i'm a-thinkin' on the recordings.

so the thing is. in tma you can basically take it as happening in real time. you're listening to the tapes as the tapes are being recorded. further, you are ONLY listening to the tapes. that is all you ever, ever hear. they're all in chronological order (so even if you aren't listening to them as they happen, you're still listening to them AS they happened, as it were). but they're a set of just one thing, and that thing has been put in order. okay. fine.

the magnus protocol, though? not so.

what EVEN is recording? how are we hearing any of this? we literally know what ONE (1) source of the recordings are, ie fr3-d1 reading out statements. except you know what no!! no that's not true!!! those are recordings, but we don't have access to those recordings specifically!! even with the statements, they're recordings OF recordings!! what the fuck are we listening to!!!

also. one of the reasons i keep thinking about this every single time i listen to an ep. all the noise signaling the start and end of a recording, or the shift from one recording to another - does it sound to anyone else like someone sorting through a bunch of recordings - ?
