for calling Dean out on his sexism. Yes, he had a legitimate reason for being concerned given her lack of field experience, but I liked her taking charge of her own life. The added drama of John being involved with Jo’s father’s death was excellent storytelling.
Episode 7: A solid one. I don’t think I have ever rewatched this one since it aired, which is a shame. Linda Blair gave a good performance. Her acceptance of the whole supernatural thing was a bit rushed, but it wasn’t too bad. The novel format of the episode, the start being told in flashbacks, helps it stand out compared to the other multitudes of generic ghost/vengeful spirit stories. Loved all the snark from the brothers.
Episodes 8-11: Awesome, no notes. This season has really been hitting hard. To me this is the embodiment of spn: tightly contained, fast paced, and focused entirely on the brothers as it should be.
Episode 12: Hi, Henrickson! You are such an unlikable dick in your first few appearances.
Episode 13: OH that sweet godboy angst from Sam is delicious. Nom nom nom. He’s a believer and “feels like I could drown in (so much evil)”. UGH. By this we are fed.
Episode 14: “Born Under A Bad Sign” fretting, worried Dean my beloved! Deranged devotion from Dean my other beloved! Meg!Sam you were awesome! Sexily monstrous Sam is 🔥🔥🔥 as always. Jo was a solid side character, don’t like that she gets banged up and threatened sexually, but this show didn’t go for feminist points, so that sort of thing is unfortunately par for the course. So was the binding sigil burned into Sam’s arm or… what? Bobby definitely took a hot iron to him too, so how long did all that take to heal? I know it's a show, but in-universe, what's the explanation…?
Episode 15: Another BANGER! Love the bickering. Hello Gabriel!
Episode 16: “Roadkill” one of my early season faves. I enjoyed it back in the day since it has a more unique set-up/gimmick. I think it holds up really well as a standalone episode.
Episode 17: “Heart” Doc Fraser my girl!!! Madison, the second link in the chain of Sam’s Peen of Death played by yet another 2000s actress that popped up in all the usual TV suspects. Love the tears Sammy baby. And that bod 🔥🔥🔥
Episode 18: “Hollywood Babylon” I love the trope of Dean just getting absorbed into the subcultures he encounters. Here being a PA and the next episode a prisoner, he blends in so easily and I like how Sam always reacts so astonished/annoyed. Like Sammy baby stop being surprised that your weirdo of a brother blends in so well with other weirdos.
Episodes 19 @ 20: CLASSICS! NO NOTES!
Episodes 21/22: “All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. 1 & 2” So this is it. The big kahuna. When I first watched the show, up until this point, I didn’t ship the brothers. I thought they were hot of course, but up until these episodes I had thought they just happened to be pretty close. These episodes changed all that!
The depth of Dean’s despair and the lengths he went to, were the sparks that lit the way to the fangirl shipper life I now enjoy. This is where they tipped into weirdcest/wincest for me. And I’ve never looked back!
I love the little hints of worldbuilding in here: Azazel mentions “other generations” like maybe this demonic scheme of his has been attempted before and will be attempted again later; the random hellmouth that Colt built a system of railroads to contain; the fact that Mary knew Azazel before the night of her death complicating her narrative as a random unfortunate victim of evil. I don’t think she should’ve been made a hunter from a dynasty of hunters, but I do like the implication here in this episode that something happened between her and Azazel pre-series. (And Sam not immediately revealing that truth to Dean is peak withholding!Sam behavior.)

✨The bad batch season 1 personal vibes✨
The finale aired today and I wanna get my overall feelings regarding the season out of the way before i repress it all.
My overall feeling is kinda lukewarm, while the first episode and some other eps were absolute bangers i never felt like the show hit that same level of excitement the first episode did. I feel this way due to many of the expectations i had after the first ep werent met. But im sure everyone had expectations that werent met so that isnt really a fair critique, but compaired to what was given instead i cant help but feel like there where many missed opportunities.
The first issue i had being that this show isnt really about “The bad batch”, most of the screentime and character development is given to Hunter and Omega whilst Wrecker got some smaller moments here and there. But Echo and Tech might aswell been replaced with a cutouts. Tech only served to give exposition or come up with escape plans whenever the plot called for it and echo....was there. And Crosshairs case i find the most aggrivating, how can you give one of the characters the most intriguing plotline and show us the absolute bare minimum? When one of the biggest aspects of the show is showing the rise of the empire why would not parts of that be shown through Crosshairs pov?
So despite the show being called The bad batch its more focused on Hunter and Omega. Personally i didnt find their relationship intressting enough to be main focus of most episodes. Reason why i feel that way is partly because we have seen this format before, the parent-child dynamic is nothing new in star wars especially in the last ten years with Anakin-Ahsoka, Kanan-Ezra and Djin-Grogu. what could have improved this would have been to have more of the other batch members take part in “parenting” omega, instead of having Hunter act as the sole parental figure. This would have allowed for more characters to shine and show more aspects of themselves we might not have seen before, like what would it look like to have Tech try to console Omega after a difficult mission? What skills could Echo teach Omega to make her a better Batch member?
Another aspect i disliked is how it felt like alot of episodes where just filler, so much time was spent with the Batch flying around the galaxy doin odd jobs, many of those episodes focused little on the charactersation or development of the cast. The few story relevant episodes we got were few and far inbetween, ill never forget having to wait 3-4 episodes for a follow up on the war crimes Crosshair commited.
Whilst im on the topic of crosshair, i found it a little dissapointing how crosshair was basically turned into just some grunt villian, the first ep sets it up to make it look like crosshair was gonna be a real threat to the Batch, but instead Crosshair is just treated like Team Rocket and every time him and the Batch cross paths they treat it like its sotcha inconvenience.
The bad batchs lack of agency regarding crosshairs rescue was another factor i took issue with, in the finale Hunter tries to make it seem like him and the rest wanted him back but in no point in the show apart from an short comment in episode 4 did they express in anyway they were planning on getting him back. And it makes it even more frustrating when they were able to rescue an ex-seperatist and a whole family from right under the empires noses but never once was the question about their brothers rescue ever brought up. It just felt like the writers purposly gave the characters dementia and just completely forgot about their brother who, for all we knew, was being kept against his will within the empire.
In regards to the finale, i kinda hated it at first but came to like after three rewatches. There are still many uncertainties like it not being completely clear wether or not crosshairs chip is actually out or not with how he keeps clutching his head (like boy you need a aspirin?) I was majorly mad they left him again but its probably gonna be apart of some bigger character arc for him next season. And the other batch members feelings regarding crosshairs supposed ‘betrayel’ still need some exploring.
Overall the show was fine, but with many of the characters lacking in screentime and the focus feeling off i felt like it could have been better. Will i still watch season 2? Yes, because i still like the characters and hope to see more development but most importantly i still want my dream family reunion between the characters. I dont like being left in a bad mood and would appreciate it if Filoni fixed it, thanks :)

Me talking about the tv show because I just finished my rewatch & I’m absolutely obsessed yet again
Aka a viewing guide
Spoiler warning
Sorry this is so long omg- I probably forgot so much too
Pilot:
Honestly the only true plot that interested me was Tim Shepard & Tim Shepard only. Steve’s care was pretty cool. Some dope Stevepop moments. Nice tarry content. Just nice Darry content over all. Dallas’s scene in the beginning keeps sending me thoughjskakfk
Ep 1:
Honestly I hate hate hate what they did to Sodapop’s character I absolutely hate it. They did him so freaking dirty. But we love pro choice Steve & Two Bit was also pretty scrumptious in this episode as well. I dislike this episode. It’s a no for me.
Ep 2:
This one is smack full of delicious tarry content for everyone to gobble on. Darry is absolutely scrumptious and I love the whole dynamic between him and Tim. I, again, hate soda in this episode. I hate him so much it’s unreal. Why is he like that. But I do love the way they did Buck so oh well. Kinda sad about the lack of Stevie.
Ep 3:
Definitely my favorite episode because iykyk. Steve is just absolutely scrumptious omg they really did a musical episode huh. And that song was really a banger huh. And he really had to look that good? Also Two but was absolutely scrumptious. The whole greaser band was a damn treat I wish we got more off. I will not be addressing the Ponyboy situation because no. Disgusting. Absolutely vile & perverted. No thank you & never again. But omg I cannot describe to you how amazing the band is guys ugh I cannot I cannot they are so cute & I want more content pronto. Also the bonding between Darry & Buck was kinda cute too. Like dar has a bit of a father figure again, it’s sweet.
Ep 4:
Pony is a damn flipping idiot. Wtf is he thinking. Like. Why. Why would he ever do that in a million years. Steve though, was looking fine again. And rip Soda even though he doesn’t die. I think Pony & Soda both nearly dying in this episode is so funny. Also kinda ooc of Darry? Like? Hospital bills are a deal ton and he is just gonna roll it off? Steve was more like Darry than Darry. Probably cause his boyfriends was dyi-
Ep 5:
We will not be addressing Tim & Cherry. Never. But omg. The tarry again guys the tarry omg I died. They’re so domestic & for what?? Also why is Pony such a moody little crap. I hate him in this because he cannot make up his little hormonal mind for a second. Also why can’t they put pants on? The lack of Two & Steve was very sad but ig the tarry vibes can make up for it. Idk what the brothers were on though agreeing to all that-
Ep 6:
A very close second favorite omg. I love the exploration of both Two and Pony’s friendship & the friendship between Steve and Darry. The scene was short but I really loved the dialogue between Steve & Darry. I think this was the one episode they tried (poorly) to give Steve the spot light & ehh. I love him & I loved hearing more about his dad & his relationship with his dad but there should’ve been more idc. I think the whole fact they all idolize old dead white men is a tad weird. But two’s speech on Elvis was the highlight of the episode by far omg. I just think Steve & Darry were idiots for continuing to work but it produced good content ig. Poor Darry though rip almost lol. I loved the Steve plot line of it all even if it was smaller than hoped for.
Ep 7:
Forking hate this episode. It adds absolutely nothing to the plot besides defiling Soda’s character even further. I think it was a poor poor attempted at ‘omg let’s all get along lol’ but came off incredibly racist & umm. It was an uncomfortable watch that is for sure. Honestly I plan on skipping this episode on my next rewatch it really isn’t worth the time imo. It’s just. Weird.
Ep 8:
Every time I think about this episode I think it could be my favorite hdjskkd but idk. I absolutely freaking adorable the tarry & how they both protect each other. Please they are literally on a date. Soda is an absolute idiot but we know that. Steve was by far superior in this episode & he was a fine specimen too omg they Hawaiian shirt did wonders. Also Stevebit??? Omg please the way they blatantly flirted was so freaking fruity. Darry being a hero & saying the day in an epic way because again, Soda is a complete moron. Idk. Jewel was kinda vibey but Pony was good as well in this episode. Omg this is long but Tim & his parole officer sent me to the moon omg I see why Darry was crushing so hard.
Ep 9:
Ahhhh the two bit centric episode we all needed! I liked seeing how the stayed pretty close & true to his character, besides the drinking. It was fun & nice to learn more about him & his family aside from him just being a wise crack & I think both Pony & Steve saw that. That’s why they both helped him out. & I especially love the way the whole gang stood up for him in the end omg Tim Shepard was scrumptious but isn’t he always. I just love seeing more of two bit & his life & friendships outside the gang. However the scene with Sodapop was absolutely hilarious in an odd way- weirdo boyfriends. Also. Tim borrowing Darry’s suit is by far so tarry & I love them. Tim’s character exploration was also scrumptious in this episode.
Ep 10:
OK BUT- ok but this one also might be my favorite JSKSKKS I’m just gonna keep saying it. Two & Steve are absolutely complete asshole boyfriends. Especially Steve. The energy between two & Steve & soda is absolutely off the charts. Sodapop definitely lost his mind a little bit & I still don’t understand how Buck rationalized his decisions. Pony was just having the time of his life it was so funny. I feel bad for Darry omg it was his birthday & he was stuck being the responsible adult for a loaf of dumb ass kids. But honestly. Soda. You idiot. I know I should feel bad for you. But that sucked. How could you believe that. Buck too. Steve & Two are such fruity cuties though riding around, pranking, smooching, scheming together. Also, steve can draw & is musical? Ok king am I you or are you more attractive that I thought awooga woo
Ep 11:
Haven’t rewatched it yet, will update with I do. Kinda homophobic that it’s missing the first part.
Ep 12:
Also will update when I rewatch
